Doesn't seem like there is any real advantage of rooting my Note 10.1...
I got the og Evo 4G when it first released (still have it now), and rooted asap! I did this so that I could get rid of the massive amount of bloatware and use wifi tether. There was also a LOT of devs, roms and tweaked software for a long time.
I don't really see the point in rooting my Wifi only Note 10.1. Is there something I am missing?

If you are perfectly satisfied with your Note as is leave it. But my guess is you will eventually come across something you want to do that requires root and you'll root it.
That and chicks dig root.

Titanium Backup for one. SDCard speed enhancers. Being able to overclock kernels once available. Using Dropsync. Stuff like that.

TB - only needed if you are flashing different ROMs all the time..
SDCard speed enhancers - only needed for AP2SD (which I never understood why people wanted it other than running out of space)
Overclock - this sounds good (even though this tablet is already fast), but doesn't sound like this is available yet..
Dropsync - I have dropsync already set up (one folder for the free version)
i'm rooted just in case JB comes out for 8010 before 8013 (probable) then I will be set and ready to flash JB for 8010 on my 8013.

I looked around here and didn't see any threads like this one so I made a new one.
My friend just got a Samsung T528G smart phone. It is a straight talk phone. I don't think it can be done but does anyone know if you can use the phone as a modem for a PC to have an internet connection? Or even turn the WIFI feature into a hotspot?

I've done some digging on this very same phone because I'm trying to figure out how to side load "java" apps on the insanely greedy TouchWiz OS. You can tether the phone, but its "locked" out because StraightTalk does not want you doing this. I have not actually read up on it yet, as I'm still trying unlock, and sideload mode; but apparently its against the end user agreement to tether. Thank goodness my wife hates her T528G and we'll be getting her an Android phone as soon as possible. I came to XDA to see if there was any cool tricks I could do with the T528G myself, in all fairness to the phone, it does what its supposed to do, and is intended to be an entry level "smart phone".

My brother and I are working on putting Android on an HTC Kieser to get my wife of the 528... I dislike the Windows mobile, and I don't like working with it, that is why we're trying to put Android on it. I know it can be done, has been done.

If you did manage to get Android on it, it would likely be so slow, you wouldn't want to use it anyway.
the smartphone is useless.
unless the owner of the phone is smart enough to use the smartphone

Okay, so a few months ago, I rooted my Honeycomb 3.2.1 tablet and installed the kernel from joe.stone.
I'm pretty sure they're compatible and all. The tablet model is myPadP4 (Which is only available in Taiwan I believe).
And later on, the tablet is acting weird.
Sometimes it freezes, randomly reboot/shutdown, and recently, I can't even turn the tablet off, it just shuts down, and reboot. (Note that the battery is irremovable.)
I tried the "Quick Boot" app to shutdown, doesn't work.
I tried shutting down via "reboot -p", doesn't work.
Not sure if it's caused by the kernel OR some app that I installed (That's the most unlikely case I think.)
And yes, I did try to do a factory reset, doesn't help.
Any idea? Or I simply have to send it back to the manufacturer?

I dunno if this is needed but just in case.
I'm pretty sure its the custom kernel that's causing you grief, try going back to the stock kernel
remember custom kernels are not always perfect, they may have bugs.

well if the dev is still supporting the kernel, you can wait for the dev to fix all the bugs.
if not, there not much anyone can do.
guess that is what you get for buying a cheap unknown tablet
click thanks if helped

Oh and it's actually just a ZTE tablet with name changed, just re-published by one of our mobile services.
Not sure if this has been brought up before but I was watching this vid from Mobilearena HU on youtube. In the snapshot of the video you can clearly see folders similar to 4.0+ on the homescreen of the GS4. It always really bugged me that despite all the features that samsung put in touchwiz they still had folders like gingerbread. I use a Galaxy nexus now and I don't think I could live without the drag and drop folders. So glad that seems to be fixed now.
Just wanted to share in case this was an issue for anyone else. I am beginning to like the GS4 more and more...
Folders have looked like that on TouchWiz for a while (Maybe since Jelly Bean) but it hasn't been drag and drop like AOSP.
I actually hadn't noticed, but I did notice they looked pretty good!
I actually really like the touchwiz launcher tbh

Great news!!!! I can confirm that it works with h955 v15a euro.
Works with H950. Thank you so much!
Works like a charm on H955 :good:
H955 v15a, it works. Thank you
It's scary to use, but it works fine
I'm familiar with FlashFire on Samsung devices and it's awesome. I wonder if its other functions like backup and restore work on our devices. I'm too afraid to try it lol.
How about kernel updates? Ha
Works
Confirmed. This works.
Confirmed modules working:
Gravity Box (At least all of the features that worked with previous software)
Snapprefs
Youtube AdAway
Any other good ones I should try? I'm probably going to attempt to use the backup features on FlashFire, so hopefully I can fiddle with things.
it works these are the modules I tested and all work just one litle thing after enabling all these modules I discovered that my phone started lagging again and getting hot

Tried using the backup function yet? From my somewhat limited knowledge of android, I'd say that would be the least risky feature to try.
I may do so sometime soon, as I would like to have a backup.

It took a while, but yes it did make a backup. I have not tried to restore it though.
That's the scary part...
n/m looks like I need to be on 5.1.x.
I see a huge improvement using performance profile xposed .
Changing governor to performance and gpu to 600 mhz(all cores enabled)
It is a pitty we dont have the ability to use custom kernels to our phones.
The difference is not only in benchmarks but in general . the only issue is bigger battery drain.
Any suggestions on other working Statusbar mods? I can't stand all the notifications that I don't care about, would love to get rid of Carrier label, NFC on status, headphones plugged in status, VPN status, vibrate status...pretty much all the stuff I already know is either on or off. G3 Tweaksbox used to allow all this but sadly doesn't work on the Flex 2.
Is there any way whatsoever to make it ask me what default app I want to choose each time. As in, the old Just Once/Alway complete action dialog?
I've tried Complete Action Plus. Doesn't seem to have any effect.

I just came across something last night that's a decent workaround for most things.
Better Open With (sorry, no link; new member) prompts you with it's own UI, which is still pretty intuitive. It works by having you set the default application for each intent it supports (which isn't a lot, but it's most) to itself. Then, when you open something, it will bring up it's own dialog box that's pretty similar to the old style.
It doesn't have as much customization as Complete Action Plus did, but it gets you 80% there.

I thought it was lollipop forced as well, but both my Note 4 and my Note 10.1 2014 are running 5.1.1 and give me the choice of running specific apps just once or always, could it be the Note 5?
