[Q] Video Issues while gaming - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys,
been having issues for the last couple of weeks, after a while playing any game I seem to be having some part of the image going funny coloured which stops me from being able to keep gaming. it sounds like the gpu is overheating but the temperature of the CPU never rises above 30C so i'm confused.
anyone else having the same problem?
I'm running JB stock US rom.
thanks!

[Q] Set CPU app profile issues

Hi,
I just updated Set CPU on my Infuse that's supposed to allow app profiles.
I wanted it to overclock to 1600 mhz when I'm playing games like Modern Combat 3 or Dead Space but I realized it doesn't work with any activated apps.
It does however work if a different profile is met like battery low or phone temp. to high, etc.
Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me.
Currently running Numas Rom as my DD since February. Always had issues with other roms, this one so far has been perfect.
Thanks.
The same problem here how can I fix it plz?

a700/Jelly Bean/Over Heating

Did the Jelly Bean update fix or lessen the heating issue on the back right corner? I am expecting delivery Wednesday 10/17/12 and would like to know what to expect? Thanks

JB update seems to have reduced the temp issue somewhat.

Does the heating issue still cause shut downs or video anomalies?

Yes, yesterday while watching a flash video stream, mine shut down due to heating issues. The tablet was running fine for more than an hour, and then it rebooted. I had external power connected and left the tablet stayed on permanent for that hour.

30 minutes of Real Racing 2, 61degrees. Haven't hit anything over 65 yet.
Rooted 701 with insecure kernel.

I've had my A700 for 2 weeks now, both on 4.0.4 and now on 4.1.1 and haven't experienced any issue with overheating.
I do notice the spot where processors sits, it warms up compared to the rest of the tablet, however it is definitely not annoying...
When using the processor more extensively by playing a game or watching video it warms up, but no reboots or anything. Actually, I'm very impressed with the stability of 4.1.1, blazingly fast! (Only Chrome has an issue, it seems to have a bug making it rather slow...)

Yeah, Chrome has some serious issues I use Dolphin Beta right now. A lot smoother. Seems nobody likes to use it.

On my A700, System Tuner Pro reports ~ 20 deg F lower cpu temps - sometimes more - depending on the task(s) performed. While the back still gets warm to the touch, it has made a big positive impact IMHO.
As always, your results may vary.

anyone else having this issue?

when playing games on my tab like modern combat 4 or wild blood,my tab gets really really hot.is that normal? may be the the kernel that comes with the aokp rom.anybody know a solution or is it how it is?
You're running your cpu probably at 100% oddd are that's your issue...are you overclocked? I tried running mine at 1.4 ghz and it got warm
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
Mine also gets hot in the left side (portrait), but it's normal. I've used iPod's and iPad's that gets even more warm.
warm
yes im oc'd at 1200. if i leave it at stock 1008 the games seem to lag a lot.never tried anything pass that.wondering also if its something to do with 4.1.2,because,when i try any 4.2.xx roms it seems to run a bit smoother and not as hot.,
mine is not overclocked, even when playing casual games like candy crush, my tab got very hot, and now it start to reboot randomly, even after factory reset, after a few days, it start to reboot randomly again.

[B][Q] My Phone is getting Heated whenever i use "Any" 4.4.2 KITKAT roms....

[B][Q] My Phone is getting Heated whenever i use "Any" 4.4.2 KITKAT roms....
[Q] My Phone is getting Heated whenever i use "Any" 4.4.2 KITKAT roms.... i tried 4-5 different 4.4.2 KITKAT Roms but none of them solved heating problem... even when i dont play games on my phone... then i installed Trickster mod app and enabled "Temperature Throttle" .. it controlled heating problem in normal mode like using dialer/phonebook/settings/browser/launcher/whatsapp/facebook etc... But when i play small games like flappy birds or subways surfer etc it again starts getting heated... Any Solution ????
Playing games like that will always heat up a device, regardless of what kind of ROM you're on. The severity of the heat can vary a little from ROM to ROM but it's always there. They're CPU intensive apps, what do you expect? Funnily enough the app that I find heats up my phone the most is Chrome. There is no real solution, apart from maybe underclocking your device but then your performance might suffer.
You need to understand that computing generates heat, and games that ramp up your CPU generate a great deal of it. PC's and laptops have pretty decent fans that run to expel the heat, and even they get pretty warm. Our mobile devices have no fans so they have exactly zero ways of transferring the heat from the device to the exterior air. I don't believe mobile phones are a very good platform for gaming for this exact reason.
If you don't want your mobile device to heat up, don't use it in such a way that it will. If you want to continue to use CPU intensive apps, learn to live with the heat.

thanx for replying... yes you are right and i totally agreed with you... ok but when i played all the games on Jelly bean 4.2.2.. even heavy CPU and GPU uses required games... it was heating a little after 20-30 min... and never get heated on normal modes and on simple apps... but on 4.4.2 it is heating like 10 times more... i just want to know is there only me who experiencing heating problem...
Anyways it looks like i have to switch back on jelly bean... :crying::crying::crying:
and one more problem i am facing on 4.4.2 is... my phone automatically Restarts and get reset all my apps like factory mode... is my 2.15 firmware is ok with 4.4 Kitkat roms ??
I have no problems with over-heating on KitKat. Are you using a custom kernel? What kind of temperatures are we talking about anyway?

Ok, but what temperatures is your phone reaching? Trickster Mod has temps in the info section. The 2.15 firmware is fine for KitKat but you might have a more serious problem. I'd run an RUU if I were you to see if it helps.

maybe the phone is overheating and throttling? do you have a case on the phone? It could be that the phone's case causes the phone to overheat. Just a thought..
