Clicking sound while in camera app? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So while I'm in the camera app there's a click coming from the inside of the phone every 3-5 second and it's only in the camera app. I'm guessing that it's coming from the vibration motor. Any ideas??

Don't need to be in the app, just shake your phone and you will hear it clicking around.........intentional design that all one x will have so your phone is fine:beer:

Thanks for the quick reply but when I shake my phone it's a completely different rattle sound. The one in the camera app is more like a springy sound and in a different location and it happens when I'm holding the phone still and when I click the shutter button(but also when I just hold the phone still in the camera app). It also didn't happen with my old one x.

I'm not sure, maybe Ur camera has an issue then. I'm holding hox intestines in my hand as I type and there is nothing that moves except the camera click.....maybe worth getting checked out, also try a 3rd party app and see if it does the same

That's the lens auto focusing and sometimes get crazy
dont worry man it's normal.
mine does that too.

Thanks. I noticed after I uninstalled a night camera app
that it started doing it less and less.

Camera lens clicking sound when focusing

When the camera re focus's on something I can hear a click sound coming from the lens area. Anyone else confirm this?
Just put your hand over the lense and you should hear it, then take it away and repeat.
Mine does this as well. It seems to do it more when it's trying to focus on something very close.
Same here, but with the all the noise my dslr makes I ignored it.

I have this as well. As long as it doesn't affect the camera I'm ok with it. It only takes a light shake for mine rattle.

Slight rattle for me too, I know it's not the power or volume though. But it's a non issue.

It's normal, mine does it too. I believe it's the focus mechanism in the camera. My previous iPhone 4s did the same thing.
*Edit* I just shot a few pics outside in the sun and I must say.....this camera takes incredible pics. They are on par or better than my iPhone 4s camera shot.
Yep mine too, don't worry

It's probably the shudder. My old moto photon used to do that as well.

[Q] APN and Capacitive buttons questions

I just got my One X and everything seems fine so far, though I'll need to go to AT&T tomorrow to setup a new sim, because as far as I know, My old SIM won't work with the LTE right? I have the one from my old captivate that I cut into a micro sim for an iPhone 4 and I put that in the One X and the APN settings are wrong because they're the settings from the iPhone 4 I'm assuming. If anyone can help me out with the APN that would be great.
Another question I have is regarding the capacitive buttons. Do they only come on in the dark or all the time? I noticed that they weren't on but I turned off my lights and they came on.
Thanks in advance
My button lights are on all the time.

Mine seem to react automatically also. My home button also doesn't light up while the other two button do light up, so Ithink I have a faulty unit.

I would exchange it because of your home button issue. But nice to know that yours are light sensitive

If you put your finger over the light sensor (like a quater inch to the left of the AT&T logo) you can see that the capacitive buttons come on. Though I'm looking at mine right now and it seems like they don't go off automatically once I take my finger away.

Yes, mine works with a double tap on my Jawbone Era.

WOW! With my bluetooth headphones, it just requires one tap of the phone button, not two SWEEET!!!
Nice! Works with Plantronics M50, it still says "redial" though. Guess camera shoots on redial command and thats why its single/doubleclick on dofferent headsets.

All that left now is getting a tripod that holds the one s for shots...

[Q] Weird clicky noise when typing?

Hey guys,
Over the past few weeks I've realized a weird clicking noise when typing text messages. I do have "Vibrate feedback" enabled. Every time the phone vibrates from touch feedback, not only do I hear the normal sound of the vibration, but also an audible clicking noise. Is this normal? This sound was never an issue prior to a week ago.
Thanks
I get that too. It sounds like it's coming from inside the phone, not the speaker. But I think it's a common HTC one x flaw, because there are ALOT more people who have it also.

Try settings, language & keyboard, HTC Sense input, sound feedback.
On or off?
Sorry if I'm being captain obvious here, but I've overlooked simpler things myself.

probably the camera lens. put your ear next to the lense and lightly shake your phone. it's how the phone was designed
The noise surely isn't coming from the speaker. Maybe something loose within the phone? The lens noise is something I've noticed from the start, but this is unrelated.
Not something that is crazy annoying, but I was wondering if others had the same issue. Shaking the phone won't replicate the noise, and when I turn "Vibration feedback" off, the click will go away upon touching the screen.
It's a defect with the vibration motor. Of the 5 HOXs that I've gone through, 3 of them had it including my current one. It's annoying but it's the only problem my HOX has so I'm dealing with it.

Luckily I don't have this because I'm typing all the time. Seriously a lot. The camera lens click did worry me at first before I read this thread.
I occasionally get a clicky screen on the top though. Don't really press up there much.

yeah, it's how they designed it. I'm not sure the reasoning, but I do know that it was intentional
Using Swiftkey, I noticed that if I had my vibration duration too low (I think the default is 10ms) I would get the clicking and barely any vibration. Ramping it up at 20ms makes the vibration actually noticeable and the clicking stops. I think it may be the latency between you hitting the screen and the vibration motor kicking on that causes the clicking since (pulling numbers out of nowhere here...) the vibration motor may take 9.9ms to kick on after receiving a vibrate signal but at 10ms it receives an off signal so it just studders and causes a clicking noise.
Yea I get this too. This is my 3rd hox and all three have had it. I stopped worrying about it too much since I realized it has to be common. I noticed it after flashing different rooms since the vibration feedback when typing seems to feel more pronounced than on stock sense.

SwiftKey you can edit your own feedback. I set it to 20-25ms and it's fine.

I have the SAME exact thing. Definetely not the camera lens. Seems to be near the bottom of the phone. It's this clicky, poppy, tapping noise as if you are pulling apart two sticky objects. I agree that it seems like the vibration motor.
I had it on my desire gsm. I think its due to vibration kicking in.
Well I can try later, keyboard vibration off and see if it makes a click.
But never did annoys, I'm loving it actually, just like a typewriter.
Guys. It's the vibration feedback when typing. The response time must be different than the program time and it only kicks a little. I set my SwiftKey keyboard to 25ms vibration when typing. It's very nice. No clicks because it gives it enough time to vibrate and it feels good. Trust.

I'm have this same problem on a new HT 27 batch model. This is not just a SwfitKey typing issues a the capacitive buttons and the dialer all make the same clicky noise. I getting really bored of swapping my HOX now this is my third and what I thought was perfect is not. I will have to send my to HTC as it's out of the 28 days grrrr.
Mine has the same problem, it sounds and feels really wrong like it's scraping against something. I heard a friend who has the EVO 4g LTE say he has the same problem.
Makes me feel really bad about the phone, like they didn't care enough to test it properly.
Mine also does this if the vibrate feedback is enabled. I just disabled it and now I'm fine.

Thank you i was searching everywhere but not within this setting.
I have an HT25 i never get a click but aosp roms have much more intense vibration then sense roms. Wish i knew how to lower the intensity in CM10 and other aosp roms.

Vibration motor clicking?

Is it normal for the ATT hox to make a clicking noise when you press capacitive buttons or when typing? Does anyone else notice this? Its like a small clicking noise every 2 or 3 presses. I was just wondering if this was normal because my hox has no other problems. I have exchanged mine 4 times and don't want to do it again.
Normal-ish. Mine does it from time to time, and others' do also. Mostly when speed typing for me. Doesn't bother me. Or my phone, apparently.

I have noticed this every once in a while. It doesn't bother me much but it worried me in the beginning. I really notice it when pressing on the right side of the screen like when I am pressing the letter M. I don't think it is too much to worry about seeing as how many people have noticed it.
What do you guys think it might be caused by?
Maybe it can be fixed by a software update?
It does this to me sometimes. I noticed it before buy haven't noticed a lot lately. You can check if it's the case or screen
