Hello.
I just read in some websites that the update 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1 is have the Quick Settings in the notifications bar . I already update my phone but I didn't find it.
Software information
Android version
4.0.4
Sense version
4.1
Software number
2.17.415.2
Its Middle East version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eK8dICxSAA
another Q
I need an easy way to root for only some apps that is required roo
Is this OK?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahSp_MHWITM
I don't understand your second point...
Are you asking to root certain apps? That's it? If that's the case, no. Root is a device wide procedure.
I thought Quick Settings wasn't in Sense 4.1 by default and was added in by the ROM devs here.

The new firmware is having lots of issue.

Being in india, I think you must purchase it from HTC shop and not tie up with any mobile carrier hopefully.
If so then FYI HTC support center are having very bad response to their customers.
I prefer not to update Firmware unless it is too much necessary. Atleast not this on 2.3.5.
Will have to wait for ICS if available in future.
As far as I know you shouldn't have any problems when updating to 2.3.5.
You'll enjoy an even better experience.
Why don't you go the custom way? We already have android 4.0.3 with sense 4 for our device .

Mate, that update 1.47 was still 2.3.3, but just system enhancements and bug fixes.
2.10 was the 2.3.5 update. Initially it did have some power menu bugs, but the latest version (which I suspect is the one pushed to your phone) is 2.10.9 which is the latest versions without any bugs.

I am from India and my current software version is :
Android version: 2.3.3
HTC sense: 2.1
Baseband: 20.281.30.085Au_xxxx
Software Number : 1.47.720.1
When I connected WiFI and check for the new software it showing that New version is available 2.3.5 and HTC sense 3.0 .
So is that fully bug free update? Shall I do it or not? Please share if you did it . Thanks in advance.
No, it's not the latest, but it's the big one. Their should be another two minor updates available after you applied this one(mail app, etc).
You can easily do it, but you have to keep in mind that it will change your hboot version and it will be more harder(not imposible) for you to S-OFF and flash custom roms.
Okay thanx for reply. But I am asking is their any issue like some member reply in above ? I an not interested in rooting or any s off. Just wanna know the issues of new software.

Hi Oly,
It seems to be good.
I thought like samsung, htc is also giving whole firmware in OTA updates. But as per your feedback I think they give only patches step by step.
My HTC Desire is currently running, 1.30.110.2 with HTC sense 2.1 and Android 2.3.3
Its S-Off and T-Mobile Carrier break to use any SIM. Means when device boots up it shows T Mobile logo but I can use Indian Mobile carriers.
In mine device it is showing 1.47.110.3 Software update. I google it and found so many complaints with this update so not updating it.
I am currently facing battery indicator issue of Question mark in notification on battery as well some time network issue.
If I update to 1.47.110.3 and after that HTC didn't give me 2.3.5 update then I will stuck to a buggy Firmware.
Really confused about it.
Its not possible to update device directly to 2.3.5 ?
As well if I use OTA updates then do I need to again break carrier of T-Mobile to use Indian carriers ?
Thanx in advance.

Both updates (the 1.47 and the 2.10 to Sense 3) worked fine for me, in spite of some nervous waiting while the phone rebooted.
The only software issue I have is that the Sense 3.0 launcher seems unable to stay resident in RAM for long (this is also a problem with other Sense 3.0 devices, like the Sensation), with the result that very often when you return to the Home screen, you'll see the launcher restarting and have to wait about half a minute before it's reloaded. During this time, you cannot do anything with the phone (though it may let you answer calls - I don't know). This is enough of a nuisance that I have abandoned the Sense launcher and now use a 3rd party one instead (Go Launcher Ex).
The update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 did fix a long-standing issue I had with the original 2.3.3/Sense 2.1 firmware - switching to a different keyboard used to make the launcher unresponsive to touch input: the power, volume and home buttons worked, but it was impossible to launch apps or use widgets, and only rebooting returned things to normal.
That issue has gone away with the updated firmware.
Hey guys,
Well I managed to backup my 2.3.5 OTA using EZ Explorer and here's the full OTA filename string:
OTA_Saga_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.15.720.3-1.47.720.1_release_226973bog7qzt28g73mf43
am from India 2 and still on 2.3.3 rooted/s-off standingby for stable ICS release hee..
Can any one help me how to install India's stock rom in desire s ?
I am currently running T-mobile UK Rom s-off.
I need indian Stock rom which can run any service provider SIM card.
I recently upgraded my HTC One X to Android 4.0.4 and HTC Sense 4.1. But there seems to be a mismatch between the version number being displayed for HTC Sense.
If I go to "Settings > About > Software information" then it shows HTC Sense version as 4.1.
If I go to "Settings > Apps > All (tab) > HTC Sense" then it shows version number as 3.5.
Is this normal? Are these version numbers different? I didn't check this version number before so I don't know what was its original value.
I guess it's normal. Mine shows sense 3.5 under "apps" and sense 4 under "about". Not sure why its that way though.

Ok, mine says 4.0 also on Android 4.04, but in 4.0 you could not get rid of the 3 button menu thing at the bottom of the screen. With the 4.1 update you can go into Display, gestures & buttons then Recent apps button and it will give you 3 choices. 2 of them will get rid of the 3 button menu at the bottom of your screen. The 2 choices moves the menu button down to the recent apps button. From what I can tell that is the only difference between 4.0 & 4.1.

I was about to say that too. I'm on 4.04 and have sense 4.0. I thought htc wasn't going to release 4.1 until December sometime.

Unless it was updated and the only thing they changed was Recent app button choices and just kept it at 4.0. I know when I first got the phone the 3 button thing drove me up a wall and I was reading on another forum that with 4.1 you could get rid of the buttons by going into Display, gestures and buttons to change it. So I tried it and it worked. Some apps appear a little stretched but that's it.
Was it an official update or just a custom Rom? Maybe the custom Rom is just a hack of things.

It was an official update. I have not rooted the phone or installed any custom ROM. Also after the update the UI seems to be a bit sluggish.

Is your update also officially from HTC, I mean your phone is not rooted and no custom ROMs?
Maybe HTC forgot to update some of their strings?

It must be that they updated it and didn't change the number because I can get rid off the 3 buttons at the bottom. And I'm on sense 4.0

No my phone is not rooted. I'm on 2.20 and at this point there is no root available.
Hey guys,
I have the latest official OTA Update for my HTC One S on Bell.
Version 1.84.666.9
Sense 4.0 instead of 4.1 tmobile version
Android 4.0.3
I do not have the possibility to change the Recent apps button.
I would like to stay on stock rom just to avoid flashing rom updates and deal with glitches.
Should I just wait it out for jellybean or should I change my CID to something else?
Help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Are you rooted? There are mods that you can flash on the stock ROM that will remap the recent apps button. Look here. Otherwise there is no way to natively remap the buttons without sense 4.1.
Thanks!
Will I still get the possibility to update or not? To jelly bean or what not..

Hello I want update my android version from 4.0.1 to latest my phone is att one x and firmware is 2.20 rooted.I don't want to install or flash any ROM just want to update android version. Additional info. My CID is SUPER CID because I changed it while root process. Another question do I get auto update? Thanks.
From what I understand there is great risk flashing the OTA when you're Cid is changed. You can try manually changing the Cid back and flashing.. I have not done this myself. May or may not work. I would wait for your rom of choice to incorporate the latest update changes..

The problem is that i have never flashed a ROM. Because I like sense interface. As far as I know due to the discussions on forum there is no
substitute for sense in aspect of camera. And there is always bugs on ROMs.
A majority of our roms are sense jb with no bugs at all ..go. check out viper xl or clean Rom jb or hatka or the other great roms we have
I'm using UrDroid JellyBean, which is as close to a stock JellyBean ROM as it gets. I'm not even sure he modified anything, to be honest.

Does having a custom Rom enable me to download more apps then the standard default.
For example my HTC desire s used to be 2.3.5 and I couldn't get 4od but when I upgraded to android 4 I can now get it

I'm not sure if having a custom ROM will enable you to get more apps directly, but it will most likely help with performance, and might make rooting your device a lot easier. Be sure to do a backup and make sure you have everything in order ahead of time, if you decide to try it.

Yes and no. Some aps have ceased support for versions higher than 4.0, like app2sd. Also since 4.0, there is no adobe flash support.
However, some other apps have dependencies on newer androids and therefore using a custom rom might enable them to you.
In essence, it depends.
Haha, you got the desire S. I was nearly going to buy that phone.
yes it did :good:
