I accidentally installed busybox by CWM but it was designed for galaxy tab 10.1 instead of galaxy note 10.1. Now, the device has some problems like it does not detect the sim cart and so on. I can install new frameworks and I have CWM but nothing happens when I install new framework or wipe the device. Also, I tried a stock rom but .... .
I really need help.
sorry for bad english.

Never would have guessed busybox that is usually pretty generic and doesn't have much to do with nonroot apps would cause issues like what you seem to be experiencing.. crazy stuff but good luck!
If nothing else Odin back to newest stock using the stock Odin package that is usually found among your device "stickied" threads. I don't have a gnote but I have had many galaxy devices and Odin is the cure for all ills

How can I reset the device to first time run state. Like it asked me about personal info and gmail account at start up?
each time I install new framework it begins to the OS without asking about these info.

Could always try to install busybox from the market.. Exactly what zip did you use and where did it come from please I would like to look inside it

Flash stock in ODIN. Wipe data/factory reset in stock recovery. Reboot. Enjoy.
Check Triangle Away thread for flash counter. You didn't do your homework. You should learn how to recover your device BEFORE you frak it up. Good luck.

There is point when I start in system recovery it shows:
E: failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
is it ok?
also the yellow hint in the screen that I showed in the first comment indicates a software error.

OK go here follow instructions for flashing Tom with Odin.download stock rom. You do not have to flash cwm flash stock rom instead boot your tablet
Never flash your device or install software until you know how to revert back

Thank you for your help. But I think I have a different problem. I flashed stock rom (several big roms about 1GB) but nothing happened. When I try to wipe data/factory reset it shows E; failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument). I think I need to mount /efs and format it.

I think I missed some files in the efs folder. the phone status shows that some basic info are missed from the phone. check the attached.

Phone did not upgrade to ICS properly

First of all I apologize if this has been brought up before in other posts. I am in a mixture of frustration and panic right now because I tried upgrading to ICS on my Rogers SGS2 LTE, and it failed.
Using Kies, I followed the prompts, and for whatever reason it didn't finish. Now when I boot up the phone, it keeps telling me to use the recovery mode option in Kies. However, if I do try to use recovery mode, it always times out and tells me I may need to contact a Samsung service center. The computer has no problem communicating with the phone, AFAIK.
Basically, I'm here to ask what options I have. Currently, i'm trying to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348 , but because the stock TAR is taking a long time to download, I'm asking if I have any other options. I would like to keep the data on my phone, but if I have to wipe it to return it to normal I'm willing to do that.
Please help.
Reboot and try again

Are you rooted? Are you running the stock recovery that came on the phone? If your rooted and have apps that are froze or your running a modded recovery like cwm you must flash back to stock or kies will not ever work

I've tried rebooting the computer I was using, and I've also tried another computer with no luck. I got the latest Kies on the other computer, connected the phone with no problem, and tried recovery mode on THAT 2nd computer, but it didn't work because it didn't recognize my recovery code that the first computer gave me.

I *think* I was rooted. I remember doing something a long time ago involving odin. I never installed Cyanogenmod or any other 3rd party roms.
I had Superuser under my apps, if that helps.
I wish I could reply sooner but this board is making me wait 5 mins between posts. Sorry. It's like I'm in the emergency room with a gunshot wound and I'm waiting for the doctor to finish his smoke break, then his coffee break, then washroom break, jesus
by CWM, I think you're asking about Clockwordmod? If so, yes, I had that on my phone. Does this mean I can't use the steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348 to fix my phone now? Or can I still proceed.
If you have superuser then most likely you are rooted and since you have clockworkmod especially then kies is not gonna update your phone. Your on Rodgers so you need to find the stock firmware and flash it. I'm on att or I could link you to one that would work. I got my stock firmware from Samsung website. Try going to sammobile and see if you can find the stock firmware for your phone. I'm sure since its Samsung they should have Rodgers firmware to. Download the stock firmware and flash it in Odin onto to your phone and then kies should work. If you can't find the stock firmware at sammobile then look for the stock firmware here on xda I'm sure someone on Rodgers has it....
Edit. The link up there to Odin back to stock should work. Just download the file and follow the steps in order and don't leave one out. There are no shortcuts when it comes to flashing a phone or it could be rendered useless for anything more than a paperweight. Konane is real good and would not lead anyone wrong....

I just wanted to post a follow-up. I followed the steps from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348 and it fixed me phone. Best of all, I didn't lose anything.
I would still like to get ICS on my phone. I noticed on Sammobile's site that there is a firmware for 4.04 that was released recently. Would I somehow be able to use that, combined with Odin, to get ICS on my phone? In other words, follow all the steps in the aforementioned thread, except, use this newer firmware file? Sorry I realize this may sound like a dumb noob question, but I want to make sure I do things right.
Thanks for all the help btw.

If you're back to stock and on Rogers, you should be able to update using Kies.
The thing is, when Odin fixed my phone, it didn't remove Superuser, so doesn't that mean my phone isn't stock anymore? I was expecting Odin to basically reset my phone back to factory settings, but it seems to have just reverted it back to before I tried updating to ICS with kies.

I haven't used the stock 3e that much always just flash cwm but I would suggest that you do a factory data reset to from the recovery if 3e gives that option I've never used it so I'm not sure. But if you are still on cwm recovery kies will not ever update your phone until you put everything back stock. You must have just flashed the kernel only. Flashing just the kernel does not wipe anything you need to flash the stock firmware from sammobile in Odin and that will do a full wipe and restore everything to stock

Turn the phone off. Hold both volume up and volume down and hold the power button do not release the volume buttons yet. Pressing all 3 buttons when you first see the screen come on mine shows an att logo then release the power button only. The phone will then boot into either 3e stock recovery or cwm recovery

OK, I did what you said, and I see 3e and the option to wipe data/factory reset. So you're recommending I do this BEFORE i try to use Odin and the latest firmware for Sammobile?
Just out of curiosity, if I didn't do a reset before flashing using Odin, what would happen?

[Q] Help with upgrading from GB to ICS via Kies

So I had downloaded Kies and it was ready to upgrade my blaze to ICS, but I read that the phone should be unrooted first. So I did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591601
Apparently that was a mistake. Now I get the following error in Kies:
"Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies" "Current firmware version: PDA:LB7 / PHONE:LF4 / CSC:LB7 (TMB)"
Should I have just upgraded without unrooting? Why is it telling me this? I thought this was the stock ROM? If I keep flashing me Blaze with different ROMs without completely reformatting, will that slow it down?
You gotta go back to the OG rom before the first update.... If u look there is a thread about it on here somewhere

that's a kies issue. lets face it, it sucks. but that's the only tar I've been able to find that puts it back to Samsung Official and allows you to upgrade via kies. If you dont trust the links I have, you can find the tar at sammobile.com but you'll have to register to download

[FIX] "Your device does not support software upgrading via kies" is fine and 100% working. I can personally confirm this ;]
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using xda premium
I never understood why people choose to use Kies... I personally hate it. It is much faster and easier to do it the XDA way and root/CWM and then flash whatever rom you want. If you want I'll post the quicker way to do this. No one has hard bricked from this method and its quite simple.
Root your device (you already have I see)
Install CWM HERE. (make sure not to check re-partition)
Boot into CWM by holding Volume UP and Volume DOWN and pressing POWER. USB must be unplugged. (could take up to 20 seconds to load CWM)
Flash your new ICS modem HERE in CWM
Now you can install any ROM you wish. You can install the stock ICS rom or a modified ROM. It is best to always have CWM just in case something messes up you have options to fix. If you install through Kies you have to install CWM over again anyways. This is faster. Now to install a ROM, there is a common process that will help out....
To install a ROM:
Boot into CWM
Perform a factory/reset
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik cache (under advanced)
Install zip (ROM)
Reboot and let your phone sit for at least 5 minutes, 10 is preferred.
Newbie Guide for Modding
You can read the above link for a small rundown on CWM and its available options. If you are here on XDA you probably should have CWM.
I had unrooted my device before installing CWM and didn't see the part that says to root it before hand. I installed it, seems to work fine. Will I have any problems.
Also, I just learned you're instructions are missing a step, I have flash the actual ICS ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918608
Before the radio mod you listed. Other than that, thanks!
P.S. What do you mean by "modem"?

[Q] Need emergency help to unbrick Galaxy 3 GT-i5801.

I have been using Samsung Galaxy 3 GT-i5801 for 2 years now.. It was having Android 2.1. Today I decided to install custom ROM to upgrade to Android 2.3.7. Used the below steps in the process:
1. Rooted the device using SuperOneClick
2. Installed ClockworkMode ROM manager 4.3.3.0. Installed G3RM as well.
3. I could not take the backup. G3RM when tried to open was opening a html code when i clicked the options. ClockworkMode did not have the option for Galaxy 3.
4. Downloaded the CM7.2.0-GT-i5800_Alpha8.3_CWM.zip from google code pages for cm7-i5800 (92.2 MB in size).
5. Copied the zip file to the base directory of SD card and renamed it to update.zip. Using CWM wiped the data/factory reset. Phone rebooted to Android 2.1 with all data erased.
6. Then I updated the ROM using CWM. It didn't throw any errors. Mobile rebooted. But it gets stuck in opening screen forever (display contains just GT-I5801 and Samsung). I assume this is a soft brick. As I recollect now, I forgot to clear the cache before the upgrade. Will this be a problem?
7. Tried to recover using Power + Vol Up+ Vol Down + Menu combination. This process is also stuck with a message "FORCED UPLOAD by KEY PRESSING".
8. I suspect the device is bricked now.
I am new to android ROM updates. I am looking forward for your help to unbrick the device now. Please suggest me the steps to unbrick the device (Or a link which i should follow).
Regards,
Shreekanth
At Step 7, try use ODIN and flash a Rom through it. Theres a guide somewhere on this forum. It should help save your.. Oh wait. I think you have to get a special i5801 ROM, but I might be wrong.
My phone does not boot up now.. Will it be possible to use ODIN to flash a ROM at this stage? Before step 6, I had cleared the wiped the data / factory reset using CWM. That time it rebooted to Android 2.1. Later i copied the ROM and tried the ROM update. I am facing the problem since then.
Since the display turns on, I assume this is kind of soft brick. So hoping for a fix. I am searching the entire forum for any possible answer. Please help me with your suggestions.

Start at the beginning. When you rooted your phone what ROM/build were you on? Stock? What Recovery are you running? Did you make a backup? In my experience, you usually get a system 7 error when the download is bad, (did you check the MD5?) or if you're trying to flash a ROM that doesn't match your current system (IE: trying to flash a JB ROM when you're currently on ICS.)
The more info we have, the better we can help you.

thanks, on it now. Just need to get it back to stock with Odin then I'll try again when I understand what I'm doing more.
Anyone feeling charitable and want to tell me how to flash the stock rom with Odin? I'd appreciate it.

Best of luck mate, reply here if you have any issues. And for pete's sake, next time, instead of watching a YouTube video, read read read and re-read the forums. Once that's done, read them again. Only then, start flashing.

That's an alternate form of DL mode. Odin a stock ROM from that screen. Read the Noobs Guide. Odin is finicky so pay attention to the guide. Then read it again. Once you've read and comprehend it all spin in a circle saying "I deserve this" three times and Odin will grant your wish. lol

Got it working, used TWRP to flash the latest RC CM 10.1
Got it all going now after a minor heart attack and a few more grey hairs. Just gotta figure out why the wifi isn't working at all now. Can't get it to turn on.
Your original 'system error 7' problem was most likely caused by trying to flash a newer ROM with an older version of CWM or TWRP. Glad you got the phone up, can't help you with the wifi problem, sorry. Although, what modem did you flash, if any? System Settings -> About phone -> Baseband version?

I flashed the UXUMA7 radio, didnt really do much, it worked before.
Still can't figure out the Wifi though :-/ just straight up won't turn on.
If you are on a newer CM 10.1 , the only supported radio is UCMC1, UXUMA7 is really old. That may be why wifi is not working.
UXUMA7 and UCMC1 are very similar. First one is the Rogers and second is att's release which is usually late by a month or so after rogers. Bottom line both will work.
Have your radiofile.zip, cm10.1.zip, and gapps from 20130301 all on your SD card.
Do you have a back up, nandroid? If not do it now.
Go to recovery and Clean up well:
Go to mounts and format data, system, cach twice or three times. Go to advanced and clean dalvik cache. Don't reboot
Now installing in this order:
- radio
-cm10.1
-gapps
Now reboot your phone.
Wait until it is finished and leave it untouched for 10 minutes to settle down and do its thing.
Then turn it off back on and enjoy.
Your noob status will start to fade if you do a clean install

[SOLVED] Did I brick?

Hey everyone,
So I think I may have done something strange and i'm not sure how to fix it. Long story short, screen cracked, so I bought a new one and I used TWRP to backup my original phone. So now, i'm just trying to unlock and root, you know, the usual. BTW, I tried using ABD/Fastboot, which I never typically do, but I heard it was more efficient and whatnot so I thought I try. I think the unlocking of the bootloader went well. And I even think I flashed recovery properly. But when I tried to access recovery, it prompted me for a password.
I read on the TWRP site I was supposed to let the phone boot as normal before accessing recovery. Oops. So I tried formatting all the data on the phone and no I have no OS or any files to recover from and adb push keeps giving me "Device not found" and now I don't know what to do.
Help?
EDIT: In case anyone has this issue searching threads, I just used Wug Toolkit to flash everything back to stock and then used the same Toolkit to unlock and root. TWRP isn't going to recognize a backup from a different phone. To my understanding, there is a way around that, but I didn't look into it. Oh, and apparently, don't flash the EFS partition lol

Oh, that reminds me, TWRP wasn't able to mount any of the directories, it seems. I think it can, now, but I remember seeing those errors in the log before I wiped everything. Thanks for that suggestion, i'll give it a shot.
No problem, report back if it works

I can't seem to find on the internets which odin version is compatible with the Nexus 5. I'm not finding any hits to directly correlate and I don't want to damage further. Which one would you recommend?
Odin is for Samsung devices

Odin is a Samsung thing. Not LG.
What you'll need to do is flash the 4.4.2 factory image. Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701

OK!
So, I used the Wug toolkit to basically flash everything to stock, and then root it. I installed TWRP using the app and I tried using the app to restore from my earlier back up. So, it boots into recovery but nothing happened. Looking at the log, it says the TWRP isn't able to locate the files. Trying to just restore from recovery isn't helpful because when I hit "Restore" nothing pops up. As if the SDCard partition isn't being accessed. I can't see any of the files in any directory. Anyone have any ideas?
You need to let the phone boot into android before flashing a custom recovery.

I realize that now lol. Well, I fixed that, but now have a new issue. Any ideas for me?
Flashing the factory image erases everything. Such as backups stored on your phone.

I had a copy saved on my desktop, so I transferred it back.

Did you put the backup on the root of the sdcard? I think it needs to be in the TWRP folder. You should first make a backup of your current rom even if it's stock rooted.

Someone explained to me TWRP won't recognize a backup with a serial number from a different phone. So essentially, I will just have to forego it. I used Wug Toolkit to fix this issue and just flashed everything to stock and had the same toolkit unlock and root. Using ADB was a fail and cost me a whole afternoon lol
