They're all one piece, made by Samsung. Easy to replace if you have the correct tools and some patience, but expensive (£100 -£120).

SAMOLED always has the digitizer included, while LCDs like in the One X still has a separate digitizer which can be integrated in the front glass

do i have to replace the whole lcd. i see digitizers on ebay for like 20 bucks...
I have been told that they must be replaced together
Yes, the screen, glass, and digitizer and all that are fused together. As far as I know you can't replace one without replacing it all, bringing your price closer to $180. I've got a broken screen now as well. Wish the glass was an easy (or rather cheap) replacement.
Edit: I see the glass only on eBay, but I'll give you warning that the SAMOLED screen is glued to the glass pretty well. Unless you REALLY know what you're doing, there's a 95% chance you'll break the LCD trying to separate it from the glass, then you'll definitely have to spend the $180 or so for the whole thing.

broken screen!! D:

hello, so I dropped my phone and the screen is badly cracked. I'm comfortable with replacing it but I'm wondering if I should just replace the digitizer as the LCD looks ok except two discolorations at points of impact. I'm curious if they could be just due to the pressure from the broken screen or do you guys think I should just replace Tue LCD? Could those discoloration be permanent damage to the. LCD? Obviously,if I can avoid spending extra on the LCD I'd rather do that.
Thanks for any and all advice.
You will need both

Well, at least it'll be slightly easier since I won't have to pry the LCD from the digitizer.
Been there. I ordered my digitizer thinking I could do it. There is adhesive all across the screen. Lightly heated and gently pried apart. But no luck. Ended up destroying the lcd . Had to order the screen LCD pack. Working great now.

Just out of curiosity, is the at&t one x compatible with the S720E lcd and digitizer? I thought the S720E was the quad one x

Are the digitizer and LCD bonded?

Hi All,
I've seen this question asked but haven't found a clear answer.
Could someone confirm whether or not the digitizer and the LCD are bonded together on the Sensation?
If so is it worth the risk to try and replace just a shattered screen and save some money or should I go ahead and buy a front assembly (digitizer+LCD) to be safe?
Thanks

Well that was fast, clear and concise! Thanks.
So when the hereunder item's description specifies "pre-bonded" (under 'package' or in the page title) it's basically bulls***?

I would say so, check YouTube, there are some videos quite clearly showing that they are not bonded together.
To save you searching, one of them is this:

Right, so it seems indeed. Although those videos never show you the result after putting it all back together.
I guess the only remaining advantage to buying the "pre-bonded" unit is to avoid having to fiddle with trying to have zero fingerprints and/or dust particles between the two when reassembling...?

To buy the pre bonded just for the dust free digitalizer

I've had a Sensation apart to replace just the LCD piece. It was a huge pain in the butt to get the glass off the LCD. They are glued together with some pretty strong glue.
It's possible that the advertisement you cited just means they are already glued together when they say "pre-bonded".
fixed lcd
bought on ebay and replaced my LCD myself 2days ago. The LCD is bonded more strongly to the shell and the digitizer ontop of it meaning you have to separate them any way to change as the digitizer will comes of its self. They even have separate cables to the main board. The glue isnt that stong, slow careful lifting it with the plastic tool kept things undamaged, so i didnt use a heat gun as too mch risk of oveheating the still good digitizer. I love my screen now , dead pixels smack in the middle were driving me nuts!! now just to fix my wifi issues....
Right so they ARE bonded!
Problem is, my digitizer is really badly shattered. So badly that a couple tiny fragments have come off when swiping the screen, leaving the LCD exposed. So if they're indeed "glued" together, won't I be taking a risk trying to remove all those glass fragments from the LCD in hope of reusing it (the LCD, that is)?

So what you are saying is that even if I buy a new front assembly (LCD + digitizer) I will have to separate them anyway to put it back together?? That seems odd...
BTW, where did you buy your parts?

I meant that digitizer is glued to the lcd but more lightly than LCD to body. Therefore when disassembling the digitizer comes of on its own as the glue is not strong enough to pull the LCD from body together with it. They are not bonded together as strong as samsung phones. Only bonded with not so strong glue along a small strip on the edge of digitizer; the area with black coat underneath. Taking a look at the older LCD, actually there is this sticky tape that maybe separating the two, the tape sticks to the LCD wraps it around and the tape glued to the body underneath with the digitizer on top of the tape. just carefully remove the digitizer parts, not as bonded together as you may think. if your carefull you wont need to replace both.
Bought the LCD on ebay.

[Q] Can I Join New Digiter glass and Seperate New LCD

Okay so I was duped by the low price when trying to fix my wife's One X and purchased the digitiser only.. I didn't even attempt to install it but I did pull her phone apart and destroyed her LCD and Touch screen before even separating the assembly as my tool slipped between the digitiser and LCD resulting in cracked/broken LCD
To be honest its a scam sellers are selling the glass only without clear warning of the dificulties ahead that LCD is sooooo fragile! and too much heat would just break the LCD..... and possibly de solder parts....
Now it still powers up and is visible via USB
Should I splash out the extra $30 and get the LCD only part from eBay and attach it to the touchscreen I already have?
or should I just buy the whole assembled unit for $90(Australian)
also Which LCD would I want? I have the Aussie Tegra version...(So I'm guessing the non AT&T version..)
Any Advice and experience would be appreciated Cheers!
To be honest I'd just buy the LCD + digitizer. The chances of being able to successfully join the two parts together yourself are fairly slim.

What timaaaaa said. I've yet to hear of anyone doing it successfully, and if there is someone they're definitely the exception. You know first hand how difficult it is to handle those parts, do you really want to risk it? Just put the digitizer you bought back on eBay (if your conscience allows you).

Htc m9ew me replacement screen digitizer

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where I can buy a new complete digitizer screen? Not just the glass, as I have bought the glass not realizing I need the digitizer itself as they can't be split without damaging the digitizer itself as its glued to glass screen and they can't separated.
Thanks
Can anyone tell me how to even begin opening this up? whatguide do you follow for that please
