howto update to JB on unlocked devices? - Asus Transformer TF700

Like many others, i have unlocked my infinity. I'm sure most of them are eagerly waiting to install the JB update manually, but don't know how to do it. Is there somebody here who can describe in detail how to manually apply the update for unlockers? assuming they've only unlocked and have stock recoveries? And provide a link to the needed update file for ww and us variations that are already tested en found working? i'm sure many would be very thankful...
edit: this is already very interesting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915079

[Q] 8.6.5.13 US update download

It is probably not really interesting to anyone now, because everybody already have updated, but somehow the update is not pushed to my device. So, the question is: where can I get the original update file whatever the filename is? I googled it several time and found zero references.
Official Asus site has older 8.6.5.9 version:
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+TF101&p=20&s=16
Asus ftp has older version as well:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF101/
xda-developers dev forum has modified update with root and for CWM.
Where can I get UpdateLauncher_US_epaduserV8_6_5_13.zip ?
Thanks
The full-update blob has not yet been released, just like the kernel source. Hopefully it will be out in a few weeks.
For now you can get the same effect if you flash the 8.6.5.9 full then the 8.6.5.13 update!
And where can I get the update?

Connect on your wi-fi and it will download.
It might not be downloading because of your current version, but if you flash the one mentioned above, it should then do it automatically.

No it doesn't. I have HTJ85B.US-epad.8.6.5.9-20110816 and I checked for update and did other tricks people mentioned, still no update. I just need to know the URL, so I could download it myself. I had root before and the the tablet has had the TW firmware originally, so this may be the reason for updates doesn't really work for me.

The file finally appeared on the Asus FTP site.

Unlock Bootloader Asus Updates

I understand that it voids the warranty etc (although it seems asus are better than some at fixing hardware issues on unlocked devices, and my warranty is with amazon anyway...)
What i dont get is the deal with updates. Does unlocking only stop ota updates? or will it prevent me from updating by downloading from the asus site, and doing a manual install?
Thanks for any info, i finally have a sound TF700 (3rd time lucky on RMA) and want to start trying out some of the ROMs!
Do not attempt to in install from Asus website. It will brick your tablet. Check the prime forums. There should be numerous post on this when they first released the unlock tool. Since you don't have nvflash I would advised against being adventurous.

Only OTAs are affected after unlocking, but you can manually update using the firmware from Asus site. With the firmware from Asus site you can recover your device or update but you can't downgrade to a lower version.

ok so two very conflicting answers XD
i would hope/assume that the second is true, but if anyone else could shed some light it'd be great :good:

This is absolutely untrue. Many of us that unlocked before the .26 update as well as some that have soft-bricked after flashing a CM10 pre-alpha were able to use the official updates and firmwares to get patched or back in working order.
^ This.
But I believe it re-flashed the recovery back to stock for some? (so better use those re-made zips with blobs posted here if on TWRP or other custom recovery or be prepared to do some re-flashing - just choose the most comfortable option)

I'm just going off of this in the dos and don't section of the prime. I guess it has worked for others.
DON'T
Once you unlocked the prime and installed CWM,*do NOT*try to install a super blob from ASUS (that is a blob file from one of the 'full' updates from their site)It seems that doing so*totally bricks your Prime*with no chance of recovery... (happened at least twice so far)

I believe some have flashed the official update using TWRP (don't have time to search for posts atm) and I know for a fact that you can manually do it by writing the blob to the staging partition with dd. Maybe CWM on the Prime has a bug with regard to official blobs?

As far as I know only the OTAs are affected, but why would you unlock if you were only interested in ASUS' branded firmwares anyway? The whole idea of unlocking is to enable installing custom ROMs! I sincerely do not mean to be rude, but I am going to direct: if you would, in any way, shape or form, be inconvenienced/scared/depressed/frightened/saddened to lose the functionality of updating from ASUS' repository, well, news flash: don't unlock at all. ; )

New firmware available 9.4.5.30-20120907. Do NOT upgrade if you want NVFlash

Hi all,
I have just received an OTA update from ASUS. It seems that the camera firmware has been updated. Unfortunately no JB upgrade yet...
I have uploaded a picture containing the update information. During the update it seems I have lost Root access. The tablet was rooted but not unlocked.
Do not perform the update if you want to install NVFlash. NVFlash does not work (yet) with the .30 firmware!
This is the .30 update that has been out for about a week now... the version number that you are referring to is the *kernel* version number, not the firmware release (which is .30). So, nothing new here...

Thank you. I have changed the subject title. It was old news for you which proves I quickly need to re-root and unlock my tablet .

[Q] stuck at ICS

hi, First I want to describe my problem. Many of tf700 users had update failure when jb came out and I am one of them. I used my tablet with ics until today. I want to update it to jb. I already read some manuel updating guides but no luck I couldnt get it worked. Even followed the guide about dmclient etc. And many of these guides they are redirecting me to asus website for jb firmware. In asus site when choosing OS there is no OS to be selected ! I dont know why. I am on .30 version of ics. Thanks in advance

OK, so you have a lot of options, do you want to run custom rom?? it's a night and day between custom rom and stock. If you are unlocked, there is NO REASON to stay with stock rom!!!
Yeah I unlocked for it but you know whats my problem. I can flash ics custom roms I know. Is there a way update to jb with twrp ? Or what do you recommend me to do
For example can I directly flash cleanrom while i am not on jb ?

with twrp you could flash full stock JB firmware (included JB bootloader), or just flash independant JB bootloader, then flash cleanrom. The easiest way is flash JB bootloader then Cleanrom. Make sure your twrp is either version 2.3.10 or newer.
JB bootloader and cleanrom can be found here:

TF700T Downgrading and root.

I updated my TF700T OTA to JB and need to return it to ICS so I can root it.
The developers forum here has the correct ROM US v9.4.5.30 but has no md5 listed with it.
Asus webpage only carries the Jb ROM now. I would like to get the firmware with md5 listed and
a tutorial for rooting a TF700Twith CWM. I used CWM in rooting my Toshiba Thrive and liked the results
I have read so many links on this and found many of them used outdated or incompatible programs for
what I need. I know it should be easy but I like this pad and do not want to brick it.

You can not root with CWM, you only can use CWM to flash root if your device is unlocked. If you are locked you need to use debugfsroot method can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588
