Hi all i have some problems with games like order and chaos 2 after 10 min of gaming staring to get low fps laging i think this phone shell take the game with easy but dont know what is the problem. Anyone have the same problem ?
maybe the phone is overheating and throttling? do you have a case on the phone? It could be that the phone's case causes the phone to overheat. Just a thought..

The temperature in my city is around 40°C.. But real-feel is around 42°C...Summer has just started and my phone is getting hotter than usual... However, the phone is not so hot in idle mode... Its around 31-33°C.. However, after playing few games or browsing for around 20-25 mins, my nexus s is getting hotter and hotter.. I can feel it in my hands... But still, the battery temp is showing 36-37°C only... I've never even seen 38°C on my phone... But still, I can feel the touchscreen is getting very very hot...
After opening the back cover, I began examining myself.. I noted:
The battery is not that hot
The sim area is very hot (I even started my phone without the SIM card, but same result)
The area beneath the camera and flash is also too hot..
The touchscreen itself is getting v.v hottttt.... I cannot play touch games anymore... However, the lower part of the touchscreen is absolutely normal...
When charging, the temperature doesn't goes more than 35°C... However, I can feel the back side is warmer...
2months ago, when the temp was around 30-32°C, I've never had this problem Everything was fine and running perfectly... Still now, everything runs smoothly without lags
I've never heard that touchscreen is hott... I've had many phones and my city's temp remains mild mostly... So, what could be the problem?
I am using:
Carbon unofficial
Marmite 8.5cm_bigmen
No over/under clocking
Vooodoo sound with +5db (Hardware highest)
Ondemand with cfq
Battery timings: 1.5day with normal use (4-5hrs of screen time)
1day with heavy use (6-7hrs of screen time)
Should I revert back to stock ROM?
Is there any IC problem?
Battery problem?
Processor problem?
Or is it normal for the phone to get hot in hot temperatures (42°C)???
Should I see a doctor?

Its normal dude. If you want to keep it cooler than don't keep the brightness too high.
One thing that can REALLY heat up my phone is playing games at 100% brightness on a hot day so try to avoid that.

No dude the same areas as you describe are the ones that can get really hot on my phone.
My i9023 gets really hot if i play games at max brightness, so now I avoid playing games.
And yes, it also gets hot in the processor area, not the battery.

Now, my phone is getting very hot while playing Asphalt 6 or even Fruit Ninja... Only the processor side (Top portion of touchscreen and its back portion) is getting hot... Battery is definitely cool (Not more than 38degree)...
What could be the problem? My processor has gone mad or what? I've even tried undervolting as well as processing speed to 800Mhz max... But overheating remains
My phone gets hot only when I'm on full brightness and a game I usually put it at half brightness and it never happens even when playing mc4

This is absolutely true. I have Nexus S since 4 months... There was no problem at all then.. everything normal and running fine and never overheated at all no matter what i play...
This overheating problem started few days back when I tested overclocking and overvolting NS
Seem's this is the problem..
I think I have roasted the processor and it will always remain like that.. I will have to sell it soon now

is it still over heating on half brightness?
It is... I am on 3% brightness...
Should I give a try to a new OEM battery?
Will it resolve the overheat issue?
Why is the processor heating up too quickly? Has I finished its life by overcloking it? Or it is a battery issue?

I went to the local market for some inspection of my phone. The person said that your phone is not giving maximum current and the charging ic is getting very hot and has to be changed... How is this possible? I've never had any problem with my phone like this... 100% charging was always OK for me
Hello guys!
I recently switched to this phone..
So my question is that whether it is my nexus 5 which heats up even after using it a little bit or anyone else is also having the same problem??????

To be honests, for me, the only way to get it noticebly hot is play Real Racing 3, Asphalt 8 or other heavy games.
Oh and using it for browsing, calls, facebook etc wile on charge heats it up too.
According my opinion its ( feels ) much cooler than N4, i had before.
U have any case/bumper ?
Can u also mention heat in degrees?
The Nexus 5 definitely runs much cooler overall than the Nexus 4. These devices with their processors are made to heat up in an intense situation such as gaming. The device has an individual heat sync to soak that up and release it once the processing you've initiated has been lowered. Heating up is normal. The device will know when it's too hot to function, but that would take a lot to happen.
Slight warmth is nothing to be concerned about when browsing, or on a call. You should be concerned if there is no heat and you're playing a game for a few minutes or more.
Odds are high, your battery will die before the heat to the processor damages the phone. If you're finding it's difficult to hold the device because it's hot on your hands, I'd suggest setting it on a flat surface or get yourself a snug case. Mind you, a case will concentrate the heat and could potentially make it worse.
See this is called heat, my screen and fingers were literally burning

There is some sought of problem with my device, thermal throttling doesn't turn on when using stock kernel
Its dead trigger 2
88C???
I think its too high indeed, although i dont play games.
Again, do u use any kind of "close type" case?
Sock kernel yes, but any kind of custom ROM with any modified system files ( build.prop etc ) ?
why isnt the company doing something about the overheating issue? is there any solution for this? Just bought my one plus one and this overheating issue is such a let down.
From what I can see the reason the charger "overheats" is because of the speed in which it charges the phone. A way to fix this is to root the phone and install an app that can slow down the amount of power the phone takes in during charging. Ofcourse this means longer charging times but it will help with the heat issue.
With regards to the phone, unlock the developer options and underclock the phone. Obvious advantage of longer battery life and less heat but with the trade off of performance. I would reccomend only underclocking it a little but as you will get lag because of the restricting of power to the CPU. Changing the cpu governer etc. to save battery will help with heat as they just slow down the ram and CPU.
My appologies if you have done all of these and are still experiencing these issue, i do know where you are coming from but they are trivial issues and depend on how you as the user do use the phone. Have a browse around forums etc. to find tips on slowing things down a little and things will cool down for your phone.
I hope i have helped even a little bit
How do you define overheating on the phone? What temperature?

No overheating here. What do you mean? The phone gets hot and turns off?
overheating

This phone is not known for overheating any more than any other phone that will heat up when driven to its max for example in heavy 3D gaming. There is a difference between heating up and overheating
First, run stock without any extra installed apps, and NO running apps or network connections or anything and see if it's overheating.
Do not use an aftermarket charger--they could be rated for different amps and overheat or damage themselves or the battery.
Phone brand new?--simple--ask OnePlus to replace it.
Phone used?--probably been abused--get your money back and get another one.

This. Far too many people mistake a device heating up for a device overheating. All phones heat up, they have no active cooling. If the phone was actually overheating the thermal cutoff would kick in and the phone would shut down.

No overheating issue here, you may want to try different - weaker charger like stock Samsung or Sony one with output current ~700mA-1A and see how it performs.

im thinking of buying this or note 4 i have an s5 right now. does rooting debloat and fixing the thermal settings fix the lag and overheating?or is there anything else that will. im a heavy user play switch in between games alot and depend on a decent battery life and dont like lag.
Basically same question here, except i already bought it.
By the way, i got it rooted.
I just got my Flex 2 and after debloating and tuning the thermal configuration I'm really enjoying it! Performs great.

Debloat and thermal settings has turned my phone into a powerhouse. On an average day, I see no more battery drain on the Flex 2 than I did on the original Flex (with a bigger battery and a smaller number of cores). However, if you're heavily into gaming, the GPU will certainly be enough, but for 3D intensive games the battery drains rather quickly (as expected, really).
I have compiled a list of everything I've removed for debloating here.
So no issues with overheating? I switch between games like madden , clash of clans, boom beach, magic rampage, and outwitters constantly so I was worried about the heating issue for a heavy user such as myself

The thermal throttling settings are still enabled, just set to a higher temperature. I have mine set to 65°C (as per the thermal throttling thread), and I know processors can get much hotter than that without failing (Apparently the HTC flagship cores get up to 80°C, don't while me on this, it's just a passive memory).
Warm even just when watching YouTube video, anyone faces the same issue?
I guess you also have higher battery drain than normal and some lag am I right? I also had this issue, but for me at least, one factory reset somehow fixed everything. One week since then and I haven't had any problem again.

No overheating issue so far. Have you installed some application that throttle your CPU?

Do you realize what you are talking about doesn't make sense right? Throttling the CPU will only make it cooler and no I don't have an app that does that
The only time I feel the xzp heating up is, when I'm watching 4K (HDR) movies. The movies don't lag, even when the device is hot. Haven't reached a critical state until know.
I have been using my xzp for about 2 weeks and haven't experienced and heating or lagging
