My galaxy R behaves weirdly. I switch on the phone and then it turns off immediately after booting. I am on indian stock ROM 2.3.5 and never rooted or installed any infected ROMs on my phone.
I would be very thankful if someone can help me fix this.

I had the proximity sensor issue. I answered a call and then my phone was blank with the proximity sensor blinking red. I pressed the power and Home button for 8 seconds to restart the phone. It started well but then after few minutes when I checked back, it was turned off. That is how it started.
Just remove the battery, SIM card and Memory card and replace the Battery after 3 Min and try starting it and update us....

Proximity Sensor issue is because of Scratch/Screen Guard covering Proximity sensor so remove the Screen Guard and check it should be working fine...

Sure will do that. But need to confirm one thing. I also tried to hold Volume up button + Home button + Power button for 4 seconds thinking that would restart the phone. Has it anything to do with this??

Tried removing battery and sim for more than 5 minutes. (Don't use a memory card), Charged the phone through a charger for more than 15 minutes. Still no luck. The phone starts but switches off right after "Preparing USB storage" notification. Battery 50% charged now.
Totally helpless. Any other solutions?? :crying:
I had one issue regrading power button (holding it was not rebooting my phone), which I presumed hardware problem but I found following steps from iFixit
1) remove battery (you can wait 5 minutes)
2) plug USB (USB wire with laptop/PC )
3) wait for 1-2 minutes (It may give beep sound)
4) insert battery with USB connected
5) Switch on phone
It solved my problem you try this if it helps, and give update.

Do one thing last time buddy, Try to let your phone switched on without USB, charger, SIM & SDCARD. if problem persist the there is a Final step buddy, If you are not able to Switched on the phone then go to SSC & ask them for let it done. Coz your mobile is not rooted & perfect. Just go there. Dont worry, they will definitely help you out.

Hi all..i have a truble with My phone..i bought it as used..and i can't turn it back..
The problem is that My nexus, randomly, shut off and can't turn it on again ..it try to turn on and after 1/2 second (sometimes arrives to android logo) turn off again in "bootloop".. After 10 minutes of trying it, finally turn on again and does the " update application" process..
What could be the problem? (I ve noticed also that the battery ,that before that the phone turn off had 65%, after has 45%) ..
Thanks in advance and sorry for My bad english..
Plug your nexus 5 in to your charger. Does it constantly loop when on the charger? If so try to repeatedly press the power button on your phone. Do not hold it, just keep repeatedly pressing it while it is trying to boot. Does this get the phone any further in the booting process? If so, the cause of the problem could be a faulty power button.

Try a simple factory reset but i think the issue with power button is come back. Bootloop and random power off is a sintom

Don't you think that is a battery problem?
I don't think so. Power button is the problem. Because inside under the button is like you still pressing the power button. That's the problem of your nexus 5. So you see power off and boot loop.

But if now i manually long press (like that the phone do with a faulty power button) the power button, without release it, the first thing it show me is the "turn off" option, after that (without releasing the button) phone turn off and starts a single boot loop and finally turn
off completly ( without any bootloop)..i think that could be the battery because during bootloop the phone reboots in differents moment and randomly..i don't know..i have to do some other tests.. Now i m using the phone since 3 hours without any reboot.. Tomorrow i LL try to do that dkconnor suggested me.. :crying:
up .. today any reboot..
but i think that it's really the power button ( i've disassembled the phone and there is any solder point..so the assistence didn't anything.. ) because yesterday one of the times during the bootloop i tried to press also volume down and it accessed in fastboot and after one second again reboot..
so, i think that if the problem is the battery the phone have to turn off without any reboot, right?

When I connected it to usb it charge, and if i wait for screen off, when I pulse each of the volume or home button, the screen on. But when I pulse the power button, the screen won't turn on. It should turn on when I press this button??

It sounds like the battery is not charging at all and is dead or damaged.
There are 2 power circuits, 1 from battery and 1 from charger. The charger circuit is to charge the battery but will also allow screen on.
The phone is damaged but you will need to take it for repair to find the problem. It could be anything.

Remove charger and let the phone battery die, might take a long time depending on how much it was charged
Try connecting the white MicroUSB > USB adapter that came with the phone to something power hungry to drain it quicker
Power off you device and then wait 10 seconds. After waiting press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons at the same time
After the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button, while still holding the other two buttons until Android System Recovery screen appears.
Using the "Volume Down" button, highlight "wipe cache partition" and press the Power button to select it.
After the cache partition is cleared, the Galaxy S7 will reboot automatically. This worked for me ans I hope this will help

Red LED should not show when charger is not connected though
Press power button plus volume up and down hold for 5 to 10 sec it will restart ur phone same thing happen with on s6 but not on s7.
I once had to press vol up and down, power and home (that's all buttons) at the same time for ten seconds for the S7 to reboot as it was stuck and seemingly dead. No led on at the time though. But I have disabled the leds in the settings anyway.
UPDATE!
The battery discharged completely(red led was off),first i tried to put it in download mode and IT WORKED!!! But the phone wouldn't turn on because the battery was 0%.I charged it and now it works fine :| I hope this was something software related and not hardware and i hope this will never happen again.Thx for the help guys!

I have the same issue... Tried to charge my phone with 15% battery and after a few hours it was 8%. Tried to reboot, charge with the phone turned off but nothing was happening ( not charging, not booting up. tried buttons combinations as well ). The led is not showing up on mine because i disabled it from the settings so i'm not sure if it's charging or not. Took the phone to an authorized service on friday so next week i'll be getting a response from them. By the way, the phone is only one week old :crying:
Hello,
Ive tried to look for a similar situation in other thread but each case is different so i open a new one.
This morning, when i took my idol 3 the screen did not switch off when pressing power button. I thought it was battery but when i plugged charger, nothing happened except the led is on continuously. I kept power button pressed for 10 seconds. The phone vibrates shortly but still a black screen, no sound and no reaction from the touch panel. Power+vol+ did not led me to my twrp recovery. What can i do now to get it work again? The phone is rooted with Rom Eu 4.2 from murigny64 and it is the first time i encounter this issu. Thanks in advance for helping me
Tonight i disconnected the battery for about 30min then connect it again. Then i tried to start in recovery: Just a vibration but no display and no sound. I unplugged/plugged the battery again and try to start. Same problem. What the hell could happen? Maybe a deffective hardware
Insist on boot ( normal or in to recovery with vol + and power).

Can be, can be to... To bad if is battery.
But still trying to boot, is very difficult to.
.
thank you for advise but it's still not working. I spend about 30 minutes trying different combination of button: power pressed until it vibrate, power+vol up, power+vol down, power+vol up & down, discontinuous press of power with charger and no charger....and so on. Its a complete failure.
If it is the battery, there was no sign of weakness before (short life, random shutoff, ....) . It happen suddenly: I lock my screen before sleeping and the next morning no way to switch it on again.
I thought I would avoid problems for long with a twrp recovery, a backup and adb tools on my pc.....but for hardware issues its useless.
How can I be sure it is battery before purchasing another one ?

If it was the screen the touch panel would work and i could sense vibration when typing the pin code no?
The led bright continuously when i plug instead of flashing slowly as it used to do when charging. That why i think its battery.
...and when i start in recovery the phone is not detected on my pc
That's hardware brick. Don't give up, try to boot, normally or in recovery, keep trying it will boot.

Therefore the back can be dismantle and we can access battery and that s what i did.
Yes i disconnected it for several hours and pluged it again but it gave me the same result. And now it doesnt vibrate anymore when i keep the power button pressed a while.

Hello,
I received the new battery today.
So i unpacked it, i unplugged the old one and plugged the new one ...and guess what happened......the same bevahiour as with the old battery: when i press the button power, it vibrate but it doesnt start neither in recovery nor in normal mode.
I just precise that the new battery is charged at 50%........:crying:
So the problem is not the battery but it was the only thing i could test by myself before sending the phone to alcatel for repair.
Im still wondering what could happen to my idol 3: It had been woking perfectly for months and one morning with no warning, it refuse to switch on. Ok sorry for annoying us and hope it wont happen with yours.
I hope alacatel will apply the guarantee although the phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked....because its a hardware issue i think.
Hello,
Just to conclude. The phone got back from repair after 10 days. They have changed motherboard, battery and also the back that was damaged. Its a brand new phone .
Last night, I charge my phone because I notice that it was in 8% so plug it in to charge. An hour later, I check the phone if it was fully charge. I use my fingerprint to unlock but it is not recognizing it so I press the button to wake it but it is not waking up. I tried pressing for much longer to see if it wake or turn on but it is not. I tried pressing the Volume Down + Power to see if I can soft reset but that does not work as well. Plug it in the PC to see if it recognize it but it is not. I left it charging the whole night come morning when I woke and tried everything again but still won't turn on.
What could be causing this?

I use my fingerprint to unlock but it is not recognizing it so I press the button to wake it but it is not waking up. I tried pressing for much longer to see if it wake or turn on but it is not. I tried pressing the Volume Down + Power to see if I can soft reset but that does not work as well. Plug it in the PC to see if it recognize it but it is not. I left it charging the whole night come morning when I woke and tried everything again but still won't turn on.
What could be causing this?

Try, press Power + Volume Up + Volume Down. You should enter in the Download mode. Press the Volum UP button. Now release the button. Now press Power + Volume Down and wait until the logo appears. The system should be boot.

I even tried pressing it for 30 minutes. Fingers went numb. Still not working. I think it might have been drained to 0% and the phone stops receiving power upon charging.

I just went to Samsung Authorized Service Center since it is still in warranty and they said that it is the mainboard that was faulty. They just replaced it right away.
