Factory reset Asus TF700 64GB - Asus Transformer TF700

What do I lose if I perform a factory reset?
You format the system memory to 64GB?
Are deleted, documents, photos, videos, and everything else?

all your apps and settings. Anything not stored in the storage.
Don't quote me on it, but I believe your pictures stored on the internal memory should still be there. The SD card will not be touched, but you can pull it out if you want to error on the side of caution.

The problem is that if I connect the TAB to your PC via USB I can not see all the files.

it wipe everything on your internal memory (SDcard). It will not touch your external SDcard (removable). If you use root explore and look in the root, you will see folder; SDCard (this is internal memory) and Removable (this is external sd card).

removing the microSD ...
titanium backup:
792MB ROM
INSIDE: 60.4
SDcard: 60.4
the internal SDcard (64GB) is formatted?

Factory reset wipes EVERYTHING. I made the mistake of doing it because it doesn't wipe everything on my Epic 4G Touch. Lost all my pictures, downloads, roms, school work, Oops! Good thing I backed up to Google Drive before hand!

[Q] Stupid question about rom backups

Since the NS has 16g internal memory and no card, how do I set it to backup roms, pictures, music, etc to a different location than the internal memory? If I wipe every time I install a new rom, won't that destroy the old backups, etc?

A wipe shouldn't erase your internal sdcard. You have to select format sd card to do that. Exception is when you do the oem unlock of the bootloader.
That said, I always transfer a copy of my nandroid backups to my laptop or my dropbox, just in case...
edit: the internal sd card is treated by the OS the same way an external card is on other phones, it's mounted as a different partition.

[Q] backups

Just got my transformer today, its awesome. I've found one slight annoyance, being that the internal storage is infact an SD card. I use titanium backup to backup my apps but I cant seem to direct titanium to backup to the external SD. If were to install Custom roms would my apps still be intact?
honeycomb recognizes internal storage as SD and your microsd as MicroSD. if you install a custom rom you can restore from titanium still. however, i flashed prime 1.3 over stock without wiping so i lost no data anyways. basically i am just using the internal storage for /system and apps+app storage, and my 32gb sd for all media.
Go to – preferences/backup folder location and then use the backup/return arrow to navigate back to root folder (/). You should see Removable and inside that will be MicroSD if you have one inserted. Create a new folder if you like
You will now backup to the external SD.
Hope this helps.
That's great thanks, what a stupid way, I would expect the back arrow to close the window entirely. Now I just need to figure out how to get double twist to sync to the external sd.

[Q] Backup/restore/wipe questions

Hey, this is my first tablet. The only other android device I own is a Nexus One (and I've done a LOT of stuff with it, so please don't assume I'm a complete noob!)
I realize that my transformer has 16GB of internal storage... is there a way I can backup my data so a partition or something so when I do a factory reset I don't lose all my /sdcard data? Similar to how I do stuff on my nexus one? My buddy with the nexus s doesn't have to pop in an SD card or anything (not that he even can) and he can still flash roms and his user data is still safe. How are people doing this on the transformer?
As of right now CWM recovry only work with an external micro sd card.

The problem with the TF is that /data and /sdcard (internal) are part of the same partition, so I suppose if you wipe /data, you will be wiping also /sdcard. Thats the maily reason of using an external SD card.
Aside from that, Root Toolkit can save a complete image of your tablet via APX into your PC (if you don't want to use CWM).

CWM should behave equal since you're linking your external sd card to /sdcard. If CWM uses /Removable/MicroSD to mount the external sd card, you won't notice any difference.

Internal sdcard getting full

Curiously wondering why my internal sdcard is now saying I only have 5gb of storage space available.
I have a 32 GB Samsung galaxy s3 I have no music or pictures stored on my internal card. Seems like it all started when I went to a cm10 ROM then back to a touchwiz.
Maybe ther is a method I could use to format the internal storage and start from nothing?
Use DiskUsage to see what is using up your internal memory. You can use cwm or twrp to format internal memory.
I did find a 3gb movie that I had placed on the phone to watch. So based on disk usage. I have 16gb of system data and now 10gb free
Occasionally you might have to format your internal card if you switch flash many different roms as they tend to live "residuals" behind. Then there is the renaming of sd folders when you switched to aosp roms
If I decide to format the internal sdcard is it simple, reformat, reflash ROM backup? Or should I set everything back to stock first?

Make sure you manually back up all your data(pics, documents, music, files, etc.) that you want to keep. Then format internal memory. I would remove the external sd card to be on the safe side.
I am not sure about restoring rom backup. When I do format my internal card, I usually end up flashing a new rom (with the whole wipe data, cache, and system procedure).
Hopefully someone else can answer that question about restoring rom backup.
Did you backup your system ie nandroid with cwm or something like titanium bu? Hoe many times did you do if you did? Which back up utility are you using?
And download Storage Anlyser from play its the BEST way to find the big files.

Always wipe.
I've not formated the internal card yet, when I do new ROMs I only factory reset phone, cache, delvik then install new ROM.
My method of backing up my apps is by using my backup pro, but I do keep backups of my ROMs just by booting into cwm then backing up.
I want to format the internal card, but that's something I've never did. Which makes me worry about losing needed phone drivers.. Etc.
Also I'm not sure if I'll lose root or my recovery.
You will not lose root, recovery, or drivers, It is basically formatting your micro sd card, but instead it is your internal "sd card."
You will definitely need to manually backup the data you want to keep from your internal memory, either by connecting to a computer and copying to your computer or by copying them to the micro sd card.
I now have 25.6gb free space on my internal card

[Q] Noob question factory reset internal SD data...

So the phone is rooted, clockworkmod app installed, done a backup of the existing firmware (nandroid) which is saved in clockworkmod/backup folder. I copy the backup to PC just to be extra safe.
Never flashed a custom rom before...
All the tutorials say to factory reset/wipe...
The rom I want to flash is on the phone... What happens when I do the factory wipe? Does the backup and new rom.zip remain on the internal SD card?
None of the tutorials specify this... all they say is install new rom from SD card... which SD card? Internal or external plugin card?
I'm guessing factory reset doesn't wipe internal SD card right?

Yes, they do. Doing a factory wipe only formats your internal memory (and not internal or external SD). So you only lose your apps, contacts, messages, calendar, notes, etc. No files or media are deleted.

By SD card, they mean either internal SD or external SD.

Nope, it doesn't.
Enter clock work then go to advance there will be an option called format/sdcard
(make sure it's not your external one)
Hit thanks if I helped
