[Q] Help required installing CM9/10 on my Samsung Galaxy S 4G - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hi,
I was trying to install the CM9/10 for my device and I found a link on how to install here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-T959V/Installing_CyanogenMod_9
I am following the steps, but i am stuck at a place where i have to install CWM 5.0.2.x or higher. I checked their website http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager and found version 3.2.0.0. Could you guys please let me know where to find 5.0.2.8?? or suggest an alternative. I am sorry if there was a post similar to this, as i have done extensive search before posting this thread. Thanks in advance, waiting for a reply.

As stated on the wiki page you linked to, you need a kernel with CWM Recovery preinstalled (don't use ROM Manager!)
This page shows you how to flash a kernel onto the device to give you the proper recovery.
Keep reading the wiki, there's lots of good stuff in there to teach you how this device works as far as flashing goes

Thank you!! I was able to install the Kernel and the CM9 ROM....

He flashed a kernel that already has it pre-installed. As was suggested in the above post.

Look for bhundven's Blast Off kernel or AntonX's Basic with a Twist in the Development section to then flash CM9 from.

So i'm assuming stock, and what theme are you trying to install? If its a Theme Engine theme in .apk format, like something you got from the market, then you would need a AOSP based ROM like CM7. If its a theme you downloaded somewhere else, and its in .zip format, then you need to specify which theme and/or where you got it from. Installing themes depend on if they were made for your ROM/phone.
Thanks for the info, is there a write up or section that tells me what is needed to install the cm7rom
thx

If you never modded your g2x before, that means you probably have the stock recovery, you need ClockWorkMod Recovery to flash anything custom, ROMs, kernels, etc. Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
It will walk you through flashing the latest CWM Recovery. Read and follow the directions carefully. When you have CWM Recovery flashing and working properly, then you can visit the Android Development section and find CM7 official, or a nightly. Good luck

any roms for 2.3.6?

i just joint this site and have been searching for roms which i can root to. my phone is currently running 2.3.6 DDKT1. if anyone would just give the link of a ROM which will work on my phone i would be thankful.
all ROMs are gonna run fine. Some good, the others better.
just go to the development section and find a ROM that suits you. Follow the Instructions and you'll be fine.
Try using a program such as ROM Manager, and you'll be screwed.
i see that ur currently using RazaDroid v1.0 at 801MHz. how do i also get it? im new to this so how do i root my device to ur ROM? and is 801MHz stable??

[Q] RZrecovery for Nexus S GSM?

does anyone have RZrecovery version 2.1.3 or 2.1.4beta for Nexus S "GSM" version?
because I look at these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309454
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/7309-recovery-rzrecovery-many-devices/
I found this thread, but it has only the cdma/4G version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382624
this recovery seems promising, but the download link is dead, so is the dev's website...
does anyone have a backup? or, can someone compile it from the source?
is this compatible with ICS?
any help will be much appreciated, thanks...
Looks like you have an i19020. Since you cant find your desired recovery roms. I would suggest you to than flash a new rom. For eg Cm9, iceandfire..etc
heres the link for CM9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399035

Currently, I'm using CyberGRv10 and don't have any problem with that.

[Solved] [Q] How to flash tiamat v1.1.5 onto a HTCdev unlocked Desire S

Hello everybody!
My name is James and i am from Singapore, first time posting here on the forums. I have done my due searching for solutions to my query but alas need some direct answers from my sempais over here at XDA.
I have rooted my DS by following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497604 and got my enlightenment from the splendid mini-guide posted by user "foX2delta"
Now I am on CyanogenMod RC 7.2 and lovin' every moment spent with it. But i have an urging to flash the tiamat kernel over to see if I can get anymore battery life and performance out of the setup. But the problem is this: I have unlocked via HTCdev and rooted via SU. I do not know where to find the Boot.img required for me to flash tiamat onto my DS. Please advise!
Many Thanks,
James.
Edit: Installed Reaper kernel v.1.3 with boot.img included in the zip folder. Thanks rd74!
Don't use Tiamat 1.1.5 kernel with CM7.2 - it's outdated and no longer supported. It won't work as you expect. Try Reaper kernel v.1.3 from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322000
You can flash it through CWM or Ext4 Recovery.
What do you mean by "it's outdated and no longer supported"? Nevertheless, I want to have a try. How did you flash this kernel on previous CM ROM? I can't find the boot.img file as well. Please at least tell me something about that.
I posted the instructions to get the boot.img from Tiamat kernel some time ago. Please look it up, most likely in Q&A.

Recovery has to be flashed first.
then flash the tiamat kernel without wiping.
then enjoy your OverClock Kernel. Smoothy & Faster.

Flashing baseband through recovery

Am so so sorry to ask this question and i dont know if its proper to ask the question,is it possible to flash a baseBAND/radid through recovery.thanks in advance
New BasebandFix by adfad666
It is only temporary and you will have to flash it each time you flash a new baseband rom.
If you revert to a old baseband rom, no fix needed.
Thanks you really helped.hope it works for CM9 AND 10 and not only on CM7
