Problems flashing custom recovery - Asus Transformer TF700

I have a strange problem. A while ago I successfully unlocked my infinity. That was before the jb update. I also successfully flashed custom recoveries and several roms. Didn't ran into any problems. When the official jb update came out, I restored original recovery and flashed a stock ics Rom, and after that successfully applied the jb update. The second update .30 also went smooth. I used the update file from Asus servers. Now I want to flash a custom recovery again in order to flash cleanrom. In adb I see my device and I can reboot with fastboot and stuff. So I think my drivers are ok. However as soon as I start to flash recovery.img it just says sending recovery and that's it. It just hangs there. Nothing happens. I tried everything, from changing usb ports and uninstalling drivers... It just can't send the recovery img. I use Scott's script to flash the recovery.blob. any ideas?

I can't use it because it needs root, and as long as I don't have a custom recovery I'm unable to root my stock jellybean Rom. Or is there already another way to root?

Are you saying you can not get TWRP or CWM installed ? or are you saying you do have one installed but no root ?
If it is the latter then can't you just flash a custom rom that has root built in ( like Baked ) then go back to twrp and now with root you can wipe and flash stock. ? I am sorry if I am miss understanding your question. But at least you get a free 'bump'

Thats correct, i am trying to get custom recovery, after that root is no problem.
Edit: i just installed a clean windows 8 installation. So no old drivers left behind or other weird stuff. I put my transformer in fastboot mode, driver is automatically installed, i see it under device manager. Stillno luck.... it hangs saying sending recovery.... no error messages. My previous attempt was under win7.

Glenner, did you make sure you have the img file in the same folder as you fastboot/adb command files?

If it says "sending recovery", I'd assume that it found the local file.
I don't use Windows, but I always read about driver issues in Windows. Maybe the auto-installed driver is wrong? Does "fastboot devices" return question marks or nothing?

i'm happy to report that finally it worked! seemed something strange with drivers/USB ports after all. Despite i already changed USB ports under my win 7 installation, i tried it again under win8, and suddenly it worked. I didn't reinstall the drivers or something, all went automatically. So the strange issues are driver issues for sure. Anyway, currently happy running cleanrom 2.3
thanks for all your suggestions and thinking along.....

[Q]recovery flash and nexus s driver issue

Hi
A couple of days ago I tried to flash the newer version of ClockWorkMod recovery (from v3.0.2.4 to 5.0.2.0) via ROM Manager, it seemed to install properly but when I tried to enter the recovery it sent me to the BOOTLOADER and there was written that I have no boot or recovery image installed, when I try to install the CWM manually via ADB it cant recognize my Nexus S when I'm in the bootloader (I re-installed the drivers but it didn't help) but when the phone is on I have access to the phone via ADB but I cant flash the CWM.
I tried the next commands:
adb shell
SU
flash_image recovery /sdcard/filename.img
and it showed me allot of memory errors.
Does anyone can help me?

thanx, I tried it but it also didn't work
same problem here noob in nexus s please help
After I sent my NEXUS to a lab it works OK with the recovery they say that they don't know what this issue was but after the changed the rom to stock every thing worked OK
I am also suffering from the same issue, I think itnis caused by only a certain amount of memory being aloted for a recovery image as the newer version is a bit larger, anyone know how to fix this?

in the lab they said that they pushed stock rom via some linux script they have to the nexus and after that they flashed recovery but I think that you can find how to do this in this forum (going back to stock) and to root it again and then you can flash recovery
I'm going thru the same thing after flashing ics rom. Now I had to downgrade to 3.0.0.1 in order ffor my recovery to work.....I even tried flashing each recovery one by one until I was on. 5.2
But its the same issue. No recovery unless I downgrade. Also none of my back ups are recognized.....

Manual flashing

Question please.
I am looking to root and flash my tf101. I have been doing a lot of reading /searching but I am still curious.
Are you not simply able to nvflash cwm then use cwn to install su.zip as well as whatever rom you like?
My preference is to avoid any toolkit as much as possible [personal preference].
If i missed something please let me know.

You need to download easy flash software and universal naked driver to use nvflash... once you have them rooting and installing CWM is just few mouse clicks away.... once you have cwm you can install any tf101 ROM you want... just remember do not install cwm 5.x.x.x as it reads only internal memory n not external MMC.. also please back up your existing OS with "back and recovery" option which is available in CWM... good luck

I did as you instructed above, it seemed to work fine.
Loaded the naked drivers [0.7] and ran easy flash from a windowx xp machine. tried to load TWRP 2.2.1. Easyflasher says it flashed, the screen says the update was successful, but it basically just seems to have corrupted the recovery [android with red exclamation mark above].
I have a B60 TF101, running 9.2.1.27, unrooted ATM.
Am I missing something as to why this did not work?

Android with red ! is your stock recovery. Try flashing TWRP via Goo Manager.
Get it from Play Store, open Goo manager, Menu (3 dots) and chose Install "OpenRecoveryScript"

asus tf300 unlocked bootloader with jb. how to downgrade to ics?

already rooted. is there a step by step to downgrade to ics. really miss my flash player. can't get it to work on jb.
There is not a way to downgrade at the moment if you are running the OTA JB.
Btw flash can still work with JB using the stock browser. Here's a copy of the recent flash player if you need it

I would think to truly do this, you would need to flash the bootloader, system, and recovery all at the same time so everything is in sync with ICS, just not worth it.

Well, can't we just download the latest ICS factory image from Asus? Or would the bootloader prevent us from even using the factory ICS image?

When I was locked, I tried to take the zip and put it in internal storage. It installed the downgrade as it called it, but when done, I was still on jb. I would think if you're on jb and force flashed the ICS blob it would possibly brick the device because jb has different permissions and from what I've read a different partition table all together.

I don't believe it has a different partition table but even if it did, asus blobs include the partition table in every update so that wouldn't be an issue, the issue however is that you cannot download the bootloader, the bootloader is now signed seperately to the rest of the update to prevent abuse like what we did with the tf201 to obtain nvflash access. When you unlock the bootloader signature remains enabled while the blob flashing signature check is disabled. This has a side effect of preventing downgrades as the bootloaders pre-JB do not have this same signing mechanism in place.

I actually attempted to downgrade last night. Quite frankly, I think that I came close o a few soft bricks. I tried flashing a custom ICS rom...no go. I tried loading the firmware from the Asus website to the root of the SD card and restart...no go. I tried force flashing the firmware using recovery mode, and it completed "successfully." When I rebooted...no go...and no ROM. This is when I started getting worried, because when I tried to boot into recovery, I received a red error message saying that there was a mismatch. I hard rebooted again, and booted into recovery, and reflashed my JB Rom. I did everything BUT use fastboot to load an ICS recovery image. I didn't want to take that risk.
My suggestion....leave it alone. I am leaving it to the experts. And if you are not an expert, then LEAVE IT TO THEM TOO!

Good suggestion haha - now I have been reading about nvflash being usable for the tf300, but only if you were on the ICS bootloader, wondering if you can do an nvflash type backup - don't know much about it - but after backup, upgrade to jb, then use backup to return to ICS...

I tried every method out there to get back to ICS. So there is no way. Tried fastboot, tried adb, tried wolfs downgrade method, tried restoring a backup with CWM and TWRP and many more. So unfortunately there is no way, but Scotts and Seanz Roms were the best Roms on ICS, so I think I dont have to, cause I have the best Roms to choose.
Only thing missing is NVflash and OC (its been working on )
Have you tried erasing everything

I recently just restored my bricked Tf300 by using these commands from fastboot thanks to user Buster99
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase misc
fastboot erase cache
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system c:\adt-bundle\platform-tools\blob (this is my path - your's may vary depending where you stored your blob)
fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot
this completely erased my system, fixed my bootloo and brought it back to stock. Can there be a way to erase the bootloader this way???

[Q] TF101 can't mount internal sdcard

I tried to unbrick my tablet using pretty easy recovery installer, and now my TF101 won't detect it's own sdcard. I tried factory resetting, flashing a new ROM, even tried restoring an old backup. Nothing works. The strange thing is, it was working fine before on those same roms. It wasn't until I managed to run the full exploit that that happened. Please, help... I hate this thing... I just want to wipe it so I can sell this thing! Can anybody tell me how ti fix this thing?!

Can't Flash CROM 4.1 please help!

I am having problems flashing Clean Inheritance Rom 4.1 and I believe my TWRP 2.4.4.0 may be the problem because it seems corrupted.
I followed the instructions on this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982
So far I have been able to flash the patched twrp 2.4.4.0 and install the Asus stock 4.2.1 but every time I try to flash CROM 4.1 twrp will initiate updating partition and then it will just restart w/o warning to its home screen. I think that my twrp may be corrupted but i have used fastboot to repush the twrp multiple times and the asus stock 4.2.1 multiple times but this is not solving my issue. I see that fastboot has a erase command and wanted to know if i would use that to erase the recovery img completely and then try flashing twrp again to see if this resolves the issue or will the erase command brick my device? Also do I need to have my stock kernel for the CROM 4.1 to work? I am attaching screenshot of my tablet info, please let me know if more info is needed or if i need to upload a video of what is going on thanks.
have you redownloaded twrp mate it might have been a dodgy download or maybe a bad download of cromi, or you could try installing cromi 4.0 first

Update! bump please help someone
I am still having issues installing clean rom 4.1 but I noticed that if I keep selecting to flash the CROM 4.1 or 4.0 rom it will eventually initiate and let me choose the options and actually start flashing but once it says it is complete and i reboot it does not boot CROM just gets stuck at the asus boot screen. Then i must use fastboot to flash the stock android 4.2.1 to get the thing up and running and then twrp pretty much breaks after i use fastboot to flash teh android 4.2.1 blob file so I have to reflash the patched 2.4.4.0 again. I really do think the problem is with twrp because ever since this new 2.4.4.0 update i have been having issues i remember before twrp was a great utility but now it seems like it is a nightmare is there a way from me to try flashing crom 4.1 with clockwork mod yet?

I was able to flash SuperSU as well
I was able to flash SuperSU and it was confirmed rooted with root checker. I still don't know why CleanROM will not work I have downloaded the ROM multiple times but it just refuses to flash is there something else I need to check in order to flash the rom or is TWRP partially broken where it can only flash very small simple files but not a complete custom rom?
I just downloaded the energy rom and tried to flash it do my device and ended up having the same issue. It says the rom has been flashed and completes but after reboot it is just stuck on Asus bootscreen and never boots into the OS. What the hell is going on
I think my bootloader is somehow screwed up because it can't boot any custom roms it can only boot the asus stock 4.2.1 when i flash the blob file using fastboot. Did i miss a step or something to allow the bootloader to boot custom roms
