So here is my story i hope you can help me avoid the samsung service...
USB port had stop working about 3 motnhs ago,it was only used to charge the battery,i couldnt use it for usb mass storage mode,that was ok by me cause i didn't have problem using BT to transfer my files,so i didn't really search what's the problem..
Until yesterday that suddenly i decided to change my kernel...new kernel(matrix 23.5 cfs) didn't work and now i am stuck in the google logo because i can't transfer files through usb to transfer new kernel/rom to flash it and fix it...
my bad i didn't put the old kernel and the rom zip in the sd before flashing the new kernel but i didn't imagine that it won't work
So,is there any solution for this?? the only thing i could thought is to export the sd card and put it in card reader(i can take the risk to open the phone parts) or to just change the usb..
ps.i can access recovery/bootloader

Did you try buying a new cable? I had the same issues with two of the phones. Bought a quality cable and now both are working again.

yes ive tried several cables,i am pretty sure the usb port is the problem anyone know the cost to change it? maybe its the simples solution after all...
ps.atm the phone is dead,i changed kernel without backing up the old one and now i cant even open it...stucked at the google logo... :/ :/ :/

My sdcard shows up that its working on my phone but i cant get into my sdcard from my computer. adb says there is no device..i am trying to push a couple of .zips and apk's to install but it wont allow me to this because my phone doesnt show up. Any solutions?
Did you install the LG drivers?
yes, my lg drivers are installed. i was able to push apps just last week. idk what happend.

When I plug my phone into the computer it actually shows up as two separate removable discs. The SD card is removable E and the phone is removable F. Hope this helps.

Make sure USB debugging is enabled. For whatever reason, on both android phones I've owned, my computer could only pick up sd cards with it enabled.
Second thought, if you're using a custom kernel, sometimes it can break USB. I remember morfic's kernel broke it back when I used Bionix 2
I had this problem a few days ago after I flashed the Trigger 2.3.4 gb rom coming from Ultimate 2.2 froyo rom..When I'd plug in my usb and try to mount the SD cards the phone would say the cards are mounted (even the icons for apps installed on the sd would go generic as if they were mounted) but the drives wouldn't show up on my pc for some reason. I never had that problem before so it drove me nuts until I finally got it resolved but for me it was multiple problems..Like the guy before me said always make sure usb debugging is turned on and this may or may not apply to you but if turning on usb debugging doesn't fix it get the LG update tool and install the drivers from inside there because they are the most current ones..I thought mine were the most current because I even redownloaded the drivers on LG's support site but those aren't the most current ones. Anyway hope this helps someone avoid the nightmare I went through!

Have you check on Storage Setting ( Settings > Storage > SD card) either the SDCard already mounted (if mounted it will show Unmount SD card if not it will state mount SD card).
If it mounted and you have Custom Recovery try boot to Recovery and try mount and see if it working on Recovery. If not it maybe your cable/micro SD card/computer have problem.
If it not working check the ROM page either they have support this feature or not, or maybe you have to reflash the ROM again.
I think it was the shizilon v41 I flashed and maybe picked something wrong. Because a reinstalled the from and it back working. Kinda strange. I don't know what happened really. But I fixed it. Thanks

I have the same problem.
I am on Android Revolution 6.6.3. and have been for quiet some time. Never had any problems. Until a few days ago all of a sudden:
1. The pop up option for charge or diskdrive dissappeared when plugging in the cable
2. The icon in the drop down menu has also dissappeared
The strange thing is:
- The phone however IS charging.
- I tried a different cable; same result
- I tried 3 different computers (winx64, winx32 and apple) same result
- I did the total disassemble (remove battery and sd card) and reassemble
- I can acces my SD card in my phone; it is working ok
- Settings are set for automatic connect as diskdrive
- I did not install any app that has to do with performance of SD card or stuff like that
Don't know what to do anymore: anobody got a clue???
For the first time something like that happened to me the other day... What I did was change ports, then I wiggled the USB connections, mine were not connecting as they should, once I did that it finally recognised it, but I think it's in the cable..... So after I reconnected and wiggled port connections it poped up. Tells me I need a new USB.again........this is my second USB I'm a short time. Sometimes they go bad. Perhaps this is your problem too? Fiddle with it and see if connection is the problem. Hope this helps in some way

i did an CWM update and m unable to install stuff from the SD card.

i have a similar problem...................
i have stupidly installed aurora V3 screen patch .zip for aurora instead of the ADVANCE ii patch .zip and now i have a white screen which i cannot see anything. :-S
I also have NO mini usb port, i damaged it weeks ago when i dropped tablet off my desk while being plugged in.and the port had snapped pins so i totally removed the otg port and have been using extsd to install my stuff...but now i cannot see the screen to do anything.
What my question is is....CAN WE BOOT OR RESTORE FROM THE EXTSDcard with novo 7 advanced 2?
I have read on another site that the aurora, fire and some other ainol tablets can do this i read something about putting uboot and some other files into extsd and it will do a system format then install new os upon totally on its own without any user input.
This maybe done by a.script being activated from the extsd on startup but im not sure.
I even went and bought a miniHDMI lead to see if i could see the sxreen on my tv. But the firmware probably doesnt support hdmi output because my tv shows " no signal"
Like i said any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a good day for me at all I installed one of the latest Stock Odexed ROM. Then for some reason I wanted to reinstall it so went to Touch v6.0.1.5 recovery and wiped everything without taking nandroid back up as I was 100% sure that I have all my different ROMs in my external card. Then after wiping the device when I went to my external card to install the ROM I found nothing in there !!! Total phone wiped out !!! Now cant even go to Download Mode to install a ROM using odin. Tried adb reboot download but still No luck. Cant go to download mode. May be my USB cable or PC has issues, wont detect my phone right now every time I want to go to download mode it goes to recovery mode. Hence cant install any ROM. Please help !!!
I also installed the Samsung USB driver but still my PC wont detect my phone.
My device is Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket.
You help is highly appreciated.

If you can still access recovery just DL another ROM and flash it. I must be missing something here. Is the phone usable?
Most likely it's the OP that's missing something, being in panic.
OP, get an SD card, load any ROM on it, insert it into your phone, boot to recovery, install ROM, profit.

Smart idea !!! I am so dumb, this idea didnt come to my head But currently cant do it because there is no way I can access (read/ write) the Micro SD card so that I can trasfer a ROM there and install it by going to the recovery. Any idea? I dont have the card reader.

Thanks buddy but the problem is I cant access my Micro USB Card. The phone doesnt boot and gets stuck at the SAMSUNG logo.
In both TWRP and CWM recoveries you have "Mount USB storage" option.
Connect your phone to PC with USB cable, use that option, and copy the ROM right on your USB storage.
Or grab a card reader for $1 from eBay To have one just in case. Or use any other phone (family/friends) for copying the ROM on the SD card. So many options...

Never heard of having recovery but not download.... Sure you don't have a usb cable/connection problem?

just bought a micro usb card reader/ writer and was able to transfer ROMs to my external USB card. Now installing the ROM. Thanks so much again!

He most probably has a problem with USB port - requiring some cleaning (and hopefully nothing more). Likely one of the data (D+/D-) pins isn't connecting.

As you guys suggested - I am cleaning the USB Drivers. usbdview looks a pretty handy tool didnt know about this one. Download ADT and Google USB driver. Will try it out soon.
But now my phone is back to its' life Thanks so much to all of you !!! I dont know how it formatted both the sdcard and external storage !!!Any idea? Can a ROM do this? (well fortunately I backed up all my files from the Micro SD last night)

Jack_R1 - what is the best way to clean the USB port? I will keep you posted if driver clean up and re-installation helps to detect the phone or not.
Toothpick and gently going over all contacts inside the socket.
Prying up on the prong ever so gently(it really don't take much) with a toothpick worked for me. Although now that I think about it, the toothpick may have just helped clean it ^^^

I have been trying for a week now to transfer about 14gigs of comics to my my Tablet/ 4.4.2 CM 11 5/22/14 version nightly. I have tried every method but it still gives me Unable to write to disk. I'm trying to Synch it from my computer to the Tablet with BtSync but each time no matter what method I try it does it every time. I have tired sdfix for kit kat I have tried handle external storage xposed I have tried doing it manually still no dice. I tried directly from computer to Tablet with usb cable but it keeps telling me that I have to skip files eventually It will stop. I really need your help guys I don't know what to do I have looked through the forums but each method doest help me please help me.
I feel like giving up nothing has worked so far. I'm new to this sort of stuff .

You're not going to be able to transfer 14 gigs of anything to your tablet. You need to put those on an external micro sd card and run it from there. These tabs are only 8/16 G to start and KK and other stuff uses a few of them.

Are you trying to load it straight from your computer to the card? If so, try to reformat it, and try again. If all else fails, get yourself a new one. They do fail from time to time. Mine did a few months back, got a fresh one and bam all good.

Other things can be saved to the Micro Sd smaller files are transferble but, the second I try to move my comics it dosent work keeps showing the same message/

What should I format the SD card to? Should I use cwm formating tool?
