Just switched from android 2.3 to 4.0
On 2.2 the Internet browser used to auto-wrap text on zoom - so like for this forum i could pinch to zoom and any text would automatically zoom and wrap to screen size (to avoid panning)
Also noticed it would only scroll EITHER up/down OR left/right whcih made it really easy to scroll down a column of text without it wandering all over
On 4.0 it has 2 default browsers (incl Google Chrome) and neither behave like this - I have to either set font size in settings or double-click to zoom the browser but neither will wrap the text so it can be read easily - crap actually
Dunno whether auto-zoom-text-wrapping (Black berry used to call it "columning" text) is an attribute of the OS or browser
So in the first instance I'm just looking for the 2.3 gingerbread browser - so if anyone can give me the name of the browser I'll try and install it thanks

It wouldn't work with ICS most likely anyway. I'd look for a browser on the market with that feature.

The feature about which you are talking about is already there in Opera Mini for Android.

Actually isn't - but did discover sometime later that it is in Opera Mobile (not Mini)

Hi, my question concerns the standard Android webkit browser and the possibility to control the representation of opened weblinks, that e.g. contain only a jpg photo, something like that:
link text
I liked to have the possibility that the browser is fits the content width by default to the screen width (before allowing further zooming).
The menu for the browser settings does not show that option and I didn't manage to find something else.
Has anyone an idea how to achieve that browser behavior, aligning opened photos to the screen width?
By the way: the Iris Browser version for Windows Mobile is also webkit based and provides the option 'fit content width by default' and does then the expected. Since both are webkit based I would expect that Android browser could do the same.
Remark: since the webpage with these links is on my own server, I could also adapt the html pages, played a bit with settings for Meta viewport tag and with css settings, but without success, any idea also for that?
Br Bernie
Double tapping does the job quite well for me with text, but I don't know how it handles images. Pinch zooming doesnt fit the content to my screen width.
-- LG Optimus One (I seriously need a sig. Editing now xD)
Thx for answering, double tapping may help, but this is not what I want, I like to have the fit to screen just from the start, just when link is opened, without further action. As the old Winmob Iris webkit browser could do... Finally would have to ask the Android developpers...
The GT 7.0 plus is my first Honeycomb (HC) tablet (all my other phones and tabs have Gingerbread (GB)).
Unlike in GB, I notice on my GT7+, text does not reflow in the browser after I zoom in and double-tap (the so-called "manual reflow" method). Instead it just pans out (zooms out) to overview again.
I already googled this and found older posts about Froyo having this problem. I also found new posts from people who just bought the latest Galaxy Tab 2 having the same problem. I wonder if this is a Samsung problem or HC problem.
Yes I have the "Auto fit page" checked in the stock browser. I also tried Dolphin browser (my default browser) which has the same problem.
Try opera
Sent from my myTouch 4g via Tapatalk
Yes Opera auto text reflow works - but it is not as fast and smooth as the stock browser or Dolphin.
I don't understand why auto text reflow does not work in the stock browser, though there is an option to enable / disable it.
Stock browser reflows the text but only when using the double tap zoom.
Sent from my GT-P6210
Yes I know text reflow with double-tap zoom - but double-tap zoom only zoom to a fixed level.
In my original Galaxy Tab and all other Gingerbread phones and tablets, when I pinch-zoom-in to any random zoom level, then double-tap, text will reflow in that particular level of zoom.
Use boat browser and never look back.
That reflow may not work always, depending on the site, figures or objects.

First of all: bravo! The browser looks awesome!
After that, I'd like to show you some little problems I've met on my lil' Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0": (sorry I can't add pics)
if you compare the real space for the page that Chrome is giving us:
http: //dl.dropbox.com/u/315701/Screenshot_2012-09-17-22-44-47.png
with the one that your app is providing (is it yours, btw?)
http: //dl.dropbox.com/u/315701/Screenshot_2012-09-17-22-53-03.png
you'll discover that there's really too little space for the web pages :\
I know, there are maybe just few pixels less, but that big fat gray bar is killing me lol
why don't you use all the available space for the bookmarks/start page?
http: //dl.dropbox.com/u/315701/Screenshot_2012-09-17-22-43-57.png
could you please provide the user agent for tablets in the list of the available choices? just use the one that the Nexus 7 is using, for example (as a workaround I've set the one that Chrome is using)
Keep up the good job!

Thankyou For Installing HoloWeb Which Bottom Bar Don't You Like ?
Whats the difference with tint browser?
Im using tint... and would using holo too if there will be playstore automatic updates)
But i want to know whats the difference with tint
Not bad. Maybe takes a second to render clear text when scrolling but its good.
Good one! But still a plenty of work to do. SwiftKey is not showing predictions wherever I type - a login or a message. Used it about ten minutes, in the end I couldn't launch the keyboard tapping on a blank field.
The good thing is I could choose the words to quote in a forum. Stock jb browser and opera fail to do it.
Bravo! Looking forward to seeing this updated!
Great browser, pages loads extremely fast!
2 things though:
- That bar on the end of the page could be more transparent so we could be able to see more of the page
- I don't know if it's just with me but after typing the web adress I want using Swype keyboard and hiting enter button the page don't start loading, I need to click on the browser button to do so and it's a bit annoying.
Despite those 2 things , congrats, it's a great app and definitely I'm setting it as my main browser!
This is tint I assume?
Need better navigation between tabs and get rid of that stupid semi-transparent bar at the bottom.

Pretty good so far. Sexy as hell. Not liking that white bar at the top though, and it has some lag/stuttering.
So far so good on my Sensation running Jelly Bean
Very fast browser. Should add a option to toggle the bottom search bar from showing after scrolling the page. Also a dark/blue theme would be awesome. Look forward to future updates.

Exellent. But maybe you cloud replace that bar at the bottom to an Small button in an corner

Hello guys, I just found this browser in Play Store. This is not my work. I just thought I'd like to share. This browser is so customizable and so light, only about 1MB. The best part is it's total free. Give it a shot, guy!
Description:
"HabitBrowser" is a feature-rich Web browser.
Various operations can be comfortable using the quick menu.
- For quick menu
Appears in the "Tap and Hold" to the Center from the side of the screen
- For menu icon
Not using the quick menu, toolbar is set to or toolbar hidden menu is displayed when the menu, all is not set
* If you have enabled the setting that you do not use the menu icon does not always appear
Please enable for example, when the menu button is present on terminal
- For user scripts
It does not correspond to the "@match" "@require"
- For setting POST downloads
Please set to OFF if the operation such as the login form will not be successful
- For information about selecting text
After you tap the location where you want to select, please run the menu "Select Text"
- For Mouse Cursor
move the cursor with one finger
tap the cursor position on tap
long tap the cursor position on long tap
scroll with two fingers
Operation check terminal:
Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1
Xperia VL 4.0.4
Get it on Play Store: http://goo.gl/mOzda. Please rate 5 stars if you like the app.
Please note:
Since this is not my work, if you have any suggestion/issue just go to menu in the app and tap "Send feedback."
How to enable text reflow:
Check "Auto-fit page" under the "Settings"-"Content". Then whenever you want text reflow just tap the screen twice quickly after zooming in. It should do the trick though doesn't work everytime. The dev is independent.
User Agents:
I just updated and added new User Agents. Grab here: http://goo.gl/Wo5mH
Updated: iPhone and iPad.
Added: Blackberry, Chrome Desktop, Opera Mini, and Symbian S60.
Enjoy!
Try this setting http://goo.gl/KweAu if you face any issue. See if it fix.
How to: Go to Settings-Advance-Import Settings-Locate the downloaded file-Select-Check User Agents/Settings-Tap Ok. That's it.

wow, tons of options, will take a while to go through all.
Found a small bug
Default zoom, far and close are mixed up.
Actually close is far and the other way around
This browser is amazing. Habit can outsmart chrome and other big brothers easily In terms of speed and performance. Tons of options ,Configurable themes
Disc control is awesome.
in terms off speed this stands next to opera mini. But with full features.
Every thing in <2 MB great
Thanks for sharing
AW: [APP] [4.0.3+] Habit Browser: The Most Powerful Browser
Performance has quite a lot of space to improve, the wheel is kind of weird,I think a sort of pie would be better.
Still like the big customizing options, they're even kind if overwhelming.
Would like to see a black and white only theme in three future

I don't comment much in this section. However, this browser is really very good! Silly as it may sound, I like Firefox because it has a "quit" option. I love how you've even put thought into the quit function! The browser is fast and lightweight too. Great work!

Simply awesome!
Trying the browser out. Excellent customisation and theming options. A few suggestions
- Help section or FAQ on the various options
- Is it possible to keep the browser synced with your desktop bookmarks like the stock Jelly Bean browser does?
- Can text be made to reflow and auto fit the screen when zooming in and out.
Zoom text reflow missing, otherwise excellent.

Update http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/boat-browser-hd-lux-screen-brightness-t2821205
All this applies to the X: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610531
Posting/text box editing works well enough but now on the X, long press/select text (non editing) & any uploads do not work.
Yet freezing is not happening on the X.
Also the Kii keyboard has no conflicts with Maxthon HD either.
SO: Using Maxthon HD for reading/most posting, having the fabulous horizontal compression with the Quick Access editable/movable fav icons IS so good,
And: Having to use Chrome to upload attachments is not so bad.
