[Q] Transformer won't read Transcend Class 6 MicroSD Card. - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here's the situation:
I've been using the Transcend Class 6 Microsd Card since I got my transformer.
5 minutes ago I took it out and connected it to my Macbook Pro to upload some comics. I put it back into my transformer and now it won't detect it at all.
I put in a Transcend 1gb card into my transformer, and it works flawlessly.
When I try my 16gb card, it still doesn't read.
What the hell?

No it didn't. I simply dragged and dropped 3 .cbr files into the memory card.
I'm going to return it to Amazon and order a 32gb card instead (not class 6).

Did you try rebooting it ? My transcend 16 did the same and it worked with a reboot
swyped from my CM7 Supersonic

I'll give it a shot... But I think ill get a refund anyway and get a 32gb Class 6 instead.
I have 50 dollar store credit with Amazon so the memory card will cost me 22 bucks
(Sorry I can't post links yet)

Nope. Reformatting the 16gb Microsd doesn't work.
I'll just return it.

My questions is will I run into any, like rom flashing, issue new one not being a goldcard?

It's simple.....copy all contents from 16gb card (insert in phone...mass storage) to computer. Then insert 32gb in phone....mass storage and copy the contents of the 16gb card (wherever u saved it on ur computer) and paste them into the removable disk shown in my computer....

I agree! My room mate actually tuned me on to HD Tune. This program has a utility built in that will test, real-time, the write/read speeds on the card. Test it the moment you get it, for at least 20 minutes uninterrupted. If it doesn't match the specs it should, return it. If you use Ebay, I would suggest purchasing with paypal, as they have a buyer protection program which helps with issues of "fake" cards.
Sidenote: these cards aren't actually fake. They do work. the problem is they are using cheap parts and even cheaper labor for the manufacturing of these cards, so they may, and probably will fail. Either partly or all the way. what I mean by this is...For example.. you purchase a 32gb class 10 card... 2 months later, the card only reads as 27gb or some weird number. this is a fake. Still usable, but not what you paid for.
Good to know, thank you!

[Q] SD Card Sucesses?

I'm curious if anyone has a 32GB micro SD card running in their Raphael. If so, what brand and class are you running?
I am currently running a 16GB class 2 and it works great, but I previously had a class 6 and the phone didnt seem to like it. So I am wondering what 32GB cards people have been running with success.
I emailed HTC asking which memory cards will work with my HTC Touch Pro a few months ago. Here's what they said:

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. With regard to your query; the maximum size of the SD card that you can use on the HTC Touch Pro is a class 2 or class 4 16GB SD card.

[Q] 64GB micro SD?

Has anyone tried a 64GB microSD card in the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus?
I have a class 10 32GB one in there at the moment, but at £37 for a 64GB I'd love to expand it further, but I don't want to pay out for one if it doesn't work!
Does anyone know if 32GB is the most it will take, or can I get a 64GB one?
I would believe the 7.0 maxes out at 32GB. 64GB is SDXC, which isn't listed on any spec sheets, only SD and SDHC.
It works fine with 64 gb, mine does.
Sent from my GT-P6200 using Tapatalk 2
altho it said max is 32... The 64gb work fine...
more importantly, where from at £37.00 ?
Sorry, Google Shopping showed £37 as a price for a 64GB MicroSD, but when I got round to actually looking properly, it was an incorrectly labelled standard SD card.
Amazon are however selling them for £60 now, which means the price is coming down slowly!
I have a 64gb in mine and it works just fine.
amazon were nocking them out at £42 last week - I only bought one because I didn't believe it was genuine, even though they were supplied by amazon I was still suspicious. I wish I had taken a chance and ordered 2 or 3, because sure enough they are genuine sandisk cards and work well in all my devices - that's my tab, my xperia arc s and my Archos 70 IT2, I wish I'd bought one for each
Be careful of Class 10 or UHS 1 cards!

Just wanted to post a follow-up in this thread. At the time of these messages, the Class 6 cards were out, and it appears that they do work.
However, it's now September, and Class 10 cards are out, and they DO NOT work. The GT 7.7 people discovered (and I just "accidentally" confirmed on my stock ICS P6210) that Class 10 64GB cards get irreparably damaged when used on our Tabs. I have Class 10 cards in my S3 and Galaxy Note, and they're fine, but my P6210 just ate one on the first large file write - as has been seen on the 7.7 tabs as well!.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460201&page=7 and other posts for reference.
I've just ordered a Class 6 64GB card from Amazon, and expect no problems with it - but be warned that many people are having problems with the Class 10 cards, on the 7.7 and (now) the 7.0+ tabs.
FWIW, YMMV...
U just got to format the card to a suitable format, mine runs just fine on fat32.

What is the maximum capacity supported by this drvice?
What is the fastest speed supported? (which class)
Thanks.

Thanks for asking this question, I wasn't sure myself and was going to ask, until I saw this thread, but I am glad that this tablet can use a card of this capacity because my wife is using a 32gb class 10 that is just about full of music, movies and ebooks. So, I just surprise her with a bigger sd card after all.

Hi, I apologize for the mistake in my previous post, she is currently using a regular SanDisk class 4 card, she had previously used the Mobile Ultra series class 10 though before she decided to use it in her T989 instead since she was having boot loop issues with the regular class 4.
I bought it from Best Buy in August when it was on sale for $40.
She had 1 issue with the card though, when she was in the process of moving the files and folders off of her pc, where she had copied the contents of the class 4 sd card she previously used in her SGS2, to her new class 10, SD card.
All was fine, until she had copied her NANDROID back up folder which was about 3 or 4 gb in size, everything else had copied over just fine.
When she copied her NANDROID back up folder to the Mobile Ultra card from her W7 laptop, where she had previously copied the class 4 card, and after one file couldn't be copied, the card became corrupted, and she couldn't read the card in her computer, phone or tablet, and formatting it didn't work at all. I even tried in my own device, and although I was able to read it, when she couldn't, it wouldn't format in my phone or tablet either.
In Windows, it said something about the file name being too long, and it would not let either of us rename or delete the file because it said that it was write protected, (it wasn't) and then sometime after that, the file name had some gibberish and was 6gb in size and we could not format it at all.
This happened with both sd cards, and so, I took them back to Best Buy and got another Mobile Ultra card that she now uses in her phone, and since then she hasn't had any issues. I also bought a USB card reader, and used the new card with it just in case the issue was with the sd card adapter it came with.
That said though, the Mobile Ultra cards, worked just fine in her T869, it was just one file that was inside the NANDROID back up folder that corrupted both cards.
I recently ordered a Team 64GB MicroSDXC card from New eggs for my Galaxy Tab Plus. Like the SanDisk 64GB Micro SDXC card, the Team card is also UHS-1. I installed it in my Tab Plus, where it initially recognized it.
As I started transferring some music files, the SD card stopped responding and the dreaded "damaged SD card message" popped up. I pulled out the SD card and tried to see if I could re-format it. However, in horror, none of my Windows 7 PCs could recognize it in my SDXC card reader; even Disk Management wasn't seeing anything! At that point, I concluded that my card was toast and was ready to return it. However, I decided to try to see if I could get it to work again before returning it, considering it was brand new.
I read through the thread on 64GB cards over at the Galaxy Tab 7.7 forums (as we share the same hardware and 64GB card issues) and found that some had found success with re-creating the partition table in Linux. I used Gparted, which saw the Team 64GB card, but had some initial difficulties, as the card would not stay mounted/visible for too long. After several inserts, I finally was able to wipe the corrupted partition on the card and used Gparted's option to re-create the partition table. After doing this, the dismounting issue disappeared, but Gparted still had trouble creating a full FAT32 partition on the card. I then tried zeroing it out with dd (same command that bex0rs used for his SanDisk 64GB card in the 7.7 thread). After a lengthy process, Gparted was finally able to create a full 64GB FAT32 partition without issue.
The Team 64GB SDXC card was then able to be seen by my Windows 7 PCs and I was able to transfer over 30 GB of content to the card without issue. Even my retired DROID Incredible and Nook Color were able to read and write to it fine. However, I have not tried it in my Galaxy Tab Plus, in fears that it would kill it, so I'm keeping it in my DROID Incredible for the mean time.
In short, if you want to try to salvage your dead 64GB MicroSDXC cards, you can try this. But it definitely seems that UHS-1 cards are the culprit with the Galaxy Tab Plus/7.7 tablets and should NOT be used in those tablets.

hi i have tried 64 gb class 10 ones since there was no class 6 available at the time, and the card always got damaged after the approximately 30gb of data was copied to card. But now I can see class 6 ones on online shop but really want to make sure whether it works or not since this is also uhs-1 card. If any one of you have tried class 6 SanDisk with more than 30 gb of data then please tell me about your experience.
Does P6200 support exFAT format of 32G micro SD and be used by bitcomet to write a 10G video file?

[Q] TF700 Jelly Bean Update & SanDsik 64gb External Card

Since upgrading to Jelly Bean, whenever I insert my external 64gb Sandisk card, my infinity acts really erratic i.e, slow responses, won't download any apps from Google Play store, disables Quick Setting Panel, just to name a few. Whenever I remove it, my infinity runs as smooth as silk.
Everything worked great when I have ICS... Only started with the JB upgrade.
Is anyone else having any issues with JB and 64g external card??? Anyone heard of any known problems with 64g and JB upgrade working together???
I have a SanDisk 64gb and everything works fine.
Try formatting it on a PC (fat 32) to see if that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I may have a defected card ??? I don't rightly know.
I have had it formatted as exFat and NTFS and that didn't solve the problem. I wiped it clean with no music, movies or ebooks on it, reinserted it in slot and I still have the same issues.. Once I remove it, everything works flawless..
Since you're not having any problems, it must be the card. I did upgrade to JB with it still in the tablet, so maybe during that one in a million chances, it may have corrupted the card during the upgrade. I had no problems with the card before the upgrade. Only afterward..
I have a friend who live a couple of counties over who has an infinity, I will drive over and insert it in his Tab and see if the problems follow the card. If it does, then I will know that the card has been corrupted..

Update..Okay, the troubles followed my card to my buddy's TF700...So the problem is the card.
I read in a forum (somewhere) that some of the TF700s (not all of them, but some) are having problems with the Class 10 card (SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1) after the Jelly Bean update. They all worked well under ICS but once they upgraded to JB, some of them had problems. Like I said, I read this somewhere on one of the forums. ....Just a little FYI...Hopefully, Asus will come up with an update to rectify the problem

Ah, OK, that makes more sense.
The recovery can't access MS proprietary filesystems like NTFS and exFAT, but it should work with any card formatted with FAT32 (or ext4, which might need to be mounted manually).

Micro SD card answer please.

Ive got a verizon 4g model in the mail. This isnt my first dance with android so needing to root or do work arounds is no issue but Im looking for a definite answer on what will work in my new toy for a 64gb sd card. Most posts im reading are contradictory and lots are from last year when class 10 first launched.
So the question is to run a 64gb card do I need to source a class 6 or will a class 10 work?
Thanks!
Issues that I had was with sandisk microsd uhs class10. 32gb. Most of the problems posted was with sandisk class 10 uhs.
I'm currently using a class 10 kingmax 32gb. No issues. Until now I'm avoiding sandisk. not sure if this issues is solved.planning to get class 10 64gb kingston. Better if can get class 6. If you've read the trheads, its a compromise between throughtput read/write and max read/write.
my device is p6800 and i use sandisk uhs 64gb, formatted it with fat32 on my pc, insert it and the p6800 detect it, and it works.
(till now, i only use around 10gb, though....)

I use 64gb cards formatted fat32 and both class 6 or will a class 10 work. As you indicated there is a lot of words regarding the initial release of class 10 Sandisk cards. But Sandisk replaced a few of the bad cards I got and the last ones took a Fat32 format. Good luck and i hope you have no problems. The Sandisk web site will help you with a link to get a tool to format the disk. i have posted the link before.. :good:

Well tablet came. Love the thing. Card doesnt work. Im still plugging away at it.I initially tried formatting to FAT32. Didnt read the card at all. Then I tried pushing it to NTSF and letting the tablet format it. This bugs the tablet out on reset and causes all sorts of programs to crash until the card is unplugged...
Idk whats going on Im trying gparted now to 0 out the card and reformat.
Fixed by formatting with gparted. Nothing windows could get the card right.

Glad that you got it sorted and thanks for sharing the procedure that you used.
Could I trouble you for the exact manufacturers model details of the card you bought? For example SanDisk specifies the compatible card for the 7.7 as being "SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card 64GB SDSDQUA-064G-A11A"
I am not able to locate such a card here in the UK and wonder if yours has a different model reference. A common SanDisk 64gb microsd card is the SDSDQU-064GU46A but I am not sure if this will work in our Tab.

Hi I got my memory card from here http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDXC/SanDisk/SanDisk-64GB-Mobile-Ultra-Micro-SD-%28SDXC%29-Card---Class-10-UHS-1-%2B-SD-Adapter
with a code of VC5 I got 5% off too, had to download EaseUS Partition Master and format it to fat32 but is then recognised in my tab. If I then format it in my tab it converts to exfat and doesnt seem to read in the tab any more
I am just testing the card with h2testw and will be putting data on it
Just to add the SDSDQUA says optimised for android and has SanDisk Memory Zone app for easy file backup on your Android powered device the SDSDQU does not. I would expect the SDSDQUA to work out of the box

What you should do is reformatting it as exFat with your Windows system. Then write any kind of files on it (no valuable one).
Insert it in your GT 7.7, then system will tell there is something wrong (can't remember the exact message) and it will ask you if you want to format it : Say YES !
When done, it should be fine... Hopefully...
