[Q] Rezound Beats on Embryo 5.3? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Ok, so I was looking through the Rezound Beats post in the development section, and I am super confused. I saw the original post and wanted to download it but then I read about in call volume problems so I scrolled through and found a bunch of differnt versions and build.prop edits. I recently got this phone and so do not know much about this stuff and really do not want to brick my phone.
My question lol: Which file from the Rezound Beats post can I flash on my rooted Galaxy S2 LTE with Rogers running Embryo ICS 5.3?
Thanks a lot in advance!

you can make the BP tweak using a file manager with mount as writable option i Use ROM toolboxPro cuz its eazier for me Just copy and paste and then save..
There is already an exising line that ends with the word "endfire" this is where the tweak must be done

Is the build.prop edit necessary? If it I do I just copy paste it at the end of the current build.prop or does it replace something in the current build.prop?
Also do I use the build.prop edit in the OP?

you have to change the lines in the build prop delete the lines
"persist.audio.fluence.mode=endfire"
"persist.audio.vr.enable=false"
and then add the new build prop Line by line making sure nothing is combined.

NEW!!! Chrome Beta (4/17/2012) not working after update

Yet again, Google Chrome Beta is broken after the latest update. I have ICSSGS RC4.2 and just updated Chrome Beta to the latest release. And as before, this update fails the Chrome Beta to launch on my Cappy... so beware...
I am using my old copy as before until someone figures out how to fix it... ... again...
Running 4.0.4 AOKP build 32 and it works with no problems.

Have you tried editing your build.prop, which was the easiest fix for the previous chrome issues?

I can and I will but what should the build.prop entry be to allow Chrome to load properly?
The thing is, I can find the new update with no issues. It installs fine, it just refuses to open. It hangs and then dumps me to the main window.
So, can someone give me suggestions as to what the right build.prop entry should be and I will try it.
Thanks
Look at your build.prop and the line that says ro.build.id= should match the line that reads ro.build.display.id=. If either one says gingerbread edit it to match the other and reboot your device.

Chrome is working for me on my Captivate, running Slim ICS (even though Chrome is fairly buggy and annoying in one or two places).

Ok. So my build.prop shows as such.
ro.build.id=IML74K
ro.build.display.id=SGH-I897-user 4.0.3 IML74K eng.onecosmic.20120204.223407 test-keys
So what has to match? Do I edit the display ID=IML74K??? and delete the rest?
Make a backup before doing so, but yes chrome beta does a check to see if that line is correct. If it's says something other then what a stock ROM would say, it won't run. So change it as you already described and it should work fine. But again make sure to make a backup of your build prop before doing so, just in case.

Ok... It seems that some people are using what I posted as a direction to change the build.prop to make the Chrome work... Actually, what I put on my earlier post is my exact build.prop what is NOT allowing the Chrome to work... so some one needs to provide an exact line entry. Please do not use my post as this is how my stock (ICSSGS ICS RC4.2) build.prop looks like...
Sorry for the confusion.
I downloaded chrome beta, but I cannot even install it. Something about a para phase error. Idk

I'm not sure if your situation is the same, but upgrading an existing chrome install didn't work for me. It crashed whenever I tried to open it. I uninstalled the one I had then installed the latest one from the play store. Its been working fine since. Running Slim 3.4 btw.

You guys should tell me why I should bother getting Chrome? Isn't stock browser Chrome based with HW accel by Samsung?
I've just tested this problem myself, and if you have LCD density set to 120 that's the cause of the issue. Set it back to 160 in build.prop or using dalingrin's CWM zip, and it works....
Fixed in latest update to Chrome... now works at lcd density of 120.

Stock kernel doesn't allow custom boot animations - you'll need to flash a kernel that supports it. Check the dev section for them.
Will that trip my flash counter?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Not if you use recovery to flash as opposed to Odin. Plus there is a thread somewhere in dev I think with info that allow you to reset the counter.

This thread has links to mohan's kernels
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28350575
It's got a modified ramdisk which gives you the ability to use custom boot animations and init.d support.
Seanscreamz' latest ROM thread also has links to similar kernels, but they may have been adjusted further to work more specifically with his ROM; mohan's kernels are pretty much stock.

Rom with spell checker?

I just got this phone yesterday to discover that the stock rom (rooted) doesn't have the red line show up under a misspelled word. I had this on my evo 4g running cm9 or 10.
Does anyone know of a rom, or roms, that would have this feature.

I installed LantinIME.apk from a rom I extracted for the evo. The keyboard worked but still no spell checker. Did you happen to notice if any of the roms you've flashed had this feature, preferably an ICS rom?

I'm using swift 3, no red lines on touchwiz, however my galaxy player 5.0 running cm9 w/swift 3 has it (did not on touchwiz). I assume this is a rom feature.

The changes made should work. So basically if you compared the changes of this to their stock rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825272 and then applied the same changes to our stock rom, it would work. BUT their files as is will not work.
Basically, it would probably take about 15 minutes for someone to do if they knew what they were doing. I however don't have 15 minutes to spend on this so I can't help right now lol.

so what I would do is download their stock deodex and extract the files that are included in the mod.
Then, decompile the .jars and apks that were modded and the stock version
Run winmerge on them to see exactly what they changed
Then make those exact changes to our stock deodex rom. So you will need to decompile 3 sets of files and recompile 1 set.

I got apktool installed and decompiled framework.jar where it creates a folder called smali. The problem is, I can't view any of the contents from within it. If I go to properties it states contents "nothing" yet shows free space as being 66.7 GB. So I know that there's something in there, I'm just not allowed to view the contents. I read somewhere that you need a text editor?
I did all this on a Linux machine (Mint 13.) I'm gonna try it on a windows PC next just to see what happens.
Edit: I found out that by changing .jar to .apk and then decompiling it allowed me to view the contents. Now I'm sitting at trying to open the TextView.smali. lol
Edit 2: for some reason it's not working for the JellyWiz rom. It's still not showing the contents from within the samli folder.

[Q] Herc JB Rom on I727 autorotate issue

Same issue as ICS. Running the Herc t989 rom on the i727. I've tried replacing files and I still cant get it to work (replaced the matching file names from the ICS fix).
The autorotate fix here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592170&highlight=rotation+fix fixed me on ICS. Reading his post again, it sounds like a fix that is more than just a driver change. Anyone have a solution? I tried the search and a flood of nothing for Jellybean.
Also copy over sensor libs and hardware.so and hardware_legacy.so. It works fine that way. I just pull them from our CM10.1.
You rock, I'll try that tonight. I tried pulling from the stock i727 image and it didnt work. Totally didnt think about pulling the drivers from CM10
Tried copying sensorservice libakm and libsensorservice. (used the latest snapshot). Booted to the samsung screen and hangs.
Replaced the files back and it boots.
I re-read your post and forgot to copy libhardware.so. I'll try that again including the libhardware.so and update later.
Which sensor libs should I pull? I pulled the hardware legacy and hardware.so and the sensor.default.so from /hw still sticks at loading screen.
lib/hw/sensors.default.so and sensor.goldfish.so
EDIT: Are you packaging one of our kernels with it? If not that's your issue.
That is probably it.
This is out of curiosity, with 4.0.4 I did not have to flash the matching kernel. (I was running t989 with the t989 kernel with the mod installed). I would think the kernel is just calling the modules... is that not a correct assumption?

A nand. lol The worse you can do is bootloop. It's pretty easy to do playing with the build.prop though.
So did you get the rotation working using a t989 rom and t989 kernel on JB?

Work has kept me from finishing up. So far I replaced all the files from the original mod and the hardware and legacy modules and autorotate still doesnt work.
In the old day the final piece always was flash another kernel, up until I did the mod I originally posted. It didnt require a kernel flash. I'm really trying to figure out the secret to why there is the disconnect between flashing vs not flashing the kernel.
BTW: It makes sense to flash the kernel as well, so no dispute there. I'll download the stock JB Kernel for the 727 and try it to see. I'm just worried about my wificalling. It has a few modules that are loaded in the 989 kernel if I recall correctly.
