Cm10 nightly builds. For Verizon GS3. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I would like to post this in the correct thread but I guess I have to have 10 or more posts to do so. I would just like to help the development of CM10 buy sharing my experience with the nightly builds. In build 10/05 seemed everything was running smooth. Build 10/07, and build 10/08, screen rotation back to portrait from landscape not working. It worked in nightly 5. For example, if watching YouTube video you turn to portrait to watch the video then pause the video, turn back to portrait and it stays on landscape. You have to hit the back button to get back. Just trying to give you a heads up. Love the rom though. It's my favorite.

Well I figured out the problem. I have been dirty flashing the nightly udates. Well I was thinking about it and thought to try and do a factory reset ,wipe cache wipe delvik and reinstall new update and that took care of my screen rotation issues. Running smooth again.

Not to be rude but the correct place to post it would be in the nightly thread.

do you guys actually factory reset your phone prior to each nightly? I never do it and never have issues

Normal routine for me is to update my Titanium Backup backups and dirty flash, not even wipe cache or anything.
If I run into problems, then I go back and wipe the caches see if it fixes it, if not, factory wipe and re-flash and restore my TiBu backups...
99.9% time I don't run into any problems and only have to do the dirty flash.
It's very frowned upon though to dirty flash and post about bugs or problems you're having without doing a full wipe first.

I also do not wipe my phone for nightly updates. I have in the past, when trying to troubleshoot a problem, but I dont believe its actually fixed anything when I have. When I used the new CM updater, even that didnt wipe my phone. Might do yourself a favour to not mention dirty flash in the official thread, that term seems to set some people off on a tantrum.

Hmm, have you tried the latest or the M2 build? I just switched back to Synergy for this weekend because I'm traveling, but I've been reading a lot of good things about M2...
Perhaps do a clean flash for that and see what happens?? Good luck!

Cyanogenmod 7.2 kang (built 1/20/11)

Alright, I noticed you guys haven't seen a nightly release in a while and since I made this for a friend of mine and even gave it to my brother, I figured everyone should have it too. This is basically Cyanogenmod 7.2. No, I will not build CM9 for your device, and I probably won't end up maintaining this release (I might, not sure.)
The Rules:
Don't report bugs, this is a nightly also I am sure bugs will be picked up already. Treat this as any CM nightly. Wipe before flashing (unless coming from a previous pure CM build and even then, wipe cache and dalvik.
Instructions:
Download > Wipe Data, system, dalvik, and cache. > flash > enjoy
Download link:

Gapps:

Enjoy guys.
Did a complete system wipe, flashed and booted. It gets to the setup dialogs and before I can do anything it reboots into a continuous cycle. Can anyone else confirm?

not to gripe, just purely sharing my experience
the shift has problems making and recieving calls. No audio is the problem. A restart solves it, but it comes back at its leisure. Another problem is that the time doesnt stay synched with the network. I flashed using Clockwork and Twrp. I made sure to wipe x3, and i reDL'd the rom x3 already aswell. Everything else seemed fine.

How can I make the camera work in CM10?

I flashed the latest official nightly for CM10 and sure it's pretty buggy, but the biggest thing to me that's really bothering me is the closing of the app or rebooting of my phone when I try to use the camera or video camera as well as apps related to them. Is there any current fix or should I just wait for an upcoming nightly?

Well then I did that!

I would try reflashing, or getting a slightly older nightly just to check. I haven't had any problem with the camera on CM10 for quite a few builds now.
Yeah, sorry dude, mine works fine too . Had it happen one time on the last build but its worked fine since then.
Rumor has it.....some people got a bad batch of gapps with gallery issues. Make sure you're on 7/26 gapps. Also some have said that wiping cache/data for gallery actually cleared the problem up too. Its pretty random the people with camera issues, but its definately a common thing still. See the cm10 official thread and there are a LOT of ideas about it floating around.
Did you restore anything strange with TiBackup or anything? It's a long shot, but I noticed after accidentally restoring a "system app" from GB to JB, it caused me some problems (wasn't a GSIII phone though). I wiped & reflashed ROM to fix my issues, but it sounds like you've done that well enough.
Does your camera not work immediately after flashing CM10?

First thing I would do is a permissions repair. fixing permissions can iron out all kinds of little issues.
You can do it through rom manager but I've never trusted it to do much properly so I always do permissions repair through recovery.
So, I already had the latest version of Gapps, I fixed the permissions, cleared the data/cache of the gallery, and flashed the latest nightly "8/22" yet it still isn't working. It's a pity having such a great ROM with such a potentially large drawback. I'm very much still open to more suggestions! I have nowhere near the Linux literacy of a developer, but push me to try something out of the ordinary and I can figure it out with not too much help!

[ROM][CM10] Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 Nightlies Topic

I have not seen a thread for CM10 yet. I know Steve has posted for some other devices, but not for the N7, so I figure might as well have one until a maintainer starts one. I am not a developer or a part of the CM team, I just feel a need for a thread for people to post questions, comments, answers, etc for this ROM.

Running 09/07 no reboots here. Must have been a bug with the build I was on, I stayed at the second nightly for a while
Is it just me or did they take the nightlies off ROM manager?
Had a soft reboot some nightlies ago, that's all.
The only annoying bug I found is with the wifi. If I set it to never sleep, the battery drains relatively fast. If I set it to sleep when the screen is turned off, sometimes when I turn back on the screen the wifi "hangs" in "searching for wifi networks". The only solution then is reboot.
Other than that, it's been great.
cm-10-20120909-EXPERIMENTAL-grouper-burnsra.zip is unbootable for me, it just loads CM bootanimation forever. I can't get into recovery to restore backup either :/ probably have to get on a computer with ADB.
edit: nvm just got into recovery. We're good. Don't try running 09/09 people!
Any idea why on any cm10 builds my instant uploads/picasa web albums don't show up in my gallery?
0909 is bootable, but from what I can tell it needs a full data wipe before it'll boot properly. Not sure what got changed, but it's experimental for sure!

There is a PicSync version and a non-PicSync version. As of now, you have to chose between PicSync (Picasa Web Albums) and the CM customized camera. Obviously, on the Nexus 7, we're not missing out on much by foregoing the CM camera.

Thanks for the work on this ROM . Its probably the most fun I've had with one, since you can easily mod the colors and stuff. Anyway the only problem I have is the WiFi signal and battery won't accept the color changes, but the clock will. Also the analog clock won't work, keeps throwing up a message saying it has stopped working. I know these are very minor but pro lens none the less. Thanks again.

Problem with calls after using a headset
First i want to say I love this rom, seems to me to be the most stable jb rom i've tried. The only problem I seem to have is when I listen to audio (music, audio books) on headphones and a call comes in. When i unplug the headphones to answer the call I can't hear the other end and they can't hear me. The only way to fix it is to reboot the phone. Is anyone else having this problem?

If I am not mistaken when you have headphones in and unplug them it turns sound off. you need to go to the dialer and hit the sound button. Or just answer the call with the headphones in. Let me know if that works for you

Interface lag in AOSP ROMs shortly after install

I was hoping anyone here could relate to the problem my brother and I are having with pretty much all AOSP ROMs. Every time we install an AOSP ROM after even completely wiping everything except ext SD, after about an hour of run time to smoothness of the ROM goes away. The pull down is all choppy as well as scrolling the home screens. A reboot fixes it temporarily for around a minute or so and it goes back. We did find one AOSP nightly from the 15th that remained smooth but that was it.
If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this I would be eternally thankful. We have searched up and down and can't believe no one else is complaining of this. This is happening on both of our devices where pretty much the only similarity is that we use TWRP and update it regularly.
Thanks again for any advice you can provide.

The reason people aren't complaining is because they haven't had that problem yet. The only thing I can tell you is when flashing ROMs make sure you completely wipe 2-3 times as for some reason with TWRP you have to do that to get some ROMs to work.

then you guys might have to switch CWM recovery as I flashed most of the AOSP ROMs with no problems.

You really don't have any stuttering whatsoever with AOSP roms? Hmm.
I would think though if it was TWRP wouldn't a lot more people be having this problem? I will try CWM though.
Just wanted to update the thread. We have tried switching recoveries to CWM, also tried running the rom with absolutely nothing but Gapps. Same result after a few hours. This is on two completely separate devices, we can't be the only ones. Any additional advice would be really appreciated. This is driving us crazy!
I get pretty bad lag on carbon rom, flashing with CWM. Any other aosp rom runs fine but carbon seems to not like my phone

Carbon was the worst so far for me as well.
That goes with the fact not everyone will have the same results when flashing ROMs.
