I'm sorry if this is a spam post, which I'm unfortunately not sure if this could be categorized as one.
But, in the Thrill forums, we've no longer had anyone taking care of ROMs for v20p, this is unfortunate, it seems that all of our Devs have either gave up on the phone, gotten sick of it and traded it, or have gotten to lazy to keep track of proper links in order to keep us actively updated on our next update.
We're suffering, We've only got ONE, ONE ROM! That's not even properly fixed to the consumers needs, this ROM would unfortunately be Thrill Seeker 3.1
If some of you devs would kindly build some nice tasty ROMs that are promising or if some of you could move a v20p project over there, we'd highly appreciate it.
Last thing, the only thing about our forum is that we are bloatware haters from Hades.
Thank you for giving this a nice read and hopefully someone can save the Thrill.

IMO The O3D/P920 Section Should merged with the Thrill 4G as it is the same Device.
I Think the O3D Roms work On the Thrill
Move To General.

No! Because then you've gotta flash a baseband and everything just to get your stuff back, bad call!
Same with the HTC Evo 3D, they've been arguing since the phone came out to get a new forum for that one device, XDA has turned it down four times.
We just need an active ROM Dev

Well, if you don't like the situation in the P925 forum, why not learn how to dev? samno has a great post on how to start somewhere in this forum
The thing is, the P920 and P925 are so similar, yet so different. We can make a rom, sure, but testing and getting the files required becomes a pain because we don't have the baseband to test if what we did broke cellular data, 4G etc. The best bet for you guys imo is to get some people to learn how to dev. That is a better long term solution than getting the P920 devs to move over.

The problem with that is that I have the time, buy I'm not sure if I've got the patience.
Could someone throw out a custom Theme from scratch? Particularly, a Flashable zip.
And give me a few days, I guess I'll look into it.... I'm gonna need an experienced Dev on my side as well.

You actually have two ROMs...
AcidHazardROM is one of them and it fits most users needs as it's customizable down to the kernel.
I'm trying to do some dev work for the thrill as I'm tired of using O3D ROMs and not having 4G. I can't promise anything special or cutting edge or that I will even release one. I've been working on it a little here and there, but plan on getting something together sometime soon. I just won't release anything if its not worth doing so. I'm still learning a ton about it.

Whaa? I'm 100% positive O3D ROMs have 4G. You're using the wrong baseband if you don't have it.

I have found that nearly all of the ROMs for the Optimus3D work for the Thrill 4g (or P925g, in my case, with the 20c baseband) if you flash the ThrillzGB kernel before booting into the new ROM.
The link to the kernel is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546103 .
Hope this helps!
Someone give me a link to a system dump of 20p & 20c and I might cook something up. Bored so might as well get back into it, also boot.IMG too so I can make a super stock kernel. Also 20p is '+' kernel but what about 20c?
Quite possibly the case, but I know for sure I haven't had 4G since I started using 03D ROMs. Tips on what to do? As I said I'm still learning a lot.
I know flashing a baseband will fix it, but I'm using Cyanogen Mod as of right now. I just haven't found anything that works as well which is why I want to create a very stable and clean ROM for the thrill.

I can give you one for v20c, just give me some steps on how to do it. I don't know completely if what I will do it right. -.-
Use "adb pull /system" (no quotes), the files will be copied from your phone into the same directory as adb. Just zip up the copied files (use the date modified as a clue as to which files were copied and which ones are originally from the adb folder) and upload it somewhere, As for boot.img, if I'm not mistaken it should be "adb shell", then "su", then "dd if /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of /sdcard/boot.img". The boot.img file should sit in /sdcard.

dunno what you guys are going on about. im a total noob and i can get the O3D roms to work on the Trill. i get 4G too,
step 1: root using Monster Root
step 2: flash CWM recovery with that .bat file in the Thrill README Thread
step 3: use the LG tool (do a search) and flash the V21e firmware
step 4: root again
step 5; flash CWM again
step 6: flash any O3D rom (i flashed the Thiaz one which had the Thiaz kernel in it)
step 7: enjoy :good:
dunno if i should've rooted before flashing firmware but thats what i did. after flashing the V21e the root went away so i rooted again.

Yeah, when you're changing firmwares, you don't have to root or install CWM.
The LG Flash Tool erases the system, recovery, and kernel partitions.
EDIT: There's always been a dump for V20P, The install script messes up font, so someone might have to fix it.

Okay I literally just got this phone yesterday and I see all this talk about Gingerbread and how great it is so I decided I want to try it. I know next to nothing about all the technicalities about this phone so I youtube'd how to do it and found this video that I plan to use to help me in the process. - watch?v=YuURgkUYn1A
So if I follow that process and use the files he uses, I should have Gingerbread and still have my connection to AT&T, GPS, and WiFi? Also, when AT&T finally does release it officially, will I be able to just go to Software Update on the menu and get the official AT&T Firmware and not have to worry about all this technical stuff again?

Try THIS link out, its got pretty much everything you want to know to get started(including vids). The only things that don't work on GB currently HDMI and on some of the roms, bluetooth. If you want to get the official OTA when it drops you will have to go back to stock, easiest way is to use THIS method. Also when GB does drop, Devs most likely will make their own roms based on the official GB.
Once your rooted and have recovery installed use THIS thread to find the ROM you want...
This is just a rough overview, so make sure you READ carefully and take your time, any question you have is usually answered in the appropriate thread.
Here is a link to the latest AT&T Gingerbread leak. Use Odin to flash it, and if you stick with the included stock kernel, everything works as it should. It looks very close to being ready for release. If you want it rooted, flash Entropy's kernel and then use CWM recovery and the Superuser zip you can find on here to install su. Then, flash the stock kernel again to keep everything working (video, bluetooth, etc.).:

That's legit Dman, it seems you learn a new trick on a daily basis; ports, roms and now kernels. I'm loving how the infuse development is still kickin!
So back on topic lol. Xia, Dman's CatyRom is one of the most recent GB roms (and plenty more), it's based off of the leaks from At&t. Once your ready, look into that!
Edit: Nevermind my question, dman, thanks anyway for what you're doing.
To the OP, a good AOSP Gingerbread rom that I keep coming back to is Serendipity VII. I hope that MikeyMike will still come back to update that one when we get the official AT&T Gingerbread.

My vote would be either the international SGSII or one of its variants (I have i777 and things always seem to be booming over there).
Go get a Samsung phone, whichever is the latest one that AT&T has. They always have a TON of developers.
You know on the other hand you could just put in some time and learn and get some great ROMs in the process, lfaber06, cogery, and myself could really use the help, and it really is not all that hard, if you know anything about phones and flashing, and some about computers.

I replied to your PM with everything you need to do...
Hi, I have noticed a ton of people curious about why AT&T people do not have ICS yet, so I thought I would answer that once and for all. I admit that I and others have gotten a little mad whenever people ask about this, but it seems they are not able to really find a clear answer, so here it is.
If you feel like this is well done, please sticky it at least until we get it all figured out.
I figure this would be best said i a Q and A type form.
Q: What is ICS, and why does everyone want it so bad?
ICS or "Ice Cream Sandwich" is android version 4.0.x. the next version, 4.1 Jellybean was just released as a slightly less important update, but ICS brought huge changes from Ginger Bread (2.3.x) the previous phone version (3.x HoneyComb was tablet only). ICS brings a slicker, darker, and better looking user interface, as well as many performance enhancements. Most of us want it more because it seems like we should than because it is actually that much better. That said it is still a great update, and most people will be happy to see it.
Click to collapse
Q: Why is it so hard to get ICS for our phone, while others have it even though it is not officially out?
The main reason is our locked bootloader. That means it is not possible to flash or boot a custom kernel unless it is signed with Motorola's key. That is obviously impossible.
Click to collapse
Q: What is a kernel?
the kernel is a major part of any operating system. you can think of it as a sort of layer between hardware and software. It is the part of an OS that communicates directly with a device's hardware. Android is based off the open source Linux kernel, meaning it is free for anybody to build and modify. However, Motorola has only released the source for the ME865, and partially for the MB865, meaning we can't really build a kernel anyways. Then of course, even if we could build one, we wouldn't be able to boot it with our locked bootloader.
ICS is not really complete without the newer kernel that goes with it

What is Kexec, and is there any way to unlock the bootloader
The fact that I grouped these together would probably lead you to correctly believe they are related. Lets start with the second half. Simply put, NO. I hate to say it, but there is very little hope of EVER unlocking our bootloader, unless Motorola decides to do something like HTC did and allow unlocking.
Kexec is a method of hot switching kernels while still booted. It is actually just a linux tool that you can use on a computer, but it has been built for android essentially allowing you to bypass the bootloader. Theoretically it would be an easy way to run custom kernels. Then why don't we? Well a few reasons. One, we can't really get one built to begin with, especially because, at least to my knowledge, jimbridgman is the only one who actually knows what he is doing with kernel building, and he is only half here now that he got his fany new SGS3. Two, it does not work great. I am not sure the latest version is working at all on our phone, and even if it did, only one processor comes up, meaning it is really slow.
Click to collapse
Q: What's the deal with these Droid 3 builds that supposedly boot?
Some people managed to build ICS for the droid 3 based of a 2.3.6 kernel. that means you can boot it on a stock GB kernel, and therefore you do not need to unlock the bootloader. Unfortunately that means it is not totally ICS, but it is still pretty good. Of course they are for a cdma phone, so that means no data, no calls, and no gps, making it kind of useless.
I am not going to give a link to them, but if you are really interested go search around. any of the Droid 3 AOKP and CM9 builds will boot just fine. Find more info in the dev section, but please don't start a thread asking about it.
We have been trying to port these to work for us, but that is proving more difficult than expected, and with ICS just around the corner, I don't want to put time into it. I do think it is possible, and if you are a dev looking to give it a shot, PM me and I will tell you all I know, and try to help out as much as I can.

Why don't we have a vanilla rom? Is it due again to the locked bootloader?

Just one thing to inform about your last question's ans.. DROID 3'S ROMS DONT WORK ON OUR PHONE. IT WILL BOOTLOOP. SO DO NOT TRY FLASHING THEIR AOKP OR CM.. without backups and sufficient knowledge and experience atleast.. some changes have to be made in the rom before flashing.. i am trying to find all the files we must replace to get them working on our phone.. and just a FYI for those of you that wanna try.. other than droid 3, bionic is our nearest relative.. so u can edit and try their roms as well.. i did kinda get cm9 of bionic after replacing some required files.. but it bootlooped.. and of course bionic is cdma.. so.. good luck..

Couldn't be more wrong....they both boot just fine and are pretty functional, the problem lies in getting the radio to work.

Please I emplore you to do your proper research before making incorrect posts like this. I constantly see posts from those who think they know it all, and post idiotic things like this. Nothing makes me madder than someone who does not know how to use google and the search function.
It takes less than 2 min. to make sure you CYA before posting bad information.
Both CM9 and AOKP boot, but with no radio, as has already been said in several posts now. I have tested both.
P.S. most of us devs in here have been working on this very thing for sometime now, and I have not seen you jump in on any of threads discussing the files or how to port or anything.

Agreed, They actually run extremely well, but obviously I can't stick with them with no radio.
P.S. this is my new best thought for porting, might take some extra build.prop work too. It did not boot for me, but I think we should be able to get it to. Then it is just a question of whether or not the radio will work. there is way more in build.prop on that than I would think.

I think it may work because it really adds the cm9 stuff to our own files rather than add our files to it. maybe not the cleanest way, but it might just work.

WOW, did I really forget to add that? that was kind of one of the main points of this post I'll fix it tomorrow (actually today, I guess it is after midnight), but I need some sleep.

I have tried this method along with every idea that popped in my head of things to alter after following this guide. I have a highly modified build prop that AOKP boots with that I replaced with a lot of our build prop but there are still some things missing as no luck yet
I will provide screen shots in a limp bit. For now, the cellphone signal does not get service. Everything else thus far is working great and in USA english.
UPDATE: don't do this to your G2X. reverting back to stock g2x firmware will brick your phone. mine bricked beyond repair and I trashed it. don't do this to your g2x like i did. big mistake

Wait.. How can he post in the Dev section with just 1 post on his account? I call BS and a troll post.
so the sim card is not working for whatever reason. i am looking into this now. my phone was a p999 in the google play store and is now a p990. interesting. I started this process of installing v30a ICS onto my p999 tonight by using clockworkmod recovery that was designed for p990 v6.0.x.x
I found this method by searching dual boot p999 on xda and i found a person wanting to dual boot and thought they to could install p990 rooms onto their p999. So it almost works yo
SUBSCRIBED. DO WE FINALLY GET ICS/JB???
Pardon my french here but, wtf? That should not be possible. Someone get Tonyp or Mazout in here pronto.

The only possible way I could see this working would be if the partitions were resized to that of the P990 which would make sense why the radio doesn't work. The baseband is unknown so its not the sim. Don't get your hopes up guys.

your SIM doesnt work because the RIL for the P990 is different than the P999. also, this ROM may of been modified to work with the P999 partition structure.

So maybe you should type up very carefully, step by step what you did. All i got out of your posts is that you have a p990 rom, running on a p999 and that you did it using a cwm made for the p990. You also mentioned something abt dual boot..... Im confused and i think some others are too. Plz explain what you did. Im not trying to hate, im just trying to understand. Thanks.

I don't want to explain what I did on this post. I want a dev to connect with me so I can go over what I have done with the v30a. Please do not ask me unless you intend to explain how it can be done. I do not want to go into any more detail on this thread. Thank you so much for your support

I used to own this device when it came out. And left it but still miss it. I see that since then and now I havent seen an optimus 2x rom port yet. I know about the difference with these two devices and I know that flashing a 2x rom out of the box will make you lose your radio/modem even though the phone works great without data/calls. But I have seen this method about porting roms from another manufactures. And it uses CM as a base.
So I was wondering if any dev here had tried doing that? Porting a stock optimus 2x ICS using CM ICS as a base. Here is the link by the way. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40575946 If you did I would like to know about your progress.
Wow not a single replied. I see why this phone is dev death.
I tried it, got the phone to boot the login screen but that was it. It would not let me continue past it and I realized it was a Jellybean port so there wouldn't have been a radio anyway and gave up as I have no development experience.

It's somewhat useless. We can build CM9/CM10/CM10.1 ROMs without radio (and with full hardware acceleration) that are made to fit onto the G2X without any partition size change/bootloader change.

Yes but correct me if Im wrong.. This is like porting MIUI.. Just use a cm base roms,... I wonder why nobody could figure out how to port the stock 2x rom without the bootloader, firmware? You pretty much dont need that on other phones. Like on the Samsung GS2, GS3. GS4.. When I had this phone back in the day. A stock 2x rom would work fine on my G2X only issue was unknown baseband. So no data and calls, And the only way to get it back was with a backup on nvidiatool or whatever it was called.
Ive actually tried , everything was working except all you end up with is unknown baseband .. which is pretty much the same as all the 4.2 jb roms ..this phone is a lemon .. they should have a lemon law with phones too .. lg never again

Use the search feature, I'm sure it has been done before but probably a long time ago when the phone just came out. If your gonna attempt it, your going to need a lot of experience, time and patience for the bull*****. A lot of great devs have tried cm10 & cm9 porting but with no success.
