[Q] Infinity keeps crashing - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi.
I just purchased the new ASUS Transformer Infinity. I had a TF-101 before (and still have it). After turning the pad on for the first time I enter my gmail details and connect to my WiFi and all is well. The pad starts restoring my TF-101 environment (albeit it stuffs all the apps on the main screec). After simmering for a while the restore seems to complete. I reorganize my apps to reflect the setup I had before and I start noticing that more or less all my apps quit running a few seconds after starting. Even the settings menu quits. EVERYTHING behaves in this fashion.
I look around and find some advise about resetting to factory settings at least three time, and I do that. Then There is some advise about a cold reboot, and I do that. After many repeats of multiple Factory resets and cold reboots my pad has lost its interest in restoring my apps and I can't get it going again.
Any advise on how to "force" the pad to restore from google backup?
One of the first things that seems to happen is the pad discovers there is nod Flash installed and offers to install it. In my first few attempts I did that but in the last few attempts I have not done so in case Flash was my problem. Any thoughts on that.
Is my unit defective or am I missing something blatantly obvious.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Have my Infinity 3 weeks now and not have these probs.
Although I restored some of my old apps from my former tablet to the Infinity and some of them gave problems causing reboots.
The apps who caused it I removed and installed clean without the old data and that worked.
After you performed a factory reset without restoring old apps (only with the standard apps so completely stock) the tablet behaves ok?

Infinity keeps crashing
Yes, apps keep crashing. The problem is not that the pad is restarting but just that, more or less, all apps just quit. I start a browser, view a page and out of the blue the browser quits. I start the browser again and it starts on the same page. I have tried factory resetting and not syncing with old apps. This happens with the stuff that is installed as default environment. I am beginnig to thing the pad is defective.
Thanks,
Ólafur

Infinity keeps crashing
Problem solved.
I got a firmware upgrade OTA resulting in Jelly Bean and nothing the Pad is back to normal. No crashes.
Now, however, none of the apps from my TF-101 pad are installed. How can I restore my downloaded apps again?
When I started the Infinity pad the first time all my apps were in stalled. This happened a couple of times after the Factory resets I did. Now it does not happen any more. Is there anything I can do to force a sync?
Thanks,
Ólafur

I really don't understand your question. The recent Jelly Bean OTA .18 should not wipe your apps. If you do a factory reset, it will wipe out all your apps and you have to reinstall them or restore from your backup. If you have your app sync with Google, then it should install your apps automatically.

In my starting post in this thread I describe maddening instability of the TF700T infinity pad and how I had to attempt repeated factory resets and cold boots. After the first two or three of these attemptd my apps started appearing because of the google sync restore. This eventually stopped happening.
Actually none of these restores finished completely because of the pad's instability and constant app crashes.
I still have my FT-101 pad and that is working beautifully. Is there anything I can do to kick-start a restore to the new Infinity pad?
What will happen if I factory reset pad now? Will it revert to ICS? Is it worth a try as an attempt to get restore going?
Thanks,

You wont lose JB latest update. You will still have the latest update intact and won't need to redo updates. Once you do come to the restore screen make sure the box is checked before proceeding.

A factory reset will wipe all user apps (apps download by you) only, and NO factory reset only clear apps/cache, but NOT downgrade you from JB back to ICS. I am not recommend you to restore app from google account. Here is what you should do. Factory reset 3 times (super clean wipe) and when you setup your tab for the first time, it asked to to sign in with Google account, make sure you uncheck everything before hit next. You should install app from scratch.

Infinity keeps crashing - update
I have now been installing my apps manually one by one. Not all apps get installed on new pad but some.
I was a little bit quick to declare the pad stable after upgrading to Jelly Bean. It is still unstable and apps quit a lot.
For example, while playing Angry Birds (of all apps .-) I myst restart the game around three times per board. I gave up and uninstalled AB. Chrome quits frequently but when I restart it I drop back into the exact same spot I was at before the browser quit. Not just the same page but the same place on that page.
By now I am to the point that I will just suffer through this and wait for more firmware upgrades.

According to Asus, multiple factory resets do nothing more than a single one. Having done this process, I can say that it works no better than a single reset. I have been talking to them directly about these issues:

[Q] Anyone having problem with installing apps from the market?

I have had the transformer for about 2 weeks with no problems installing any apps.
However I was unsuccessful yesterday and googled about clearing cache, but it didn't work so I had to factory reset.
Today, I'm getting the installation unsuccessful messages again. Is this happening to anyone else? I'm starting to get annoyed I have to factory reset to fix this problem.

This happened to me also, I did several factory resets, clearing cache, etc... nothing. Also, keep an eye on the GTalk app, if you can't enter the market, then it's possible that GTalk can't logon. However, the browser and other stuff should work.
What I did is created a temporary second Gmail account, then on the TF, go to settings and remove your account, then add the new temporary account. Again, clear the Market cache again and Google Framework cache.
Try to go market and login on GTalk, if you still can't, no problem, the same thing happened to me.
After that, I did another factory reset, during the initial setup, I used my original GMail account again. Everything started to work as it should, Market and GTalk.
The problem lies within the Google account, like something got stuck or another thing that I don't know. It was frustrating at first...
Occasionally google does maintenance and this seems to affect certain accounts more than others. If you suddenly just get this error then you're better off being patient and try again at a later time/date. Sometimes it's only a few minutes, other times it's hours. It's also worth trying to bypass the app entirely and try using a desktop browser to install.
i've tried using my desktop to install apps, but it fails as well.
i'll try giving it tomorrow to see if it clears up, if not i'll just have to factory wipe again.

[Q] Google Play connectivity and TWRP/CWM backup data

Harware:
Asus Transformer Infinity (rooted and unlocked)
ROM:
CleanROM
Ok, so before I flashed CleanROM I created a backup using CWM. After installing flashing CleanROM and installing a TON of apps from all over the place.(xda, torrentz, play store) I foolishly used goo. Manager to install TWRP. After all of this was installed my tablet continued to perform normally for a few days and then Google play took a MASSIVE DUMP all over my Transformer. So here's my issue:
Primary:
Google play store sporadically refuses to connect. I believe it is some sort of security protocol error. Because, when I try using browser to access the website it shows ~10 consecutive security certificate trust warnings. It last happened two days ago and was happening at least once a day for awhile. Even after I force stopped nearly all downloaded apps, and removed nearly all from startup and manually installed the newest version of Google play. When the error is occurring Google play will open and just stay at a gray background saying, "No Connection", I hit the retry button, but it searches for a second then says no connection found again. This has happened on over three separate wifi networks and each lasted varying times at different times of the day.:cyclops:
Seconday:
So my solution was to try a factory data reset and re-install my apps using either Titanium or App backup. However, I didn't want to do this without transferring my backup data over to my PC for safe storage. So my question is this, does installing TWRP delete/corrupt the backup data stored on the SD card by CWM? Attatched is a pic of my CWM backup folder hopefully containing my stock Asus JB, I really don't want to lose this just in case I ever need it again. But, it seems exceedingly small to be a full backup of the default JB loadout.
Weirdly:
I have a small battery indicator in the middle top of my screen that places itself on top of anything on screen and is always visible... any ideas?
Summary:
Sooo, are there any things that could be affecting Google play connectivity that I installed personally and would a factory data reset even help?
Also, does the attatched picture seem like it could be a valid recovery file of Asus JB? It seems really small...
Finally, strangest of all a small battery indicator shows up in the middle of my screen. VERY annoying.
Thanks in advance for any help.

[Q] A strange Failure to boot.

Hi
I am having a problem that just cropped up on a Xoom 3g running unrooted, Motorola Jelly Bean 4.2.1. I am using it on wi-fi only, no Verizon account. The unit will get past the M screen and then ususally hangs up when it gets to the screen with the expanding colored rectangles. Sometimes the home screen will flash up for a split second, sometimes with enough time to log in. In either case it is back to the colored rectangles shortly, even if I get it to log in. I can get to the factory reset screen during the boot and do a full factory reset reload the apps and settings. I have done this twice. It works for about 20 or 30 boots and then colored rectangles show up in the middle of a session and its back to the boot problem.
Questions:
Does anyone have a quick answer?
Will rooting and reloading Android help or it is a hardware issue?
Thanks for any help
John
Have tried a full factory reset without restoring your apps and settings to see if the issue persist?

It seemed to work ok with the apps installed for a while. There were a couple which were suspect and I did not reinstall after the factor reset. It could be a problem though. Maybe I will try the reset again with only a couple of apps. I am still undescided on the root and updating the OS.

Hi again.
I did some thinking and now I suspect the Bluetooth connection. I had enabled an app that required BT (Logitech Harmony Hub). I also enabled the BT but not the app after the second factory reset. I did another factory reset and did not enable Bluethooth. The unit has been running flawless as before. I did a little searching on the web and found a guy with an identicle problem but it was not clear if it was resolved.. Does anyone know know if this is a common problem and if there is a solution. I could not find anything elso on the web or in the formum that helped. If this is a persistant problem, I am wondering if a custom rom would help.
Thanks
John

Help! Apps constantly crashing. have to reboot phone multiple times a day

Hello all,
Having a problem with my unmodded XT926. Apps are crashing frequently during the day. Phone is usable but I get messages saying that Google Play has stopped working or Fleksy has stopped working. Keyboard app stops working multiple times a day. At first I was using the native keyboard app, but for the last three days I switched to Fleksy to see if that worked better but no dice. When the keyboard app crashes, I have to force reboot the phone. Do I need to reload firmware or something to get my phone stable again?
Phone has never been rooted (company phone). All I've ever done was disable some apps listed on the Xt926 Bloatware post on this forum and played around with Nova Launcher and Tasker.
XT926
KK4.4.2
182.46.15
kernel 3.4.42-gbd361ac
kernel date Jul 29, 2014
Any help/guidance is appreciated. Thanks in Advance

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it has not resolved my problem.
You can always try to enable certain things that you have previously disabled to see if that helps. I'm not sure what you have disabled but what works for some, may not work for you.
Since your rooted, you can also use Titanium Backup to freeze apps.
Are you familiar with RSD Lite?

The app crashes were happening prior to me disabling programs. I have tried enabling everything again and the results are the same. Most of what I disabled are the bloatware apps (Amazon, MC3, Real Racing, Spotify, etc.)
I am not rooted.
Have never used RSD Lite but will look into it.
You can try going into the "Apps" menu in settings and clearing the caches for individual apps. Some of them get quite large, and the cache only stores temporary data for reasons of convenience.
You can uninstall apps you don't really need (some of them run in the background and use up memory, look in "Running" apps in the system-apps listing).
Tasker is always running in the background; do you really need it?
You can try going into developer options (go into "About phone" in settings, then tap the build number many times) and reducing the background process limit.
If all else fails, you can do a factory data reset, or even more drastic, you can reflash the stock firmware.
Also bear in mind that this is an old device, and current apps expect devices with more memory and faster processors. Every time an app is updated with more features, it uses more memory on your phone and makes it run slower.

Backup important data (pics, music etc.) and try a factory reset. This should cure all you problems.
If this process cures your phones problems, you can root your phone if you like. Look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr-hd/general/index-motorola-droid-razr-hd-2015-t3167557
Factory reset was done prior to my post on this board.
Don't think tasker is the problem. After the reset, I manually added apps one or two at a time... Tasker was the last one added, but crashes were happening before that.
Previously, I had been using tasker for about 6 months with no crashes at all.
Right now, I'm leaning toward flashing the firmware. My company has put a temporary ban on issuing droid phones due to that big exploit that was discovered a few weeks ago. I hate iPhones and am trying to keep this one running until they lift the ban.
Thanks for all the help so far. I'm open to trying anything to just get this phone back to a stable condition.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
so here is the latest.
Phone rebooted itself, after an app crash and is now stuck on the Droid Eye bootup screen thingy...
Force reboot doesn't fix it. Took it to Verizon store downstairs for sh*ts and giggles and they were no help. No surprise there!
Does this sound like a hardware issues to you guys?
Guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get an iPhone from my company as a replacement.. unless someone on here has some miracle suggestion.
It sounds more like a software issue to me.
I would see if you can get into fastboot or ADB and flash a fresh copy of the firmware before giving up entirely.
A full flashing of the firmware via RSD Lite will probably fix your issues
So I was able to Flash firmware to 183.46.15 and I also rooted the phone using sd_shadow instructions. Took me quite a while to actually download a working firmware file. The only working link I found was here: http://download1520.mediafire.com/rnbmstjwc1wg/du1p88ti1esd5fk/VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_1FF.xml.zip
I guess I'll see if the phone is any more stable over the next few days.
Thank you all for the suggestions. Much appreciated!
Was this ever resolved?

Samsung s6 games installed after reset

Since my other thread didn't any answer I want to give another try before confirming that the community is dead.

I noticed that everytime I reset my phone it automatically installed a couple of games, and this time pandora app also. The weird thing is I went through the phone initial setup without sign in google play store or samsung.
It is kind of bother me somewhat.
Does anyone know how they get installed ?

I believe it is caused by BY Ignite, since I've deleted it I don't get any game installs upon factory reset.
How do you delete ignite when it is automatically install as part of the factory reset?
Do you mean right after factory reset ?
I've had to factory reset a few times for different reasons. I'm rooted and deleted BT Ignite as soon as I did and deleted all games, and after factory reset no new games or apps were installed. If you're rooted delete it or rename it so it can't run. If not rooted you can disable it With a few different apps.
