Since upgrading to JB, I have discovered that when I select 3000 files in a directory in any file manager, the share icon is greyed out. It used to work in ICS, so is there a reduced number of files that JB can handle?

I am having hard time to install a ROM after I modded it a bit.
The ROM itself had been installed already and works perfectly.
I was trying to change a few things like icons, bootanimation, default launcher and other stuff but the phone keep giving me an error and fail to install the file.
my phone is HTC HD2 t-mobile version, the ROM is android 2.3.4 with CM7, I am installing ROMs using MAGLDR 1.13 + clk 3.1.0.1.
I modified the zip file using 2 methods - both led to the error
1. unpack the zip file, replace the files, repack the folders back together into zip
2. swapping the files without extracting the folders out of the zip file
in both cases I used winrar (my computer runs 64bit win7).
am I missing something?
any help will be much appreciated
This is strange... I basically use the same method to mod minor stuff (like icons)... And it works for me without problems.
Are you sure your repackaged file has the same structure? Maybe unpack both original package and your modified one and compare folders and files using WinDiff or something?
I ran a check with "Beyond Compare 3" and it appeared to be the same except the files I've replaced.
What archiving software are you using?
There is no need to sign the zip or anything like it, right?
I'm using Total Commander which has zip functionality built-in.
No, I don't need to sign anything either (although I don't know, maybe it requires setting development options in android's settings).
Hi guys,
well first post here and I've been told I can only really post here.
Some background info, I've installed the Cyanogen 9 custom ROM onto my Galaxy S. Everything works fine and use Titanium Backup for restoration. Everything is perfect, except for call logs.
My ROM before this was based the the official 2.2 Samsung firmware.
Yes, of course, after I've changed ROMs I read that TB has a Migrate to diff ROM feature which needs the paid version for, which I don't have. I also read that you can use the XML option (which is also the paid one) but I didn't use that with my initial backup.
TB backs up to 4 different files; .properties, .tar.gz, apk.gz & odex.gz. I'm not 100% on what they all are but as far as I'm aware, .gz is a compression system, like .rar/.zip. I think apk is the App file and the odex is the Data file. I believe call logs are in com.android.providers.telephony.
Actual question: Is there some way I can convert any of these files into XML so I can restore it, possibly with the Call Logs app?
Side questions: Does anyone know fully what the 4 different files are that TB creates? Can I install my old phone.apk/contacts.apk and remove the current one?
Thanks heaps for your help! :good:
EDIT: OK, it seems it's the com.android.providers.contacts file, not telephony. I extracted the .tar.gz file and found phone numbers in there I recognise.
Hi.
I'm trying to pull GenieWidget.apk and .odex from a XT925 firmware I dowloaded. I presume its in the system_signed file as its the only thing big enough to be /system.
I searched quite a lot and apparently its not the same as on previous models; I can't just mount it using -o loop because it asks for a filesystem type.
I have a GenieWidget.apk from an AOSP build of my previous phone that works quite well but I prefered the one on the RAZR HD ICS and am hoping it will still work in JB. It was removed in general from ICS to JB updates so its quite possible that I just need to put the files back.
If someone can upload those files from ICS that would be helpful. I would, however, like to know how to mount or extract this file though and I'd appreciate any info on that as well. I have OS X, Linux, and Windows to work with.
Any help?
During the install of CROMi, I chose whatever option it was to NOT disable the notifications for the dock and external storage. Now I wish I had! What's the best way to get rid of those notifications now? Is there an option setting somewhere I'm not finding?
They are small code edits inside the apk file so the only way is reflash the ROM with no wipes. You won't lose anything
I was also in the same situation and got rid of the notifications by copying the 4 files located inside "tweak/nosd" folder inside the ROM zip to system/app. I added a number of tweaks after installing Cromi and didn't want to risk messing up the tweaks. Hopefully manually copying these files won't cause any problems.
I have two phones right now next to eachother.
a GS3 with 4.0.4 rooted and a 4.1.2 rooted
I hate the new 3X4 T9 keyboard on 4.1.2 and want to use the old 4.0.4 keyboard. They changed ability to use custom words in T9 on 4.1.2 (only custom words work in swype now)
I have tried everything to move the keyboard files over and get my 4.1.2 device running the 4.0.4 keyboard to work
Please help me out
I tried moving the samsungIME.apk and samsungIME.odex from system/apps and the touchwiz.xml from ect/permissions and libxt9core.so and libdhwr.so from system/lib files and the entire T9DB folder from system/ over to their respective places from the old phone to the new via pushing them using root browser and an SD card with correct permissions.
The samsung keyboard won't even appear on the list for the new phone with these old files after restarting.
What am I doing wrong?
Is this even possible?

If someone can make this happen I'll happily paypal you some cash or prepay for a pizza sent to you. The T9 trace on my phone was worth that much to me.

My guess is ICS files are not compatible with JB.
