Boot problem after rooting - General Questions and Answers

Hola! I've been rooted now for a couple of weeks without any issues.. that I knew of. The only couple of times I've powered down and restarted, I've had to hold the power button down for well over 10 seconds before it will start to boot.
Is this normal? If not, any suggestions on why this is happening?
Thanks.

hm...
I don't know how long you have to press power unrooted but 10 seconds doesn't seem crazy much to me... How did you root?
How does it act when you reboot?

Considering it only took holding the power a second or two before, it seems like a problem now. I rooted using the toolkit, 2.53, I think.

[Q] Phone not locking and unlocking occasionally

So since today when I push the power button to lock my phone it will do the crt-off animation but occasionally (1 out of 3 or 4 times) it will immediately be woken at the lock screen after the animation. It does the same while waking, it will turn on and immediately crt-off and sleep. I have even reset the flash counter and wiped and re-flashed different roms at least 10 times.
Does anybody have any advice?
Thanks
Power button is probably getting stuck. Clean it

So I took it apart and cleaned the button. I noticed that when I first flash a rom it barely does it but when all my apps are downloaded it will do it much more. Should I maybe do a unroot and reroot? I think it's mostly software. I don't know what to do next.

[Q] Phone starts vibrating and reboots

Need some help here...been running AOKP unofficial just fine for a while then all of a sudden my phone starts acting crazy and the flash will go off and then start vibrating and try to reboot, then it kinda gets stuck in a mini boot loop. I have to hold down the power button to get it to fully reboot properly. So i thought it might be a bad app. I uninstalled some apps and it kept doing it. So I wiped and installed the latest AOKP unofficial rom. it did it a couple of times even with no apps on the phone. One thing ive also notice is when I push the power button to sleep/lock, It comes right back on to the lockscreen...Thoughts?

My Old Skyrocket I'm letting my son use, is rebooting also. I notice if i barely touch the power button, it wants to go black, or even prompts to reboot. Extremely sensitive. I'll give this a go within the next few days and hopefully this will get him back in business.

First one to brick their M8?

Recently rooted it, installed Xposed, installed a module for smooth status bar or something, did a soft reboot and now it won't do anything.
Xposed doesn't seem to be working all the well with this for of root.

Mine did the same thing then just held power and volume down and it finally rebooted.

Been through the Evo, Thunderbolt, DNA and now the M8 is my first brick. I suppose I could say I lost it and hopefully the warranty will cover it.

How long did you hold it for, held mine for at least 30 seconds and nothing.
About a minute. I just kept holding it down did I say the white HTC screen. I thought I killed it to

Holy ****. I love you Bracht. I was holding Volume Down.
Just wanna chime in guys watch what you do till we have a stock recovery we can flash and everything else be gentle
Yes if your phone freezes after choosing soft reboot in xposed just hold "volume up & power" til you see the HTC logo on screen

Hold power and volume down, and have a bright light shine right on the sensor by the camera, well that's how it was with my Sprint HTC One M7

Not a brick unless you some how found a way around write protection or an unrelated hardware issue
Do a hard reboot via holding power for 60 seconds

So you are essentially saying that because we do not have system write access, it is not possible to brick the phone per se?

Not the way he described. With write protection, it is much harder

I was holding Power and Vol Down like on my DNA, turns out I had to hold Vol Up.
For some reason, I tried to boot into recovery from Goo.im and I wound up with a red "!". Holding the power for over 3 minutes did nothing. Holding Volume Up plus power put me back in business.
I've had that issue several times now where I was horsing around with xposed modules and rebooting and it would just freeze with the screen super dim and the Verizon logo just barely perceptible. Holding power forever did nothing. One thing I found that ALWAYS recovers it for me is holding power and volume UP for about 30 seconds. It hard resets it. Works every time for me.
I was starting to get scared too as I'm coming from The Galaxy s4 and am used to being able to battery pull.

Power button sticking

So I ordered my Nexus the beginning of Nov. Last year and just recently the power button started sticking. Whenever I press the it gets stuck down and reboots. I know I saw other people having this problem and Google would replace their phone. Can I have mine replaced still and if so how do I go about it? Thanks in advance! And yes I did look for other posts about this and couldn't fine anything.
