Hey guys, I created an Android website based on news and reviews. Please tell me what you think in terms of design and content, and if you have some constructive criticism, please share! I'm trying to always improve, so all feedback is important to me BUT NO FLAMING. I usually update the site with a new post everyday concerning news or ROM tutorials. Every weekend, I like to post extensive ROM reviews on the latest ROMs. You can check out the site at: http://www.androidsfinest.org/
Thanks!
I like it!
But that light green is a bit hard on the eyes over the light grey background (sidebar on the right and the header)
I have 20/20 vision and I have to strain to see it, lol , I imagine others would agree.
That green looks good on the darker grey, but on the light grey it's not working so well.
Nice job though, Looking good! :good:

Yes I would have to agree that the color scheme in some areas does cause eyestrain. I'll try to implement a darker shade of green in the header, and as for the sidebar I'll make the background a little darker to contrast the green. Thanks so much for your feedback!

Am i the only here who dislikes having dark colored themes??
i mean the very few out so far are great but just not my type i like bright colors and am still holding out until one comes out but just wondering if theres others like me who prefer Bright Colors over Dark colors???
Lol I figured this would happen, mostly every theme has been complete monotone, I was surprised to see some even go as far as washing out the colors from the icons - I mean that is just too far, it looks rather yucky lol
I love Manup's Nextheme. I enjoy it much more than the Stock colors. Its great that some of the stock widgets have a translucent background rather than the solid black. I'm not a fan of wild colors, especially since his theme goes so well with the phone!
I can't say the same for that black and white with the colorless icons, bad taste IMO.
When you start the app, at the xda splach screen is the bronze / red colour the same across the whole screen or is it like a gradient getting lighter towards the top left?
Just wondering if my screen is duff but maybe I'll be better downloading a screen test app.

No, nothing wrong with your screen for that reason. Just loaded xda and it does change shades from top to bottom.
If you think there's issue with the screen, google search for a photographic color calibration image, that should give you a good image to check with.
Thanks. I thought that was the case as I haven't seen this problem in any other apps or when using the phone normally. Still a relief to hear though!
no clue, i have set mine to DARK theme to safe power.
but when i look at a BLANK WHITE page, the 2 bottom corners just above the 4 soft buttons have a weird purplish gradient, which did not exist in Galaxy S
but that is due the Concave screen design
Mines on dark also but I'm talking about the splash screen that shows on starting the app - whether light or dark theme selected.
No such purple tint here.
The xda splash screen gradient looks a little banded because of the pentile sub pixel layout of the amoled screen. Nothing really wrong with your screen, that's just the way it is with these screens. It's a trade off.
Don't think I'm seeing banding, it's just the fact the xda splash screen tends to lighten as it gets to the top left of the screen.
From what others have said this seems normal though so. I'm not concerned.
Ah got it, I mis read. Yeah I think that's normal.
This is slightly off topic but relevant to the xda app. When I first view a new thread using the app, it always jumps either to the last page or a random page. Or if the thread is only one page long, it starts halfway down the thread. Again this is for new threads I've never viewed before. Anyone else experiencing this or know how I can fix this?
Thanks!

Yep seeing this too and never quite worked out the pattern / reason.
Don't worry about hijacking the thread, my question was answered long ago

on the Nexus S
i have a very nice and smooth dark brown to light brown gradient going from bottom right to top left
on the Galaxy S
the same gradient looks like chopped, chunky, banded, it's like looking at a picture in 16bit color (SGS) vs 32bit color (SNS)

That's interesting. I thought these used the same screen technology - samoled?

That's originally what I meant with my post cause I see the banding on my screen too. It should be identical since these screens are literally identical I believe.
that's what i would like to know as well.. i was left when i did the comparison
I am currently trying my hand at creating a CM7 Theme Chooser theme with a rainforest feel. What I'm not sure is whether I should make it greenish and design it like a bright and colorful forest in the daytime or make it blue and cast it as a night sort of feel.
I'll probably end up doing both at some point, but which should be done first? Blue is overwhelmingly the most popular color for visual overhauls so I'm inclined to make it that, but for a nature theme it seems like green would be more appropriate. So I figured I'd just see what would be more popular.
How about blue and green, too much of one color sucks, idk I think both are nature colors too
Both could be rad if done well. It's hard to pick without seeing them
There is a similar thread already, but the OP over there can't add a poll
Here is a poll , just for fun and the curiosity
Here you got a small video comparison till this beast hit the showrooms:
.
That video is what sold me on black. The horizontal bands don't appear to be as prominent as the grey was on the Note 2.
But you didn't vote

Yeah, I was going to get the white one until I seen that same video. The phone looks like color with the screen off, which I like.
I just think it's a shame, they didn't start with blue or red instead of that pink..
Perhaps they know better .... nah .......

It's only 12 votes so far, but I think the preference is already clear..
Can't imagine any other color catching up ....
.
I wish there was a grayish/silver color with a dark gray bezel, just like on my Titanium Note 2
But Jet Black will do ....
.
.
i went with the Jet Black as well...
Not a big fan of white phones, remind me of iphones and give apple fanboys another reason to say samsung copies apple. I wish samsung would do away with the white and do a nice slate/gray instead. Heck they got pink so why not....
My note 2 is white and i love it so note 3 also will be on white...
I had a white Note 2 and currently own a white S4 and white Galaxy Camera. I think they look really great but I fancy a change now and black looks better with the leather effect. I also think you get better screen contrast with the a black bezel.
I'm getting a black one.
Reason: It's black
I see that 5 ladies voted...
Just joking
.
Black for me. After seeing that video, I just think it looks better in black than in whit or pink.
The Galaxy Gear is Mocha Gray...
Since I am not in hurry of buying the Note3 ( eventually I will), I hope that till then there will be a Gray kinda of Titanium colored Note3 too ...
.
Black or darker bezels are way cooler
The back cover usually gets a case anyways
Does the black actually help to set the screen apart from the bezel as the video stated?
I'm really divided between black and white, and I'm trying to find a good reason to choose one over the other.

Black creates a better contrast against all the bright colors (this is why the display on white phones pop more when the screen is OFF). It makes the display pop more. The "black" however is not really a black. It's a darker grey-scale color than the titanium note 2, with the same horizontal striping but not as prominent. No doubt it will make the display pop more than white though. In light, the white is conceptually brighter than the display.
Im using comfort view round the clock because the yellow stainig seems to round out the natural blue tint of the display. Not sure what is more color accurate but my eyes adjust easier to the yellow tint. Lol! Funny i didnt think the cold hue screen would bother me.
Do you like the screen?
I use the comfort screen all day too
Me too! Its pleasing to the eyes.
Same here, switching now back to normal seems to have a blueish tint to it maybe the colours aren't calibrated right from the box...but comfort view just seems so normal now.

I don't have any blue tint. You must have a faulty display.

^Dont think its a faulty display just the colours arent calibrated accurate.

How come I don't have "blue tint" then? My whites are pure white.

LOL cuz your eyes adjust!
try sitting at a color-accurate monitor for a few hours or close to your tv then switch or compare side by side to another screen! if i go v20 i see it blue and feel my eyes need to adjust to the white. if the comfort view is on i feel my eyes adjust more quickly. if i view either without comparison they look normal but switch one to the other and comfort view looks more normal to me even though i know they intentionally mess it up for yellow!! haahhaa...
srsly tho, i dont think their panels have so much variance that you got accurate one and i didnt... but maybe that would sux. once again, only visible in comparison!
glad you like it! it's nice phone. not sure i understand the fetisch with locked bootloader but hey... whatevz. i\ll be happy if we oreo in april.
100% comfort view all day! Lol! Yes, the natural color calibration on the v20 feels cooler than usual but it's quite accurate in fact. The reason we feel this way is due to the immense number of AMOLED display panels on the market these days, which by nature, are MUCH warmer than any other panels. Not to mention over-saturated in their colors.
That also begs the question, is the color-accurate monitor, or TV you're using, an AMOLED, plasma or IPS LCD panel? haha (;
Either way, I enjoy comfort view too!
