[Q] How to do factory reset after rooting - HTC Pico (Explorer)

hello all
I rooted my phone around a month ago with jaggy tutorial (First did factory reset then root)
But forgot making backup with CWM
and it has my data in it
Before trying to use some custom roms I want to do a factory reset (delete each and everything, make a fone like new) then do backup so that if something goes wrong , on restoring fone become new with maximum free space
But I heard if we do factory setting it hangs on htc logo
So how to do it without bricking fone
And plz move it to right section if it is not

I have read (although I am not 100% sure) that if you backup the fonts folder from the data partition on your phone, and then use AROMA File Manager from recovery to restore the folder after the factory reset, it will work. I may not be remembering that quite right, or I could have misunderstood when I read that, so it's probably best to wait for someone to confirm that before trying.

Go to bootloader,select factory reset

I never had an issue with bootloops when factory reset. It may be true for some Galaxy devices(EMMC SuperBrick bug) but not for us.

Never wipe data from settings. Recovery wipe data formats /cache, /data and /sd-ext.

First thing to try is removing the battery for a while (say, half an hour) and then try again. I have had success doing this when my phone has given me bootloops, and it has also worked on my brother's phone (a different Android phone).

Rooting the stock rom that comes with the phone and doing an factory reset will does certainly put you in a bootloop. If you are trying to install a custom rom then install that and then you can do a factory reset from recovery without any problems. On the other hand if you would like to stick to stock then you may download the pre-rooted india based stock rom by immortal_yash here.
Hit thanks if i helped

[Q] custom recovery factory reset (p500)

Hi there,
I installed void #echo on my p500 a few months ago, and it was good for a while, but now for a few reasons I want to return to the factory defaults. I had done a nandroid backup before flashing void, but I'm getting a "damaged SD card" message when in void, and I can't restore from my backup.
I have read that, before installing custom recovery, you could do a hard reset by holding the power + vol down + home buttons, but now of course that just boots into custom recovery.
I have also read some instructions on flashing original firmware, but they seem to all assume you're on a PC, and I'm using a mac.
Is there no way of simply doing a factory reset after installing custom recovery?
What would be my best course of action to getting my phone back to factory default state, considering I've got a damaged SD card, and using a mac?
Thanks in advance!
ancat
I think the only solution is to have use a nandroid backup or flash kdz........if u press home + volume down+power, it only resets void to its original settings

Sounds like I'm out of luck then... guess I'm stuck with what I've got then

Why thank you for that enlightening post! I'm sure that simply doing the wipe data/factory reset option in custom recovery does exactly what I needed, and everyone else who went through the procedures using KDZ firmware updater were wasting their time

1/ Get a working SD card. Duh!
2/ Until 1/ is finished, the only thing you can do is doing a factory reset of your current ROM or get a Windows PC to use KDZ.
Bye.

1 is finished, it just took a simple format & repair SD Card in custom recovery, no need to go out and get a new one.
So now that is done, could you explain where to go from here, or just post some links? I've looked all over, and can't find anything about doing this without KDZ?

You should maybe see a doctor, since your look must be pretty weak. If you actually had read the sticky thread, you would have found e.g. this thread containing a huge archive of recovery images including the stock recovery or this thread containing a nandroid backup of the stock **** (there are nand backups for other versions as well, go and use the search, will not do the legwork for you.)

Thanks for your help bro but even when I flash stock ics i can't get sim to work
If i just flash only the stock ics i get invalid sim card
And when i install cm10 over it the problem is still there
try these:
--> remove sim card and place it again correctly (works sometimes)
--> when you enter the CWM make sure you completely wipe your data includes- wipe cache, wipe /system, wipe dalvik cache, format /data /cache and then click on reboot the system now and remove the battery. go back to flashboot mode and flash the ICS firmware and i hope this might help coz this is what i did to my phone

Nothing bro! still the same
my phone asks for the sim password "PIN" and it only accepts the right pin code, what means that the phone reads the sim card
but i don't know why there's no signal and appears the message "invalid sim card"
I've tested many different sim cards and nothing solves
if I did something wrong
theoretically I just need to reflash an stock ftf and everything should be ok
but that doesn't solve the problem

Not needed to reflash whole ROM. Just flash the bootloader via flashtool to the recovery partition and you will forceboot your phone to Android.

For omap4430 and LG drivers, do part 1 here (you should be logged onto your pc as administrator if you are not already).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195753
Be sure to uninstall all LG stuff and reboot your computer before beginning, and temporarily disable antivirus software when extracting files.
After that, your pc will be set up to use Fastboot to install a bootloader, reflash the phone, or whatever you wish (flashing firmware will write bootloader, but it will also write everything else).

Just try to relax and take it slow, one little bit at a time, and don't get mad. That will just make things worse like wiping your system for no reason. There is no rush; zipping through the details will probably result in something important missed or misunderstood. Driver install has always been the same, even when all we had was Fastboot and ICS ported from the Korean device. It has worked for many thousands of people before you and you have done nothing to your phone, that I have read, that could cause damage that cannot be fixed (hey, maybe I missed something, but as near as I see, it can be restored). Unless you have hardware failure, which sounds unlikely at this point, all I can say is try to relax and start over. The directions have been tested and refined many times over and are just about as complete and detailed as you will find.
And you can thank LG for driver install being as fiddly as it is for this particular device :banghead:

damn you don't need lg service for something so simple... if all else failed just flash a full .kdz rom, your phone will return to 100% stock and will boot fine [i use this for .kdz flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22189294 ]. Or like lzzar said try the recovery bootloop breaker too:

[Q] Persistent reboots problem

Hi guys... I'm on a C2104, and all the roms i've used were for that version. I'm on locked BL, and i can't unlock it.
I was on stock indian 4.2.2, and then tried to replace services.jar (super user mod)... the problem was that i've got reboots after a minute since my L booted.
Then i repaired my L and got stock again. Then i tried to install serajr's rom Clean'n'Tweaked v4, but i was again getting random soft reboots, after 10-15 minutes since every boot.
After all, i flashed stock WORLD-A 4.2.2 firmware, and the soft reboot problem is still there. I've wiped data when flashing.
Can someone help me please? I really don't know what to do now :/

I used the only root method available to root 4.2.2 locked bootloader, vroot... That worked nice before i tried to change services.jar... But now rooting = reboots (maybe the reason to the error is remountrebootfix, but i don't want to try, i've already did factory reset my phone 6 times on a week)

when u use the method of flashing .tar file using odin its like unrooting your phone ; flashing the whole firmware in your phone again . in reboot mode or i guess the recovery mode ur talking about where u need to press buttons in ur device to be able to do that. it does the same thing but it just a lot easier than using odin.
but i guess your not rooted so just use the recovery mode or even in your settings option ; there is also factory reset option . but when your rooted, u need to go in odin method ..

Bro,
Power+home key +volume up= recovery mode
In this mode you can factory reset /wipe data/wipe cached partition/install zip etc.
Poeer+home key+volume down= download mode
In this mode can flash any custom rom/recovery etc. Means you can flash .tar file with your computer . But you need odin etc installed on your pc.
Hope this helps... This has nothing to do with rooted or unrooted device.

My phone is rooted and it stays rooted even if i install new roms. I did something wrong somehere and now a few features dont work on my phone. I was wondering how to make it right again. Doing regular factory reset does not work and odin mode also didnt work. Any ideas?

Since your phone is rooted , even you will flash/install rom or "custom" rom it wont unroot your phone because flashing "custom" rom from the name itself, it is customized by our respected developers to make our device more personalize and so we can do some things in our device that we cant do in our non-rooted phones. you need proper files to remove root in your device its called unrooting or unbricking. Maybe some feauters dont work because of your custom rom or any system app you accidentally deleted. to correct it , you can do factory reset but since it didnt work you can try to restore your backup if you ever made one. But i suggest to unroot your device or return it to its stock to be sure so you can really start all over again...
you can easily search how to unroot your phone.

Odin is a Windows tool to flash Rom to samsung devices... Search on Google for it... And run it on pc
Then start your device to download mode.... And connect to pc..
You can find tutorials on Internet for it.... Search "how to use Odin"
