Around a month ago Jetpack Joyride landed on amazon appstore. However non US users couldn't download it without directly installing apk (or using US proxy with amazon account). Not anymore.
Half brick has just released it on play store

Seems like it is. A question: is there any way to export my data from amazon appstore apk to play store? Titanium Backup sees the apps as different, so no go

I made some basic attempts by moving all the files (fail) and then trying to cherry-pick files (also failed).
Unless somebody responds with the answer, I'll try again this weekend.
So far, I've figured out that if you copy all files named XXXXSaveData.dat from /data/data/com.halfbrick.jetpackjoyride.amazon/files/ to /data/data/com.halfbrick.jetpackjoyride/ It transfers your meta data (awards, achievements, etc.)

But I guess no gadget or stuff that I've unlocked. Maybe they'll upgrade to the same version as the one on Amazon

I've got it:
Create backup of Jetpack Joyride (Amazon version) using TiBu (just in case)
Install Jetpack Joyride from Google Play
Play a round (kill yourself right away) of the Play version.
Exit the game
Force Stop both versions
Using a root friendly file manager (EStrong), copy all files (not the folder) from /data/data/com.halfbrick.jetpackjoyride.amazon/files/ to /data/data/com.halfbrick.jetpackjoyride/files/
Remove Amazon version
Play and enjoy!

Ok, i don't understand why you should kill yourself right away hahaha ironic since you're going to uninstall the Amazon version. Hahaha will try this! Thanks!

You don't have to kill yourself but it seems you need to at least finish a level so that something gets triggered in the file structure. Just doesn't make sense to put in any real effort if it is all going to be wiped out anyways.

Hahaha yeah! Am now playing the PlayStore version. Great guide.

nice game, very responsive but resembles very much of Run Run Bear game on play store. I have been playing that for quite some time.

Kinda worked for me... Crashed on start up. I cleared data and it started up. But lost mission data. Kept high scores and items
all missions data reset.
odd

THX for the information xD

i wished i read this before clearing and removing the amazon version. oh well, i guess i have to play from scratch

After multiple attempts I got it to work. I noticed it automatically brought it my "stash" but it took a lot of tries and reinstalls to get the missions and stats to link up.
Thanks!!!!!

You have to play a full round or it will crash on start up, i.e. you must die in the game. You cannot just start a game and then exit out. Did you finish a game or did you exit the game while in progress?

not able download through ur link
Downloaded the game from the link you provided and installed it. When i try to play it, it says i dont own it and that i cannot play it. First of all, Amazon app store wont let me from Canada buy/download the game. When I get it from someone else, the game says i dont own it. How the hell can I play this game then? Rovio is so stupid for making things so complicated when they shouldve just released it on the android market and not on amazon's app store.
This really annoys me.
I can't get that... in the first screenshot, do they charge you for Angry Birds and Angry Birds Season? They're free on the Android Market, why is that?

Yeah, i've never seen it on any other android app before. I tried turning off wifi and it requested it in order for the app to work. Guess ill have to wait and see if someone can find a workaround on this. Im shocked Rovio would risk pissing off fans by allowing Amazon.com to be their goto host for their new game when only US based fans can play it.

Yeah you can play it .
There are some requirements though.
1. You need to have the appstore installed
2. You need to have a very slow internet connection like GPRS
3. You need to run it, wait till it loads till you get the first error with see details and quit.
4. Click on see details.
5. Back to game very quickly, to the choose level and play
It will between every level crash also on pause though
Screenies later
EDIT: https://picasaweb.google.com/nedamdam/AngryBirdsRio?feat=directlink
I apologize for the bad quality, but shoot me wont work like it should and I am in a hurry

I am guessing it is more an Amazon thing. I am betting Amazon has a clause that they can set the price to whatever they want but will continue to pay the developer the normal costs. Amazon is a BIG companie and they would be more than happy to eat the cost of some games to get their market out there and widely used.
I am sure Amazon is in the process of making their market work beyond the US, but they have to start somewhere. Amazon rules, just give them time.
Edit: My assumption was correct... Amazon set the free cost. http://paidcontent.org/article/419-amazon-launches-its-appstore.-is-a-tablet-or-a-handset-next/#
—Unlike other app stores, Amazon has decided that it will wield control over how apps are being priced—although developers can suggest a retail price. This will let Amazon promote certain apps for free, before potentially hiking up the charge at a later stage when downloads have picked up momentum. This appears to include a promotional scheme to offer one normally paid-for app as a free download every day. To kick things off, it looks like Rio, the new Angry Birds game that Amazon nabbed exclusively for the appstore, will be free at first, later going up to $0.99 per download.

Even if I do this, at some point it will display an alert with "Content not allowed" or "Internal server error" and will exit the application after pressing OK.
I am in Canada. Downloaded the app store on my Desire Z. Angry Birds Rio would not load, said it is not available for this region. I went to Titanium back-up, wiped all data for the Amazon app store. I then logged into the app store (on my phone) with a US friend's Amazon account and presto, Angry Birds Rio is up and running perfectly on my device. I did not use wifi, solely my Rogers 3G connection. I hope that helps.

You didnt read what I wrote? Yeah it will. But it didnt do it on me in 3 levels right in the game play. Just at "pause" , between levels , options and starting.
as you can see in the screenshot I finished 3 levels already. Cant much more. Since I am at work. but will test how long in a level it let me run if it the error pops out.
Installed amazon appstore, downloaded and installed angry birds rio...been playin it for like 30mins.. plays fine. Damn monkeys on the 2 theme haha

Sorry, yes that link has the download link.... I finished the post and saved it before giving the link to my friends thread, but its there now ..... enjoy as this Black themed Market is sweet plus it also unlocks regions checks on it, so that apps that normally wouldnt show up in your country will show up now in search results. Doesnt mean apps are free, it just simply lets you view items on the market you would not be able to view unless on your PC, MAKING THAT VERY CLEAR......
This looks REALLY nice! Matches my phone more too!

I would like to report this to him.
The mod is not working here. Still doesn't appear country restricted apps like Play Music (Google Music).
I'm outside US/Canada and I wish someone can mod Play Store so we (outside) can browse music, books and video stuff.
I can do this but I need to start WiFi hotspot on my laptop, through Hotspot Shield, clear Play Store data, and then access to full market.
Will be possible to mod this restrition?

Umm, I was too scared to flash the zips (i usually get bootloops or problems even when others are successful, lol ) and Im used to manually copying system apps so I did the 2nd step from the thread. But Do we really need both apks (Vending.apk and Phonesky.apk to have this properly themed?) I only ask, because the Phonesky.apk is not originally in our system/app folder of our phone. I would think the Vending.apk is where the theming was done.
Edit** I do see the changes and its a nice look for the Play store.

Yes, root is necessary...this installs either via manually using root explorer to copy paste the files in the proper root only folders, or you install via Custom Recovery

Thats why I manually replace system/app's instead of flashing in cwm. I get the bootloops a lot.lol. But about the "error downloading update" message I only got that error on one app that tried to update(apn backup+switch). It just updated google maps and Adobe flashplayer automatically and I didnt get errors.

Well it plays fine on the Note 10.1. You might want to check Amazon because that's where I originally bought it. But I can't remember if I was able to install it from there or if I had to manually import the .apk after I installed it on something else.

I live in australia and as far as I'm aware Amazon is still unavailable to us.
Well PvZ runs just fine on the Note 10.1 (US wifi version), I got mine though Amazon.
If you have any device that can run it on the Google Play store, you can use that phone to buy/download then with root access transfer it over to your Note 10.1. Just make sure that your account is logged into both devices so it can "authenticate" your purchase with the play store. It is a work around, but legal.
Do wish there was a way to find out why a device isn't supported, but so far I haven't found out how to find out why something is and isn't supported.
And slightly off topic, Greed Corps is the opposite for me, Google Play allows Note 10.1 install, Amazon AppStore does not.
I don't know if a market unlocker will work or not, might do a little research on the Play market mods.

Two points to make on this.
You don't need root to backup. apk files. Es Explorer works fine for that purpose, no root required.
Second, you can play with the build.id file to get the Play Store to think you have a different device. That does require root, and can be dangerous.

Important to clarify though. It will only backup the apk , not the data.
I've allready tried ES, cause I also want to play PvZ on my Note, and I have bought it in Play Store for my HoX. Problem is: ES will only backup non-paid apps (at least without root).

If I deny root rights it still works for me. I wonder if it only works for me because it still thinks it has root. So it's not needed to actually function, but refuses to even try if it thinks you don't have root. I can't really test since I don't have any unrooted devices.
Re: [Q] is plants vs zombies available in Google play
I have pvz v.1 installed in my gnote 10.1, and it run smootly.

correct me if I'm wrong
Re: [Q] is plants vs zombies available in Google play
It installs fine. The problem is finding a place to sell it to you. The OP said it's not available from Google and Amazon doesn't work on his country. I wonder if appbrain or getjar might be an option?
Re: [Q] is plants vs zombies available in Google play
It's not avaiable in my country too, so I decided to search in google and found one
correct me if I'm wrong
Try Market Helper, this makes Google Play thinking you're using an other device than the Galaxy Note 10.1 without editing build.prop
I'm not able to post URL's yet, so you just have to google it.
Now available from humble bundle
Just an update, so plants vs zombies is now availble from humble bundle and it works perfectly on note 10.1
I have to agree with JTG81, Humble bundle is the best way. Just enable side loading, and pick it up before the bundle goes away.

New Google Play Store Sucks

Does anyone else think the new Google Play Store sucks?
It's a horrible use of space. It's bad enough that recently Google made it so that if you want to buy an app, you are forced to create a Google Wallet account that is tied to your mobile carrier.
Now, Google Play store has this big waste of space, and surprise, the tab to tell you the app's permissions is missing.
Where do I find an app's permissions?

How?
Plus you can't read the reviews sorted by most recent. This sucks really.
AppBrain to the Rescue!
I've started using AppBrain. Tells me permissions and it's a lot more user-friendly.
If you don't like the new crappy Google Play, call them and complain:
https://support.google.com/googleplay/?hl=en#contact=1
yeah
:good:
Ah, www.appbrain.com shows the app's permissions.
New layout sucks can't view installed apps only everything I've ever even looked at... Waste of time and space gonna try amazon now

When you tap on Install, a confirmation screen appears, showing you the permissions.
Permissions are also shown in Settings>Apps>*App Name*. They are in the bottom.

I agree, it's such a bad layout and the fact that you can't easliy remove multiple apps from your myapps list is an even greater frustration!!!
Really Google....!!!!
An alternative way of permission filter

If you want t search by permissions, visit the appscrawler site (appscrawler.com). I do not have permission to enter an url. But you can Google it. There are lot of Android apps what are pointing to Play Store. One of the advantage of the site is the ability to search by permissions.

i don't have much experience with google play store, since my friend reminded me not to use google play store.
His tablet was trapped by google play store, and then the tablet got into safe mode and never went out.
Every time when booted up the tablet, it went into safe mode directly.
He tried to flash the room, but in pain.

found this thread while searching for google play sucks
i too think it sucks and honestly lacks some serious functionality. all i have is a huge messy list of apps. no way to sort your apps, by either category, or even a simple search that will search your list of apps. the google play app for tablet (if it's a different build) is much worse.. lots of wasted screen space and the list of your apps is narrow and frustrating to navigate. i buy many apps and currently there is also no way to only see apps that i've bought.
maybe google doesn't feel it necessary to continue to improve and add features to it because they don't make much money off app sales? no idea, but it's pretty puzzling how long its been and again, it lacks basic functions to easy manage your apps. you should be able to manage your apps as if you were just browsing the app store. things sorted by category, title, size, date, last purchase, etc. maybe i am being unrealistic and asking for too much.. ?
I've stopped downloading new apps or updating my existing apps. Yes, to me the Google Play store sucks that bad!

Amazon Prime Video working on Nexus Player!

Saw that a new version of Amazon store (for mobile, not tablets) and Amazon Instant Video was available for my Nexus 7 on the Amazon appstore... so I installed on my Nexus 7, then backed up the apps and sideloaded them on the Nexus Player. Voila! I used the Amazon app to find Amazon Prime video content, selected it and it played ! TV and Movies.
I just tested for a few minutes - saw some stuttering as it began. Will need further testing to see if this is an issue or not.
How is it going... Any problems?
What is the recommended way to backup then restore the apps? My phone is rooted and I already Titanium Backup. I have ES Explorer installed on my phone and the NP.
The last time I did anything similar (backup from one type of device and install on a different type), I think I did with My Backup.
For backing up the apps, I used app backup & restore from the play store.

Can someone post an apk of that version of the app so we can sideload it please?
This has been working for awhile now.

On factory rom or through an AOSP rom like Lollirock? I never had any luck on the factory rom until this new Instant Video update came out...
The first version (2.0.45.1010) did not work for me. It looks like Amazon pushed out a second version ( 2.0.45.1210) that works. I pulled it straight from my phone. I have the tablet app store installed and can now access all instant videos through the tablet market place.
So happy to finally have Amazon Instant Video working! Thanks for the heads up. Now, if they could only make a remote friendly version...
How I did it
I used the suggested App Backup and Restore to backup both apps, created a ftp server with ES from my phone, connected with ES from my NP then installed them.
I poked around ES and found Library ->Apps that allows backing up apps.. So I uninstalled the apps and tried the same scenario only using ES and it worked.:highfive:
How did you manage to sign in to Amazon? I already sideloaded the apps, But I cannot pass the login screen. As soon as I start writing my email, it goes back to the initial screen.
any one want to share the apk files

As stated in the instructions, you recall it says sign into the shopping app first, before signing into the Amazon Instant Video app. This is the reason you are getting the on screen results of returning to your sign in page. You are doing the opposite, singing into the Amazon Instant Video first, which is the wrong procedure. If you continue to have issues get back with me ASAP 24/7!

Nope, I am not doing that. Actually, I did not even installed the Amazon Instant Video app yet. I first tried to sign in to the Amazon App first, And there is when it happened

I'm getting the exact same results...
I guess it is good news.
I am getting "A newer version of the Amazon Instant Video App is available. Please update the upp and return".
Not seeing a way to update in the Nexus Player, is there a newer APK?
I got an update option from within the amazon shopping app. Clicked on the ad for it. Installed and it worked, on my OnePlus One. When my NP arrives I will try again.
