[Q] how to update on stock rooted? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

would someone tell me if there is a way to accept the newest update? I have never used Odin and my bootloader is locked. Is there a zip file I can flash or do I have to revert back to stock to accept the update? A detailed guide would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance

section 6 of my guide...odin back to f2 or g1, then ota to latest. although since your rooted, unlock bootloader, flash cwm, then flash scroslers ultra clean g7 base.

Returning Recovery to Stock?

I'd like to turn my recovery back to stock. I'm currently running 4.2.1 stock rom with TWRP 2.5. I'd like to get the original recovery back and reverse root. It's ok if the bootloader is unlocked.
Can I just flash the original firmware and it will remove root and return the recovery to normal?
I have the TF300T-US_10_6_1_15_3-UpdateLauncher.zip file downloaded for that purpose...just want to make sure.
Any help is much appreciated - I searched but only found info on other devices.
That should work (follow this guide here), but you can't relock the firmware yet.

Download this full stock firmware http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 then use Odin to flash, once done take the OTA and it should be fine. BTW, once upgrade to 4.3 your bootloader will be locked permanently meaning you can't flash custom firmware (rom/kernel/recovery), the only thing you can do is root with saferoot. can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758

If you still want to install custom firmware then DO NOT TAKE THE 4.3 OTA UPGRADE. If you decided to flash custom rom then after flash stock MF1, you need to unlock bootloader, root, flash recovery then flash custom rom (most custom rom already rooted so you probably don't need to root). Your phone status will be CUSTOM.

Haviing only used Odin when I initially rooted my phone a year ago, I need to ask some specifics on your instructions.
1. Do I boot the phone into Download mode when flashing?
2. Do I flash it by selecting the PDA box and selecting the file there?
3. This will make my phone basically "out of the box" and back to stock recovery, correct?
Thanks in advance.

The stock root rom is probably the most stable one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2591895 just follow the instruction on this link.

I have an s-on ruu posted for 4.4.4 that doesnt wipe data. It's in exe form so it's very easy to run. After that flash your twrp and make a stock backup. Then flash away....
If we have s-off and are unlocked will it do any harm to just accept the ota from Verizon?

No harm at all provided you are on stock recovery and haven't modified system in any way.

[Q] Help upgrading to KKBL. OTA or Flash?

Hi,
It's been years that I've been living with the XT925 on CM11 JBBL and as I've been following latest developments on CM 12.1 and want to give it a try.
I've been searching for the past week on how to safely perform the bootloader upgrade so I can flash CM12.1. As it turns out there is a lot of disperse information on how to do it, followed by scary cases of soft bricked devices.
Current device status:
- Bootloader Unlocked
- Rooted
- CM11 M12 JBBL
- Everything works fine
What I already know:
- I have to Unroot my device
- Need to flash stock 4.1.2
- Must check if everything works once in stock
What I need help:
- Should I download OTA via the stock firmware?
- Should I flash stock recovery?
- Should I perform the update from the device or should I extract the OTA and change something and then flash it manualy?
- Is there any tutorial that I should've found on my searches?
On a sidenote: is there any chance of my bootloader to be relocked and/or loose any chance of future root access due to the OTA?
I believe that as people realise that CM12.1 is stable some noob friendly thread to the ancient JBBL's out there would be much apreciated.
Thanks in advance!
If I were you, I would just flash straight to KK with RSD or House of Moto. If you go this route, you won't need to flash back or reinstall stock recovery. Flashing the FXZ will reinstall stock recovery, but if you use House of Moto you can use an option to flash aftermarket recovery. Flashing shouldn't relock your boot loader, either.

In order to flash straight to KK I need to obtain it via OTA download while in Stock JB.
I haven't found any KK image laying arround, so this might be the only route.
Any other advices will be much apreciated RikRong.
Can you find the firmware on MotoFirmware.com, when it's actually up?
Try this: http://motofirmware.center/files/

Flash stock PIE via TWRP NOT ODIN

Hello. Is it possible to flash the stock Pie Rom from Sammobile through TWRP? i now have Hadesrom which is PIE also, but i want to revert to Stock PIE. And in Odin i get error when i try to flash. The device is OEM unlocked. I believe it is a bootloader error, but i don't know how to repair it. The rom i want to install is the official one for my phone. Any idea would be appreciated. Thank you.
