Running rooted, stock 4.0.4 ICS. I'm trying to get rid of the "AT&T" floating in the middle of the lockscreen (what is it even doing there in the first place!?).
I've tried searching and haven't been able to dig anything up. Anyone know of a good solution?

Can you be a bit more specific?

EDIT:
What is meant by this:
"In strings .xml
in framework.apk"
What exactly am I looking for? And, where am I looking for it? I presume the place to start is the /system/framework folder, but there isn't a framework.apk file. There is a framework-res.apk and framework.jar, but no framework.apk file. There is also twframwork-res.apk and twframework.jar.. Do these TouchWiz APK's have anything to do with this? And does "In strings .xml" mean I'm looking for a file named strings.xml, or does that mean something entirely different? And once I find the correct file, what needs to be done with it? I'm baffled that these instructions could have somehow led Drahkarg to know what to do.. I'm not asking for a 12-step tutorial, but just a little bit more specific instructions as far as what the heck to do. FWIW - I'll go ahead and apologize in advance for asking someone to be more specific.. Being a relative Noob and all..
I understand now how to compile framework-res.apk on this phone from a previous question. I like to change the colors and texts to theme certain aspects of the phone, but I also like to turn on the CRT animation. I edit the bools.xml file to change animatescreenlights to false, saved and compiled, moved the resourses.arsc to original apk. I tested, but the CRT animation does not work. I've never had this problem before. I've done it on my original Galaxy, and Galaxy II with no problems. Is there something different to do on the SIII?

Even if you get it to work, we need a nodded libsurfaceflinger file that corrects the glitch that makes the screen quickly flash sometimes after the crt effect collapses.

Nice of you to provide link egor. This will have the occasional flicker crt glitch unless someone has a modified libsurfaceflinger file to correct it. The international gs3 forum has one for theirs. Theirs doesn't work on ours though.

I'm not sure if it will have the glitch I have not installed it yet. I found it either in development or theme but I went back to get the link and I could not find it. I believe it was done around Aug. 5-6th.

You could open it and see what they changed to see what's going on and maybe make some tweaks to get the glitch out.

I just got this phone yesterday to discover that the stock rom (rooted) doesn't have the red line show up under a misspelled word. I had this on my evo 4g running cm9 or 10.
Does anyone know of a rom, or roms, that would have this feature.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Or would anyone know of a way to add this feature to the stock ics rom?
Thanks,

I installed LantinIME.apk from a rom I extracted for the evo. The keyboard worked but still no spell checker. Did you happen to notice if any of the roms you've flashed had this feature, preferably an ICS rom?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I also think this is a keyboard feature. Try installing one of the different keyboards from the play store.
I'm using swift 3, no red lines on touchwiz, however my galaxy player 5.0 running cm9 w/swift 3 has it (did not on touchwiz). I assume this is a rom feature.

I have been trying to ilfigure this out for a while. I haven't been able to get it to work with any of the roms. Someone said CM10 might do it but haven't tried.
Edit:
This is a better start: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832126 the changes could be diffed from the stock rom
OR

Would you happen to know if that would work with the stock rom (rooted) for Verizon?
I just got the phone and even though I've been doing a ton of reading, I'm still a noob when it comes to the s3. And the last thing I want to do is mess anything up. Atlest with the evo 4g I didn't have to worry about different carriers and what not.

The changes made should work. So basically if you compared the changes of this to their stock rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825272 and then applied the same changes to our stock rom, it would work. BUT their files as is will not work.
Basically, it would probably take about 15 minutes for someone to do if they knew what they were doing. I however don't have 15 minutes to spend on this so I can't help right now lol.

so what I would do is download their stock deodex and extract the files that are included in the mod.
Then, decompile the .jars and apks that were modded and the stock version
Run winmerge on them to see exactly what they changed
Then make those exact changes to our stock deodex rom. So you will need to decompile 3 sets of files and recompile 1 set.

I got apktool installed and decompiled framework.jar where it creates a folder called smali. The problem is, I can't view any of the contents from within it. If I go to properties it states contents "nothing" yet shows free space as being 66.7 GB. So I know that there's something in there, I'm just not allowed to view the contents. I read somewhere that you need a text editor?
I did all this on a Linux machine (Mint 13.) I'm gonna try it on a windows PC next just to see what happens.
Edit: I found out that by changing .jar to .apk and then decompiling it allowed me to view the contents. Now I'm sitting at trying to open the TextView.smali. lol
Edit 2: for some reason it's not working for the JellyWiz rom. It's still not showing the contents from within the samli folder.

Ok, so I was looking through the Rezound Beats post in the development section, and I am super confused. I saw the original post and wanted to download it but then I read about in call volume problems so I scrolled through and found a bunch of differnt versions and build.prop edits. I recently got this phone and so do not know much about this stuff and really do not want to brick my phone.
My question lol: Which file from the Rezound Beats post can I flash on my rooted Galaxy S2 LTE with Rogers running Embryo ICS 5.3?
Thanks a lot in advance!

you can make the BP tweak using a file manager with mount as writable option i Use ROM toolboxPro cuz its eazier for me Just copy and paste and then save..
There is already an exising line that ends with the word "endfire" this is where the tweak must be done
Is the build.prop edit necessary? If it I do I just copy paste it at the end of the current build.prop or does it replace something in the current build.prop?
Also do I use the build.prop edit in the OP?

you have to change the lines in the build prop delete the lines
"persist.audio.fluence.mode=endfire"
"persist.audio.vr.enable=false"
and then add the new build prop Line by line making sure nothing is combined.

Can you tell me what i did wrong? I flashed the ROM then GAPPS. but for GAPPS there was two. One for 4.1 and the other for 4.2.1. I chose 4.1.
Idk what you did. Back up all your data with titanium backup, wipe system, data and cache. Flash ROM and 4.1 gapps and try and I stall it again.

What does Boot Animation have to do with DPI?
That's a great question.
Well, obviously that's not a solution.
Reflash the rom, but before you transfer it to your sd card, open it up in 7zip, go to /system/build.prop. Change ro.lcddensity or something like that from 182 to 240. Then reflash. It will work.

Why tell someone to unzip something to make a build prop edit? There are a lot of apps on the market that will do the same thing WITHOUT having to reflash anything. Also if your gonna tell someone to play around with a .prop file make sure you get the name right. It's:
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density
Telling people to open then edit props can easily lead to a bootloop. It's much safer for most users to use System Tuner or another equivalent program. Edit that value. Reboot. Done.
I'm sure that cm10 also has an lcd density option in the settings app that walks you through changing the lcd density to allow custom dpi settings to work with Google Play. I know both AOKP jb and slim jb have the setting
Wow man did exactly what you said and my phone LCD density looks normal like it was before I flashed it, Thank You. Would it matter if I uninstall System Tunner?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
The edit will stick if you uninstall it so it doesn't matter. It's a pretty handy app to have of you plan on playing more with your phone though. It does a lot.

It's a known bug and is being worked on. If you read the ROM OP you'll see a list of all bugs.
