Well i just got this bad boy yesterday. Hardly able to put it down when I'm at home already.
Haven't gotten round to root yet. This weekend be the big event...lol.
So im hoping you guys can give me a few ideas as to the best roms and features available.
What rom do you guys use? Any favorites? And why? Too many questions I know.
Thanks in advance.

The answer you seek is right on the front page of XDA...
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-asus-transformer-xda-tv/
^^^^hmmmm. Well i was more curious as to what most folks were using as their daily driver rather than seeking advice as to how to root the device, but thanks anyway.
Still. If anyone can recommend any good mods or roms or themes etc it would be appreciated.

Check your serial number, if it's >B70 then it's not rootable. Yes they are working on it but it's been almost 2 months and nothing. Appears to be locked down in hardware and thus not by-passible via the usual tricks of the past. Most likely it's because of DRM if I had to guess.
If your serial is B70xxxxx check it anyway, some of the B70's may be rootable if they still have the older SBKv1 ROM (or whatever it is).
Mine's going back (B80 serial) - it's a dead duck.
I suggest you return it and get something else so you wont clog the forum with the same stupid questions that have been asked hundreds of times.

Right...i just checked the serial number and it looks like I'm safe. Phew!
It says B50. So i can get on with my tinkering afterall. Thank God for that.

Yes.. yes it does need it's own section!
I just picked mine up yesterday, rooted it manually and started futzing around, does anyone know where the tethering provisioning check is handled? My first target for modification is that, and then Kies Air, it seems pretty modular, I wouldn't mind adding a few modules of my own

+1. Leaving the skyrocket dev section in here is a terrible idea.
x100. This is silly.
This is only going to cause more mess, and more confusion. There are other phones that share almost identical hardware that have their own section, all we share is the beginning of our phone names. Why not put EVERY single S2 into 1 section while you are at it?
How many bricked skyrockets does it take to get their own section?
We may never know.

Hmm This is clearly the I777 Forum branch, no reason to put the Skyrocket in here, it's not a I777
If it's gonna be lumped, it should be lumped with the T989 since it's far closer to that device hardware-wise.

Well hello there, new user who rushed into not only using the xda forums, but also downloading the XDA app and posting without reading the rules!
I believe you are going to be extremely happy with what I have to offer. You see, unlike the above post who just told you to read the rules -although in an indirect way, I'm going to be more helpful and give you the link so you don't have to bother searching!
There it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=530
Now you have to be extremely careful with the following process: anything you do wrong may result in permanent and irreversible damage.
First of all, make sure your mouse is plugged. If not, plug it in. You might need to install drivers. Next, hover your mouse cursor (that little pointer like object on your screen) over the link I just posted above (should be in orange text). As soon as the pointer turns into a hand of some sort, RELEASE YOUR MOUSE STRAIGHT AWAY. This is crucial. Now all you have to do is to click (use the left click button!), and read the rules!
Was that so hard? I most certainly hope not
I also think I should remind you -in a very friendly way- that you have already read and agreed upon these rules. Or should have. Now imagine the cure for all diseases was written in there. You wouldn't want to miss that, huh? I don't think so. So next time, please take a minute of your -certainly precious- time reading the ****ing rules before clicking on that shiny "New Thread" button.
Thanks.

Just wanted to say it was a pleasure owning a Skyrocket and although I may not have participated much directly, I read the forums every single day. Sadly on Friday, my Skyrocket fell out of my pocket and in the 20-30 seconds it took me to notice, someone had picked it up and swiped it. Since the Skyrocket and the S3 are priced the same with my provider, I decided to upgrade (totally debatable!).
So, I'll still be around XDA and will probably still read the Skyrocket forums at times, but I wanted to say thank you to all the developers on this side and please keep up the good work! The Skyrocket is one of the best Galaxy's I've owned and I'm sure it'll be around for a lot longer than most with this community!
Thanks again to everyone!

I agree. I did kind of screw myself over though. I was in such a panic I ran home and changed my passwords since the phone is logged into everything, and THEN I realized I could have used several tools to track the phone by installing through Google Play. So sadly I locked myself out in a panic and didn't get a chance to track it. Oh well, you live and you learn! Karma will have her way with whoever took it

I installed Where's My Droid on my phone so I could track it with just a text message. I actually did it after getting a phone call from a mechanic who had dropped his phone accidentally in my wife's car (unnoticed by him or me at the time) and a similar app (which I later found out was Plan B) tracked it to my address and he called me.
I was only too happy to return the phone to him the following day. I was actually impressed with the fact that the app tracked the phone to my garage.
Sorry you lost your phone, though. That's a bummer.

I had to make the same decision. The prime was my first choice, but imho the note 10.1 is better for school, especially since all our books are in PDF format and needed good annotation features.

Let me explain to you how xda works. There is a "read first, then ask" policy. If you want to be endlessly flamed here, keep asking questions that have already been answered 100 times.
If you REALLY want to be flamed, then insinuate that your time is more valuable than ours and that we should invest in answering your question while you obviously have not.
Read first then ask.

Since you are trying to find a tablet to use at school I'd recommend to buy note 10.1. I'm also a student and I have the same motive than you. I don't own note yet since my operator here in finland doesn't have notes for sale yet. I've been reading these kind threads as mitchellvii told you to do as well. Yet I understand that not everyone has time to read forums expecially if one wants information fast buy note because of its multitasking advantages and the s-pen. Splitscreen is in my opinion the most useful thing to have in a tablet used for studying. There is a lot bigger resolutions on other tablets screens but 1280x800 is enough and even it isn't I'd still buy note because of it's ability to multitask hope this helps!

I would recommend the Galaxy Note 10.1. It IMO is really the most productively designed tablet around due to the multiscreen and the popup windows allowing you to do more things at one time.
As to those that feel they don't have time or that their time is so important that they can't offer a helpful reply, I ask you to please do not waste your time posting a responce to my questions, if you don't desire or have timetime to be helpful. I mean no one is forcing anyone to post answers to any questions.

Sorry but we feel that if a question has already been asked and answered 1000 times a new member should respect the Forum and do some research before asking the same question again. The experienced members who help a lot of people find this very annoying. It is clear from the OP's arrogant response that he made no attempt whatsoever to research prior to asking his question. Why should he do any work when we can do it for him? It's just basic forum etiquette.
Like I said, clueless is cool, lazy is not.
I used my Prime+keyboard dock to take notes all last year for my classes, but it wasn't the most reliable thing ever. I had quite a few random reboots in the middle of class and lost a good deal of notes many times.
The Infinity, as far as I know, has more or less the same issues.

I've had the prime and the note, note wins hands down. The stylus is much more useful than the keyboard. The plastic body is actually better for Wi-Fi signal strength. If you need hdmi or usb out you can always buy the adaptor.

I'm bored and my time is free so I'll tell how I came to the Note. I owned every Asus tab with keyboard. My daughter was going back to college so I was gonna let her have my infinity and keyboard. One week before she left the Note launched so we went down to Bestbuy and grabbed the first one and brought it home to try. I never really trusted the Asus because of ANRs and crashes so I didn't feel comfortable letting her take it because I know she would be *****ing about it when something went wrong and believe me with Asus its always something. She used the Note for a couple hours and said it was great so I grabbed it and put it through the paces side by side with my infinity. After about a hour I was boxing up the infinity and on my way to Bestbuy to exchange for a Note of my own. My daughter has told me many times "the Notes the best thing for school hands down" when I ask her how it compares to her iPad2 (charger caught fire burn wall in her apt and got money back) she said they're too different animals. We are both trouble free and happy and the world is a better place..... because she's not complaining
