hi, First I want to describe my problem. Many of tf700 users had update failure when jb came out and I am one of them. I used my tablet with ics until today. I want to update it to jb. I already read some manuel updating guides but no luck I couldnt get it worked. Even followed the guide about dmclient etc. And many of these guides they are redirecting me to asus website for jb firmware. In asus site when choosing OS there is no OS to be selected ! I dont know why. I am on .30 version of ics. Thanks in advance

OK, so you have a lot of options, do you want to run custom rom?? it's a night and day between custom rom and stock. If you are unlocked, there is NO REASON to stay with stock rom!!!
Yeah I unlocked for it but you know whats my problem. I can flash ics custom roms I know. Is there a way update to jb with twrp ? Or what do you recommend me to do
For example can I directly flash cleanrom while i am not on jb ?

with twrp you could flash full stock JB firmware (included JB bootloader), or just flash independant JB bootloader, then flash cleanrom. The easiest way is flash JB bootloader then Cleanrom. Make sure your twrp is either version 2.3.10 or newer.
JB bootloader and cleanrom can be found here:

Thoses guides are for people that have'nt installed the OTA JB update, the OP should make that clear in his guide. You cannot downgade from JB to ICS, this is a known fact. The bootloader changes when you update to JB and you cannot go back to the ICS bootloader.

So correct me if I'm right,I'm on stock OTA JB, since I can't go back to ICS to root/flash ROM's,what can I actually do now, unlock the bootloader ,if so why for, root, but what prerequisites do I take?

The Asus unlock tool works with the JB bootloader so you will be able to flash a new recovery and some JB rom's, only one is avaible at the moment and it's Hydro.

Download and run the unlock tool, then you need to flash a custom recovery with your computer. Then you can follow the HOWTO to flash HYDRO.

Anoyone wjho knows anything about JB og a Root for this device?
Iwould be happy the day i can get a custom firmware on it, sad that i dont know how to make this things on my own....
i think theres no way to root right now because the tf700kl has another soc as the tf700t and so the recovery from tf700t doesnt work.
and the recovery is the only way to root a asus device with jb on it.
so someone must make a recovery optimized for the tf700kl

There is still no bootloader unlocker for it either. I haven't dared to try the one for TF700T ICS. So even it there was a recovery, we might be screwed. The TF700KL is on ICS 4.0.4 atm btw. And the method what worked for TF700T 4.0.3 does not work it seems (I tried...).

Recently traded in my iPad for the TF700 and I can say I am indeed pleased with my decision, however I am new to the community and have been recently searching for a method to install CleanROM to make my user experience even better, or as it so claims. So far after reading through a couple of guides I have been able to unlock and permanently void my ASUS warranty, which I am okay with. I'm not sure if I'm rooted or not (lol) but I tried running SuperSU and it said something about not being able to write into the binary files so I guess I'm not. Anyways heres a quick breakdown of what I've done and what I'm hoping to accomplish.
TF700 32 GB
I got the OTA update for JellyBean 4.1.1
I didn't do anything until now so I guess you could say I got the tablet with Jellybean installed on it vanilla.
Unlocked Successfully.
Flashed CWM recovery but for some reason when I try to enter from the boot loader menu the screen just flashes on and off. I've transferred the clean rom zip into the root of my device already. anyone know the problem? Thanks!

If you've unlocked the bootloader then you don't need to root, just install custom recovery and flash the ROM of choice...

I think I know where the little confusion comes from: you need root access to install TWRP from GooManager, but not for flashing anything from recovery.
So, if you've unlocked the bootloader and flashed CWM already, you're all set to flash CleanROM. As you should know, you will end up with a pre-rooted OS, so there's no need to follow through with anything other than customizing to your liking in-OS.

In all probability, that thread is indeed the best place to start from, no matter what your issue or question may be. It's getting pretty comprehensive.
What is the current version of CleanROM
I have done a little research and CleanROM appears to be recognized as fast, stable, and not having issues with assorted features (i.e. GPS, camera, etc.). I have had a hard time finding what the most current version is, what Android version it is based on (i.e. 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.2.1, etc.). Is there an offcial site, including downloads someone can point me towards? Thanks.

HI all,
I'm not new to the flashing game, but this asus device seems to be high maintenance.
I wanna install the AOKP 4.2.2 Full Functionality custom rom on my device. Here is how I plan to do it. Can someone verify that this procedure will work as I don't wanna ruin my tablet.
1. I'm gonna root my device using Unlock_v8.apk to unlock bootloader then recovery-jb.img to root.
2. I wanna use GooManager to flash the following files in this order
a) Aokp_R05.zip
b) gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
c) update.zip (to fix governor issue)
Thats it!! Will this work?
One last question. Is AOKP 4.2.2 Full Functionality a Build or a Milestone?
Thanking you in advance

Be careful, which bootloader do you have installed now?
If it is 4.2, recovery-jb.img may brick your device.
If it is 4.1, I think you need to use Unlock_V7.apk.
Also make sure, which bootloader is supported by the ROM you want to install.
That it has version 4.2 does not mean it will work with the Asus 4.2 bootloader.
There are several threads on upgrading/downgrading the bootloader.
Please read carefully!

Not a dumb question!
Yes, if you are running Asus 4.2 stock ROM, you have bootloader 4.2.
Make sure to read the respective threads carefully. It is not well supported yet and many users bricked their devices by not reading carefully enough.
Specifically: keep away from CWM (recovery*.img) and use only the TWRP version patched specifically for BL 4.2.

Require old bootloader. You need to downgrade

Ok thank you all so much. You've been very helpful. I don't think I'm gonna root my tablet anymore. If i have to downgrade boatloader, then flash it.. It just sounds like its high maintenance. I'll just tolerate it for now. I may revisit this option at another time. Is downgrading boatloader a pain in the butt? Thank u for letting know about my boatloafer version, which recovery to root & about the downgrading of boatloaders. You've all been so very helpful. Thank you.

Judging from your other comments, you have the new boot loader 4.2, right?
Sorry, but then AOKP 4.2.2 is not for you without downgrading.
For installing TWRP and/or downgrading, use this thread as a starting point; it links to others.
Of course you can skip the part about upgrading to 4.2 boot loader, scroll down a little!
[GUIDE] Update/Recovery/Root/Downgrade Android 4.2.1 on Unlocked/Locked Devices
If you don't want to downgrade, this thread lists the two ROMs that are currently compatible with your bootloader:
[WARINING] DO NOT install a recovery from 4.1 on a 4.2 tablet!
Or you might want to just wait a little. Seems Asus finally released the new kernel source code, so there should soon be more ROMs supporting the new 4.2 boot loader.
Thank u f69m again youve been so very helpful. I really dont like the latest update on the tablet. My tab seems to be very slow. I think i will downgrade the boatloader and install aokp 4.2.2..

I'm on the brink of unlocking the bootloader on my TF300T (shipped with ICS; got it December 2012), but wanted to verify a couple things before taking the plunge.
I understand that OTA updates from Asus will no longer work. I also see that Asus has all their firmware updates available for direct download from their website - aside from losing root, are there any reasons why I can't use those manual updaters?
I read the "don't install CM10 yet on the 4.2 bootloader" sticky, so I'm not even going to try CM10 yet (although I saw an unofficial CM10.1 is compatible). Once it's compatible, is it worth flashing? I use CM on my phone (HTC Evo 4G) because I don't like Sense (and would have been stuck with Gingerbread!), but on the TF300T, Asus's ROM is generally pretty decent, so what is the advantage (if any)?
Right now, all I want to do is:
Unlock the bootloader using the official Asus APK
Install recovery using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982
Root the stock ROM using the same thread
I've looked through the warning threads and most recent stuff here on XDA. Is there anything else I need to worry about, or does the above-referenced thread have me covered?
Anyone? I just want to make CERTAIN I'm covered before I take the plunge...

Well you can root without unlocking if that's all you want to do. You'll get much more benefit unlocking and flashing a custom ROM though.
That guide has it all covered.
I thought with JB and the 4.2 bootloader, you had to unlock to root? Is that not true?
Everything I've seen about rooting indicates that you have to be running ICS to root; JB blocks the previous exploit that was used for rooting.
