Suddenly (well, I had just installed WifiKeyboard when this happened to me, but I don't think it's relevant) my touchscreen develop a dead zone. Just above hardware buttons. If i touch this zone, my phones thinks I'm pressing with one thinger above this zone and with another thinger below it. Just like the picture shows.

(Note that it's a complete symmetrical dead zone. It's a perfect rectangle)
It's strange. I was on Codename 4.1 JellyBean. I didn't change anything, (I descarted that this might be a Rom problem, I put back the stock rom and the problem persists). I don't rember any serious smash in the last few days. I had already changed the touchscreen once, because I broke it and the jerk that replaced the screen glued it terribly bad so the screen is a little bit loose (i think that maybe something entered through this space and ****ed the screen, but i don't know)
Also read someguys talking about chep chargers that might broke the touchscreen or something like this ( I recently used a blackberry's charger for a day) and that It might be something with the drivers of the touchscreen.
I had no idea.
Any clue?

Did you restart your phone?
If that doesn't help, do a factory reset.

Then it's broken.
It's not the software, then it must be the hardware.
Last suggestion: Turn off the phone, take out the battery and touch the pins where the battery goes. Put the battery back in, turn on your phone and see if it works. I've heard of static electricity giving all sorts of problems. Grounding the phone (touching the wiring) might do the trick.

I'm sorry you paid 80 dollars for your touchscreen? What a ripoff... I got mine off ebay for around 40...38 to be more precise. 80 is way too much for an SL.

Hi ppl. I have a problem(and I think, not just me) with Right arrow/way underneath the display. It is absolutely unresponsive very often, suddenly it works normally. It seems, that the touch sensitive surface has an unstable pressure threshold in this area. It is very annoying,so knows someone any solution? Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem, really annoying it is. Cannot play games with a right arrow that works half the time
Try to blow in centre button.
try this, use left thumb to hit the right button. Its really annoying, it seems the left right cursor pad it too sensitive and must be pressed at the correct angle
I'm also having this problem.
Do you guys know if it's a hw problem or it can be fixed with one of the custom roms?
Thanks

No, I only found this thread. I didn't find anything in the wiki either.
Thanks for those links.
Oops! .. I thought it only happens with me, there might be some problem in my phone, as it felt down from 6 feets just after 2 days from the day I bought it.
well it's really annoying..
hope to get a solution. (I think the hardware button is not manufactured properly).. (I might be wrong )
I have the exact problem!!!
Does anyone knows where to buy a replacement keypad??? I have been searching for it for days now with no luck. and all I could find is this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120488502946&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123 and this one https://www.gsm4world.us/htc-touch-...rane-pcb-repair-d-03019_405.html#remote-tab-1 and both have the same price almost $50.00 for a couple of buttons. have anyone found it cheaper???
Have you tried the HTC debug tools to see if the navipad is registering touches in that area?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2511016
You'd be looking for the 'NavDbgTool.exe' in that zip. Just extract the whole zip to somewhere on your phone and run NavDbgTool. You should see some lines and dots moving around on your screen. If you are able to see the lines moving when you move your thumb, it would mean that your navipad is working just fine.
Try running this program when you're unable to press the left or right buttons and see if you get different results.
My guess is that the buttons are just fine, but where you are putting your finger isn't exactly where HTC thought it should go in order to actually 'press' the left or right buttons. If the sensors and underlying buttons weren't actually working, you wouldn't be able to press end call or back either.
Hope this helps!
If you are new to the phone try those suggestions above. If this has just recently started happening when the phone used to work fine, its broken. The capacitive sensor HTC put in is junk, I had mine break 2 times. Got it fixed through warranty. It is not a software issue, you can hard reset, change ROMs, etc. It won't fix it, it is physically broken, and you can confirm it with the NavDbgTool.
search for sometime now, could not find any leads that may shed light to this
anyone out there? I'll try searching for it in the registry, if only i know where to start
First off, I don't know why you'd even ask for this. It's a tiny burst of vibration that happens only once when you power up the device, and that's it. There's no harm in it and I can't see a genuine reason for wanting it gone since it happens so rarley.
Secondly, you can't get rid of it. It's part of the self-diagnostic that runs when you switch on the device. If you did find a way to stop it (and I'm 99.9999999999999999999% sure you won't) then the phone would probably think there was a problem and not boot.
You're gonna have to live with it mate.

ahhh. . . so cute it neh?? can i cuddle him/her?

I was also looking for a solution to this problem.
You asked, why one should wish to deactivate this little vibration on startup...well, quite simple:
My HD2 performs its system backups every night, while it is in its cradle beside my bed. I am using SPB Backup which does a warm reset after finishing its operation. It's really not very funny to wake up every night, only because there is this "little" vibration during the boot up process.
If you are a user of a genuine HTC ROM, there is even an additional little melody playing after vibrating, which is still more uncomfortable! Only for this reason, I just reflashed my HTC ROM back to a Vodafone ROM (which only has the vibration).
I think, it would really be a good idea, If someone found a tweak to suppress the boot up vibration!

Hey guys,
I've had my Sensation for a couple weeks now and this weird issue just popped up. The Camera seems to have some green lines running through it. These lines appear on any Camera app (Panorama Beta, Camera 360, etc.)...
Restarting the phone fixes it... But only for an hour or so before it just comes back. Is this some sort of hardware failure? Anyone else experienced this before?

That picture was taken with a Galaxy S2... The irony.
The fact it goes away on a reboot suggests to me it's more likely to be a software issue of some sort, although I wouldn't completely rule out hardware.
Have you performed a factory reset?
I had the same problem. Called tmobile and they had me do a master reset. This fixed the problem. For how long though?

Yeah, I imagine a reset will fix it.
But, what's the point? I might as well get them to replace the entire phone. Both scenarios result in me having to start from scratch again. At least I can be assured it wouldn't happen again if I get it replaced.
battery
I had the same issue as you. No need for master reset . Just pull the battery for about a minute and that will work. I never had that issue happen to me again
“Green Lines” and “Distorted Widgets”
I had the very exact problem with my phone as well. My problems first started with the distorted widgets and then about 10 days later, my camera started showing the green lines. -->Please see pictures <--
I went back to the T-Mobile store and showed them these “Green Lines” and they were kind enough to replace my phone for me. I've had my phone for a little more than 15 days and usually TMO will not validate returns past this point. I WOULD HAVE BEEN FURIOUS! Anywho, I resolved it by taking it back and they replaced it. Hope this helps anyone out having the same prob.
Still, I'd like to know what the cause of this is since it seems to be happening on more than just a couple of phones.
With the “Green Lines” and the “Distorted Widgets” problems, I’m beginning to wonder if these issues are related to one of the two LCD manufactures.
“It has been confirmed that the Sensation has two different LCD panels. One made by Acer (AUO) and one made by sharp.”
It would be interesting to find out if all the problems are occurring on either the Sharp or the AUO displays? I can’t confirm which one I had since I returned the phone already, but if any of you still have your phone with the “Green Lines” or “Distorted Widgets”, try finding out which of the two companies makes your screen on the Sensation 4G and compare the results with others. You can find out to d othis in the link above.
Hey guys, I was wondering what my options are at this point. One of the lights has stopped working...the button still works though. Will Costco/ATT replace the phone? I'm almost positive they will but does anyone know how long they take? I cant be without a phone for more than a day.

Yes they will replace it. This was seen on some of the first ones that came out. Just ask if they will just trade you a new one on the spot and make sure they let you turn it on to check for any other hardware defects.
Edit: this is assuming your hardware warranty is intact

Yes it is. Thanks! But I doubt they will give me a NEW one. Its been over 3 months.
Same thing happened to my AT&T HOX, It was working normaly then suddenly the recent apps light stopped, the button works perfectly tho...
I did factory reset, cache and davlink cache erase, changed rom and tried almost everything, the light started working again but dimmer, not as bright as home or back...
Today the home key backlight stopped working too (its like a virus spreading) and i got them to work after every reebot and when I answer a call but again, both backlights are dimmer than the original...
What did they say? could you replace the phone? Im still thinking its a software issue rather than hardware... maybe Im wrong!
Please if you find someway to fix it let me know! I will do so too!
Good luck!

No it was a hardware issue. Well at least that's what Costco said. I also factory resetted RUU'd and all that . They are amazing! After 90 days they still gave me a new one no questions asked!
EDIT: If your out of warranty (It hasn't been a year since the phone came out so that's not even possible but oh well) you can take the back off the phone and press the LED panel under the buttons down firmly and they start working again! I tried this on my new one (I know..i'm stupid )
A few weeks ago my Sensation screen turned to colorful pixel snow. After opening the sense lock ring and flipping the main screen for a few times it became ok. A week later it went back to the snowy screen permanently.
I went to recovery and re installed the Rom (revolution 6.80) and the problem was solved. A week later I got the snowy screen back, but now the snow appears the very first moment the device is powered on.
Due to the face I had airdroid on the device I managed to connect it to the computer and see the mobile screen on the computer and it looked as if everything is ok, I could see the sense and all the screens and operate all the applications by looking at the computer and touching the snowy screen.
I bought a new screen and connected it instead the original and I still got snow....so I know it's not a screen problem.
I do not have warranty on the device and local labs will charge half the price of the device for fixing it, so I prefer to find out what's the problem and but the parts myself and replace them.
Anyone has any experience with such a problem and fixing it?
Thanks a lot
Try using a blower, those that people use to blow off dust, blow off every spec of dust you can see on your device, clean the connectors of the screen too.
Then, try installing a rom which is not ARHD, and test it out. If all these doesnt work, it might be your GPU hardware is faulty.
I already cleaned all the connection and checked that everything is connected correctly but it didn't help.
Do you know where the gpu seats? maybe if I knew what it looks like i could check problems around it or replace it.
No one knows how to solve the snow problem? :crying:
That's it? the device is dead? I used it only for one year...
