Vurrut Rom + Kernel - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

So, i flashed Bam's kernel and ran into some problems, sometimes the phone get's stuck and the screen doesn't come back on when someone is calling you, the screen is black and you just hear the ringtone, you'll have to remove the battery..
This doesn't happen alot but is very annoying.
So i searched around, and seems like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451218 is better..
Any confirmation?
What are the steps of installing both his kernel and rom?
I didn't find anything about installing in his thread.
Currently running stock JPKPH and latest Bam kernel v13.
Thanks!

First download XXKPE and XXKPQ here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
then follow the guide here on how to flash XXKPQ
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14933114
Once your firmware is XXKPQ
download CF-ROOT here for xxkpq
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056
then flash via odin select PDA then browse cf root
after rooting download the kernel and the rom in the link you've given,
go to CWM recovery and install zip (browse the vurrutROM) once installed flash the kernel through odin same step (PDA in odin).
Hope it helped.

Just a question, which one is more stable, Using the stock rom and bam's custom kernel, Or Vurruts rom and his kernel?
And if following the steps CORRECTLY can anything bad happen just because of badluck? i mean if you do it right, the result is 100% success?

Ive personally never tried both BAM's and vurrut rom . Maybe you can go to the thread and check on the feedback.
and if you follow the instructions properly nothing's gonna happen and yes if its done right its 101% success. Make sure you take a backup before proceeding with anything (Who knows it might not be you lucky day ) . Just kiddin bro ... Go ahead ..

Hanging on the Samsung screen is normal when coming to AOKP from Gingerbread, you need to double flash here's how:
Flash the ROM like normal in CWM, when it reboots and you hang at the Samsung screen use the 3 finger method to get into Recovery (hold power & both Volume buttons). Once there go the Mounts and Storage option and format system, data, and cache...then reflash the ROM again (you may also have to flash the latest gapps if your not using an Aroma installer) reboot and you should be gtg.
it doesn't hang for me

brother did you read the op....but just like Smokestack360 posted....try to read his directions....attention to detail...and you will be GTG!
I don't mean to be an [email protected]@ and I apologize if I do...but this is your investment, your phone....I personally read and re-read...and sometimes get my wife to read it...btw she hates that...LOL,
How to Install - Coming from NON ICS Rom
Download Rom and latest Google Apps and enter recovery
Wipe/Factory Reset
Flash rom zip file
Reboot...will hang on kernel splash screen
Use three-button method to enter recovery mode
Go to mounts and storage and format system, data, and cache
Reflash rom
Flash Gapps
Reboot

Use Odin or Heimdall to get cwm recovery then follow the steps in the above posts. I think u might even b able to get cwm recovery via the ROM manager app but think that it isn't the recommended method.
When coming from GB, u have to flash twice. That's why u were stuck at the Samsung logo before.
All ics ROMs are flashed the same way so read through the first posts of dev threads. Although the instructions will b the same as provided above.
Edit: And don't try to use a different kernel right off the bat. The one provided with the ROM is usually provided bc it works best.

For Recovery I can use Entropy Daily Driver, But that wont work for MIUI. SO where I can a Kernel which contains CWM for MIUI.

If u look in the "ISET Infuse everything" thread that's stickied in the dev section, there is Odin or Heimdall one click which both will give u cwm recovery.
I'm not familiar with entrophy's daily driver but I thought it was just a GB kernel, which is why it wouldn't work with that miui version bc it is ics.
Edit: I know most (and I believe all) ROMs will have a kernel packaged with them so u can just flash the ROM to get a working kernel. But bc it coming from GB, u need to follow the instructions provided above and flash twice. The reason I am saying use Odin is bc u said u have 3e recovery and I believe that u need to get cwm recovery first. I may b wrong about that tho.

Read post #4 and #6. That tells you how to flash a cm9 rom. I suggest, based only on my experience, flashing Entropy512's cm 9 build. Again, follow the instructions in post 4 and / or 6. I would not flash the current version of miui 4 as a new build will soon be posted. The instructions for flashing miui are in the OP.

Help Bootloop !!

I have gone through many forums but still coudnt help my phone .
I have Galaxy SL I9003 and was in RemICS 1.5.3 rom , when i reflashed my DDLF2 stock rom and usually everytime i flashed DDLF2 after CM9 Axx i had a bootloop which i fixed by flashing CF-Root for DDLF2 and everything worked fine ..
but recently after even flashing with CF-Root DDLF2 i m stuck in a bootloop , and strangest part is , if i flash Bam Custom Kernal , i.e. BCK Beta14 my mobile is booting normally WITHOUT ANY BOOTLOOP , but when i restart my phone it again starts from my Language Selection Wiping all user Settings ..
Pl. Help me
and . kindly Post Link to some tutorials of :
1. What is a GB Rom and difference btwn GB and Non GB Rom ?
2. What may be the Technical reason of this boot loop been hapening ?
3. BCK also have CF-Root then why its only working with BCK ?
4. even when i flash my stock rom still why it is in bootloop, shouldent it be orignal samsung Kernal as stock rom also has normalboot.img ?
Thanks , Kindly Help
Flash from the .pit+XXKPE.
Then flash DDLF2.
All from ODIN.
Follow exact steps from this post and you should be OK, unless its a hardware issue.

Hi Gur-i
Even i faced a similar problem two days back, but i could not see language selection screen.
I could only see "SAMSUNG" logo and it kept on looping.
What i did? - I installed XXKPE than installed DDLF2 and it worked.
If you want details you can check this link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837711
just go to download mode and flash another firmware, that should get you somewhere
Installing DDLF2 (or say any 2.3.6 FW) on any rom makes your phone go in bootloop as there is only 1 file to flash. Hence 1st u need to install old FW with all 4 files and after which, u can falsh DDLF2 (or any 2.3.6 FW of ur choice.)
The instruction (here):
OR:
You will need following before beginning installation:
1) Flsher Program + PIT (ODIN3 + Latona.PIT)
2) Firmware: I9003XXKPE
3) Firmware: I9003DDLF2 (http://www.hotfile.com/dl/161660941/8fd61ef/I9003DDLF2_I9003ODDLF2_INU.zip.html)
STEPS:
1) Open ODIN. Connect ur phone in download mode. just flash Latona.PIT file with Re-Partition selected.
2) Once flashed, Ur phone will reboot automatically but will show only black screen with background light. Do not worry. Open the back cover, remove the battery, insert battery and boot again in download mode.
3) Close ODIN. Open it again. Now we will be installing XXKPE.
i) Select Latona.PIT File in ODIN. (Make sure the "Re-Partition" is unchecked once you have selected PIT file)
ii) Select "APBOOT_I9003XXKPE_CL409735_REV08_user_low_ship.tar.md5" in bootloader.
iii) Select "CODE_I9003XXKPE_CL409735_REV08_user_low_ship.tar.md5" in PDA.
iv) Select "MODEM_I9003XXKPE_REV_00_CL1041909.tar.md5" in PHONE.
v) Select "GT-I9003-CSC-MULTI-OXAKPE.tar.md5" in CSC.
Now flash it.
this will successfully install XXKPE on ur device. Once your flash is complete, ur device will boot and will ask for initial config. U can set it or just power off ur device and boot again in download mode.
Now will install DDLF2.
i) Select Latona.PIT File in ODIN. (Make sure the "Re-Partition" is unchecked once you have selected PIT file)
ii) Just select "I9003DDLF2_I9003ODDLF2_I9003DDLE1_HOME.tar.md5" in your PDA and flash.
U are now on DDLF2.
Hi, searched everywhere, but the files hosted on hotfile are all gone?
Please help. thank you
can anyone please upload to google drive? I really need these files:
Firmware: I9003XXKPE
Firmware: I9003DDLF2
so I could fix my phone.
Thanks

You should probably read a detailed tutorial before flashing, as I think you´ve never flashed before... and also, you can search within the forum, so that you don´t spam this thread, that´s a developers thread.
1) Is XXKPE a must or XXKPQ will also do?
KPE
2) Where do I get the pit file?
Comes with KPE.
You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
3) DDLF2 is zip file so how do I flash, as zip or extract the tar.md5 file and through ODIN
Extract the zip and flash it via Odin in PDA
4) Which ODIN version to use?
I´m using 1.85
6) CF-root not required? I assume the kernel takes care of that.
To be able to install the rom you need a CWM. Cf-Root, Bam´s, etc. I´m using Bam´s 14.
Thanks for helping
5) Where is EXT4 install file?
You have to download it.
Instructions, you need to enter CWM.
- do a full backup with nandroid;
- install the attached script (DO NOT REBOOT AFTER THIS STEP);
- restore backup.

Now my (more) questions are :
1) Why flash KPE only first, any reason for that?
2) Is DDLF2 better or XWLF2 or ddkp3 (suggested by shriomman)
3) After say DDLF2 flash, can I flash BAM15fix kernel or is it must to install BAM14?
4) Is CF-Root install necessary as a separate step or when I flash BAM kernel, it will be installed too?
5) Which EXT4 script should I install? Shoould I do this step after flashing BAM kernel or after that?
6) Can I use the latest ODIN 3.04?
The main reason for flashing this ROM is that I am going on a vacation and need a good battery life which CM9 is just not giving.

KPE, because you have to put the pit, pda, apboot, modem. Everything from the beginning.

Don´t know
3) After say DDLF2 flash, can I flash BAM15fix kernel or is it must to install BAM14?
You can flash any CWM
4) Is CF-Root install necessary as a separate step or when I flash BAM kernel, it will be installed too?
No. You have to flash a Kernel, only one. BAM, Cr-Root, Vurrut
5) Which EXT4 script should I install?
I think anyone, but I´m not sure.
Shoould I do this step after flashing BAM kernel or after that?
After, because first you need to do a nandroid backup with CWM.
6) Can I use the latest ODIN 3.04?
Not sure about the compatibility with i9003.

Steps to get best I9003 with DDLF2

Hey all I just flashed the CM10 A4 but I am not satisfied with it. Do decided to get back to DDLF2 but with few EXT4, deodex and MODS.
I am here describing the steps to get the best I9003 with best value pack DDLF2.
Kind request to expert to read the steps and tell me the right process to get it flashed. Thanks in advance
Steps:
1) Flash the XXKPE twice with all the files
2) Flash XXKPH (read somewhere that it it good to remove bugs)
3) Flash DDLF2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741370&highlight=how+to+deodex) it says to flash BAM kernal, but I was using the CF-ROOT
4) Flash CF-ROOT for DDLF2 (or the BAM v14fix followed by v15) ( I read in a MOD that the BLN works good with BAM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355675&highlight=deodex+ddlf2
5) Root (if not already rooted by flashing)
6) Convert to ext4 with the script
7) Flash the deodex DDLF2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323661&highlight=deodex
8) Flash unwanted app script http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323661&highlight=deodex
9) Flash the MODS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751694&highlight=deodex+ddlf2
