Hi guys,
I've created this topic, because I have some questions, I'm new at android. I want to install a custom ROM(CyanogenMod 9.1) and want to make sure I'll do everything right. Here is the installation instructions:
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot
- Don't restore data using Titanium Backup! they might cause FC's
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!

1. When I go to Recovery mode, it shows "Pico CMW-Based Recovery v5.0.2" and below it shows "Pico recovery by bbs.anzhi.com Ext(2, 3, 4) support by Yannou90". Am I running proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery? I get it from this rooting tutorial.
2. Saying "Flash CM9 zip from SDCard" it means "install CM9 zip from SDCard"(because in recovery mode there is "install zip from sdcard", nothing about flashing)?
3. How can I do "DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET"? Just simply choose "wipe data/factory reset" option from recovery mode?
4. After installing CM9 ROM, will it support overclocking? Or I'll have to install another kernel? If I'll have to, then which kernel should I install?
Thanks a lot. I know, very stupid questions, but please answer them .
1 From what I understand the recovery that you have installed derives from original cmw. Do not worry it will work fine
2 Yes, it means "install zip from sd card"
3 Go to wipe data/factory reset and confirm
4 Overclocking depends on the kernel you have installed, not the rom. Usually, the default cm kernel has overclocking (however, be sure to check this by going to settings in the rom)

Thanks. I knew that "Overclocking depends on the kernel you have installed", so kernel is in rom(isn't it?). Two more questions:
1. There was mentioned "- Don't restore data using Titanium Backup! they might cause FC's", so how can I do that anyway? Maybe use another application, so which should I use?
2. How can I backup my current ROM? So if I'll do something wrong, I'll just simply install stock ROM(which I was backuped).
All android roms have a kernel. It is a fundamental component for the operating system
1 Regarding the backup, there are two great programs: MyBackup ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wMiwiY29tLnJlcndhcmUuYW5kcm9pZC5NeUJhY2t1cCJd) and rom toolbox (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox&hl=it)
2 You can do a nandroid backup from recovery ("backup and restore")
Thanks. I need fast reply, which Gapps should I download from there? The one with version "CyanogenMod 9.0.x"? I don't know, because I'm going to install 9.1 version, but there isn't 9.1 version.
EDIT: found a topic, downloaded a CyanogenMod 9.0.x version...
Both cm9 and cm9.1 are based on the same system version (4.0.4) so the gapps for 9.0 will work fine on 9.1

Thanks, but I've found solution. I think the last question, I've successfully installed CM9 ROM and I want to overclock CPU. Using the original kernel, max clock speed is 600Mhz(I'm using setCPU), so it looks like default CM9 kernel doesn't support overclocking. There is two kernels, which support overclocking(first, second). So which one should I choose(I think Cranium Kernel will be better decision)? And how can I know what will be max clock speed on Cranium Kernel?
And does
High undervolting- 600 Mhz now runs @ the same voltage as 480 Mhz,480 Mhz-> 500 Mhz @same voltage, 320 Mhz->340 Mhz @same voltage --> Better performance with better battery!

means, that if I'll make the clock speed lower, it won't save battery?
Thanks. I know, stupid questions...
The second one is for Gingerbread Sense Rom, you should install the first one
---------- Post added at 10:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 PM ----------
If you have problem with the kernel, reflash the rom and gapps without make wipe
Okay, I want to install this kernel, but I don't really understand the instructions(there is something about clean-update.zip, then something about zImage.7z, modules.7z and etc). Can someone post the instructions, that should I use(I mean like "1. do that thing 2. do another thing")? These instructions are very complicated .
Thanks.
EDIT: Cranium Kernel says "Based on Htc French(telefonica) sources-Will work on all roms", so it meant to all GB ROMS, nothing about ICS?

Those additional informations are for developers, ignore them. Normally install the kernel from recovery (after cleaning the cache and the Dalvik cache)
and restarts device. If you have problem just reflash rom

Thanks, so which file should I download(there are 5)? And what about the edited part("EDIT: Cranium Kernel says "Based on Htc French(telefonica) sources-Will work on all roms", so it meant to all GB ROMS, nothing about ICS?")?
I had a look at the kernel thread .. It does not seem stable, many users have had problems with reboots. I would recommend you not to install it, maybe wait for it to update
About the cranium kernel, it only works with Gingerbread

However, If you are looking for better performance, look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924745

Maybe I should try this kernel, but if something will be wrong, I'll restore previous(using method which you said)? You said, that I won't need to use wipe data/factory reset, so I won't loose any data, no risk(isn't it?). If you agree, say which file I should download.
You should download the file named "zImage.7z". Yes, the reinstallation of rom will overwrite the stock kernel of cm9
Hm, when I try to install zImage.7z, it's like "invisible", I've put that file in sdcard, but when I click "choose zip from sdcard" and browsing, I can't see it. Looks like it doesn't read that file. So what should I do?
By the way, did I understood your instructions correctly?
1. Wipe cache partition(didn't do it yet)
2. Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache(didn't do it yet)
3. Install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> zImage.7z
Why did you try to do that read the instructions
Download the revised versioned build.prop
Rename it as build.prop
& Now follow the same instruction as you did for the last one
Download the build.prop
Open es file explorer>tab on favourites > "/">system
Den replace the build.prop (Yeah u need to overwrite )
REBOOT(IMPORTANT)
Done!

How is it related with the Yannou90 kernel? build.prop wasn't mentioned in the instructions.
I get messed up becose of a previous link in the thread sorry, here's the kernel http://www.mediafire.com/?6v87qg0xdamxttp . Sorry again
Oooops again, when flashing just mount /system and /data, only one was required but i forgot which one, anyway there are no issues if you mount both.

OK, here's my first real contribution to the Android community... and I owe all credit to the amazing cooks out here...
I take no credit for anything, other than the fact that I kanged Paul's, Pershoot's, Cyangen's, intersectRaven's, Ivan Dimkovic's and Termana's work...
PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE DOWNLOADING AND FLASHING. I SUGGEST U READ THE POSTS OF THE ORIGINAL KERNEL AUTHORS AS WELL.
This is a mod of the Desire Camera R2 port by Paul.
I just pushed the changes to various kernel mods including the stock CM506 kernel.
This should work on any stock version of CyanogenMod... tested on CM 5.0.5.x & CM 5.0.6... These mods should work with other ROMs as well, but I have not tested any. Try at your own risk.
Instructions:
1. Pop the zip file onto your SD card.
2. Reboot into Amon RAs recovery.
3. Do a nandroid backup [VERY IMPORTANT IN CASE YOU FACE SOME PROBLEMS!].
4. Select "Flash zip from SD" and select this zip.
5. Reboot.
Note:
This will flash a modified Pershoot's OC/UV kernel boot.img and replace the camera app. Flashing the boot.img is necessary since this mod requires a change in init.rc. Flashing another boot.img will cause the Desire camera to FC. If you want to flash another kernel, flash the zImage and push the wlan ko. Please use at your own risk (but, no this will not brick your phone).
Known Issues:
You might encounter FCs if you use NexTheme Goodies add-on.

Btw, thanks Craig I'm so glad that I can use the desire cam again ^^ I miss it so much ~~~
Reflashed the Kernal update and it works now...I had been using CameraZoom, but think I'm going to uninstall it now as I never really used the plugins.
Thanks!
It works Thank You
Um nevermind... I take back what I said about the fact that it's working properly... it actually isn't.
The camera occasionally closes on me. Sometimes it also restarted my phone when I try to open it too.
Why there is a need to install it together with boot image ? Isn't it just a regular system application with additional libraries ?
If this is a case, is it possible to remove the boot image from the package - this way it can be used by anyone who want to run a different kernel and it won't be any need to reflash the kernel after installing this?

You should probably mention that by using this, one also overwrites the current kernel.. No good if you use another kernel that the one supplied with this .zip.
Nice work!
Is there a way to change the default names of the pic?
"date_time.jpg" would be nice so they are ordered correctly in gallery..

Actually, this has changes in init.rc (to initialise the htc framework) which can only be changed by flashing the boot image. So no, there's no way to get it working without flashing the boot

SDCARD Partitioning Tutorial.
I know that with EXT4, partitioning the sdcard can be a hassle. Here's a little workaround to help you get it partitioned the easiest way I know without having to mount systems and such in Terminal Emulator. This way makes you flash 2 seperate recoveries, but I would rather do this than the other methods which could take upwards of a half hour or even longer. I've seen people that were working on it for a couple hours. Without further adieu:
NOTE: If you are running RFS, just follow step 1. and you'll be done. If you are running EXT4, skip right to step 2. and follow from there.
1. If you are running RFS, then you do not need to follow any other steps. In the green CWM2.5.5 recovery, just go to "advanced" in recovery and choose the Partition option. It's going to give you two questions for sizes that you want. The first size is going to be the ext size. For this it will give you a few options, but I don't recommend choosing anything below 512. You will see all the options when they pop up, just choose what you feel most comfortable with. The next thing it's going to tell you to select is the swap size. I again don't recommend choosing anything below 128 for this option. You will again see a list of options, so choose what you feel most comfortable with.
2. If you are running EXT4, then follow these steps and you'll be up and running with your new partition very soon. First thing you need to do is gather all the tools you're going to need. Here are the list of tools you will need:
A. One Click Root & Recovery 2.5.5
B. One Click Root & Recovery 3.0.0.6
Quite the long list huh? lol ...I told you it's gonna be simple lol.
Download both of these files (if you don't have one or the other already) and extract them to an easy to find location on your computer somewhere.
3. Ok, you're going to do this just the same as you would if you were rooting your phone from a stock state. And to answer your question that's running through your head right now, No, this will not return you to RFS. You will still be on EXT4 the entire time, so there's not real need to backup your sdcard or worry about having to sit through the backup&restore again. Once again, to be very clear... Even though you are flashing cwm2.5.5 recovery, you will REMAIN EXT4. So let's continue. Make sure USB Debugging is on and plug your phone into your computer. Do NOT mount the sdcard, just have the phone plugged in. Open the One Click Root & Recovery 2.5.5, and run the program. When it's finished, your phone will reboot. Do NOT unplug it until the script is complete. The script will say "Operation Complete. Hit any button to continue" or something along those lines. Just hit a button and the script will automatically close. You can now reboot into recovery and you will see the 2.5.5 recovery with the green letters. If you don't have the green letters, then you didn't run the right One Click, and you should start over using the correct one lol . For those that successfully flashed the 2.5.5 recovery, move on to step 4.
4. If you have the green letters, then we'll continue, if not, repeat step 3. with the correct one click lol. Now that you have the green letters, revert to step 1. When you're finished following the same instructions from step 1, move on to step 5. If you have any issues with anything from step 1. (which you shouldn't, but if you do) click here to go to Mibbit's irc chat website. Along the top left side you will see 2 tabs labeled "Home" and "Connect". Make sure you are on the tab that says "Home". When on the tab labeled "Home", you will see the box in the middle of the page. Right beside the letters "IRC:" is a dropdown box. You're going to click on the dropdown arrow and select "EFNET". Next, you're going to enter your nickname, and finally, beside "channel:" type "#viper" and select "Go". That will bring you to Team Vipers chat where one of us will be able to help you.
5. Now that you are partitioned, it's time to restore the EXT4 recovery. If you do not restore the EXT4 recovery, you will not be able to flash any new ROM's or Kernels, so you MUST restore the correct recovery. To do so, you simply do the same steps. Make sure USB Debugging is turned on and plug your phone in. You do NOT need to mount. Now you simply run the 3.0.0.6 One Click Root & Recovery. Let it run through it's process and it will reboot itself. Do NOT exit out of the command prompt until it says "finished, press any key to continue". Once your phone reboots, you can then reboot into recovery and you will see that you have the orange letters again. When you see the orange letters, you now have a partitioned sdcard and you are back on the correct recovery.
**ONCE THE KERNEL IS RELEASED (Which should be within the next 24 hours as long as my testers don't see any issues) THEN MOVE ON TO STEP 6.**
6. Now that you're partitioned, the only thing left to do is flash the kernel. Connect your phone to your computer and copy the Kernel to your sdcard if you have not done so already. To flash it, just choose "Install zip from sdcard" followed by "Choose zip from sdcard" and simply navigate to where you stored it on your sdcard. That's all. It's quite quick and painless and you should be able to do it all within 10-15 minutes.

Do i sense a 3.0.1 update to be sweet! or is the current 3.0 this version?
Hi BT. Thanks for the great ROM. I am using 3.0 right now. What is the difference between 3.0 and 3.0.1? Thanks. Keep up the great work! And one quick question. When I try to install lagfix, everythiing works besides the last step, installing viperspeed. It says I cant install it because I dont have enough room. but I have 185MB free. any ideas?
Link? I hope it's not there or else I'll feel more jerky than usual. Oh and super-thanks for those file names on the battery mods, so important... I have a mess of files like GREENBATMODTHISTHAT with no versions or anything and I guess I didn't realize that I needed to keep mods organized by ROM.

3.0.1 is just a new name for it so if we make updates there's less confusion... It's still the same as 3.0, but hopefully this will eliminate some questions in the thread lol.

I think 3.0.1 is just the updated version of 3.0.
3.0.1 does have the aosp lock screen the 4g is fixed
and couple other things... At least that i think lol
Hope that helps
Added A2SD (Download Terminal Emulator, And type "start a2sd" followed by "launch a2sd" and it will back everything up on your sdcard)

Can you please clarify this for me, because I tried earlier and it gave an error when trying to install the terminal. Also I have used linux before but never used a terminal on a phone before lol...can you write down a few steps for us newbies
Again Thank you for your work and to your team
Hey BT there is a app called WidgerLocker Lockscreen which lets you put any widget/app i believe on you lock screen that might be helpful i think..
Just installed it and brought back the aosp lock screen might wanna check it out... Send me a pm of ur email so i can send u the apk cause its a paid app
Another quick question BT, what are the other options for in the lagfix? Are they for future upgrades or not necessary at all?
Hey BT I just want to thank you for all your hard work and your great rom. I hope this hasn't been answered but is it necessary to remove my original root before flashing any of your roms? I have flashed most all of them and I have not deleted it. I'm not having any problems with 3.0. Thank you....

nope you don't have to...just wipe 3x, wipe cache 2x, and wipe dalvik cache ONCE and flash the rom then you are good to go (assuming you are using the correct modem and if not then flash it first with odin)

2.2 is for the vibrant, minfree is setting the phones task killer settings (I recommend doing this), restoring the boot animation gives you a new boot animation, you can set a schedule if you want, and of course all the uninstall options

Bt, awsome work, wish I had you for a neighbor. Question, scince going to 3.0 my usb tether stopped working, is it not supported in 3.0 ?
First of all... Thanks Chainfire!!!! This is totally based on your work.... i made only some MOD....
Ok, the work is quite finished... the CF-ROOT for I9003 is ready!
I called this "beta version" (since i need your tests/opinions) but all might work.
IMPORTANT: This is only for KPH Firmware!!!
You can flash this over any other CWM or over the stock FW.
Many people will ask "Why i have to install this?"... because with this your phone will have:
- Root ( don't need to use SOC or any ZIP);
- Busybox 1.17.2;
- Sqlite3 v3.7.2;
- init.d support (you can put in the folder /system/etc/init.d all the script that you want to be loaded at the startup);
- New fixed CWM ( unyaffs issue has been fixed - offline charge fixed - USB storage mode while in CWM fixed);
- Add EXT4 support to the phone ( so you can convert the filesystem to ext4 to improve performance);
- full working CWM Manager (backup - restore - delete backup - install apk - flash update.zip - flash kernel - reboot to CWM);
- Tweaks Manager with various tweak ( Ram Min Free - SD Speed - I/O Scheduler - Kernel Scheduler - CPU Conservative Governor - Swappiness - Ram Script by Juwe11 - Media Stagefright)---> Many people asked for Juwe Ram Script ---> to enable it completely choose in the Tweaks Manager: Ram Script - Ram Min Free and Swappiness;
- Auto ZIP-Align on boot - You can choose it in the tweaks app(NEW)
- Reviewed tweaks values (some from darky's rom some from hardcore some from other post in XDA)( thanks to bigeyes0x0 and Misledz )(NEW)
- Custom Boot-Animation support (place your custom bootanimation in /system/media/ and call it sanim.zip)(NEW)
To do:
- other tweaks suggested by you...
- whatever can be added.
Let me know what you think
HERE you can find the original post.
HOW TO INSTALL:
1- Flash with Odin the .tar file
or...if you went from a previous version of CF-ROOT
2- Download the .zip file into the external SD the open CWM Manager --> flash Kernel --> select the file you have just downoaded
IMPORTANT:
If you cannot find the two apps on your app drawer maybe you haven't space left on /system so delete some unused apps like aldiko, delere /system/cfroot folder and reboot
IMPORTANT/2: after the flash the phone might take some time to boot. You might think that it freeze on Samsung Logo but it's normal cause the auto-zipalign proc need some time. Just Wait.
UPDATE: Added CF-ROOT with my custom kernel. This have Ext4 inside the kernel (no modules) and OC to 1.1 Ghz. I think that it is secure. I haven't test it very well so please report me the issues you will find.
!
Version 05.09.2011 Changelog:
- added Graphics Boost Tweak (thanks Gana)
- added acid tweaks (thanks to the people that worked on it .. specially Bigeyes0x0);
- reviewed 00tweaks file by Bigeyes0x0;
To disable journaling on ext4 partition apply the attached journaloff.zip in CWM (Not CWM Manager app - it must be fixed).
There're two version of the CF-ROOT, the version with **CWM_Manager** can be flashed with CWM Manager App (select flash kernel) the other with odin (like always)
UPDATE 20.10.2011:
CF-ROOT for XXKPM can be found HERE:
- Standard Version --> http://www.multiupload.com/S463K75UED
- Surprise version ( i suggest you this) --> http://www.multiupload.com/G20L6PL5WC
What's new ?
- I finally finished the custom bootanimation support.... now works like he have to works. Just copy your bootanimation into /system/media and rename it to sanim.zip.... i think that here you can find what you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17322814#post17322814
IMPORTANT!!!
If you have installed the beta version you must know that the ext4 conversion for that doesn't work properly. Ok, system, cache and dbdata will be on ext4 but data not. This because the init binary check on boot if /data have rfs FS and, if not, it format the partition wiping all your data.
In the new version i modified the init binary so it cannot do it more
I must say that i became mad to discover this damn thing !
A few questions: Are you using the latest fixed version of CWM? Also you mentioned that you would be releasing another update soon regarding the Nandroid backup image corruption issue. Is it in this release?
Also: Is this an alternative to ROM manager, apart from the inclusion of the tweaker tool?
Regarding the enhancements, could you please elaborate on some of them and what is safe/not safe to use (particularly in the tweaks and what they do)?
What I understood, after looking over all the posts, was that you optimized the CF-Root by chainfire for the i9003, by using a compatible Root, CWM, and adding an ext4 kernel? Are you going to port the ext4 converter tool as well? Will we be able to use an external SD card with ext4 formatting (Could be used to store files larger than 4GB)?
Sorry about the ton of questions. Trying to learn, and what better way to learn than from the best!
I'm going to take it out for a test drive now on XXKPE with ext4! Will report back later!
Thanks for your valuable work, I'm a huge fan!!!
Cheers
Update: Confirming that the passive charging bug has been fixed! Thanks Skin1980!
I cannot find the CWM or Tweaks icons in the app drawer as indicated in your screenshots. I can access CWM recovery mode using the 3 button combo though.
I had installed the last version of CWM by Amit and formatted with ext4 and I just used ODIN to flash over that install. I tried flashing again, still not appearing in app drawer. Any solutions?
Great job skin.. Hoping for the early release of a stable one.. Will test it later

Auguri! Ok wow, This is pure genius . I've always been wondering what our CWM were based off. I guess using this would fix most issues people get when flashing CWM, since it's based off the original firmware
Also I'm loving the tweaks, they seem to make the phone more smooth, Although I've seen a few bugs after applying this I can't seem to use the V6 charger script anymore I get an error, will be posting one shortly. There are some minor hiccups in between and I tend to get FC on some apps when I multitask.
Edit: Turns out It's busybox related, no shell access. I've tried launching Busybox by Stericsons to check and It says no root access was given and boots me out.
i happy that u r belong to this community
Is there any recovery module or tweak available, in which we can handle basic file operation like copy, move from sd card to system or any thing similar?

1- The CWM used is always the last... if i'll update the CWM i'll update the CF-ROOT;
2- The CWM fixed reguard nandroid backup is under test;
3- My CWM isn't ROM Manager compatible... with the CWM Manager from Chainfire you can do a lot of things without going into CWM
4 - to convert in EXT4 just follow the guide on the other thread;
5- Not sure if you can format in XT4 your external_sd... try ;
6- The tweak are all sure... now i haven't time to exlplain better... some don't work.... some other work.
7- If the icon don't appear in app drawer try to check into system/app if the two files are there... if not try to remove /system/cfroot folder and reboot. Maybe your system folder is full so you can install they manually, the original apk are inside /res/misc/ folder.

What your asking for is impossible.
Update!
The problem I had turned out to be due to the lack of space in the "/system" folder - as you had predicted Skin1980! Once I deleted some unnecessary software, I was up and running fully within minutes!
The phone works great! The fixes are really good! Having no issues except for one so far. I can't seem to mound "sdcard" in CWM recovery mode and cannot do a restore, for the same reason, from the CF-ROOT menu.
I have a feeling it's something I did wrong earlier, so I'll reflash completely and try again ('cause I have a lotta time on my hands atm and I want the bestest possible phone I can get).
Note: This doesn't seem to be compatible with DDKB2. Assuming that this is mainly for GB firmwares? Can someone corroborate this?
As usual, thanks!

I did notice that initially it was fast. But as I kept it going through the day to recalibrate the battery, it did slow down and start to lag. I thought it was something to do with that. Also I felt that I had done something wrong with the flashing.
Going to overhaul my phone completely: Format, re-partition, XXKPE install (flashing twice), flash fixed CWM from the other thread, root using SOP 2.1.1, install busybox requirements for deodexing (this failed for me the last few times), restore settings using Titanium Backup, Nandroid backup, ext4 this baby, restore, and then install CF-ROOT to monitor.
Wish me luck! See you guys on the other side... again!

You've got the wrong thread mate!
Your bandwidth is capped by you operator and is dependent on how much they allocate you. On top of that 2G is physically limited to certain speeds which, usually, cannot be surpassed by legal means, and the illegal ones give you too less of a boost vs complications and errors to even bother about (I mean big ass hardware)!

To quote Technohacker1995:
Things to take a note of
This ROM is still a Work In Progress. As such, some features do not work, as listed ahead
GApps is NOT RECOMMENDED as there is very low amount of /system partition space
Make sure you keep a backup of your files. If flashing from stock, this WILL wipe every partition
This ROM does not come with CJK fonts to make it fit in the /system partition. Therefore, Chinese text rendering will be broken
This ROM does not come with AOSP WebView or Chromium. They will be offered separately
This ROM is not rooted. Flash a root zip manually.
Steps to flash
Reboot to Recovery.
Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
Reboot
Current port is based on Omni ROM, this will be changed to LineageOS soon.
All credit is given to Technohacker1995, and dhiru.
Known Issues
To quote Technohacker1995,
Things that work:
WiFi
Bluetooth
Internal storage
Vibrator control
Initial Setup
Button backlight
Things that are WIP
RIL: Broken on Lineage
IMEI baseband
Carrier and signal strength was detected on Omni
Things that are broken:
GPS: Has a dependency on RIL
Camera2: Crashes on taking a picture
FM: Had to be disabled. Will be enabled sooner or later
Anything not explicitly stated to work
*The Google Apps package may cause some issues because of limited space, pick a very slim gapps package.

If u want to create new threads then as u wish. Anyway just for information that Dhiru is able to boot JB whose screenshot I have attached in here. Many things are not wotking which were wotking in cm9. So thats why he has not released yet in public. These updates he puts on facebook but I never post those things here. Because noobs will just ruin the whole thread by asking ETA. Dhiru is working on new hardware drivers released by TI sources which will improve JB UI.
I hope JB discussion will remain in this thread only. If noobs start to flood cm9 development thread then really I am going to report about those silly noobs to moderators.

What's working and what's not?
Working:
Camera - Yes, this means Camcorder also works! 1080P Video shooting and playback work great.
Bluetooth
WiFi
Audio
SD Card Storage
Battery Meter
And of course Hardware Acceleration!
Not Working:
RIL (Mobile Network) - This means no calls, no SMS, no Data, no anything related to the functions of your SIM Card! T-Mobile WiFi Calling also doesn't work.
Information On Dual Booting Roms
Since we currently have an issue with the network radio on our CM10 roms, most people will not be able to use this rom as a daily driver, and would prefer to stay on a fully functioning GB rom. This dual booting method lets us have the best of both worlds! You can have a buttery smooth and fast CM10 rom for enjoying all of Android Jellybean 4.2.1 goodies and a fully function Gingerbread rom when ever you need to make a call and such. For now, this is the best we can do. It's simple and very fast to switch between roms. What else could you ask for? ;D
Installation Instructions Including Dual Booting
DISCLAIMER
I (WE) AM NOT RESPONSIBLE of any damages to your device related to the use of this ROM or the dualboot toolkit. You do this at your own risk. Even though this has been tested and works well, using NVFLASH may brick your device if done incorrectly.
This ROM comes in two flavours: The dualboot toolkit or the Original flashable ROM
Dualboot ROM Instructions
WARNING! NVFLASH will format EVERYTHING, including internalSD. Make sure you backup your important files on your externalSD card
PART 1 - Resizing system partition
1) Unzip the dualboot toolkit and unzip NVFLASH_Resizer-G2X.zip.
2) Power off your phone and remove the battery. Keep vol. up and vol. down held and plug the phone via USB to a WINDOWS computer.
3) Windows should add an "APX driver". Go to control panel -> Device manager and right click on it -> Update driver -> search in system. Then, browse to the drivers folder inside the NVFLASH package and choose nvidiausb.inf. Approve any error messages (Windows 8 users read my FAQ). Install the Nvidia Fastboot driver.
4) Unplug your phone and hold down vol.up and vol.down. Replug it again and double click on flash.bat inside the NVFLASH folder. KEEP BOTH BUTTONS HELD DOWN DURING THE WHOLE PROCESS!.
5) When NVFLASH is done, unplug the phone and put back the battery. Reboot into recovery with power + vol. down. Plug it back and go to mounts and storage -> mount USB storage. If your PC asks to format the internal SD card, select yes.
PART 2 - Installing ROMS
1) Download the desired "call/SMS" ROM and extract boot.img from it's flashable zip. Rename it to boot1.img. Extract Step3_bootimg.zip from the dualboot toolkit and copy-paste boot1.img into system/boot, replacing the file that is already there. Repack Step3_bootimg.zip.
2) Copy-paste your desired ROM into the 0dualboot folder and send it to your device SDcard with everything it contains (your device should already be in the "mount USB storage" menu).
3) From the recovery, flash Step1_enabler.zip. When the screen goes black, hold power + vol. down to get back into recovery.
4) Flash your desired ROM, then Step2_ROM1.zip. Reboot to the OS.
5) You should have a Systemchanger app. Open it, click on "Switching" and give root permissions. When the screen goes black (again...), hold power + vol. down to get into recovery.
6) Flash ROM2.zip and Step3_Bootimg.zip and reboot in the OS
And there you go! To switch from one OS to another, just open the systemchanger app and click on "switching"!
Credits to bihariel for the original method. See the original thread here.
Original flashable zip ROM instructions
1) Boot into recovery with power + vol. down
2) Wipe data/cache, then mounts and storage -> format system
3) Flash this ROM
4) Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions
5) Reboot and enjoy!
Special trick : In settings, go to About phone and click 6 times on Build number. This will pop up the developer and performances options. In performances options, CPU settings, change the governor from INTERACTIVE to SMARTASSV2.

> Bluetooth icon at top of screen did not turn off "connected" status when I turned off my headset (BlueAnt q2.1)
> Had a few freezes. Installed SetCPU to keep max speed at 1015MHz but still some stops. Some out of nowhere, some in the middlle of doing stuff
> Finally started shutting down often. Tried to get a terminal emulator from the Market, but Market started crashing, even after several reboots. Could not get a kmsg to send.
Reinstalled my nandroid. No time at the moment to play more, need my phone reliable for some days to come. Hope lots of people try this kernel out and that I get more time with it. Nice to have new Dev activity for the G2x.
Quick question, i was wondering if it matters what zip tool we are using? Can i use 7zip for this, or should i use winzip?

Shouldn't matter, but I always use Winrar.
Micro SD card not detected
I was following along the steps and everything was going well until step 5 in part 1. when i rebooted my phone into recovery and pulged it into the PC nothing happened even though i followed exactly what the steps say, then i continued on and everything was going well until the end, where i found out that i couldn't get the data that I backed up to my Micro SD card because the phone doesn't see it.
Please help, I'm a noob around here.
I appreciate all the great work

No it didn't. My build computer broke and I need to setup a new HDD with my build environment. I'll make a new version as soon as possible.
hello,
I have dualboot now with hellfire2.4.2 and cm10 mazout's. So one is cm 7 and the other one is cm 10, I want to flash kernel but how? If I flash cm7 kernel will it block the cm10 rom or vice-versa?
guys I have just realized that I do not have dualboot after that steps
5) You should have a Systemchanger app. Open it, click on "Switching" and give root permissions. When the screen goes black (again...), hold power + vol. down to get into recovery.
6) Flash ROM2.zip and Step3_Bootimg.zip and reboot in the OS
I had systemchanger app and clicked on switching after that I flashed mazout's rom then when I open app drawer in cm10 rom, I noticed that I do not have systemchanger app anymore nor camera app.?? what should I do? If I do all steps all over again sould it be working ?

If you flash another ROM, you have to flash the corresponding stepX....zip file right after before rebooting, else you won't have the dualboot app.
Since android 4.2.2 just got out, I'll wait until it gets stable and make my upcoming build out of it For now, my phone battery doesn't work very well so I can't really test anything until I get a new one.
Hey. I got everything to work and am dualbooting nicely. My problem is kernel. I flashed a recent CM7 with this and everything went fine. Then I went to install the most recent CM7 kernel from Maz (the OC) and that works until I switch to Rom2 and back. Then the wifi gets an error and wont do anything. The kernel wont stick. Did I miss something?
Also, last night went to bed with my phone charging and when I woke up my phone was burning hot. Had Max OC at 1100.
Thanks! Works great having a taste of 4.2.1 and a phone!

thank you, I see the problem now, and two question more; do I have to redo PART 1 - Resizing system partition everytime when I install different rom combinations or reinstall same roms and does that Resizing system partition harmful/useless or slows down the phone IF I only use 1 ROM?
I'm considering the dual boot, but want to know if it's possible to go back to single boot if/[hopefully] when radio is fixed. I suppose it'll be a matter of using original nvflash and format to have only one partition?
*edit1* Ok, now I'm getting my toes wet with this. fastboot.bin...what am I doing with this? The instructions say "install NVidia fast boot." Ok, but how? Or, has it already been installed with APX? I'm confused.
*edit2* ok I have dual boot! Wow this is interesting. Been running it through different combinations of reboots through system changer, and it seems when I update gb to the latest mazkrnl it won't stick after switching to jb and back again.
Do I need to use the boot.img from the kernel and repack it into step3?

Oh shoots. Somewhere along the line I managed to break the wifi
MAC address comes up as unavailable in jb, just says error whenever I try to turn it on in gb. I'm thinking start the process over?

You need to flash a kernel. I am having the same problem, but flashing a kernel after switching back to GB fixes everything.
Edit: fyi I use maz's latest kernel 0205OC

So, you mean that after using system switcher app, do power+vol up and flash kernel? Because any time I've tried that it only works on the first instance when i boot into gb. Once i go to jb and back again, the kernel goes back to stock. I'll try again though. Maybe fix permissions too!

When you system switch back to GB, reboot back into recovery and flash a kernel. I wouldn't say it goes back to stock because if it did there wouldn't be a wifi error like that. But for some reason JB works fine nothing wrong I have seen yet, though I just noticed I don't have a camera/gallery.
After switching back and forth so much I just flash the kernel and don't do anything else because nothing has seemingly changed if I wipe anything or fix anything.
If Maz has answer for this I would be much appreciated or anyone else for that matter.

Edit: figured it out. A new boot1.img does need to get made with the new kernel already installed.
I created a new boot.img per the instructions on the original dual boot for p990 thread with maz kernel. Then I repacked step3_bootimg. Reflashed rom2 and the step3, then voila! So, you have to redo a couple steps if you want to update one rom's kernel.
Pic no longer related.
guys im having some trouble, when i go to the systemchanger app and grant permission instead of the screen going blank it gets stuck on a screen with two lg logos.
i think i havent installed the fastboot drivers correctly. i assumed it gets installed when i run flash.bat, but it may need to be installed seperately. if it needs to be installed how do i do it cause its just a .bin file and i have no idea what to do with it
