[Poll][Q]Best file manager for android? - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the best file manager for android.

You can use Astro File Manager or Root Explorer

undoubtedly solid explorer

Solid Explorer or Es File Explorer

Another vote for es file explorer. Its easy to use but so powerful. I even use it to stream video from my PC on my home network. It finds samba shares automatically. And you don't, need a separate root explorer as it can do root tootoo

> OI filemanager, its a plain filemanager and doest the job well. or Inka filemanager

Use Terminal Emulator
Rename/Move: mv [FILE] [FILE2/PATH]
Copy: cp [FILE] [PATH]
Delete: rm [FILE]
Rootaccess: su
Show file-content: cat [FILE]
BRICK PHONE : erase_image recovery
It‘s very easy to use !

Too much typing for my fat fingers. Lol

I was installed root explorer but it shows in chinese language how to change to english from chinese language

No Doubt 'ES FILE EXPLORE'
XDA Premium

As the replies clearly shows, there is no best file explorer, only best for you. Try them all then decide for yourself. Its like this with every application, from launchers to back up software. It all comes down to what you want it to do, how close it comes and how easy you find the application to be to use. Personally I use both solid explorer and es file explorer.

No pre-installed file manager??

Hello,
This might sound stupid...I had to copy some files from my pc to my Xperia Play for school (normal .pdf files) when I've putted everything on my phones sd card from pc ofc,I couldnt find a file manager :/ on my previous phone : Samsung Galaxy W there was a pre-installed app to open files...Also wheres the taskmanager ? I really need help ... I just installed Astro filemanager. So wheres the original file manager?!

Task manager or the closest thing to it is in settings>apps>Manage apps>Running Services>*click running at the top right*.
There is no Sony Ericsson file manager.
Well sad that there is no file manager :/. What filemanager do you guys use?I use the ES Taskmanager as taskmanager .

Root Explorer all the way. It's the most simple, powerful and elegant file manager out there. Huge searches in seconds, a wholly unobtrusive UI and a tad of options like the possibility to peek into zip files, a nice text editor... I just can't love without it.
ES File Explorer's been the best for me, especially when it comes to network functionality. Very easy to access the shared media on my computer with ES File Explorer.
Oh wow guys for helping .Im using ES Filemanager its the best.

Seriously, you haven't tried File Expert yet...
Besides, Root Explorer is for guys who do a lot of modding system settings. So for your case, a straightforward application [and also more elegant] is what you need.
Mine came with 'office suite' pre-installed which is a file explorer.

Office suite doesnt read all files.

Don't use task managers / killers, even google say that.

File manager

Is there a file manager available on the Play Store, that will allow you to change the rw permissions of a file?

I use Solid Explorer and I know it can do that. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer&hl=en
Root Explorer, Root Browser
ES File Explorer also can do that.

Rename file with root explorer and it disappears. WHY?

I used root explorer to rename a file and it disappeared. Any reason as to why? I renamed it with .bak on the end

It disappeared from its original file location? I just renamed a pic and its still on the proper file location however I can't view it via any apps which is expected. The ".bak" extension just means "backup" so it's hidden from view/use.

It just disappeared. It was in the system/bin folder. It was a file that had to be renamed when using ktoonz kernal along with jelly bean and touchwiz

Okay I have the APK but now i need to copy it to the system/app folder. How do I do that? I tried moving it and copying it with Astro File Manager but that didn't work.
Did you try installing the apk?
To move it to system I believe you need a file manager with root access like es file explorer

yes I tried to install it but that failed. I downloaded es file explorer and then enabled and granted root but when I tried to copy or move it to the system/app folder, both failed. The apk seems to can't be moved at all.
Make sure you selected mount file system as writable in root settings in ES File Explorer.
