3. Download root explorer from the play store
4. Go into root explorer and extract the zimage file from the cm9 recovery tar
5. Open sgs kernal flasher and navigate to where u extracted the image file
6. Select the file and then hit flash
TAH DA!!!!
Now u can flash cm9

If ur not on gingerbread boot loaders the recovery will have a messed up rainbow look but is still usable. The gapps u flash after u have already flashed the cm9 rom. All in cwm recovery
Thread closed.
The post has been covered in several how-to's and this it's not a question.
So, i flashed Bam's kernel and ran into some problems, sometimes the phone get's stuck and the screen doesn't come back on when someone is calling you, the screen is black and you just hear the ringtone, you'll have to remove the battery..
This doesn't happen alot but is very annoying.
So i searched around, and seems like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451218 is better..
Any confirmation?
What are the steps of installing both his kernel and rom?
I didn't find anything about installing in his thread.
Currently running stock JPKPH and latest Bam kernel v13.
Thanks!
First download XXKPE and XXKPQ here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
then follow the guide here on how to flash XXKPQ
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14933114
Once your firmware is XXKPQ
download CF-ROOT here for xxkpq
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056
then flash via odin select PDA then browse cf root
after rooting download the kernel and the rom in the link you've given,
go to CWM recovery and install zip (browse the vurrutROM) once installed flash the kernel through odin same step (PDA in odin).
Hope it helped.

Just a question, which one is more stable, Using the stock rom and bam's custom kernel, Or Vurruts rom and his kernel?
And if following the steps CORRECTLY can anything bad happen just because of badluck? i mean if you do it right, the result is 100% success?

Ive personally never tried both BAM's and vurrut rom . Maybe you can go to the thread and check on the feedback.
and if you follow the instructions properly nothing's gonna happen and yes if its done right its 101% success. Make sure you take a backup before proceeding with anything (Who knows it might not be you lucky day ) . Just kiddin bro ... Go ahead ..
Hi Friends,

I read in some link, that i had to clear cache before downloading is this not required???
If i install XXKPE will this fix the problem?
Thanks for reply.
When u flash a custom Rom the file partition is usually converted to ext.to flash stock u need to convert it back to rfs.so flash xxkpe first

I did flash XXKPE twice but still same issue, Boot Looping.
I found two things here,
1. Should i uncheck "Re-Partion"?
2. After installation, mobile went to recovery mode (both time) but i could see error while wiping data.
Did i do all things correctly? Or did i miss something?

My Fault, i did not read the instructions before downloading into GB version.
I have done all these things written in the post. In some other link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
I got to know my problem is similar to the one displayed in the link above. But i could not find these things for Galaxy SL,
Recovery Package/ROM
Kernel and
BootLoader for my phone.
I tried searching but not much useful though.
I'll try to explain how to go to CM9A11. Once you get there, set up your phone the way you want it and make sure it works fine. Then take a nandroid backup (do a search if you don't know how, or send me a pm like a lot of people do). Make a copy of that backup folder to your pc, so you can go back to that if something goes wrong. Then it would be the time to try out different CM9 based ROMs.

Thanks all, it worked
Thank you all.
I am back on XXKPE right now. I will upgrade to DDLF2 in some time.
How is performance of CM9?
Is it better than RemICS 1.5.3?
I was on RemICS 1.5.3 felt phone is becoming slower and slower thus wanted to shift back to DDLF2.
Right now il be on DDLF2 and will upgrade to CM9 (if its really very good).
Once again thanks all. XXKPE worked
No problems. BTW, I've posted the above help quite a few times in the last month.
If problem is solved, add solved to thread topic to avoid unnecessary subsequent posts.

Bootloop, NAND corruption most prob, help?
Hi, I need help for the following if anyone can guide me.
My i9003 was working fine with REMICS 1.6 and then i tried flashing REMICS-JB ontop of it via CVM.

I have gotten my phone to boot via KPE - KPQ - CF-root - MIUI via CWM. But I cannot download apps or receive sms as the phone will say "insufficient memory". Is there any way to recover my phone to minimum function for a few months before I re-contract for a new phone?
There's a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757849) that has a solution which needs me to remove my NAND, I have tried but it's physically difficult to remove the memory, is that the only way? If so, is there anyone who can teach me how to remove the NAND?
To start, I am a lower-than-a-beginner when it comes to this.
I was given a Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 that doesn't seem to function well and force closes all the time. I did a little reading and took a little action.
Here's what I have done so far:
- I tried to reset the phone to factory settings through the phone but to no avail. All apps, files and everything remained.
- I tried to reset the phone through recovery mode and wiped cache and data but got the same result.
- So I thought of rooting it and flashing a custom ROM.
- I flashed a stock ROM (not sure) I found which is a DDKP3 through Odin which went through OK but the phone is still malfunctioning.
- I rooted the phone through a rooting package I found for the DDKP3 through Odin which, again, went through OK.
- The apps are still force closing.
- I found a custom ROM which is a Paranoid Android JB ported for the Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 (not sure if it will work).
- Saved the ROM and the gapps zip file to the sdcard.
- Went to recovery mode.
- I am getting a message saying "E:/can't mount sdcard" when I tried to install from zip file.
- I was able to verify that the sdcard is working since I am able to read/write on it through the phone or PC.
Questions:
1. Am I doing the right thing?
2. What am I doing wrong?
3. How should I proceed?
4. Is it possible for me to flash the ROM through Odin since it is a zip file?
5. Do I even have the right ROM?
I am afraid that I might brick the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the process of downloading the DDLF2 ROM.
But as of this moment I already have the phone rooted through SuperOneClick. Is it okay if I flash the ported ParanoidAndroid ROM along with the gapps zip file since the phone is still not working normally after flashing a stock ROM?
And thank you very much for the advise.
Hey all I just flashed the CM10 A4 but I am not satisfied with it. Do decided to get back to DDLF2 but with few EXT4, deodex and MODS.
I am here describing the steps to get the best I9003 with best value pack DDLF2.
Kind request to expert to read the steps and tell me the right process to get it flashed. Thanks in advance
Steps:
1) Flash the XXKPE twice with all the files
2) Flash XXKPH (read somewhere that it it good to remove bugs)
3) Flash DDLF2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741370&highlight=how+to+deodex) it says to flash BAM kernal, but I was using the CF-ROOT
4) Flash CF-ROOT for DDLF2 (or the BAM v14fix followed by v15) ( I read in a MOD that the BLN works good with BAM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355675&highlight=deodex+ddlf2
5) Root (if not already rooted by flashing)
6) Convert to ext4 with the script
7) Flash the deodex DDLF2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323661&highlight=deodex
8) Flash unwanted app script http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323661&highlight=deodex
9) Flash the MODS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751694&highlight=deodex+ddlf2
