Updated OP with my current settings.

Here is my setting... It keeps all astonished by the sound my SGR produces... ITS LIKE THE ONLY WINNER ...
But.. This is only to show off... Its not the best quality setting...
To get best quality.. Set highest gain and dynamic range.... And bass boost to medium..

This is your own made OP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850580 for headphone. shall we discuss it there..?

Hmm.. We can discuss there.. But anyways stock earphones (i use) work quite well and produce balanced sound.. After activating voodoo sounds...and some equalizer tweaks...
But..friends one kernel... Made by UnknownzD had the best experience of voodoo in it.. Which I dont get in any new kernels...

Believe me, the i9103 stock headphones are not really good. The Galaxy S ones are way better.
I have tested lots of different models. Stock headphones are usually crap. Unless you go above 25$ aftermarket you won't get any advantage with voodoo driver, as it is impossible to notice being narrowed to a small freq range. That's why I was surprised at that EQ curve.

@bhargav143: Buddy, please let it understand that if we already have thread regarding Earphones, then we may discuss this one there. But, if you wanna discuss here then no pro. but @josjator: I have tried DSPmanager with Sony walkman. its like Kaaaboooommmmm with Extreme bass booster. :victory:

I think, just like me,
DSP SETTING:
Compression is disabled
Bass Boost: Enabled
Bass Boost: Effect strength is Extreme
Equalizer: Enabled
with Preset: Bass booster.
Also, if you want to search good earphone, then can search over flipkart. its best way to found.

The only decent ear pieces you can get on that price range is still creative ep-630 i guess. But If you can go I little higher and find a good deal go for Tekfusion Twinwoofer. I got a set for 1200INR but its got much costlier now. For me it beats Sennheiser cx-180 maybe even cx-300 atleast on the highs and the mids. The lows however could be a bit better. Trust me it gives a real punching bass.
But remember you need to burn those for atleast 100 hours before you start judging it. The burn in guide comes along it.
Sorry Vikesh could not resist myself

[musicplayer] neutron player

Hi guys, any audiophiles here like me?
This music player has terrible interface. Basic functions doesn't work too well. BUT!!!
OMG the sound quality of this player is mind blowing. I really mean it. SGS and voodoo is known for it's SQ. However, despite it sounds clear, the sounds is not precise and out of place by an inch. Was a voodoo + equalizer app + poweramp fan and still am cuz of interface but i can forsee an android music player to better poweramp! Assuming this music player gets developed nicely. Give it a try guys and if you like the SQ, show dev some support just by rating etc.

I checked this out last week, but just couldn't stand the UI and layout of it... If it had more polish and a neater/more attractive UI I would use it.

does indeed sound good but I feel Power Amp sounds just as good as it. both these sound better than Winamp and Ttpod but jt is just so ugly and unresponsivd too. button presses most times dont work, setting up a playlist on first start sucks as it just does not acction button presses and if you minimise program then go back to it it changes song automatically. good sound quality though, sorry, only positive i can think of. using Xperia MiUi 2.2.1

I suppose sound is very subjective and also depends on the headphones you use as well the phone you use. On SGS, neutron definitely widens soundstage with better sound separation whilst keeping the sound crisp and clear. Sure poweramp is clear but the sound is everywhere. Also with that filtering of highest frequency on neutron, the sound feels very calm to listen to as well as having the "fun" sound from general boost the app gives to SQ.
However as you said and as i said on OP sq is the only pro atm but any audiophiles would (or should ) use it just for that reason like i do

will give this another try i guess, was happy with the sound, using earphones that came with my old Sony. Ericsson w980, very strong sound from them. sound is great from the player but to purchase would be nice to know there is refinement of the ui planned. cheers
Another "good sound, bad UI" app is Rockbox. It has not been announced as "useable" yet, but many reports that it works fine. And I think it has more sound tweaking features than Neutron. It would be interesting to hear an audiophiles comparison between these two.

It has a Bass Boost option which can be boosted by quite a good amount.

if you want..... you can buy creative earphones....

this one, is the best earphone out of all earphones i have used...
@ OP
the bundled earphone is good enough in term of bass, do not let the sound leak by using appropriate size of eartip with thm and it could get you enough amount of bass...
btw which earphone were you using before this ??
PowerAMP iz teh bestz! :-D

Try them with voodoo sound ! Really good sound!
I agree, the headphones included are pretty much trash, compared with my CX870 they sound terrible. I know these are expensive, but any good headphones for about 20-40$ will sound better and probably last longer. I'm in love with sennheiser, the cx200 can be found for 20$ and they sound really good too for the price.
Yes !! the Effect is really good when used in Power AMP, but when compared to my Nokia N8 ear phones, its bad.
I also have a i9000 phone and its earphones look identical as the provided by the i9103. Except for the jack, which stripes are white instead of black. The i9000 ones sound way better that the i9103.
They are also incompatible, I mean, I can't swap them. Using Voodoo on both phones.

How Does your sound sound? :D

Low Freq Response would better bass would it not that was not the Case Dolby Mobile sounds like the music is playing inside a can lol must be the type of genres i play.
The O3D's Hardware is Actually Quite Good the Software side really criples the phone i have seen the It's hardware on other devices and its better on other devices.
Yeah. Only really if i'm listening to dubstep or drum n bass. If listening to rock i have it set to standard with no eq...
The dynamic range of my earphones just give a great sound without any eq...
I prefer listening to clean sounds anyway... just the sound engineer in me.

lol i too prefer clean sound so when i ever i set up my eq i just try to get my headphone to play louder without changing the original sound i use to go hard on the bass but when i got into dubstep im happy in the middle lol when i got the o3d spent like 20min trying to get the perfect sound.
320kbps > Sound Good With No EQ .
You tried FLAC ? never tried
Flac lossless files are great but finding a player is a bit of a pain. I always go for the highest bitrate.
Yeah. I try not to change the eq at any point. Reason being is that if you amplify the eq then it can cause loss of certain subtle parts of sounds
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
I always use the flat equaliser, hate mucking with the equaliser because you can easily miss details if you do that.
Anyway, I find the O3D's audio DSP quite good (TWL6040 iirc), beats any phone using Realtek (sadly a lot), but Wolfson (SGS3 for example) comes up tops. Wolfson chips produce the best audio imo.

I've tried almost all sound mods in XDA . In v7, Acid seems to abandoned Noozxoide. So if you're a Noozxoide fan (audiophile), you're gonna be disappointed. In v5, you get to choose either Awesome or Noozxoide. Meaning, you still got an option to choose. My recommendation: Make a nandroid, delete all current sound mods, try Viper4Android.. High clarity and powerful bass... I installed it on all my devices after I tried it once. It's only a 300kb file with installation instructions in it. To me, the other BIG BRAND sound mods can't even come close...

Megabassbeats for jb v2 is way better than fancy acid sound mod.
As per my experiencing and long term testing I can say that all sound mods practically dont give any differen quality (we dont have dedicated sound chip). Our default system lib files are much capable to give high quality sound. If anybody want good quality sound then use high quality headphones with good music player having wide variety of effective equilizers with deep bass and treble effect. For me poweramp perform best job in music player category.

Go for Xhifi.. No probs to use the ICS file if on jellybean. The instructions are in the zip. Unzip and you need to change 2 system files to .bak and then replace it with their file found in the zip. It written by a Chinese fellow from China. Damn, he's a sound mod talent.

Acid v5 was good but I found its bass a bit too hard when compared to Xhifi's while Xhifi can more even specific by using its Ho clarity and Lo contour tunings. Too bad, I'm not into FX..That's like really going into details just using device's speakers. Anyway, Best of all, it doesn't leave tons of files on your device.

Anyway I have always had the issue of audio skipping.. That is, there is random short pause which I find really annoying.. I've tried nearly all mods, except acid and none of them seem to solve a the issue..
It would be great if someone has a solution to that.. I'm on cm10 and poweramp. Audio buffer setting is max in poweramp..

It would be great if someone has a solution to that.. I'm on cm10 and poweramp. Audio buffer setting is max in poweramp..

****, me too. Gonna research on this and keep you updated.
Btw, I used awesome beats for a while on poweramp and realized it sucks pretty bad, a good poweramp config wins every time. That beats crap is just overhyped dr dre fanboy ultra treble/bass
How am I supposed to UNINSTALL the previous mods? The post also says to remove dsp manager I guess. I've installed the zip version V5.. I can see the 'acid audio technology enabled' notification but no percievable difference in sound and it's not that I'm not good at listening. Is there any possibility that it doesn't get installed properly even though I can see the acid audio app? And yes I'm on cm9 a14 and the nicsptl a11 kernel.

[Sound MOD] [MF9/MDL] BMSound_Full the deep bass works on Sprint SPH-L720

Even though I flashed this with NO ISSUES whatsoever, please, for the love of God and all that is holy in the Android universe: Make a backup before flashing this! I am not responsible for what you do to your phone.
That being said: Guys...I have found what could quite possibly be the best sound mod for our phones ever. :victory:
1) first go to noskojv's thread and thank HIM NOT ME! I didn't write this mod but when I find something awesome I feel the need to share.
2) next if you have CWM go here to flash it.
3) if you're like me and you have TWRP go here to flash it.
Basically fauxsound will increase your gain (loudness) and Beats EQ will "clean up" any distortion. Beats EQ alone will not make your speaker louder.
To access the screens you see attached:
For the Beats EQ/ Music FX menu from the home screen select menu >> settings >> my device >> sound >> music effects
For the Beats EQ preset menu simply open your app drawer and find the app called BeatsEQ
Enjoy my Sprint brothers! :victory:
I also included a screenshot of my fauxsound settings.
Note: faux123's kernel OR ktoosez's kernel (which I use) found here and fauxsound are REQUIRED for fauxsound to work. You may use Beats EQ without fauxsound but if your intent on using this mod is for a volume increase Beats EQ alone will not accomplish this.
****Fauxsound will not work with any other kernel.****
***Note: I'm pretty sure Beats EQ is for Touchwiz ROMs only!
Nice! Thanks for forwarding along. I'll try it later.

You're welcome buddy. Those screenshots are from my phone. I had no issues flashing this with TWRP whatsoever. It should install with ease.
I downloaded and installed the twrp version everything went smooth but when I select an option and apply it I have to wait for it to force close before I can do the next step and it didn't sound any better than using the Volume + I downloaded from the play store but thanks for sharing I want flaming just giving my experience with it every device handles things differently

what kernel are you using? and did you clear cache and dalvik when you installed? I get no force closes at all. What ROM are you running? Try and reboot and see if it clears up your issue. I've used volume+ and I can tell you this is definitely better. My ROM/Kernel setup is in my signature.

Thanks man, I listen to a ton of Michael Bolton, so hopefully the big bass in his songs will sound even better!

I do notice the difference more on my jbl bluetooth external speakers. there's more options like the strength of the eq setting and bass strength under the headphones and bluetooth tabs.
I think for Michael Bolton you'd love the 'R&B' setting the best. I listen to a lot of trip-hop and trance and it sounds great.
I wish I could demo my sound but unfortunately that would require me to be there in person but its pretty good!

Nice, thanks! And I was totally joking about the Bolton, haha!

I can't find the sound control in KT's kernel. Not sure what to set the settings to. This seems sweet. Thanks!

Downloaded and installed via cwm. Do not see any difference in the settings and no app in drawer.
Stock rooted and ktoosez kernel.

Ahh KT uses fauxsound. The link to download it from the market is in my OP.
I use fauxsound to increase my GAIN (make it louder) and essentially use this mod to reduce the distortion and the result is great sound. Even on the crappy speaker in the back of the phone.
Just embarrassed my friend with the HTC One. My speaker got WAY louder than his. And this makes my Beats headphones sound incredible
Ps. Used Fauxsound and Ktoonz kernel to increase speaker gain
