i was wondering if the tf700t's screen would be compatible with our tf300t tablet... well, i saw some videos about the 2 different screens and i didn't notice any difference between the 2 except the resolution. but probably the problems will come in the software, but i think that it would be fixable...
what you guys think about this? let me know...:good:

Hi Guys ... and Gals,
Am thinking of getting a TF for my wife ... 16GB without the dock.
The experience I have with Android is ... well, pleasant! I use the Nexus S.
Well, since I'm using the Nexus S, I would be interested to know if the TF comes with the original Honey Comb that can be updated directly from Google or if I would have to wait for updates from ASUS.
Yes I know all things are possible with a root, but:
a) I don't want to be messing with her tablet everytime.
b) I think the ASUS keyboard with the numbers on the top line is nice. Is it available as a separate download? Is it available for the mobile too?
I'm currently on holiday and would like to buy it so ... before I move back to is there any particular problems I should look out for?
Thanks for any help
Updates happen through Asus. Though they seem to be on time with them.
I think all tablet updates come from the manufacturer

Thanks both
So, the only way to get newer versions IF Asus start behaving like HTC or Samsung is to root it and put in a custom rom! Fine ... no probs. Atleast while the going is good, we don't have to worry.
Any known problems I have to look out for before a purchase?
Thanks again.

It's not the known problems you should be concerned about, but the unknown ones.
Get a newer model. Serial code should start with B60xxxxxxxxxxx. B40 is original. B50 middle.
I have a B50 and its nice. Other then that be on the look out for screen bleed. iPad2s have bleed just like everyone else. Some are extreme. Most are barely noticeable. Just keep an eye out.

Asus made some subtle changes ( icons on the status bar) but asus was the first company to push out the 3.1 update ( after the xoom )
Thanks ... guess that will help
It's normal that the update come from the manufacturer.
Asus must have to include the specific drivers for it's tablet (not all the hardware is the same, even if the main platform is based on Tegra2)
It also made few modifications for apps integration and visuals.

The Xoom was only first in the US, everywhere else the Transformer got 3.1 before the Xoom. Actually the Xoom only has 3.1 in US, Australia,Japan and China.
it just has a few mods (buttons + some widgets and wallpapers)
so i've got my udac 2 that i usually use on my laptop but wondering if anyone has made this work for our tf101s? i see compatibility with the ipad but searched for compatibility with the tf101 or any android tablet for that matter. anyone seen anything? thanks
Hi everyone
How Are You!
I hope u r good.
I'm abt to buy a new tablet ( my 1st one ) and i'm little bet confused between transformer 3G ( on top of the list )and Galaxy tab 3G( 10.1 or 8.9 doesn't matter ).
I need your advice abt which to buy.
Does tf 3g has a root?
Do the available roms work on tf 3g?
Does it support USB, External HDD ?
Transformer owners, Does Weight of tf make it difficult to hold on your hands ( Galaxy tab 2 is lighter )?
Thanks in advance
and Sorry for my English
Regards,
N
being a senior member...one would think u should know by now to search and read the forums...the answers are out there...
For TF101, it is not hard to handle by single hand, normal adult perspective.

Yes the Razorclaw exploit appears to work with the TF101G but it seems you must stay with stock kernals (no overclocking) at least for now. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of.
It may just be the 8.9 gtab, but its really laggy. the gtab 10.1 is also having lots of complaints about the screens (oil slicks/newtons rings). Really think samsung have over killed touchwizz on them aswell. Samsungs lack of support for the tabs is shocking and as a previous 7" gtp1000 owner its one of the main reasons i changed to the Tf.
I'd rather pay a small amount extra for a tf with the keyboard dock rather than the 2 gtabs - its much better value imo with excellent connectivity...........the Samsungs have nothing really, hence the units estate slimness.

Thanks friends, Really appreciate your help
I think TF is the best choice
but regarding the size, many reviews abt tf on youtube, i see it's bigger than enough.
Is it really that big or it seems to be big ( i mean in realty, it's different from that on youtube )
I dont think its that big at all. Size wise its the same as every other 10" tablet out there(acer, ipad 1, sammy, knockoffs).
Weight though...It's a tad on the heavier side of this class. The "sturdiness" more than makes up for that though. Dropped this thing numerous times on the same floors where ive seen ipads crack and an acer a500 dent and i have one TIMY ding about the size of a pencil tip.
I was worried about the honeycomb lag compared to ipads but after root and a new rom(revolver). Happy as can be. This thing is around me more than my Evo 3D
get the TF. You wont be disappointed.
Why is it that everyone thinks their very obvious Q&A post should be considered General. Does it mean that they misunderstand the definition of the word question?
I understand that there can be a language gap as many users on XDA (especially this forum) are not native-English speakers. But the rules are the rules - they say "SEARCH BEFORE POSTING." Pretty clear!

hey guys i own a tf300 (great tablet and i love it to bits) but im thinking of an upgrade to the mighty tf700 but my question is could i back up all my apps and data with titanium back up and recover them on the tf700 ?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
I was able to restore all my apps from a Galaxy S II to the TF700 just fine, so you should be ok as well. Some app data might not be compatible however so unless you have to have your save data I'd suggest just restoring the apps and not the data to be safe.

I have been debating to get the TF700 for some time, I currently have a 2 yr old tablet from Viewsonic and it's on JB but runs slow. I have heard about Samsung creating a P10 tablet with a resolution closest to the iPad. My question is; is the screen resolution that noticable and how important do you feel it is in the purchase of a tablet? I am an android junkie but I like the latest hardware. Will there be any dual boot Android / Windows tablets from Asus? There are two reasons why I am thinking of Asus over Samsung:
1. Updates to the OS are quicker
2. Screen resolution is higher on Infinity over any other tablet right now (but will this change in Oct?)
Thanks for your input!
Sweet mate that's great news you made me a happy man lol

First the P10 sounds very nice but if you go by rumors you'll be playing the waiting game forever. I chose the infinity because it had all the features I was looking for now from a manufacturer that provides the speediest updates by keeping it stock compared to the others, one of the reasons why I chose this over samsung. The resolution is great, I read a lot of comics and webpages and everything looks much crisper on this screen, and the brightness alone is insane. I'm sure we'll have dual boot options in the future. I read somewhere that Tegra 3 would be compatible with W8 so there should be no reason why an unlocked Infinity couldn't boot it (another plus for the large upgradable memory options). I'd say go for it!
The infinity was a waiting game haha

The Samsung p10 will be a great tablet but the infinity will still be the best for watching movies. Also, I'm not too sure even the exynos can push 2560x1600. Expect not to do any 3d gaming on it.

It seems after a lot of lurking that the TF700T and TF700 are more or less the same device. I'd feel a lot better with a major poster here agreeing with that before continuing, though.
Can I use TF700 ROMs on a TF700T?
[*]Can I use TF700 kernels on a TF700T?
[*]Is there anywhere to be aware of where things aren't compatible?
Sorry in advance if this is a silly question, or one that's already been asked.

A TF700 device doesn't exist, if you see it mentioned it's 99% a TF700T (Tegra 3) and 1% the common name for both Infinity models. There is also a TF700KL (Krait), which is a very different and incompatible device.
