[Q] TF700 Jelly Bean Update & SanDsik 64gb External Card - Asus Transformer TF700

Since upgrading to Jelly Bean, whenever I insert my external 64gb Sandisk card, my infinity acts really erratic i.e, slow responses, won't download any apps from Google Play store, disables Quick Setting Panel, just to name a few. Whenever I remove it, my infinity runs as smooth as silk.
Everything worked great when I have ICS... Only started with the JB upgrade.
Is anyone else having any issues with JB and 64g external card??? Anyone heard of any known problems with 64g and JB upgrade working together???

I have a SanDisk 64gb and everything works fine.
Try formatting it on a PC (fat 32) to see if that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I may have a defected card ??? I don't rightly know.
I have had it formatted as exFat and NTFS and that didn't solve the problem. I wiped it clean with no music, movies or ebooks on it, reinserted it in slot and I still have the same issues.. Once I remove it, everything works flawless..
Since you're not having any problems, it must be the card. I did upgrade to JB with it still in the tablet, so maybe during that one in a million chances, it may have corrupted the card during the upgrade. I had no problems with the card before the upgrade. Only afterward..
I have a friend who live a couple of counties over who has an infinity, I will drive over and insert it in his Tab and see if the problems follow the card. If it does, then I will know that the card has been corrupted..

Update..Okay, the troubles followed my card to my buddy's TF700...So the problem is the card.
I read in a forum (somewhere) that some of the TF700s (not all of them, but some) are having problems with the Class 10 card (SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1) after the Jelly Bean update. They all worked well under ICS but once they upgraded to JB, some of them had problems. Like I said, I read this somewhere on one of the forums. ....Just a little FYI...Hopefully, Asus will come up with an update to rectify the problem

Exactly this one does not work reliably in my TF700 in the microSD slot, but it works in the dock SD slot with an adapter.

I bought a pair of these for my 64 GB Infinity - both work. Haven't tried them for dlpkg b/c, well, I'm fine right now, no issues with my system I suspect they will not work for that.

It won't work from fastboot at all.
I have the same card and its fine as exfat, fat or NTFS. I prefer a journaled filesystem so I use NTFS.

Good thing I kept a slow 2 GB card around for emergencies

Ah, OK, that makes more sense.
The recovery can't access MS proprietary filesystems like NTFS and exFAT, but it should work with any card formatted with FAT32 (or ext4, which might need to be mounted manually).

[Q] Transformer won't read Transcend Class 6 MicroSD Card.

Here's the situation:
I've been using the Transcend Class 6 Microsd Card since I got my transformer.
5 minutes ago I took it out and connected it to my Macbook Pro to upload some comics. I put it back into my transformer and now it won't detect it at all.
I put in a Transcend 1gb card into my transformer, and it works flawlessly.
When I try my 16gb card, it still doesn't read.
What the hell?

No it didn't. I simply dragged and dropped 3 .cbr files into the memory card.
I'm going to return it to Amazon and order a 32gb card instead (not class 6).
Did you try rebooting it ? My transcend 16 did the same and it worked with a reboot

I'll give it a shot... But I think ill get a refund anyway and get a 32gb Class 6 instead.
I have 50 dollar store credit with Amazon so the memory card will cost me 22 bucks
(Sorry I can't post links yet)
Nope. Reformatting the 16gb Microsd doesn't work.
I'll just return it.

[Q] 64gb micro sd in a samsung galaxy tab2 10.1

Hey guys, just bought the new Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 with the micro .sd card slot. I was wondering if any one knows if the tablet takes 64.gb and if not what can i do to make that work. Thank you for your help.
Some people have reported that it will take a class 10 64GB complete with screenshots.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
they say it only takes the 32GB, but if I find that it really can take a 64GB card I might have to do an upgrade.
Just reformat it in Windows if it doesnt work
Yes 64gb works very well, but i have to format in my sgs2 before

Formatted the sdxc on an LG phone and reformed it on the sgt.Igot it to work on my sgt 2 10.1 but nothing is saving to the external drive . Everything still goes to the internal drive
Everything automatically saves to the internal memory i don't have an option to save to external. I can actually move them to my external but that hassle.

I just just got a sgt 2 10.1 and concider to buy the sdxc, but did you manage to get it to work? Can you save to the card? Appreciate all advice.
Yes, 64GB cards work in this tablet. I bought this one and I am using it now:
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobile-MicroSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B005V7WIA2/
And yes, you can write to it as well.
BUT...note that it will not work out of the box. It is pre-formatted in a way that is incompatible with the tablet. And the tablet will not format it for you, even though it will offer to.
However, if you reformat it with the VFAT filesystem in a computer first, it will work fine in the tablet. I used Linux's "mkfs" utility to do this.
I'm interested in this too...13 + 32GB of usable data isnt enough.
And LavaJoe, any idea how we could do that without Linux?

Hello there, I'm using Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" too..
my problem is the same with yours. (I bought the 64GB one, SanDisk)
I don't have any other Android device to format it, I might have to borrow my friends' device.
I'd like to ask whether the SDXC card will automatically works on the tablet if the size is compatible or not..
I mean, will it saves files, music, games, applications, etc to the external storage? (If the size is compatible)
because you said that we can move them, but we have to move them manually..
I could use any kind of suggestions and helps here..
by the way, I'm new here..
Anyone succeeded in using a SDHC 64 GB (not sdxc) card in it?
Any hint is welcome... & thanks in advance,

Sorry, but the only 64gb card the s2 10.1 tab will take is the standard micro card .If you put in a sdxc1..it WILL work but ONLY up to 32gb,then it will almost certainly lock and you might not be able unlock it..or reformat it even in a computer

So, I was just playing around with it. It seems that CM11 is supporting exFAT file system with our tablet. Therefore my 64GB microSDXC is working right after formatted from within Windows 7 on exFAT.

Micro SD Card List

Guys,
I am reading through a few of the threads, and some detailing specifically with the SD cards, and the information is sporadic and spread out.
Can we get a thread that is updated with a list of cards known for working?
Name of card, size, etc.?
I am searching for a card to get with my TF700 when I order it from Amazon, but I can't seem to nail down which cards actually work after the firmware update. I am positive I am not the only one.
_______________________________________________________________________
WORKING
SanDisk 32 GB class 4
WinTeck 32 GB class 10
Sandisk MicroSDHC Ultra 64gb class 6 works after firmware update. Both in docking and tablet.
SanDisk 32GB class 4 HC (graphite color)
Sandisk Extreme 32GB SDHC class 10 in the slot formatted exFAT.
ADATA 32GB class 10 microSDHC
The following cards work with .22 firmware
1 GB no name, made in china
2 GB san disk
4 GB san disk class 2
NOT WORKING
SanDisk Ultra 16GB class 10 HC (red/gray)
This is the card i have, a 64gb.

My issue is, even after the update, when copying or moving items to it, my device freezes. I have this card in the tablet. Prior to the update, i had it in the dock. Reason being, movies wouldnt play from it when it was in the tablet. Since the update, the movies now play great. But copying/moving is now an issue. I havent see anyone else report this yet. Btw, the card is formatted at NTFS.

Cool.
If we get enough responses, I will start listing them on the first post.
Let me know how that one works.
Ok, so I started keeping a list in the first post (we only have one so far).
So if anyone has ones they tried and worked, or ones that did not, lets post them and I will get them on the top page tonight.
Hopefully this will help everyone with their purchase, and even give Asus (Gary) something to go from.
Any 64gb card guys out there?
I am currently using a SanDisk 32 GB class 4 but also have a WinTeck 32 GB class 10. They both work great, play stored music and 1080p videos without stuttering. :good:
Sandisk MicroSDHC Ultra 64gb class 6 works after firmware update. Both in docking and tablet.
You may want to include lists for both working and NOT working cards. I have one of each:
Working: SanDisk 32GB class 4 HC (graphite color)
Not working: SanDisk Ultra 16GB class 10 HC (red/gray)
The dock uses USB (2.0) host to manage SD cards, so shouldn't give many problems. I'm currently using Sandisk Extreme 32GB SDHC class 10 in the slot formatted exFAT.
I have used Sandisk 16GB class 4 microSDHC before and now I'm using ADATA 32GB class 10 microSDHC with pretty good speeds in the microSD slot (all formatted exFAT, 32KB block size).
Did not have much luck with NTFS on .21 and .22 builds, perhaps this changed with .26, but I'm happy with exFAT.
Might be useful to mention which firmware people are on too when it works and doesn't work.
Using microsd San Disk 64gb class 6 working fine with latest firmware update. Have formated to ntfs, exfat and fat32 all file systems work on but getting better speeds with exfat

Now the thread seems pretty SanDisk-oriented and it's just the most popular brand, not necessarily the best (either for the Infinity or in general).
we need others to post what they are using, especially if it is a different brand.

OTA update resolved my sdcard issue

Just an fyi, I purchased the class 6 64gb card from Best Buy a while back and received the class 10 like everyone else. I knew it wouldn't work but held onto it anyway. Formatted to EXFAT after receiving the latest update and it's working great now. I haven't tried a file over 4gb yet but everything else is working perfect.
yep, this has been mentioned in the other OTA and Jelly threads. I tried a 7gb file and it worked.
Sadly, the OTA has not fixed my SD Card issue with the SanDisk Class 10 64GB card.
I am able to format it exFAT only with my Macbook. Does anyone think this will have any bearing on why my card still does not work in the Infinity?

Yes, my SDXC 64GB Sandisk card works great in my Retina Macbook, Galaxy S3 and I just took the card into Bestbuy to try it on a Galaxy Note 10.1. All work perfect as advertised without problem nor error.
The card will not mount in the TF700T. Others are still having this problem too.
Asus customer service just got back to me stating that SDXC cards are not supported by the TF700T. Imagine that - flagship Android tablet doesn't support the best microSD cards. Who would have guessed!
Overnight of my new Note 10.1 is on the way!
I'll have a near brand new (1.5 weeks old) TF700T, with micro 32GB SDHC card and brand new case for sale soon

Seems a bit strange, as the TF201 could use the 64 Gb Class 10 MicroSD card just fine... I hadn't in any way expected that the newer model wouldn't support a card that was working fine in a previous model...

i have a 64gb class 6. and i had issues with it prior to the update. Those issues are no longer there. I can now format my card to exfat and transfer files to and from it, within the device, without it rebooting or freezing.
No, they didn't have a TF700T on display for use otherwise I would have.
I dont believe its a problem with my specific device because others are still expressing the same problem on here too.
And my 700 works great with non-SDXC cards, but I ordered the $60 XC card so it need to work with that!
Mine still doesn't work unless its fat file system. Ntfs and exFat only allows me to use 400mb out of 32gb. I'm using 32gb sandisk SDHC card. This is ridiculous. How do they make products worse as new ones come out.
Update: Nevermind I was formatting on my Mac, had to use diskpart on my win7 PC to get it working. Issue has been resolved. Wifi copy to SD card is still slow but I guess has nothing to do with formatting. Also tried copying a 12GB mkv file and that worked as well. Thanks ASUS!!!

Good points guys, BUT that same formated card in OSX (exFAT) worked in my Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 with no issue. My other card, 32GB SDHC, formated in my Mac and worked just fine in the TF700T.
I have also tried formatting the card in those working Android devices and then putting it back in the TF700T with no joy.
Obviously I am not able to format the card in OSX to NTFS....
At one point I thought that formatting it in OSX might be the problem, but I dont believe so any more. I dont have any Windows or Linux boxes anymore so I guess I'm out.

[Q] 64g SDHC card

Hi guys
I'm looking for a 64G SDHC for my PC3100. I've came across news that not all 64g SDHC cards are compatible with the P3100.
Which are the recommend brands to buy?
Not sure if it's still relevant, but here is some recommendations www.sakoman.com/OMAP/microsd-card-perfomance-test-results.html
I know that the P3100 and the P3113 are quite different, but the 64gb sdcard that I'm using is a standard Sandisk microSD and it works fine with my P3113.

You'll most likely need to re-format the card to Fat32.
The Sandisk is the GO-TO card for 64 GB, but the Tab 2 can't read the stock card format and from what I've read cannot handle the actual formatting of the card, so you need either another android device that will or use a program on your computer to format it to Fat32, once that is done it works fine, using one in my 3113 right now.
