[Q] Any newer 7.8 builds showing up ? (newer than 8835) - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

8835 has been out for a little while. Just wondering if anyone has seen any rumor or seen on a 3rd party site with a newer build than 8835 or 7.8.
Just would love to see a little more finished Xbox and other tiles that can go large or small....or the next step in 7.8...
Thanks !

Andrew in the 7.8 ROMs thread which is now locked, I read you mentioned somewhere that small tiles are fixed with their titles removed - was that in reference to the latest version of all ROMs? I was looking for a 7.8 ROM where no titles are present on tiny/small/little tiles - Medium and Large of course looks great!

I was talking about the builds that came up after 883X series. I don't think that roms with these builds are available in public. Actually 8835 was not also supposed to be leaked (because it's only new UI) but $hit happen.

My only guess is Microsoft let it be leaked... What we are is a public unoffical beta testers. They do a leak, there is a lot of hype around it, the great devs work their magic, and everyone claims bugs in public fourms. How else could you get this type of testing ?
This one just has the new tiles but, still buggy,
Hope they drop a newer beta tho...

newest is 8845

i dont think so. if 7.8 is a beta, and has no newer functions, and has bugs which wasnt there in 7.5 why would they test it??? why is there then a bug in the app list if if was fine in 7.5? i think they can make easily a new start screen without any bugs we have today with this build. so it is not an beta test like you think. this is a leaked version which is not build to the end, it is not even build for internal microsoft use to the end. I think this build is an work in progress and we catch up and cooked it in a rom.
and we have seen already in july some builds working better on a lumia 900 then this 8835. so i think this is not an beta.

Ooooo.. What's in it?
Is this a full package? If so, that should (at least for now) mean that Viewsonic is not dumping support for the G.
That said, if this not an update that adds Flash and fixes other key issues, the 26th and onward will be big return days and perhaps push the situation over the edge.

I agree.. better have flash or else VS is in deep poopoo! I am so tempted to go back to stock and do this just to see.
Oooo, new version of TnT Lite?
This looks like a big update. Bigger than last week's. New kernel, Angry Birds preinstalled, sdcard2 allegedly supported by the stock media apps.
This will definitely be the basis for a TnT Lite 3.0.0. Still need to check a lot of things.

Flash in the update? Most people deciding on returning this for an iPad depends on this. Flash to consumers is the main differentiater'. The other stuff is superfluous to most folks.
Flash is the key to the Gtablet's life in consumerland.

Unless consumers could install it from the market now (most devices do not have it preinstalled). Catch is, NO market
I mean this for Viewsonic after the 26th if no consumer easy way to get Flash on the Gtablet:
As a programming instructor in my undergrad would say to the class, all the effort and progress in the world is CWOT if key functions are not acheived. Complete Waste OF Time. He would write that on the chalkboard....
FLASH IS STILL PRINTED ON THE Gtablet BOX!
Something so "small" really is big in this case.
If its not there we can kiss this tablet's manufacturing chain goodbye.

I think Viewsonic just put the nail in the coffin of the G-tablet... Its a sad day, I so wanted this device to succeed for the masses. It works for us here because the development, but for the layman, its done with no flash.

For modders the upside potential still seems to be there, but the issue is general consumer acceptance of the product. Putting Flash on the box (that does not work) and that being a key differentiation from iPad does not help at all. Critical and high return worthy miss.
The best thing would be is if not in the update, the current Flash release works and consumers can easily get to it.
Thing is, Adobe already made Vega pull theirs........ Ouch.
If Flash were NOT on the box, this would not be as bad for perception by consumers and retailer partners. (which is critical).

Doniqq thats why your one of the best devs out here man. You made EB possible.
Real GB should bring updated Kernel, ramdisk, etc...
whats funny is there already was a leak released a month or so ago so this is a leak of a leak lol
I thought from these forums the original Froyo was just a test? It wasn't perfect. I remember Windows 3.0. It wasn't perfect but I still bought computers. I just played with them and waited. A high school student posts a rooted version of the update within hours of it arrival. Open source and bright people, a good combination. The changes will come, now a tip of the hat to these folks who work so hard.
I wouldn't call V21e a leak as it was released to the public directly from LG via their updater...

LOL, a leak of a leak. You def didnt come from the Vibrant camp, we had something like 5-6 Froyo leaks before we got it pseudo-officially, it was ridiculous
I'm an employee that was chosen for this release. They called it a maintenance test at work lol
Is it possible that they will release the officail update without ever updating to a new kernal? That would be really dissapointing if they did that

It is not officially released but anyone can flash it using LG update tool?
Of course this isn't official. These companies know if the put these "leaks" out we will gobble them up, test them for bugs and let them know about them.
Early adopters of anything tech are always beta testers. I was one of the first with the G1 and the Vibrant. While I'm no dev, I feel (as we all should) part of what has made android what it is today.
LG is still relatively new in the android game. Next year (or sooner) I'm sure we'll see them drop another beast but they will know a lot more. Sort of along the lines of the Galaxy line.
And this isn't really development.

JellyBean 4.x conversation -- All other threads about JB will be closed or deleted.

So, newbs open up a new request thread for jellybean every other day.
I'm started this thread (and the moderators stickied it) so you guys can talk on and on about it here while we (teamacid) continue to NOT work on it.
The reason we are NOT working on it, is because we are in the middle of porting our device to the aries kernel on the ICS branch. This will making porting to JellyBean easier... after we port to aries on the ICS branch.
As promised, I'm going to go into detail about aries in a separate post in this thread and reference it here when it is done.
For now, stop opening new threads on:
Why don't we have jellybean?
Can I request jellybean?
Where is android 4.1.x/4.2.x for this device?
...etc...
We will let you know when we start working on JellyBean so you can start messing around with it.
Of course, after that is going we can start on AOKP, and other "Built from source Roms".
I think this thread should be sticky for the newbs to see lol

If not worse... I have no clue, I haven't tried it. I'm sure it would have every problem ics would have. If not more.
It doesn't have all of the ics changes cherry-picked.
I'd rather focus my attention on ics. Finish whack-a-mole there and then go on to jb.
I know that people get anxious, we felt this when we started porting cm7.
Wait for it and it will come.

Oh by all means, I'm not saying to release something buggy. I know working on two projects at the same time would he dumb. The team is being smart. Hopefully, maybe someday CM can be officially supported for this phone.
I'm just saying don't settle down for CM9, accept that it's the best.. for now. Not always. CM10 has some great new additions that I love. I have a Vibrant and a SGS 4G, CM10 is the only reason I'm still choosing the Vibrant.
Other than my Nexus S is out for repair. xD

Yup. I was running CM10 on my at&t note.
Here is another few reasons I'm not so keen on rushing to get it on sgs4g.
* Bugs (every cm10 build comes with a new nightly bug. Its a preview release!)
* Not all apps on the market support JB yet.
* I dislike porting to a buggy rom. I will honestly wait until a more stable RC is released.
For now my note is back to stock with a manual root.
I might go back to cm 9.1.0. Idk.
I like the s-pen applications anyways.
Thanks for posting...it's a sensible approach for sure. From all the other devices I've seen, the kernel is the key given that ICS and Jellybean are not that much different. Once those devices had a stable 3.0 kernel (most of the time from an ICS leak for the device), homegrown JB ROMs usually followed close behind.
Keep up the good work!
We could also port to AOSP JB I guess until CM is ready

You probably notice more bugs than I do since you delve much deeper into Android than I do, but honestly I hardly notice any bugs using JB on my HD2. It runs just as smoothly as the GB roms, and I get just as much battery life. Really, the only thing better about JB is Google Now (to me, at least), everything else is more or less the same.

Installation:

Note1: You should use this in Multiboot. I never tested as real system and it makes no sense in actual status.
Note2: First boot takes longer, because data-partition will be build. After wipe data&cache system still works because he rebuilts the data-partition.

This is based on HTML 5 and it's supposed to be a even cheaper alternative to android and other OS's
.... There are plans for phones to be coming out next year I think in the US, also they say they can port 75% or more android and IOS apps as they are made in HTML5.... search up for more info. Also there is another OS called Tizen coming next year aswell I think but it's based on android.

my thoughts exactly, i mean, firefox for android lags on my defy... i'll try this anyway...
Nice work man.
At the moment, its still on a better stage than the first ICS boot by Epsylon3.
Amazing! I never thought we will see this! a beta of a beta, betaception (? and about the screens, yes, the demo running on a SGSII looked WAY better than this, but dunno why they changed it.
Next step: web Os!!!! :victory:
edit: a video running B2G as a POC will be nice, if thats not too much to ask for
I found the github of the SGS2-B2G which seems to be of the leed UI-designer of that project.
It seems these changes just aren't published to mozilla's github.
I will build again with the new sources and if everything works I'll publish the first build.
Boot to gecko is diffrent from the latest SS-s from Mozilla

[CLOSED] SailfishOS is comming to pico!

MAKE PICO GREAT AGAIN
Hello everybody I'll port Sailfishos to pico I'll post here every information about progress. It will use SD Card since there is very low space on the /data partition. It'll be based on cm11 which will be installed to the internal /system not sdcard. I think it will be alot faster than android i think, and will be usable in 2017. If you are not planning using it as daily phone you can still play with it check out how sfos is running on it
Anybody interested in?
I'm struggling with building cm12.1 by now (sources are outdated) :/
Hmmm it will not be easy as i thought. By now it's completly not working :/
Im interesting.
It will be very hard to get it working. By now it's crashing in very, very early stage :/
No problem bro , if you cant make this rom you can try another rom to make

Good luck
Lol, cool.
Though, putting aside that maybe you should stick with cm11 as base (fewer bugs), I think the biggest worry for now should just get sources to sync and compile after 3 years of staling.
And that would be already something remarkable and appreciated on its own, I guess.

Yeah building cm is impossible for me but building sfos is o problem both cm12.1 and cm11 was sucessful (and bith not working). I'll stick with cm12.1 fo no reason (cm11 have modified frameworks_av and other repos that are provided from sfos so i have to use sfos ones so dunno how it would work). First i need to get it booting (already hwve some ideas) and then i'll try to get gui
ps: expect tons of not working things lol
ps2: i'm using cm12.1 kernel which is overclocked by default so maybe i'll set max to 800MHz permamently
ps3: whoa guys you are more interested in it than people from my moto x force port. i thought this device was already dead (porting is dead)
Let's say my interest is purely academic, but still.
And then, who knows? Maybe SFOS could even have a lower memory footprint.
Said this, just two things:
1) guess like cm11 might be less neat on mer's side, but at least on this phone it's the most that still makes video decoding (and encoding) work tbh.
2) HADK docs says salfish uses libhybris which in turn by default bases on CM. If first you don't get it to boot, I can hardly see how all the rest of the chain could be meaningful.

It's not like 'it's not booting it will no work' it's like 'its not booting so i have to fix that'
GUYS IT'S WORKING. I mean there is still no gui but gui tester worked! And it started

Well nobody (including me) have ida why lipstick (gui) is crashing so i cannot do much abot that but i'm trying to remder lipstick using surfaceflinger (android's display manager/gui). If that will not work then i'll have to wait until somebody gets idea how to fix that
Guys good news! I almost got ui! Just setup wizard is crashing (again dunno why) so you can't really do anything. But i could choose language (it's pre wizard setup) so if i only fix setup wizard then it will work! Performance isn't as great as i thought but maybe 800MHz OC will fix that (gui is just 0.5 second slow and like 5 fps). Maybe it's just because it isn't set up properly and a lot of things working badly. Ah and i think you guys already don't suspect full functionality At least not just yet
