[Q] Service issues please help - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello friends,
I have constantly been flashing back and forth through roms because i want to be up to date. I really enjoy Aeon Rom because of the service it gives me. It seems like I have the best service with this rom. I just flashed paranoid jb rom and i dont have good service. I was wondering if there is anyway to change something so I can be receiving better service like i do from Aeon. Thanks guys.

What do you mean with service?? Network signal?? Wifi Signal??

Hey I mean my network connection. The wifi on infuse isnt so great so yea... But my network is weird because out of all the roms the Aeon rom gives me the best network connection and i would like it to be that way with all the roms. Is there a fix to it?

Sure try changing your modem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869159
Check the modem used on AEON and flash it on your JB.

it reads no sim card
I'm having the same problem, but after I flashed Aeon it worked for a while. It gave me Red recovery, which I thought that I read somewhere on here that It was back for my particular infuse. I decided it had too many bugs and restarts, so I was going back to CyanagenMod. I can't remember if my phone quit reading my sim card before trying to flash cyan or before wiping aeon. I'm still having issues. I went back to stock and still...nada. Im lost on what to do.

The ROMs dont do that (broke your SIM card), try another SIM or try your SIM on another phone. This will help to know what happens.

I've noticed that once I've flashed either ICS or jb, my service is 90% of the time on 3g. When I was still on GB, I always had Hspeeds.

okay...its about time i find out.

why is it that every time i flash a rom, data speeds become complete crap? the apn fix didoes work for me. i don't see a reason why this should happen.
Normally each ROM will have a preferred radio. Make sure you are using the correct radio.

Its best to stick with factory. There has never been scientific proof that any other radio is better than factory.

OK I'm lost what rom do you have?
You also can't expect things to work honky dory if you're flashing a lot lol. Im on stock radio with cm7 and have also used miui and at one point android revolution. I've never had data speed issues.
What issues are you having exactly?

If you're saying the APN fix DOES work for you, the answer to your question is because almost all ROMs have the incorrect APN config for some markets.
I tried the APN "update" on the stock radio using CM7 but my upload speeds are still only around 300k. I'm wondering if the network is still behind here in Kansas City.

Indeed that may be the case. CM7 (as do most custom ROMs) already has the proper build.prop settings to allow 1.3 MB/s upload speeds, and you've already tried my APN changes. There are some threads claiming a few people have lost HSUPA from flashing radios, but I don't know if this situation applies to you.
If you want to confirm without a doubt whether or not your market is HSUPA enabled, try this if you're feeling adventurous. First, backup your current CM7 ROM in ROM Manager, then flash the updated rooted stock RUU that came out a few days ago at THIS thread. This method flashes the updated stock image through the bootloader (using the P98IMG.ZIP method), and it flashes a new radio to your phone. If your speeds stay the same then it's safe to say your market isn't HSUPA enabled yet. However, if your upload speeds improve vastly after doing this method, then just keep that new radio that the new RUU flashed to your phone, and restore your CM7 backup. After restoring CM7, flash the HTC-RIL file that matches the new radio (HTC-RIL 2.2.0079HM). You can find this RIL in this thread. Works like a charm, I've been running it for a couple of days now on CM7.0.2 stable. Battery life is very good too.
Awesome! Thanks Henry. I'll try it when I get back into town. One of my coworkers has the Inspire (100% stock). I'm going to ask her how her U/L speeds look after the update as well.
Give it 3-5 days, i used to think that too. Your new rom or radio has to get adjusted to each other. Its like a fine wine in most cases. if you flash a new rom it has to get adjusted to the radio vise versa. Its kinda like a new baby thier brains like a sponge soaks up info quickly. just give it time my freind spend a few days with each rom and radio combo you test and on the 3rd to 5th day, data, and kernal test your setup.

No signal while using CM7

Having a major problem. I just installed CM7 but did not get a working signal, just got "searching for service". Before installing I was using a Sense ROM and it was working 100%- but I do remember switching off LTE when I was on the ROM and I never changed it back to on.
So anyway, I also flashed a radio via hboot and same thing.
Is there a certain radio I should be flashing?
When I go to settings I just get Unknown for the baseband version. Is this normal..? Should I have done something that maybe I missed?
let me know, right now I'm without a signal.. so no texts or phone calls.. pretty bad
Which version of CM7 are you on? If you are on RC1.3 then you need an MR2 radio. I'd suggest the radio from the OTA located HERE.
Yes the latest RC1.3
Okay thanks I will try this out, things are REALLY jumbled here.. I've checked out like 4 different radio threads.
Will let you know if it works

Yeah now that you are on this radio you can flash the vast majority of ROMs and ALL GB ROMs for the TBolt without changing the radio.
Also pay no attention to the idiot cussing you out for asking a question in the CM7 thread.
Thanks man, works great.
No problem! Glad you got it up and running!!
Is there any advantage to putting the MR2 radio above on a stock rooted TB?

I would use it solely because that's the radio that VzW tested and I would think it works best hence why they released it.

[Q] Can I manually download the INFUSE V2 ROM (since server is down)

I see that the gtx465x server is down (won't let me download the ROM from the Rom Manager).
Is there a way to manually download?
I was thinking of just downloading it and putting it on my SD-Card and than doing the flashing from there (is this even possible)?
Thank's so much

All Infused v2 releases were pulled temporarily by gtg, with the exception of a 2.0.3 test release halfway through the thread which is still available I think. (However it's at this point an unsupported "use at your own risk" release. If you haven't found it on your own it's probably not for you...)
It has always been possible to flash without ROM manager, in fact in my opinion flashing through ROM Manager seemed more likely to fail.
THANK YOU
"All Infused v2 releases were pulled temporarily by gtg"
Why?
Also, since I just got my infuse today, and I have the time, should I try a different ROM (if there are any) that is recommended? I will try anyone that is better than the stock one.
That being said, I am the kind of person who prefers speed (!) above anything else (looks and effects and whatnot)
Thanks again

Well then the Gingerbread ROMs are not for you. The Rogers RIL seems to have data speed issues on the AT&T network. I'm happy with it as I live in the boonies and don't see 4G speeds anyway and probably won't until I'm due for a phone upgrade - I bought the phone for the nice screen.
This issue and poor user attitude are why gtg pulled the ROMs for a while. They are back, but the mods are paying MUCH closer attention to the thread this time.

Hey how do you do a complete wipe of the kernal and rom? I would like to reinstall the kernal and 2.1 rom.

Connection problems with SUPERLITE CM10 JB4.1.2 RoM

I recently flashed to Vincom's SUPERLITE CM10 JB4.1.2 RoM | V8.0.
Ive gotten things up and running pretty well, but there is one major issue I seem to be having. My phone is not consistently able to connect to data on AT&T. I am frequently losing my data connections in locations where I have always had them in the past.
I searched around on his developer thread but didnt see an answer. I saw a reference to APNs for AT&T, but his note says these should now be included in the ROM I flashed, so Im not sure if I am missing something.
Anyone know if this is a common problem or how I can troubleshoot it and get up and running again?
Thanks.
Haven't heard of this being a problem. What modem (baseband) are you on? You can find it in settins, about phone.
Also, in settings wireless, more, mobile networks, Check that the access point name is on att LTE

Its gotten worse. Ive spent the last 5 hours with almost zero data access.
I see baseband version i727UCLI3.
Access Point name was was set to ATT wap, cingular. I switched it to ATT LTE (pta)...should this fix it? Any idea why this would have happened? Will I need to keep checking this or was it just something from the ROM flash?

I am using TWRP for recovery if that is what you mean?
I will search around for how to locate and flash a radio...does it matter which I use or any ICS radio should be OK?

reflashing radio is the simplest things todo on our phones, no harm will come of it and sometimes beneficial as cwm/twrp wiping and flashing roms dont touch that parition

PrePaid Network's APN Setting's

Hi Guy's , was just sharing a bit of testing I have been doing for a while now using prepaid network's on the At&t Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH_i727. I have tried H20 , net10 , Red Pocket and a few more running 4.2.1 jellybean , 4.0.4 ICS , and 2.3.6 Gingerbread. All of the APN setting's was slow and unresponsive on 4.2.1 jellybean and 4.0.4 ICS , time's ranging from one minute to five minutes and sometime's never sent at all. But 2.3.6 was a totally different ballgame , on every prepaid network I sent mms messaging it was blazing fast with no hang up's or glitches. So if anyone has any question's or need's any help with apn setting's just hit me up or leave comment's down below. i have almost every prepaid apn down and still have a few to check out and see how they function on updated rom's. Thank's for your time guy's and if there is anyway I can help you guy's hit me up.

You really should update your firmware and radio. Updating the firmware will take care of the radio. See vincom's sticky in the development forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29080999

Well, the thing is, I have no way of updating to the jb firmware that's available to me, my windows 7 absolutely will not recognize my phone. Ice tried going through kies, through Odin, I've tried different drivers, otb cables, even took phone apart and cleaned the charge port....I've been on the phone countless of times with Samsung support, and was in best buy talking to there techs but to no avail. Idk if its related but not only is it not discoverable, mobile data still not working, and every time I go to try putting it in download mode, it goes straight into recovery. I Ruth it of, take the battery out, hold down both vol+ and vol-, put battery back in, plug in the usb cord from the computer, still going into recovery and not detected. Sooo I have tried rooting it so I can flash newer roms, but no luck with a wireless rooting method, and no custom recovery equalls no custom rom, so at a loss. Tried framaroot, z4root, gingerbreak, universa androot....still no luck, now, if I can figure out how to install a custom recovery, then I could flash it right after, tried update.zips throbehalf wugh stock recovery, get failed to sign or verify...just canny figure it out and i'm not ready you throw in the towel just yet, another night ahead of scratching my brain...so any input and ANYBODYs behalf would be greatly appreciated and anticipated, thanks gentlemen.
Sounds like you have a hardware issue which no amount of head scratching is going to cure
