My phone doesn't vibrate anymore? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

So I have my phone on silent the majority of the time. Now recently for some reason my phone stopped vibrating for texts and any other notifications completely. I can't even get the timer in the inbuilt clock app to vibrate.
The motor or whatever vibrates the phone is working because my phone vibrates when I go to adjust the vibration settings. But it doesn't vibrate for notifications.

For text messages idk what rom your on but go to settings in messaging and find the vibration settings

What Rom are you using?

Ya may need to go into the messaging and email app settings and change the vibration settings there.
Next time you may want to post this in q&a section as well. I can hear the trolls coming out from under the bridge already. Just a heads up
Edit: I may want to realize which thread I'm in! Lol. Sorry, but the settings piece still applies.

I'm on CM9 and my notifications were not vibrating either. I went into system>sound>silent mode then chose vibrate. I also went into the settings of text messages under vibrate and chose "only on silent". See if any of that helps.

I dont have any vibration settings in the default text message app. Samsung's clock timer isn't vibrating on silent like it used to, I messed around with the sound settings as well and nothing changed.

I had this problem yesterday. I wasn't getting any notification for text messages. I would see them only when I turned the phone on and looked at the screen. Turns out I was playing around with the CM9 profiles settings, and had it in night time profile, which by default sets the vibration and volume to 0. You can either change the settings of that profile, or just set it back to default profile.
Having said that, it is kind of handy being able to disable notifications during certain hours...

Vibrate on SMS

Hi..stupid question but i cannot seem to get my phone to vibrate whenever I receive a text or notification..can someone tell me where i can go to set this?
I tried going into settings, sound and display but i do not have vibrate as a selection in the notification ringtone tab.
Is there an app i can download that allows me to customize my sounds?
thanks!
the settings for notifications are within each messaging application. if you go to your sms application, hit the options button and go into settings. at the bottom you will find the notification settings, including vibrate and a ringtone selection. notifications for each of your messaging apps are configured this way.

Nothing you can do about that in android. Thats the default android vibrate for notifications. I think it sucks too, its way too short and too soft of a vibration.
What you can do is install SMS Popup. Go into settings on that app and enable notifications on it. It has more options for SMS notifications, like you can set a really long vibration. Just remember to then go into the Android messaging app and turn off notifications there, otherwise you'll get double notifications. This will only help fix the problem for SMS messages. I think android still sucks on incoming notifications for other items like emails, etc.
I REALLY like SMS Popup, its great.
whats the best custom setting. i am trying to set it so it virbates alot and i can feel it

[Q] Wake up on notification

One thing that bugs me about the Captivate is that I frequently miss notifications while my phone is locked and set to vibrate (the vibrate is very weak for notifications). What I would like is a way to force the phone to "wake up" when any notification is received. By wake up, I mean for the screen to turn on for the default screen time out.
Is there any way of making this happen with an app or a mod? The NoLED app is a good idea but a battery drain... I'd prefer something than only turns on the screen for a minute when the notification is received.

Isn't that just for text messages? I would prefer something that works for all notifications including GMail and Google voice.
Try searching for mmf in the Market. It doesn't do the exact thing that what you want, but it will turn on the backlighting and flash the screen on/off when it receives sms, voice and gmail.

Thanks! That is a good start... if he adds GVoice support, it would be almost perfect.
EDIT - Did not realize you were the author! If there is a way to add GVoice support it would be awesome.
I've looked around, but couldn't find a method like they did with Gmail. I'll see if I can figure out indirectly watching GV's notification tones though.

Yeah I think the guy who wrote the NoLED app ran into similar issues with GV and other notifications... it not work in vibrate mode. Thanks for checking it out.
A blank/silent mp3 might work w/ vibrate... GV right now just doesn't seem to have a way of announcing that a new message is available like Gmail. I've put an updated version on the Market with notification tone monitoring. Seems to work fine with the limited testing I did with GVoice. It's disabled by default for now, so just toggle it on. hth

BLN Problems Nexus 4g NS4G Look Here!!! FIXED?

For all people using the Nexus S 4g (NS4g) that cant get Back light notification (BLN) Working this is what I have done for it to work.
You must be rooted and must flash Netarchy Kernel for the 2.3.4. Im using 1.3.2
CFS Stock. I am also on the Stock Rom.
First of all you should be able to use any version of the BLN Control APP. Do not try and use the "Test Section" of the BLN Control APP because it will not work and it will discourage you lol.
If you want a quick test just go to "Activate BLN" on the BLN Control APP and then close the app. Press the power button on your phone so that the screen is off. Go on your home computer and send your self an email to your Gmail. Once you receive the email your lights should glow (Blink if you have the Pro Version)
Now if you are using the Stock SMS app just turn your notifications on and as long as the screen is off when you receive your notification your lights should glow (Blink if you have the Pro Version)
If you are using another SMS program such as Handcent of GO SMS there are some options you will need to tweak.
I am using GO SMS. GO to settings, Notification Settings, enable notifications and then go to default notification settings, under screen settings UNCHECK where it says SCREEN ON.
Then go down to LED Settings. Make sure BLINK LED is checked. You also may want to enable reminders just in case you turn your screen on.
NEGATIVES ABOUT THIS MOD: Once the screen is turned on the glow or blinking will stop until you get another notification. Also if your screen was already on when you receive your notification it will not blink or glow when your screen automatically turns off. Also if you have another notification in another program that turns on the screen your glow will not work. Keep these in mind.
If anyone knows how to fix these issues please let me know.
Thanks. That certainly saved me some time (though I still wasted some on the 'test' feature ).

Won't vibrate on incoming texts

I have the phone system setting set to vibrate on incoming texts but its not working with any market sms app i try to use. I've tried go sms and pansi but neither will vibrate when i get a text even when both the system and app setting are set to always vibrate on invoking sms. I did root my phone but i don't think that has anything to do with it
I'd check your settings in sound, and sound/vibration intensity.
There are two you will want to look for:
You can find widgets to toggle through them, but I would be willing to bet that in one of the two sections you have your vibrate for notifications to be turned down, or turned off.

default notifications? ie: Led and vibration?

what are the default notifications for this phone...coming from a S5 where it was long vibrate/blue led for gmail, short vibrate/green led for text, and double vibate/i think pink led for facebook
shouldnt it be the same on the note since its lollipop?
i could of sworn gmail did the long vibrate when i first set up the phone but now it does double vibrate and i keep thinking it's facebook...is there a way to change it without lightflow?
i tried making a custom vibrate patter in system settings but gmail still double vibration
thanks!
I'm too ADD to have noticed anything you mentioned above. I always thought all notifications are the same. Either you're real astute or you have way too much time on your hands lol.
