stock rom no mods. phone shuts down randomly mainly seems to happen when waking out of sleep mode. only way to restart is with battery pull. any ideas on cause or a way to log what is phone is doing as to narrow problem down.

Hey guys I notice sometimes one every month or so when I turn off my phone (standby mode, not hard or soft reset) the phone is still on however its a black background (backlight)
What causes this error to happen? the only way for me to get rid of the backlight issue is by pulling out the battery and turning it back on.
i am having the same issue and it is draining the battery! i hope someone figured this one out

I have a sensation running the latest RCmix3d ROM. I know it has some bugs as it's not a stable version yet, but the biggest one is the inability to turn my phone off. Any time I press the power button and power off, the screen goes blank and then does a fastboot back on again. There's no HTC down animation or anything. It's as if I hit the hot reboot button (a full restart and hot restart options do the same thing as power off too).
I can only turn the phone off by removing the battery. I don't like doing this because I'm pretty sure it can't be good for the phone or battery. I have no idea what's causing this and it's very irritating as there are times when I need to turn my phone off.
Was there an issue with the flashing process, or is it a known bug in the ROM? Any help would be appreciated!
I've noticed after upgrading my phone to android 4.4.2 that leaving the phone alone for more than 2 minutes and turning it on again, there is a delay in turning the screen on. Is there anyone else with this problem? A fix?
I'm currently unrooted, but whenever I shut down my phone while charging, it tends to reboot by itself again. I then have to shut it down again before it shows the battery screen. Did anyone else have this?

Yesterday the phone did not wake me up, holding the power button it directly booted up again, just like it was turned off.
The battery was charged at 55% and there was no update in recent days, so I doubt its a software issue.
The same happened today as well... This is starting to bother me.
Is there any way to find out why it shut down ?
Don't know how to help you with finding out what causes the shut down but I'd check the "planned shut down/turn on" option in battery settings. Even if that's not it you can try to use it to force the phone on before your alarm goes off.
