hello!
first of all, plese let me say that i read the wiki 10 times.
i also read hundreds of pages in the custom WM6 threads, but i still don't understand something.
i as far as i can see, there are 2 ways of upgrading the ROM.
1. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_ROM_Upgrade
2. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...tion On How To Upgrade with Bootloader method
the first way looks easyer.
anyway, the second one says at point "4..." that you need to download MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and copy it to the custom ROM folder.
but where to download it from??? it sends me to a page with a link. but the
link refreshes the page and it doesn't download anything!!!
anyway, let's say that i somehow manage to download the exe file.
wich way of upgradeing to use??? the second one says that it is good for
any Universal model. i understand that this one is good for Dopod 900, SPV M5000, O2 Exec users. is it true????
then this means that the first way of upgradeing is suitable just for HTC Universal users????
i have a SPV M5000. wich one should i use?
where can i download the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe file?
also, wich is the latest Bootloader version? in the wiki i see that 1.01 is the last one. but on the forum someone said that he uses a 2.xx version...
ialso want to unlock my device. there is a wiki section for this too.
the 15th step says:
"Flash your original Radio ROM. Do not upgrade the bootloader until you restored an original radio rom."
what does that mean???? do i have to get the last Original ROM from Orange
and to install it after i unlock my device????
i allready have an Original ROM. and i allready have bootloader 1.01.
if i now unlock my device, then do i have to reinstall an Original ROM, and after that i have to upgrade again to bootloader 1.01 ????
in wich order should i upgrade the bootloader, unlock the device and upgrade to WM6?
call me stupid or realy stupid, but i just can't understand those steps i mentioned.
thanks in advanced for your answers!!!!
can i take the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from the Radio 1.15.00 archive and copy it to the Custom ROM folder ???
is it the same MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe file???
i still cannot find any place to download it from.
If you're on the Orange M5000 ROM already, unlock it before you start messing around with anything else.
Once you have done that by following the wiki, you can play with other ROM images.
The MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe you found in the 1.15 archive will be the same yes.
And nearly all of the custom WM6 ROM images you find on this page will have it included too.
If you want to use the radio 1.15 when you flash the ROM, simply copy the file into the same folder as the other ROM files before you run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, and it will update your ROM and radio at the same time.
i unlocked my device.
it now shows Radio 0.00.00
as i understand from the wiki, i have to reflash the original Radio 1.09.00, onlyy then to upgrade the bootloader to 1.01, and after that to upgrade to a custom WM6 ROM.
but where to download the original 1.09.00 Orange Radio ROM from???
i couldn't find it on the ftp.
does it matter wich radio rom i install? can i now install Radio 1.15.00 and after that to upgrade the bootloader and the OS ???
and also, if i upgrade the OS ROM and the Radio ROM to the latest official Upgrade posted by Orange, will it lock my phone again? or from now on i will have it ulocked no matter wich ROM or Radio i use?
thanks in advanced for your answers!
could you please answer my questions.
i can't realy use my device untill i finalize the upgradeing process.
must i reflash the original Radio 1.09.00 after the Sim Unlock?
or is it safe to flash any different Radio version, say 1.15.00?
i would realy be thankfull to you.
1st method is the newest safest and easiest method
2nd is the old one, not recommended
i see that now the wiki has been updated.
with this method, is it necesarry to take out the SIM and Storage Card ?
the first sentance of the tutorial is:
"This works for when the Universal is in Bootloader and Windows Mobile"
i don't fully understand the meaning of the sentance.
does the sentance want to say that you need to be in Bootloader mode?
and what is it with the "...and Windows Mobile" at the end of the sentance???
as i understand, the main differences between the 2 methods (ex-methods) is that in the new one (available in the wiki) you don't have to use the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe anymore.
instead you have to download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=301662
both methods must be done in Bootloader mode.
but in the new one it isn't specified wether you need to
Unchek the "allow usb connections" in activesync.
so, do we still need to uncheck the "allow USB connections" in active sync?
does this new method require to be in bootloader mode when upgrading?
it isn't very clear.
thanks in advanced for your answers.
So, I'm the (un)lucky owner of a Vodafone branded HTC Trophy. I installed the latest HTC update which landed me on SPL version 1.22.2250.
I figured I want to install this version of Mango since I'll be able to to the rest of the updates trough Zune.
I don't know if I'll be needing to unbrand this device or not, I only know that if I run the proper RUU tool against my RGB screen (boot loader?!) it comes out with error 266 and leaves my phone hanging. I then need to reboot my device by pulling out the battery.
I was fairly advanced with Android's ROM way, and by means are not a stupid person. I googled quite a lot and read through most topics in this sub forum but it doesn't make sense yet.
What I'll be needing: A foolproof way to get to the latest Mango version. I don't care whats in between and are willing to take moderate risk such as flashing HSPL. There are so many ways and terms here I simply don't have the time to figure it all out. Time is money and since I'll hopefully be sparing out a few hours with this way I offer the lucky winner of writing me a fool proof step of plans $10 on paypal.
Also, bare with me. English isn't my native language.

You can contact me in dutch and i might be able to help you out.
Though i have samsung device.
What version are you running? Did you try to upgrade to Mango beta? are you dev-unlocked?
If you are on NoDo and unlocked, make sure you install provxml deployer and run it before upgrading to mango.
Try installing the zune beta and all the files, than do the upgrade, now run the htc connection setup (this will execute some files which will fully unlock your device). After you did this, make sure to run provxmldeployer again, this will place the same files back, you will need these after the second update to mango b2.
This is what I did to get the same ROM.
I had the 1.22.2250 SPL as well, but then I thought to myself that I don't need useless vodafone apps on my phone, I just need OEM apps because they are more useful than a shortcut to vodafone 360.
So, here's what I did:
1. Go here and download the appropriate ROM for your Trophy. You must get 7004/7008 version. You should download the appropriate ROM that matches the characteristic value of your phone. The ROMs in this thread are all branded, but flashing this ROM will downgrade your OS version and SPL version to 1.09 or 1.10 so you can HSPL later.
After the ROM has been downloaded, extract the zip file somewhere easy to find (eg. desktop).
[Step 2 will erase everything on your phone]
2. Connect the phone by holding down volume down key and connect it via USB. Wait until appropriate drivers are installed. Flash the ROM you downloaded from step 1. This should take less than 10 minutes. After flashing, Trophy will restart and boot to normal. Turn it off. Your phone is still branded in this step.
3. After flashing, download DFT's RSPL/HSPL here and be sure to get the second version. Extract the files somewhere easy to find (eg. desktop). This tool will let you install customized ROMs/unbranded ROMs on your device. Therefore if you replace your SPL with HSPL, you will be able to install the unbranded Mango ROM.
4. Hold down volume down key on the Trophy, and connect it via USB. Trophy will go straight to bootloader state, and run the DFT_RSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH exe file . Select the nearest version of SPL shown on your Trophy, and click install. If Trophy reboots, flash was successful, if not, try again until you get RSPL.
5. After RSPL, do step 4 again, but this time, run DFT_HSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH and install HSPL, not OSPL. After HSPL, Trophy will reboot. If Trophy successfully boots to Windows Phone, then you have done it right.
7. Go here and download your ROM for Trophy which is RUU_Spark_S_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEASE.exe. This is the unbranded ROM which will remove carrier (vodafone) apps.
8. Turn off Trophy and connect it by holding down volume down key and connect via USB so it goes straight to bootloader state, unzip the ROM downloaded from step 7 using winrar or winzip.
9. Open the extracted folder and delete SPL_signed.nbh as this will overwrite your current SPL and will brick your Trophy.
10. Run the rom update utility and happy flashing! Trophy should restart after flashing.
So there you have it. After setting up your Live account, you must go to the marketplace and download HTC Connection Setup and run it. This will configure your carrier settings (3G/HSDPA, MMS) to your phone since this Mango ROM is unbranded and does not carry and customization by your carrier (vodafone).
Cool. Now trying the method from downloaderintruder
Edit: Seems to be working. Flashing final Mango ROM now, will report back when running.
Edit2: Done!
Fantastic - thank you.
I've been trying to do this for a week but to no success

Resolved this by changing from a USB 3 port to a USB 2 port? Weird but it worked...
Do i need Y usb cable to do this? Because i`ve tried this with standard usb cable from htc and my Trophy stucked in "USB host mode" screen.
I don`t have that Y cable, and i was looking for solution to debrand phone without Y, and i`ve found this thread, wheres no word about Y cable but now i don`t know
--------------------------------------------------
Ive found solution:
Instead of pressing volume button and connecting it to usb, i`ve holded volume rocker down, and hit the on/off button, when tricolor screen appeared i`ve released volume button and THEN connected my phone to my PC via USB

ijust do this. All ok!!
but i have a question. If i want to bo back to 7004/7008 version from Vodafone, do i have to delete again spl_signed??
Its the trophy unbranded totally??
Its because you say to install hpsl and then to delete sppl:signned, and i dont know if i have to delete spl_signned in all roms from this point.
thanks, sorry for my English, i speak spanish

If you want to go back, you will need to get the 7004/7008 version of the ROM with 401 CV. Check out ansars ROM in the Trophy forum and download that. Go to the bootloader state, and flash it straight to your phone, this will downgrade from 7720 to 7004/7008 (unbranded).
To go back to branded, first you must HSPL your device after downgrading, then download the original ROM for your trophy and flash it. You don't have to delete spl_signed file, you only had to delete this in the mango rom because it will brick the device since the spl version from mango had a huge leap from spl1 to spl4.
Be aware though, some Trophy users who flashed ansars ROMs didn't get past 7008 to get the PreNodo/Nodo update, so you can't use your backup at this time. I'm still looking for a solution on this, but since I don't really like branded phones I'm all good with my Trophy.

Updates will still go through via Zune.
For the problem regarding how to go back to your backup, here's a theory, IF there will be mango ROMs for our trophies like there's Nodo, we can install that ROM and restore our backup via Zune. That is, IF there will be Mango roms for our trophies with matching CV's.
Now I have the error code c101b001 in the marketplace.
Do you know why?

Hello
I know this has been discussed alot. But i just want to check in before doing this to my phone.
So i have upgraded to 5.11 Bootloader unwillingly and now i want to downgrade back to a 1.xx bootloader and install a HSPL So i could install a Custom full unlocked WP7 phone
First of all here is my phone's current status:
HTC 7 Mozart (1st gen) TMO branded with no sim lock
OS:7.10.7720.68
Firmware: 2250.21.50401.111
HW revision: 0004
Radio: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Bootloader: 5.11.2250.1(133065)
Unfortunately I have no access to any Android/WM 6.5 phone and i have no SD/micro-SD card (I can buy them, but i'd rather not because they have no use to me) But i do have a 8GB USB flash.
So, from what i have read, Since i have a TMO_DE (111) phone, I cannot use ansar's ROMs to downgrade and my only option would be the goldcard method.
The only thread about downgrading 5.xx SPL that i meet their requirements is This
So a few questions:
1. Do i have to use the Goldcard.IMG provided in that thread or i need to make myself one for Mozart as said in other threads?
2. Im going to use "RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.30.401.01_Radio_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50U_NoDo_Signed_by_ansar" ROM. Is this correct ROM to do a downgrade with?
3. Just checking in, After a successful Downgrade (If i don't brick my phone) Im going to first Install HSPL as instructed in [DFT][Updated!#3] HSPL / RSPL for HTC WP7 First Generation And then Install a Custom ROM in [update][DFT Freedom ROM] Mozart mango 7720 V2 version. Is this right to get a FULL unlocked device?
4. After i Downgrade my phone using Goldcard, Do i get a working OS so i can resume the work later?
Thank you all. And let this topic stay to answer some newbies like me
Ad. 1. You can use Goldcard.img from that topic (post #5).
Ad. 2. I think so it's ok ROM, but you have to try.
Ad. 3. Yes.
Ad. 4. After downgrade you can install other stockROM or (if you have HSPL) costomROM. If you install stockROM you lost HSPL.
You can try that downgrade method (SLSPL by Ansar): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196183 for HTC Mozart you have link in #2 post.
Question 4: Yes. Downgrading the SPL (even breaking it, which is what a "half-bricked" phone has) does not limit the ability of the OS to operate.
Note, however, that any official updates installed during this time may also include a new SPL, forcing you to downgrade it again if you want to use a custom ROM.

Are you read Ansar topic (point 3 - bold)?
The process is as simple as of these 3 steps
1. Download the proper SLSPL ROM for your branded device operator, see post #2
2. Flash the provided SLSPL ROM and will re-boot in tricolor Bootloader screen, see post #3
3. Flash ANY Stock ROM of your branded device operator and finish the story of 5.10 Bootloader

Yes, but i don't understand what it does mean exactly
Do you mean that those roms will work on my device (to downgrade it) but i need to have a Stock rom to install on it? (but i can install HSPL on top of it to get custom roms, right?)
I can't think of any other definition right now
And i'm sorry my english is not that good, so maybe you can clear it up for me if it's not that?
1. Install SLSPL ROM for Mozart: RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_5.11.401.01_SLSPL_Signed_by_ ansar.zip
2. Install branded stockROM=originalROM for Mozart. Download this one: RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.25.111.05_5.50.09.18_22.24.50_RELEASE.exe
(source from @Football: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427893)
3. Install RSPL/HSPL
4. Install customROM (what you want)

Thanks for clearing things up
Trying this now.
I have downloaded RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_5.11.401.01_SLSPL_Signed_by_ansar.zip And tried to flash my Mozart. But got the "INVALID VENDER ID" error (My phone is not branded). I live in Middle East. Does this mean that I can't use the Europe version (which ansar provided) to flash my Phone?
Apologies for the kind of naive question. I'm still a newbie in these stuff.
Hmmm I don't know why, but I think so you have to ask Ansar why you can't install that ROM.
Hi,
I'm attempting to Interop Unlock my HTC HD7.
I've just run a restore in Zune, but it appears that the earliest restore gives me:
OS version: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.51002.728
Hardware revision number: 0002
Radio software version: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Radio hardware version: A.102.0.D4
Bootloader version: 5.10.2250.0(132968)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
I understand that if I have a Firmware revision number of 5xxxx, I cannot run the Interop Unlock as seen in this thread.
From what I see, it is possible for me to download a Stock ROM, in my case, this, and run that to downgrade my Firmware revision number.
I would just like to clarify before I start this process. Is the above information correct, and to run the Stock ROM, do I simply enter Bootloader Mode, start the .exe as downloaded from the thread, and let it run (seems too simple to me)?
Also, should I manage to get Interop Unlock working on a Firmware revision number of 4xxxx, would the Interop Unlock stick once I update the phone (is normal Zune update even possible after that)?
Thanks.
Be very careful. Since you have bootloader 5.xx
Pretty sure downgrading like that will brick your device. You have to use a y-cable. Last I heard, ive had my hd7 unlocked for a while not sure of newer ways.
Look for the downgrading spl thread in hd7 development. I think that's where it is.
After downgrade spl. I would just install hard-spl and flash a custom rom. Easier.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Thanks for the reply. Didn't know about the Bootloader thing, fortunately I didn't go ahead with it yet.
I was under the impression that if the ROM is the official ROM for my region (SEA, Singapore, 728), I wouldn't require any modifications to the SPL.
I don't want to mess with the SPL or the bootloader though, I've bricked enough devices (not WP7) to have a phobia of such things. Guess I'll have to wait for a breakthrough in unlocking, unless someone has any other methods.
If you want to be absolutely safe, GoldCard (which what @reeg420 meant when mentioning Y-cable) is the most reliable method.
However, I *think* you can actually downgrade to an older stock ROM just fine even with SPL 5.x. It just won't downgrade the SPL itself the way it normally would. You can't use RSPL on SPL 4.x or higher, which is why being able to downgrade the SPL is sometimes important (people who want to use custom ROMs need RSPL).
I suggest you do a bit more searching before deciding. I have not tried messing with SPL 5.x at all; I briefly had 4.x on my phone and promptly downgraded it to 3.1 again.
Thanks. I decided to go ahead with it, but got an error: "ERROR 226 (Flash Write - FLASH write error happened. Please check your PDA Phone)", which rebooted my phone. Phone appears to be okay though, not bricked.
Looks like I'll probably need to use a GoldCard?
Edit: So it appears that the earliest ROM that allows me to HSPL is this, which has the Bootloader 1.54.2250.0(112696). Could someone check my following steps and verify that I'm correct?
1. Get Y-Cable, USB Gender Changer, MicroSD+Card Reader
2. Get GoldCard Tool
3. Get GoldCard IMG, from this thread? "My custom goldcard.img"
4. Format MicroSD to FAT32
5. Place RUU_signed.nbh extracted from the aforementioned ROM with Bootloader 1.54.2250.0(112696), renamed to SCHUIMG.nbh
6. Run GoldCard Tool, ignore CID box, use GoldCard IMG, Patch MMC
7. Connect GoldCard, Y-Cable, phone, etc, etc, etc, patch phone
8. Get DFT's WP7FG3 from this thread
9. Install HSPL (or should I get RSPL? What is the difference?)
10. Find ROM of my choice (what do you recommend?)
11. Run selected ROM's ROMUpdateUtility.exe, flash device to new Custom ROM
Q1: What happens if the GoldCard process fails?
Q2: Is there any cons as to having an outdated Bootloader?
Q3: Am I able to upgrade my device with Official ROMs in the future after performing this, or must I simply use Custom ROMs from here?
Q4: Will having a Custom ROM affect my connectivity with my network?

Answer for Q1: it will definitely brick your device
Answer for Q2: no cons that may disturb you
Answer for Q3: yes, you're able to upgrade your device with official roms
Answer for Q4: no, as i use custom rom on my device, no connectivity problems
Wow, the GoldCard step looks incredibly daunting then. Guess I'll give this a shot. Will have to wait for the stuff to arrive from Amazon though, which will probably be a while given my location.
Thanks everyone for your input
Hello guys,
I'm having trouble with my HTC 7 Pro.
Principially, I want to fully unlock my phone.
To do so, I wanted to install the HSPL. When I did that, I recognized that my current SPL is too high, 5.12.2258.0.
So, I tried do downgrade the SPL, but when I enter the bootloader, it doesn't tell me "serial" or "usb" any more....
I also did a hardreset, but nothing changed.
But do I have to do? Please help!
Thanks a lot!
Your device is half-brick. You have to install new SPL in service with JTag. At home you can't do that.

I see, but how exactly did that happen?
Is there any backup-method, that I can use get my messages, contacts and call-logs on another htc 7 pro?
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1532103&highlight=brick
This looks nice, thank you very much, I will try that.
Can somebody help me with finding the right files for my purpose?
(German T-Mobile branded HTC 7 Pro that should get an HSPL do install fully unlocked and cooked ROMs)
Thank you guys!

i dont think you need a t-mobile ROM, all you need is just do to a gold card SPL bootloader downgrade to 1.22 and then flash any stock signed rom which you have here on the forum, just search for "htc 7 pro stock rom" after that you can do a rspl and then a hspl. after that a custom rom for htc 7 pro. i have the New Tech ROM from ansar which is Tango 8773. unlocked and very good. no problem with this rom. and the best is it stays unlocked even after a hard reset!
if you dont have cables for gold card method, try ansars htc SLSPL (Stock limited SPL) and after that stock rom for htc 7 pro - rspl - hspl - custom rom there is a tutorial for this here on the forum just search for ansar SLSPL htc or something like that.
i think the gold card method is the easiest, i've done it several times, even after i flashed an rom to SPL (without rspl - hspl) and bricked my device! only the gold card method helped me out there. no i have HSPL 1.22 an Tango 8773 and all working.
Thank you guys for the answers.
I managed to build my own Y-Cable. When I plug it into my running PC and my running 7 Pro, the battery is loading. So I think the cable itself should work.
I downloaded this rom "RUU_Gold_HTC_Europe_1.22.401.01_Radio_5.63.09.13_3 a_22.36.50.15U_by_ansar" to downgrade SPL. Then I applied the goldcardmethod as "Budniu" explained it in his video. One Problem in that context could be that I only found a 2GB SanDisk-MicroSD-Card.
Anyway, when I first entered the USB-Hostmode for the first three or four times, nothing happened. After unpluggin the card several times, the 7 Pro finally showed "Loading", then "checking" and in the end "not allow".
What do I do wrong? Is it the wrong ROM or do I have to have a 1GB SD-Card?
Please help me!
Kindest regards!
