[Q] Problem Loading Booting Recovery kernel image - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i just installed Rom Manager and than i clicked on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery on the app and from that time on when i try to enter RCK
it stuck on Booting Recovery Kernel image.
Pls i need some help.

you are now bricked. Rom Manager is flashing the prime recovery, not the TF300.
If you are still able to use fastboot, try flashing TWRP with fastboot, cause CWM had many problems on TF300

I don't think its a brick situation but I agree with the previous suggestion, use a PC and flash twrp recovery using fastboot. See the Dev section for details, website data, and instructions.

I would get rid of ROM Manager IMO. Don't flash CWM with ROM Manager if you haven't done so.
Use this to get into recovery

Thanks for that, just asking is anybudy else having the problem that rom manager wont boot into recovery or a fix.....

I just installed it to see and it work for me.
Booted into recovery, I remember a few weeks back there was an update to RM
which made boot into recovery work.
Like Kadin stated, it's not much use for the TF right now IMO.

[BRICK WARNING] TWRP loop brick by wipe-data on JB firmware

Managed to brick up my tablet good, thought i'd describe the "symptoms" and what I was doing when it happened to prevent it happening again.
I was on:
Firmware: 10.4.4.16
Recovery: TWRP 2.2.2.0
Description:
I was attempting to get root, however TWRP does not work with the new firmware/bootloader version. I wanted to do a factory reset of my data, but TWRP would not let me. I booted into the bootloader menu (voldown + on) and selected data-wipe option. The tablet then rebooted into TWRP but nothing happened.
I have tried to reboot after this but it will not load Android, it just loops into TWRP recovery
I have tried to boot into fastboot, but It will not even load the bootloader menu, it just loops into TWRP recovery
I have tried to flash stock firmware using TWRP but it does not work because i'm running the crappy new firmware!
Anyone got any ideas? I think this one is for Asus :/
are you trying to flash ics or jb?
i would stick with jb at this point.
do you have any backups? one guy said he was able to restore cm10 with twrp.
and if you don't have a backup you can restore, you can always wait for the next version of twrp to be released and try flashing that first. you still have options!
did you activate NVFLASH? please tell me you did!
you can always jump back to the .26 stock bootloader (or TWRP/CWM if you had one of those installed at the time)
there is an unofficial 6.0.1.4 version of CWM Recovery posted and I used that no problem with Official JB to re-root after the update.
you do need fastboot access to install it though, so without NVFLASH and the ability to downgrade your bootloader... um... yeah, you're kinda borked. sorry.
No backups.. :/

Yeah hopefully they will release a flash able version... if only I could revert to the stock recovery through twrp

Boot into fastboot and try flashing the unofficial cwm recovery! If you have recovery, you should absolutely have fastboot. I would really recommend that you try to stay away from the official recovery since it isn't quite as "feature rich" as cwm/twrp... Good luck, have fun!

Edit. Woah, reading failure... are you completely sure you're doing it right? The new jb boot loader menu is different. You don't wait for a secondary menu, you just vol-down to select the USB icon then vol-up
Make that two. Same as you, tried to get root, wiped data, BRICK. Get TWRP each time, every time unless I hold VOL UP which of course goes to APX mode.
No fastboot, can't flash ROMs, tried the whole "dd if=/sdcard/blob /dev/block/mmcblk0p4" thing and it reboots the tablet automatically. Flashing a ROM gives "E:cannot mount /data".
"ls /dev/block" command from adb shell only shows /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 and /dev/block/loop0-9.
Bricked and bricked good!
Bugger. I'll give it a week then rma, I've still got adb through twrp..

ok do this, boot into TWRP, adb push my CWM recovery, dd if=cwm-recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9, it should flash the CWM Recovery, or you can do it using via fastboot as well. Then flash the .30 zip, remember now .26, but only .30, wipe data, wipe cache, reboot

And... back to TWRP. Is there some other version? The recovery I downloaded was called recovery.img not cwm-recovery.img

DId the dd command complete correctly?
Also try this:
1) download .30 blob from asus website
2) unzip it twice till you have a blob file
3) adb it to device
4) dd if=blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
5) reboot and wait for the flash to complete.

Yes it completed.
The blob reboots the tablet 5 seconds after the dd command is entered.

I could provide you a flashable zip with the stock recovery, send me a PM if you are interested.
I've been having similar issues after installing JB woith recovery. I wanted to wipe data but glad I wasn't able to after reading this thread. I don't understand how some people have managed to upgrade and still seem to have full access to twrp
My understanding is that TWRP is *not* compatible with Jelly Bean! It may install, but it doesn't work right. Stay away....
I have been unable to get the "unofficial" CWM recovery installed at all - everything looks like it works during the install, but I still get the stock recovery. Strange...

Sure I'd give that a go. If anyone wants to go through the trouble of a clean install TWRP backup I'll try that too.

TF101 reboots automatically and returns to CWM, can only start with coldboot!

Strange situation, after some time my TF101 reboots itself and it returns to Clockwordmod recovery.
I installed an app that I read here somewhere to lock that it doesn't reset itself but it still does...
This evening i'll try to flash another rom, would this solve it?
Anyone knows the link to CWM touch recovery zipfile ?
Thanks!

Install twrp 2.2.x... either you can download or push it using easy flash through nvflash... in any case install a recovery, wipe everything (factory rest) including internal memory, data, dalvik.. do a complete reinstallation of you preferred ROM... good luck

Problems flashing custom recovery

I have a strange problem. A while ago I successfully unlocked my infinity. That was before the jb update. I also successfully flashed custom recoveries and several roms. Didn't ran into any problems. When the official jb update came out, I restored original recovery and flashed a stock ics Rom, and after that successfully applied the jb update. The second update .30 also went smooth. I used the update file from Asus servers. Now I want to flash a custom recovery again in order to flash cleanrom. In adb I see my device and I can reboot with fastboot and stuff. So I think my drivers are ok. However as soon as I start to flash recovery.img it just says sending recovery and that's it. It just hangs there. Nothing happens. I tried everything, from changing usb ports and uninstalling drivers... It just can't send the recovery img. I use Scott's script to flash the recovery.blob. any ideas?

I can't use it because it needs root, and as long as I don't have a custom recovery I'm unable to root my stock jellybean Rom. Or is there already another way to root?

Are you saying you can not get TWRP or CWM installed ? or are you saying you do have one installed but no root ?
If it is the latter then can't you just flash a custom rom that has root built in ( like Baked ) then go back to twrp and now with root you can wipe and flash stock. ? I am sorry if I am miss understanding your question. But at least you get a free 'bump'

Thats correct, i am trying to get custom recovery, after that root is no problem.
Edit: i just installed a clean windows 8 installation. So no old drivers left behind or other weird stuff. I put my transformer in fastboot mode, driver is automatically installed, i see it under device manager. Stillno luck.... it hangs saying sending recovery.... no error messages. My previous attempt was under win7.

Glenner, did you make sure you have the img file in the same folder as you fastboot/adb command files?
If it says "sending recovery", I'd assume that it found the local file.
I don't use Windows, but I always read about driver issues in Windows. Maybe the auto-installed driver is wrong? Does "fastboot devices" return question marks or nothing?
i'm happy to report that finally it worked! seemed something strange with drivers/USB ports after all. Despite i already changed USB ports under my win 7 installation, i tried it again under win8, and suddenly it worked. I didn't reinstall the drivers or something, all went automatically. So the strange issues are driver issues for sure. Anyway, currently happy running cleanrom 2.3
thanks for all your suggestions and thinking along.....

Can't get root working.

Usually am pretty good at this stuff but just got this device and can't figure out what I'm missing.
The drivers seem to be working okay, the bootloader says its unlocked, I am on stock JB which I am going to the right forums for.. Just can't get into recovery. I use power and down volume and then up volume and I just get the error Android. Let me know if anyone has suggestions or what I am missing please.
First off you should have posted this in the Q&A section, not Development.
Anyway, have you flashed any recovery? Or have you just unlocked the device?
Look here for installing recovery
Hope that helps :fingers-crossed:
What recovery did you install? Do you have a custom recovery? The native recovery expects its files in a specific directory and will throw an error ("dead Andy") if there are none there. Can you get the 70 to connect by USB, and detected?
In order to flash anything, you must install a custom recovery. You cannot use the stock recovery as it will only flash stock roms. You can either use ClockworkMod or TWRP. To flash it onto your tf700 you must use fastboot which is not hard if you find a detailed guide.

Apparently you never installed a custom recovery. How did you try to install it? With fastboot?

Yes I used Scott's tf700t recovery install tool.
Moved to correct board ..
Are you actually unlocked? You are still on the stock recovery if you see a dead android.
Try this if you are unlocked
