Official firmware I9001BOKQ4 - Galaxy S Plus I9001 Android Development

Hello all.
I just discovered this new firmware on the samsung-updates site:
I9001BOKQ4
REGION: TNL (NETHERLANDS)
BUILD DATE: 16.08.2012
RELEASE DATE: 11.09.2012
CHANGELIST: 1184513
Download link:
http://samsung-updates.com/fw/Samsung-Updates.com-GT-I9001_TNL_1_20120911075727_a11r7o95be.zip

New baseband?
Inviato dal mio Bio9001 con Tapatalk 2

Is there any noticeable changes? I bet that Shadow0 Rom based on KQI is still the best stock like custom rom with working TouchWiz 4.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium

Saw it this morning, its Tmobile Netherland branded rom, I will try it later..

I'm going to make a Diff report (compare KQI with KQ4), will post it soon
edit: lol why the always put the useless "SS_DL.dll" inside ?? ...
edit2: I'm looking in sec_csc.zip (Which is in cache.img.ext4) and it contains new sounds / bootanimation from t-mobile (and bloatware of course)
also, check this out:
default.prop
Code:
ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-samsung
ro.com.google.clientidbase.ms=android-tmobile-{country}
ro.com.google.clientidbase.yt=android-samsung
ro.com.google.clientidbase.am=android-tmobile-{country}
ro.com.google.clientidbase.gmm=android-samsung
I think this is a global t-mobile patch, if you look at updater-script:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-P1000" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "GT-P1000" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-I9000" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "GT-I9000" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "SC-02B" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "SC-02B" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-I9003" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "GT-I9003" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "GT-I9001" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "GT-I9001"
);
show_progress(0.100000, 0);
show_progress(0.500000, 0);
# format("MTD", "system");
# mount("MTD", "system", "/system");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
# unmount("/system");
and
VoiceDialer.apk has been removed from the rom, probably since it's sooo useless

Im interesting in a new modem/baseband drivers, maybe they are optimized since its a Tmobile update.

Samsung really disappointed me. Now even weaker models gets updates to ICS or JB. Meanwhile I9001 can't get new working stock launcher. What's the point of creating a pretty good phone and kill experience with ****ty roms?

Yeah! after 2.3.4 it directly jumped to 2.3.6. it was out on april last week.
@nail can you test with stock 2.3.4 with kies whether it is asking for update? unfortunately i have no data cable now..
Sent from my GT-I9001 using Tapatalk 2
I had installed 2.3.4 before but kies wouldn't support the phone, it would always show "this Device cannot be updated via kies"
i'm flashing 2.3.6 now.
btw from where did you get this firmware ? it's isn't there at the sammobile website

CHANGES
>Can take pictures while video recording
>Touchwiz V4.0 (but the same old icons)
>Photoeditor
>Option to change font size under "Accessibility"
>Face recognition
>Camera (seems to focus faster)
>GPU drivers
>Autorotation is faster
I checked the gpu drives there's one file repacked
but it doesn't change the score
It seems they have made a slight change in the gpu drivers.
Please test some HD games and give feed back. (A slight tweak could have done the trick)
Compared the build.prop whith the KQ7 one
No major changes.
BUGS
1)The dock reset's to it's original layout after clearing the RAM or rebooting (thank's to XenoBE)
2)App icons are misplaced after a reboot.
You can Avoid these bugs by deodexing the rom and then doing a factory reset by dialing *2767*3855#

Thank's to crybert, Here is a deodexed Version of the KQB Firmware.
The zip Package is flashable via CWM/FeaMod an StockRecovery.

Zippyshare link http://www8.zippyshare.com/v/49143861/file.html
It only contains the app/framework folder. So you have to Flash KQB via Odin first.

The lockscreen is not laggy, its very smooth. And it looks like the Galaxy Note lockscreen. The phone is not laggy at all.
It's XXKQ7 with the new added crapwiz v4.0 and the premium **** (photo editor,face lock)
Browser is the same still can see the Checkered boxes while scrolling large pages
hmm... 19 min of odin flash still on system.img.ext4 download , i'm starting to get worried
Edit: finally ,after 21 min odin decided to finish
Ive found already a bug :s
When i was adding a widget, and i pushed the back button, the homescreen was stuck in the "adding-widget" like homscreen, you can do everything but the homescreens are smaller. The only thing you can do is reboot.
I think i will not flash it... dont like tw 4.0 it has lots of wasted space between dock icons and screen... one word this is crap...
is this the official value pack?
Fukin bastards didn't bother to update the apps
samsung = Bunch of assholes

trust me it is quick, the old touchwiz is slow, this one kills it, scrolling in app drawer has never been this quick on a stock touchwiz
210mb average RAM used without anything installed, too much in my opinion,i think 180mb (as on SGS) would've looked nice.
the auto rotation is also tweaked, try watching a youtube video and rotating to landscape, it takes less than a sec
also as mentioned before, lockscreen is not laggy (for now).
Edit: Gallery loads very guickly. camera app has the snapshot icon durin video recording. autofocus still not present (at least according to my eye) .

I encountered the same bug. One workaround is add a shortcut to the screen and then delete it. Worked for me now 3 times...

So it's merely an Indian localisation. Seems that Samsung is no way aware of existing problems. I'm so gonna spam their support.

No need for that, just grab the ODIN flashable version and flash is over whatever you're running now (nandroid first, of course!)
i notice this is for i727 so will it work on i727r?

Yup but this means source drops soon! Our kernel source for our phone instead of hercules means less bugs!
Holy mother of god. I can't believe it's here! Thanks for posting this cschmitt!

the kernel and radio will be different so would this att sammobile odin tar flash on a i727r?
or is it even worth the bother? i'll assume there will be no difference between this and the rogers 4.0.4

Not noticing a big difference in UL/DL speed on the UCLF6 modem. Wasn't expecting anything either. Latency seems to be a bit better overall.

oh well ill stick with rogers 4.0.4
Popcorn,
Since your on Rogers, I would highly recommend to NOT download and install the ATT Version. You would need the SGH-I727R version. The slight differences between the 2 can become catastrophic.

have it extracted right now. will test touchwiz launcher
Will test it and reply
ok, touchwiz launcher 4 is still buggy.
maybe someone should test the launcher with this whole rom. just to be sure.
and maybe something is fixed, like lockscreen?

A small question: where did you get the attached file from? I just extracted the TW app from ROM system image and the MD5 is different... Also smaller - 1.75MB

just extract the "rom".tar.md5 with 7zip, use the cygwin kitchen and set up a working folder with cache.img.ext4, system.img.ext4, and boot.img
then you can deodex the rom and use single apk's

Are you talking about CWM recovery fix permissions ???
Is there a chance TW can be fixed with fix permisssions as well ???
Or by deodexing ???
