Hi everyone. I've been reading around xda for quite a while and would first like to say thanks to all the great devs and others on here who have really helped to make the infuse an even better phone. Ok so this is my first post so I hope I have the right section. My question: is it possible to pull the sgs2 wallpaper pack from gtg's Infused rom? I've searched everywhere and can't find a wallpaper pack like it. I'm trying to complete my sgs2 look on my infuse with CM7 and wizmod2 theme. Thanks for any help!

Try searching for the wallpapers in the rom zip. Normal locations are the framework apk if its just one. Or a separate folder in the ROM if they are multiple.

Thanks dman . I didn't realize you could pull files and even apps from other rom zips. This is awesome. Looks like I've got some more tinkering to do.
Edit: also, just wanted to thank you dman for all your hard work as a dev

Yes, but only selective apps. You may, but should be careful with the android build version. Some apps are compiled from sources, and those might not be compatible when taken from one ROM to another. But others, like add on apps, can be taken.

You can use tw4.5 which is a modded version for any phone but I've found it to be buggy. there is also a framework mod that can be done to get it all working. I'm actually gonna play with that tonight.

I think the tree structure within framework.jar is a bit different but it may still work, I still haven't tested it, I got distracted. you can use apk tool or smali to decompile it, baksmali or apk tool to compiled it.
I don't mess with apk manager because it tries to do to much for you and isn't really useful because the apps don't usually work when you are done, you wind up having to pull files from the Finnished apk and dropping them in a copy of the original because the signing doesn't work with system apps.

Thanks, What kind of deodex tools you using? I could never figure out how to deodex the apk for maps.
I was finally able to decompile/recompile framework-res and systemui this morning without any errors (or my phone going into a boot loop after I push either to the system), along with all other ICS apk's. It figures I read about this tool right after I figure it out lol

Awesome! But I'm still confused. Since the UCALC4 leak I had not been able to use apktool, apk multi-tool,xdaAutoTool, etc. (bad magic values and such). However, for some reason, as soon as you came back from tour and came out with the first Sky ICS ROM base, I could decompile apks again (smali files and all) with no errors or bad magic value nonsense. Why would that be?

I just got this phone yesterday to discover that the stock rom (rooted) doesn't have the red line show up under a misspelled word. I had this on my evo 4g running cm9 or 10.
Does anyone know of a rom, or roms, that would have this feature.

Or would anyone know of a way to add this feature to the stock ics rom?

I installed LantinIME.apk from a rom I extracted for the evo. The keyboard worked but still no spell checker. Did you happen to notice if any of the roms you've flashed had this feature, preferably an ICS rom?

I also think this is a keyboard feature. Try installing one of the different keyboards from the play store.
I'm using swift 3, no red lines on touchwiz, however my galaxy player 5.0 running cm9 w/swift 3 has it (did not on touchwiz). I assume this is a rom feature.

I just got the phone and even though I've been doing a ton of reading, I'm still a noob when it comes to the s3. And the last thing I want to do is mess anything up. Atlest with the evo 4g I didn't have to worry about different carriers and what not.

The changes made should work. So basically if you compared the changes of this to their stock rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825272 and then applied the same changes to our stock rom, it would work. BUT their files as is will not work.
Basically, it would probably take about 15 minutes for someone to do if they knew what they were doing. I however don't have 15 minutes to spend on this so I can't help right now lol.

so what I would do is download their stock deodex and extract the files that are included in the mod.
Then, decompile the .jars and apks that were modded and the stock version
Run winmerge on them to see exactly what they changed
Then make those exact changes to our stock deodex rom. So you will need to decompile 3 sets of files and recompile 1 set.

I got apktool installed and decompiled framework.jar where it creates a folder called smali. The problem is, I can't view any of the contents from within it. If I go to properties it states contents "nothing" yet shows free space as being 66.7 GB. So I know that there's something in there, I'm just not allowed to view the contents. I read somewhere that you need a text editor?
I did all this on a Linux machine (Mint 13.) I'm gonna try it on a windows PC next just to see what happens.
Edit: I found out that by changing .jar to .apk and then decompiling it allowed me to view the contents. Now I'm sitting at trying to open the TextView.smali. lol
Edit 2: for some reason it's not working for the JellyWiz rom. It's still not showing the contents from within the samli folder.

I'm really confused and hoping someone can help...
I'm on rooted stock ICS... attempted to use the kitchen for some basic changes status bar icons and such.. and flashing the uot file did not work for the battery, wifi icon, or data icon... as I have done before, identify the framework APK, opened it in 7z, and added the images I wanted to use. I used root explorer to push the APK back, mounting the proper folder...
but even after wiping the cache and dalvik, the images refuse to change.
I have since extracted the APK, to verify that the images were there and everything looked right and it does. So where is ics pulling the images from that its using??
Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I've heard anyone talk about the kitchen, and if I remember correctly, the last thing I did hear was that it didn't work/caused problems after we got updated to ICS. So maybe it just won't work at all for us anymore? Can't you just try manually swapping the images in systemUI like you did in framework-res?

I'm on stock 4.0.4, rooted... UOT Kitchen isn't working for me, as my phone uses SystemUI.apk instead of the framework for my statusbar icons. So what I did was I went through the steps at the Kitchen to get my UOT zip, unzipped and pulled the images and xml files. I then added the 200+ battery icons to my drawable-hdpi folder from systemui (using 7zip), and then added the xml files to the drawable folder.
I did this once before, and after clearing the dalvik, battery stats and cache, it worked...but this time my battery icon has disappeared altogether.
I put the images and xml files in the framework as well just to be sure...but no go. I've tried a couple different attempts from UOT but nothing. I even tried rom toolbox, but apparently it doesn't replace the xml files.
I read something about the kernel maybe affecting this...Is that true?
Is there a Kernel that is stable that I can use on stock ICS?
I have searched and searched, but cannot find a good answer to this, so please don't go off about the search button. The kernels all seem to be older, and the last one I tried to flash that was supposed to work left me with a reflash.
Oh, and the stock rom I'm on has been deodexed and zip aligned..
Thanks in advance!
PS.. I have been researching kernels, but they list things that I am unfamiliar with, or don't know if I want...etc...but I want this to work, and I would love for custom boot animations to work through rom toolbox and such. Also I know I could decompile the xml's to fix the battery, but I'm having trouble with Java on my laptop at the moment. If anyone is on stock with 1% battery icons, if you could extract and post the xml's that would be great...!
UOT kitchen supports GB/ICS ROMs, including TouchWiz ones. You just need to upload SystemUI.apk, framework.res and twframework.res - and you'll get a flashable ZIP.
I was under impression it's very clearly stated there.
It is, but I always get the stf....something..error when I include my systemui.APK...
In any case the xml files the kitchen gives me should still work..because the folder hierarchy is the same as the framework-res.APK...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Every APK has the same folder structure. It doesn't mean that the files from one will work on another.
You might have taken one XML too many. Battery icons don't hurt anything, wrong XMLs can.
Also you need to be deodexed for it to have any effect, so I'm assuming you're running deodexed stock root?
Battery icons, I think, are in the twframework_res.apk, not in Systemui.apk
Also, on a tw rom a lot of the default images have a tw_ prefix.

What's wrong with just the percentage battery? Are you strictly looking for a circle? He probably just hasn't updated his base build since the circle mod was a fairly recent addition to CM10. You could always just flash CM10. But in all reality there are a ton of battery mods out there, all of which are 1%. I duno why you can't find any.
