[Q] com.phone.android has stopped. Device unusable - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hey guys...today i put the factory ATT ICS from sammobile on my device via Odin. Now, about every 2-5 seconds I get the com.phone.android crash message. I've looked at about 50 or so different threads and can't seem to find a resolution.
I've factory reset, I've reflashed, I've cleared cache data in phone, I've cleared cache data in contacts storage. On the verge of phone smash.
Any ideas?

Try reverting to stock via kies? it sounds like you have a bad flash maybe due to the file. In stock you shouldn't have these issues.

THanks for the quick reply. Actually I just went into boot/recovery mode (not sure of correct name) and cleared cache a few times and did another full wipe and problem solved. Must have been some strange conflict...

Try fixing permissions if it happens again. That will usually fix FCs without a full wipe (although phone process FCs tend to be a little trickier to get rid of).

Not sure if you tried first time around but I always wipe things a minimum of 3X (usually 4-7 -- call me paranoid).
I'm glad you fixed the issue; I haven't seen/heard this one before.

[Q] Does anyone want to help me out yet? -_-

Okay, I'm basically going to just copy and paste my issue and edits here from the Zeus thread I couldn't get any help on. The edits are so anyone who actually read this can see what I did and have been doing so they don't suggest something I already did.
So the other day, I tried to flash to the Doctorz ROM and of course, made a Nandroid backup. After messing with Doctorz, I went back to Nandroid or clockwork recovery (whatever it is) and after restoring, I was on another modem and stock kernel. I tried to reflash Zeus and wiped partitions cache and dalvik cache and now I'm having serious issues. I have my SIM card in my phone, but it keeps telling me I don't even though it's there. Even weirder, I have one or two bars even after I pull out the SIM card. Earlier, it was detecting that I had a SIM card, but said "Invalid SIM card" or something and now whether it's there or not, my phone says it has one or two bars even though I can't do anything. What's going on??
I've tried rebooting several times and activated Wifi and airplane mode, but had no luck. SIM card's in right now, but my phone says no service.
EDIT: Forget it. I just did a factory restore and wiped everything and reflashed Zeus.
EDIT 2: Okay now I'm having other issues. My phone recognizes my SIM card again and now I'm getting my normal signal, but I can't do anything wirelessly, like send a text or use up data. It SAYS I have signal and am connected to the HSPA+ network and the arrows are flashing and whatnot, but I can't do anything wireless. I can't go into the market, send a text or use the internet browser. Someone please help?
EDIT 3: Okay, I was wrong on that last part. My texts weren't going through because of bad signal, but I definitely have no data AT ALL. All I have are a few bars, but nothing about 3g/EDGE/HSPA+. I think this is an issue with APN settings?
EDIT 4: Messed with some APN settings... kinda back to square one, where the H+ shows up and I get Edge sometimes (I have bad signal where I'm at) and the arrows are flashing, but NOTHING. I still can't use the market or any data at all.
EDIT 5: I just decided I'd try to be next to my router and turned on Wifi... my phone would not pick up a signal from my router at all, and it works just fine. I'm starting to think this is a modem-related issue...
EDIT 6: Okay, I kinda fixed the problem, but my data speeds are SUPER SLOW and sending one message takes a really long time. I know I have bad signal, but it's never been this slow, even when I manage to pull up two or three bars. I tried messing with build.prop, but as I'm on Zeus, the settings were already fixed up.
EDIT 7: Okay, the Wifi issue was because I used the wrong WEP key. Oops. After I managed to connect though, I couldn't get any data. My phone just doesn't want to use up any data apparently? I reflashed the modem Zeus normally uses and now if I manage to get some data, it's unbelievably slow and can't use Wifi data.
EDIT 8: I forgot to mention that if I don't get to connect somewhere with data, my phone will just tell me there's no data connection or whatever even though I have two bars. I tried to fix permissions and rebooted, but no luck.
Someone please help. This is really annoying.

Damn! That's a lot of edits. Odin back to stock, and start from scratch. But remember to do a factory reset from Phone, go to settings, Privacy and erase everything. that will clean up everything that you have there.
That's the only option I see will fix all your problems

Yeah, that's all I could come up with. Thanks anyway. I did that a few minutes ago and flashed Zeus. I'm just waiting for my phone to load up. I tried to let it load up, but it kept saying not enough data on the partition or something. I probably shouldn't have tried to flash Zeus immediately after flashing back to stock. After I went to CWM from flashing to stock, I immediately tried to flash to Zeus, but had issues. I'll take the blame for trying to rush and take shortcuts. I'll see how this goes again though.
Okay, after flashing back to stock with Odin, my phone loads up and does the "Rethink possible" thing when you turn it on and after that, nothing happens. The screen just stays off. If I press the power button, nothing happens, but if I hold it, it just reboots and goes back off. This is just annoying...
EDIT: Okay, it worked the second time. I have no idea why as I did nothing different, but it works. Now I'm gonna try to flash Zeus again.

Faint,
I got lost trying to understand what you were trying to ask.
Gtg unbrick is prob the best option.
It's usually best to describe the system, setup, the bug and the attempt.
Then pose the bottom line question.

Well what I was asking originally was how I can fix the problem I was having, but flashing back to stock via Odin helped. Now I'm having ANOTHER issue... after FINALLY having fixed up everything, I tried to restore some stuff with Tibu, but then my phone started saying a bunch of processes were force closing or something, so I tried to reboot and now I think I'm bootlooping. I'm stuck at the "The Collective" thing that shows up when you boot up your phone and it doesn't do anything. It'll go and do what it normaly does, go black and start up again, then come to a complete stop and repeat the process. I then went to CWM and tried to wipe factory settings, cache and dalvik cache, but I'm still having this issue. Geez, it's one problem after another, and all I wanted to do was restore my apps. On the bright side, I DO KNOW flashing from Odin helped because once I regained control of my phone at the way it should be normally, I had my normal data speeds and didn't have issues with data. I'm going to try to fix this bootlooping issue now. :|
EDIT: Escaped the bootloop(?). Thank God... I honestly thought I'd have to flash back to stock with ODIN AGAIN and then redo everything.
Hey, so another question... before I flashed to stock and everything, I backed up all of my apps with TiBU, but now I can't find them; the restore file(s?) so I can get all of my apps and their data back. Was it saved to the internal SD card? Because I formatted that after backing up...
EDIT: Never mind. I looked around my SD card and... ugh. All my apps are gone and so are my backup files for the apps. Great. Thanks anyway, you two.

If you did a factory reset from within the phone, it will erase everything...
After you odin or heimdall a stock package, and flash a new ROM, don't restore tibu or apps. Download new.
Occasionally they get corrupted and cause you phone to soft boot

One more thing to add on to the TiBu thing, when you restored your apps what option did you use? If your restoring the batch options only select "missing apps with data.". Any other option and you run the risk of getting constant FC's.

I have found this to be the best for me also, new ROM...fresh install of all apps...so easy when you have the apk's, I just put them in a folder, then to my sd and install away and if I need to update I look that app via the market and update that way, or via the desktop pc thru the market online.
I found this site very useful has all my apps I need/require:

^Yeah I didn't use that option because it had a zero and didn't let me do anything, so I tried another option. I can't remember which one, but yeah I did get constant FC's.

Yeah, it seems that's the best way to go. Even though I backed it up with CWM, I didn't expect it to not backup the kernel and modem. I realized the kernel part a lot sooner, but after having a lot of texts that didn't go through the way they normally would, I thought it was an issue with my phone and then I decided I'd check the modem and found out I didn't have the KL2 modem I'd normally have.

Well I already had everything figured out by the time everyone said something, but I appreciate the effort and tips nonetheless.

skyrocket keeps rebooting every 1 or 2 minutes

I have a strange issue with my samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket AT&T, it keeps on rebooting every one or two minutes, by itself.
I have been busy with this for two days without success, I tried the following:
- unstalling apps: not working, after any reboot (automatic or manual) the apps reappear again.
- using Odin to install another rom. Not working, even after a green success signal in Odin, the phone reboots and nothing has changed. All (many) apps that I installed still are present, the same settings etc, everything is the same. I tried to install different ROMS with Odin, without any effect.
- deleting all folders and files when the phone is plugged in the pc,...after phone reboot all folders and files re-appear again, nothing changed.
Assistance with this issue is very welcome.
Thank you
I've seen this issue before with it rebooting because of a stuck power button. Not sure if that would be the culprit in your situation or not. Especially with folders re-appearing and what not.
sounds like the same as this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751338
possible fix Using loop devices to workaround corrupt eMMC partitions
Had the issue before. Never pinpointed the exact cause, but I moved all my pics/music/crap I wanted to keep to my external and went ape chyt on wiping. Formatted internal via the comp, then went into mounts & wiped everything! Fresh install & only reinstalled apps (no data) with titanium. Been smooth sailing since.

The workaround in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704646 is too complicated for me. I'm not a programmer, just a regular user that knows how to use Odin and install a custom ROM, but that's it. I guess I have to return it under warranty by AT&T
Although I would like to erase everything (i got a backup). At the moment all data, apps, email and phone numbers are visible when booting up (at least for 1 or two minutes before it reboots by itself) and I don't like them at ATT checking that out.

I tried to brick it without success yet.
Odin repartitioning gives this message:
"Can't open the specified file. (Line: 1876)"
and give a FAIL
Factory reset has not effect whatsoever, all stays the same. By the way, gives this message
Error mounting /sdcard/ .android_sercure!
Any other bricking methods/tips are welcome
Thanks

try mount the sdcard, flash a tar file from another phone or a zip file from another phone like the i777, i know that it didnt write to the nand before but you never know. or learn how to use adb, maybe it can delete stuff, but i never used it so cant help u there.
u can also try to short out the usb port by touch wires inside the port as it may fry something up in the phone so it cant turn on
If you installed an app that seems chair than what it should be worth or from a random website, you could have a virus...first try uninstalling the culprit, if not, you may need to do a factory rest

I've gone through all that, factory reset, uninstalling apps etc..nothing works since after the auto reboot all changes appear to have no effect. I.e. new pictures taken are not stored after the reboot. I'm stuck with all settings and files of one particular time a week ago, that keeps on reappearing. As far as I understand this is a corrupt partition issue. But thanks for replying anyway..this issue doesn't seem to happen very often.

I have not seen any other users with the same issue. It seems very possible that something went wrong during the install. First of all, verify the MD5SUM of the ROM you downloaded to make sure it is not corrupt. If it is, redownload it, then wipe and reflash.
Did you wipe data & system before installing the ROM? While you do not need to wipe the sdcard portion of data, everything else needs to wiped when changing ROMS or major Android versions. Make sure you did this, if not try reflashing after a proper wipe.
Have you flashed anything else after the wipe, such as a kernel? If so try wiping then reflashing the ROM without anything extra.

While you might not have seen an error message, something could have still gone wrong. As a programmer myself, I can attest that it is impossible to detect every error. A zany example: solar flares can cause errors, corrupt data, and even crash applications in spectacular ways.
Definitely start with the MD5 check as that is a fairly common issue. Just today I had one fail to match up. If it matches, reflash, if not redownload then reflash.

[Q] Is my Galaxy Tap2 Bricked? Keep rebooting.....

Hi bro, i need some help here, suddenly my GT2 (GSM) will auto reboot after every 15-60 minute. It was running fine for the past 10 month since have install cyanogenmod cm-10.1.3.
The weird part is, not only it reboot, it will do a rollback to a fix setting every time it reboot.
- Let say, as a normal you have many application install, many photo or file in your phone
How it happen, as a normal user, I went to uninstall any application via application manager or Delete some photo from my gallery. It show success deleted..... but soon after few minute my phone rebooted by itself. After this reboot i notice what i just delete/remove come back again. Seems like there is a restore being done.
I also try to reset to setting using phone manager, and it fail
I try to boot in to recover mode, such as
clear data/factory reset
clear cache
go to advanced>wipr dalvic
Install cyanogenmod cm-10.1.3, cyanogenmod cm-10.1.2 or even cyanogenmod cm-10.1.1
I have try clear data/factory reset, clear cache, go to advanced>wipr dalvic
or any other combine setting i can think of.... it fail too
once i reboot my phone, it still went back to this Fix Setting, every thing just come back.....
even i select install new OS
Any ideas what happen?
Thanks

Yes, it look simular to my issue, can you help PM me the step, so that will give it a try. Now i just been force to bought a new smart phone as my current not working.
Read about these issues from various thread, this is happened due to broken emmc. The only step will have to replace it.
If someone can developed a kernel to prevent this issue which is happen to omap4 device
Unfortunately most kernel, maybe all current kernel, did not apply this.

So this is due to broken emmc, and i need to ask someone to replace it at some cost
is there a way to check the issue is emmc or just some software/firmware/rom issue
Till now, my phone still stay the same, it will reboot after sometime. I even try to flash it with other ROMS and even update my phone with the latest CWM or PhilZ, i even get the message of update success/status ok. But after a reboot, my phone still went back/revert to that same "OLD" setting with every thing still there. Restore to factory still fail, look like my phone is as good as a brick phone...
Anyone know of a way to resolve it?

com.android.phone has stopped; how to deal with this?

Hi everybody,
2 day ago, I got an error message on my Opo: "com.android.phone has stopped" and ever since it has been popping up every minute or so, or sometimes every 10 seconds when I'm on my phone. The most annoying thing is that sometimes when I get that error message I also loose my network, so I can't make any phonecalls/use my 3G.
I was looking at the Crash Report and I saw this message:
"[crash] com.android.mms.service threw java.lang.NullPointerException"
I remember the first time this error happened was when I was writing a message and suddenly the interface was stuttering and everything was going very slow. Rebooted and then I started getting those errors
I followed some instructions found here, on Opo forums and on android central:
1) go to apps and clear the cache/data from phone, sim-toolkit, messaging and messaging service and reboot
2) perform a soft reset (via the phone)
3) perform a hard reset (factory reset via the recovery menu)
4) install custom recovery, enable root and reflash the rom
None of these solved the problem. But I also don't have the feeling that a hard reset
Moreover, after a reset, I still see folders from apps I had before the reset. Including pictures in my picture folder that I had downloaded prior to the factory reset. This doesn't seem like a factory reset to me, is there any way to wipe everything clean?

This is the log of the error report that I get:

When I had the error my settings were:
ROM: Cyanogen 12.0-YNG1TAS0YL
Kernel: 3.4.67-cyanogenmod-g1cbb9b0 build04cyanogenmod #1
No custom recovery
I've trying to fix the error, installing custom recovery, enabling root mode and reflashing the official cyanongen 12 rom. Still the problem persisted.

You forgot to provide details (ROM, Kernel, recovery, mods, etc.)
java.lang.NullPointerException usually means that the code calls for some value and it is not available.

Sorry, I added details in the initial post under "edit2". In short, I started having the error with the Stock rom/recovery. Didn't fiddle with anything. Out of frustration I decided to install twrp, enable root and reflash the rom. Didn't work, problem happened again as soon as I booted up my phone. I feel it has to do something with the sim-toolkit? As soon as it access the network it starting to nuke the error, then loses network, then regains network, especially when I'm trying to write a message. In airplane mode it doesn't happen.

Any way I can fix this from within twrp? How do I figure out what is exactly corrupted?

Trial and error. The easiest way is to wipe your device clean (system, cache, dalvik and data - storage not needed) and flash the ROM again. Also try to flash the latest available.

Didn't work. Still get nuked by the error. I decided to flash OxygenOS (after system, cache, dalvik and data wipe). Now I don't have the error anymore, luckily.
But I still have problems with texting. I can receive texts from friends, but not from my girlfriend who has an iPhone. She can receive my texts and my MMS, but I don't receive anything from her. The problem is partly solved, but not completely. I feel it's still somewhat related to the original problem.
