Jelly Bean officially slated for Galaxy S II LTE - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/24/3381542/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-android-jelly-bean-update-device-list
Looks like our phones will be getting Jelly Bean from Samsung, after all, or at least the international variant will. I can't imagine Skyrocket won't now unless AT&T puts a roadblock in place. Either way, I'm sure having access to an official version (from any region) will help improve the quality of JB development on our phone.

Probably should have put this in the jb discussion thread.
But, that does look like the international version and I'm not sure that'd help our phone.

Hopefully we will start seeing some leaked builds soon

Let's keep JB discussion in the designated thread. Awesome news though!

Jelly Bean 4.1 Download (Not usable for flashing, can devs look inside for clues?)

http://android.clients.google.com/p....signed-takju-JRN84D-from-IMM30D.5a07884d.zip
SO there is the link ^ for jelly bean, but it only works for "takju" devices that Google gave out at I/O, so this update is for the GSM Nexuses that were given to developers. I was wondering if any developer can use this and mod it for possible use and flashing with our One X's? Just wondering. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I think we need source code before we do any major porting. Correct me if im wrong

I think we need some more announcements posted on the forums. Obviously we all live under a rock and need to be reminded of its release every 10 minutes with a new thread.

ICS for Galaxy 2

Noticed that ICS is now ready for download for T-Mobile Galaxy 2, praying for a port to galaxy blaze, anyone going to try and port it?? If not, any opinions on best custom rom and tweaks would be welcome!!

LOL, another thread for ICS on the blaze? I believe this has been covered a number of times now.
Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand it is possible to port ICS over from another phone however that requires creating a kernel from scratch. Doing so is extremely time-consuming and difficult and there's no point for a dev to work on that when we're slated to get an official release on our phone in the (hopefully) near future.

This type of comment/question doesn't belong here in the "Android Development" section. Please use the General section for this. Also please familiarize yourself with the 'search' feature. As someone else stated there are like half a dozen threads about this already. Also please read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699450
I would also ask our community to NOT respond to these posts when they are in the wrong section. If someone can't read or help themselves by searching and learning from what is already posted here their question doesn't deserve a response. Not trying to be rude here, but seriously there has been 2 of these kinds of posts in the dev section in the last month.
Then don't be rude.

Cyanogen will likely get something similar shorty with many devices being 4.7+ new features will start to rise.
It's rumored for 4.1.2 not 4.2.1 just fyi. And if so that means VzW would send it out to us in 2014 lol.

What they said.
OP, retitle this because you misread the article. You meant "4.1.2" but titled this "4.2.1" which is entirely different than the article you linked.

there are many ROMS alraedy running 4.1.2, check out the development section.
I thought multi window was a touchwiz feature, not an android feature.
Look out for the next jellywiz release. I thought I read he was trying to implement this feature to his ROM.

[Q] Original Development vs Android Development?

Hi everyone - This is probably a simple question but I couldn't seem to find the answer in the forums. I notice a section for "Original Development for Galaxy S III" and one for "Android Development for Galaxy S III". Just wondering what the difference is... Looking for a good smooth ROM for my new phone... Thanks!
The only difference I noticed in other device forums also is the original development usually has the older stuff and the other has the newer stuff it'd that helps...I Ann running cm10 from the original development section but I also recommend Galaxy Mod Rom also it has some some things I have never ever seen before and if you flash as much as I do them you will see what I mean just doing the install of that room....it blew me away but no am stuck on cm10 I have been a cyanogenmod guy since my og droid 1 lol

Original development is essentially work done from the ground up. General development would be modifying pre developed programming based on androids open source theorem.

[Q] When is CM10.1 Android 4.2 coming to the HTC One S?

I have seen a lot of videos and post of Android 4.2 being attached to CM10.1 for the I9000/I9000G and other devices. I keep checking 5 times religiously for it but I am only noticing incremental updates and bug fixes for Android 4.1.2 roms.
I know the developers are working very hard but if anyone can relate, it's not fair to us HTC One S users who keep flashing different 4.1.2 roms with 4.2 add ons as it's not the same as an original 4.2 rom.
Since I rooted my HTC One S (s4), I have been flashing various 4.1.2 roms such as: AOKP Milestone 1 / UnofficialAOKP14Nov12, CM10, JB PACman rom, Blackbean 6, Dark Jelly S etc.
Developers, we need 4.2 roms please.

Here, here! You lazy developers... you should be ashamed. It's not fair.
Yep I fully agree. No more development on 4.1.2, start 4.2 roms.

4.2 is supposedly the most bug ridden release yet. It'll get here soon, and all we're missing is the new notifications and lock screen widgets. No big deal really.

4.2.1 has been released, which improves on most bugs that were introduced in 4.2
But I agree that we're not missing out on much.

Wow. I guess it's true - some people really don't understand irony.
I tried to get it started the other week but repo and build kept messing up due to various issues. This seems like a completely useless topic and should be closed!!

Concur--Close Thread--there is a JB Speculation thread already
Follow them on CyanogenMod/Twitter or whatever
I doubt if Steve or any other team member is going to reply here
I've now sold my One S as it seems their is no future development for it. I'm now running CM10.1 Android 4.2.1 for Samsung Galaxy S I9000.

Will do. I am concerned about HTC devices though as newer AOSP source codes haven't been exported to create a rom yet, which brings me to a question if their is something wrong with HTC devices like the One S. When the HTC One devices got released, they were released as a group so they should get updates at the same time right? Wrong, HTC One X got Jelly Bean 4.1.1 first and its brother the One S has been left out. Is it hardware related? Who knows? I think this subject should be announced by XDA administrators
