Hey guys, its been a while since I've been on the Forums, but I am having a hell of a time finding a concrete answer:
Is there any way, whether it is via a mod, ROM, or kernel change, to charge a device that is plugged in to the Samsung USB adapter?
I am going on a very long hike, and I'd love to be able to trickle charge my Note with the Tab Plus's much larger battery.
Hmmm let me get this straight. U wanna charge ur galaxy note from ur tabs battery? Well if that's the case then I don't think there is any mod rom or kernel floating out there that will give u that function. You are better off either buying a second battery and having it fully charged or buy one of those portable chargers? Or sense ur gonna be out in the open, why not build a mini solar panel charger for ur note and keep it on the back of ur bag. Ive done it before its not as good as charging with ur normal charger but it sure does the job. Hope this strange idea helped u out!

Hi to u devs
Like the title says iam looking for a kernel that support fast charge and undervolting.
I read somewhere that with cm9 on the tab10.1 it was possible to charge the tab fast with a computer via fast charge.
There is hardware for this that cost some euro, so a software solution would be great and u can get money for this.
Additional a mod for a fast charge toggle would be it
Undervolting is only a cherry pick and not needed so much.
Thanks in advance
Next time post this in q&a not in development. Also fast charge on this tab would be pointless since a USB port would not be possible to output enough power to charge the tab even with the mod

Ofcause a usb 2 port has enough power!
U can try a samsung charger with 1A and it will charge the tab with 1A! I tried it with my galaxy nexus charger.
The problem is that they changed some connections in the usb port, but seems to can be changed back with a kernel mod.
Thread moved to Q&A section. Please read our rules.

you must have a magical tablet to fast charge with 1 amp.
Hi guys,
My friend recently got a Note II. It comes bundled with official Samsung charger with output capacity of 5V ~2A. Just wanted to ask if it is safe to charge our phone using the high capacity charger?

not sure but i would prefer you not to use it.
the higher current output would surely decrease he battery life.
your touchscreen might get messed up while charging (if that happens then surely don't do it)
and in worst case, the battery might blast...
I use an HTC charger (because of the very good and practical structure of usb cable and charger) the output of which is 5V and 1A compared to Samsung's 0.7A. Normally it will not brick your phone and it'll even charge faster because of the higher amount of electricity delivered through the cable. By the definition of performance (which is the energy delivered in a unit of time), you see that the higher the electric current is, the higher the performance is. I'm sure that the battery and device will heat up. So all in all, you can try it as the voltage output is the same, but be aware! And keep an eye on the temperature!

That is one hell of an analysis!:good:
Thanks a lot Adam. I'll try charging with an eye on temp.

Lols.. I m surrounding with Sony, LG, HTC & my own Note 2 handset. but I usually charged from everybody's charger. But yes Adam did lots of research & as he said when I charge my mobile using Note 2 charger, it get charged fast then R's one. so, thinking to keep only Note 2 charger now.

Here goes my observations, I used Note II charger to charge R. It does charge faster than the stock charger. Also, as adam said, phone got little heated up too.
Offtopic: I did my bachelors in electronics. I asked the question coz I didn't bother to know about hardware internals and wanted to know if there's some overcharge protection built in...
Thanked you for the thought about electronics. Cheers!

No, I go to a class which specialises in maths and physics. I'm interested in electronics and do researches mainly in free time. It's one of the best parts of physics for me.

Hi anyone know of a Powerbank that has enough juice to charge Tab S 8.4 while at the same time using it?
I have tried some power banks and the Tab drains faster than charging
Look for the anker astro E3 10000mAh at amazon.com, it's about 26 bucks
I want to recommend the RAVPower® 14000mAh!
Using romoss power bank, 10k mah. Cost around$ 20
I would recommend one of the Ruinovos power banks that use standard 18650 batteries, see this one, for example, http://www.fasttech.com/product/1340304-ruinovo-401-1a-2-1a-4-18650-dual-usb-mobile-power
Try get the Xiaomi powerbank, 10400 Mah and costs quite cheap. i think it's around $10-12

I have Anker Astro3 and highly recommend it.
Look at unu, 50%charge in 15 mins and full in 30

I recommend LimeFuel battery packs if you want something with at least 80% usable MAH. The electronics in a battery pack take power to run. From what ive read, LimeFuel battery packs have at least 80% "efficiency."
24000MAH
15600 MAH
There may be other offerings with that 80%+ efficiency, but LimeFuel was the only brand i could find 6 months ago.
I had and tested a lot of batteries, and I can tell that the Xiaomi Powerbank is a cheap but working product. However, if you want to have a high quality battery that charges every USB device at fullspeed, look at the 2nd Gen Anker Astro3.
I got this one and it is great! Charges fast, and enough to give you a full charge

Been using Xiaomi for 3 days now, its 10400mah but it cant fully charge your Tab S when in use. The most I got was just an additional 30% of battery usage. This is surfing, youtube, facebook and gmail. Still happy since its cheap but was surprise it couldn't fully fill the battery despite it being 2x the battery capacity.
I do have this dilemma now about the powerbanks with the tab S. I'm using a 10.5 and now after searching thoroughly I can't find any that's legitimately compatible with the tab S and of course the 8.4 and the 10.5 should be the same when it comes to powerbanks. Even checked the Samsung 9000mah and it's compatibility, the tab s isn't on the list whereas the notes are and older tablets, so I'm stuck in this problem and very paranoid as I love this tablet and I don't wanna get just any brand that will work, I don't want it to mess up my tablet and affect any of its function. I'm not so good with the technical details about the volts and inputs and outputs, maybe someone out there could enlighten me with this cause I need help. I'm currently eyeing a romoss 10000mah powerbank but it doesn't state it's full compatibility and I'm skeptical about getting it. Any help and findings would be deeply appreciated. I need to get a powerbank for my tab S 10.5 and don't know what to get as all this compatibility seems so vague and there seems to be no legitimate answer. Why couldn't Samsung include the tab S or even make powerbanks for specific models that would work and the tab S is left out because it didn't sell good due to wrong timing but a great device. If anyone could help because I need a powerbank asap.

Hi I would suggest this one as it has the same output as official samsung charger: Amazon
and currently its 70% off and has 14,000 mah capacity BUT it does say not compatible with samsung Tab series but I really don't believe that...
- Output1 : DC 5.3V / 2100mA and DC5.3v / 1000mA

Thank you, but it shows not compatible with the Galaxy tab series and there must be a reason for that and I wouldn't wanna risk it but thanks for the reply anyway.

I think I will buy one of them myself for my HTC One M8 and will test it on Tab S and let you know :good:
Would appreciate that thank you. For the moment I'm looking at Samsung power banks and still sketchy as it doesn't say it's compatible with the tab S on the website, it's just stressful that there's no straight answer about the compatibility with the tab S, and even others say Universal, what does that really mean if you place that In a spectrum? Nothing specific about it.

Definitely will when I get the chance.

Chatted with Samsung and no luck but anyway I've finally got one, the Samsung 9000mah seems to be the most reliable one and on Android central it's listed for the tab S so I'll just stick with that, just ordered it and now my mind is at ease. I'll let you guys know how it works once I get it.
