I had to call tmo today to order a 3rd set of g2x.
Reboots and freezing have gotten out of hand.
I had a Rep tell me they have not gotten calls about the issues recently and thought they were just about ironed out.
I got a real bad retention agent who basically said go elsewhere.
Really. But even she was better than Verizon.
I called back about my bill and got a great agent who read the notes from retention I think as she knew we both were having issues.
The transfer went from customer support to loyalty.
Loyalty sent 2 new phones out today. Same day.
This will be our 3rd set of g2x.
Tmo claims call ins are down. Complaints too.
I hope these phones work or we will have to look at sensations.
We love the phones. Not the problems.
And don't want sensations.
Why the heck is tmo not getting the galaxy s2?

Did you try factory data reset ?
That seems to work on some of the phones that are having reboot problems.
I'm on my 3rd G2X and the only problem I've had with all 3 is poor data reception
at my work location. (while the MyTouch 4g does just fine there)
I returned my phone to TMo for a refund over a week ago but Craigslist
got to me in when I saw a G2X for $260 so I'm back.
Too bad this phone is only capable of 14mbps.
I'm definitely down for getting a Sensation though.
I'll just get one off Craigslist.
Anyone see anywhere what speed the Sensation can do ?
TMo will doubtless get the Galaxy S II, dont worry.
The Sammysung Hawk is going to be 21 mbps buts it not dual core.

I just got off the phone with T-Mobile and was aware that the backlight bleeding is not a known issue. Although they always seem to take care of me. Shout out to John.

I love the phone. I just think its a shame it has such issues.
The sensation looks good but imagine how long updates may take with all that extra stuff in sense
I am a fan of touchwiz. I don't know why. But after my vibrant I'm sketchy on relying on Samsung for updates.
And I hate kies.
But the gs2 looks so damn good I'm not sure you would care about the update

I've read in 2reviews the g2x outperforms the galaxy s2 in games and playing flash.
So I would like to keep it if I can get one that works right
And with a better gpu shouldn't the g2x run smoother over all?

My phone has some hellacious troubles with lost signal. I did the GB leak update, but that didn't take care of it. I drove from my house in Chicago to one of the burbs to check out a Sammy Charge from Verizon and the phone lost signal at least a half dozen times. On the way back, the Charge didn't lose signal once. Don't know if it's faulty software when it transitions from "4G" to lower speeds, bad radio driver or bad antenna design. This is basically a good phone, but dropping calls when I'm driving is simply not acceptable when my N1 and now the Charge don't have the problem, driving the exact same routes.

This is simply false. The Orion is 1.2 Ghz which is why the OS feels snappier. Android doesn't use the GPU for accelerated graphics except in a few apps. Honeycomb is the first OS that really pushes GPU acceleration.
Go on Youtube and compare 3D games between both phones and see which one lags out and stumbles to keep up. Hint (it isn't the G2x)

Why do people keep swapping phones?!?!? Seriously? There hasn't been any new OS updates from T-Mobile/LG so you're not going to get a different software experience. I am waiting for an update - if the update doesn't fix it then I can say it's a faulty hardware. Also the leaked GB is useless as it uses the same baseband and kernel as our current system. If you flash Cyanogenmod and still get reboots then you might have a faulty phone as that's a completely separate kernel.

ok guys i need ur gelp, i only got a 1/2 hour to decide. i found a great deal on a tb but i dont know if i should get it.
are you guys happy with the phone?
would u get a diff 4g phone
how is the batt?
a list of pros n cons would be great
might buy it for 175 used. i got burn with the fascinate and i dont wanna do the same.
tge reason i want a 4g phone is to lock in unlimited 4g before the limited plans get in.
Best 4g lte phone imo. Just make sure to get an extended battery down the road.
Great speeds
OK screen
Great dev support
Not so great battery life on standard battery

Get the damn TB. Put some BAMF on it. Enjoy.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I can usually get from 8-16 hours from the thunderbolt on the standard battery, depending on use of course. I am sitting in wifi mostly, running das Bamf 1.8.6 right now. Over the weekend, I got 28 hours on a single charge on 3G, but I didn't use it much at all - just emails, a few websites but there was about an hour of pandora in there.
If you're interested in rooting/ROMing, I think the TB is definitely the best choice
I thought the Samsung phone was pretty good. Ofcourse I am not sure if it is worth the extra money, it probably sells for more than TB.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Not saying this cause I own one, thunderbolt hands down. The development community alone should be enough to make it the most appealing LTE device.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I was wondering the same thing. Hardware wise the charge is superior but developer wise the thunderbolt has more support. I bought my tbolt used in like new condition for $350. The price jacked up once the tiered data plans were leaked. At $175 check to make sure the esn is clean and then go for it!

No, hahah sorry kinda stressed out abou it for some reason
I am getting it just in case they say u can't be grandfathered in for the 4g. I don't even have 4g here but 4g is the future and I only pay 10 for unlimited ( I got this crazy promotional deal last November) n I don't wanna lose it when I do get 4g around here.
I have to say I'm impressed with the Thunderbolt, and I'm not an Android guy. Well Im totally an Android guy, now. If I had gotten any other phone available currently, I would have passed it off in a week.
The thunderbolt's quality combined with developer support and the online community just form a smartphone-holy trinity.
I have an iPad 2, iPad, iPhone 4, and Thunderbolt. The short battery life the first three days was a con. Then I started customizing my settings, and about 3 hours after ordering an extended battery I realized "Oh ****, I've been pushing this dude pretty hard for 10 hours."
Needless to say, I only use it when I'm going to be out all night and she's pretty enough that I may not charge it first thing in the morning.
Rooted Thunderbolt on BAMF Sense 3.0 RC 4 with MR2 radio and latest dreamKernel.
By the way, I see you're in Queens. I work in Long Island City and get great 4g speeds. About 25 down and 5 up.

you keep unlimited as long as you keep your plan (3g/4g doesn't make a difference), they have said that as long as you are unlimited with smartphone data, you are good (according to engadget). If you change your base plan in any way, then you will lose the unlimited data.
Thunderbolt is a great phone with minor hiccups stock. Charge has better battery life and a better screen. Thunderbolt has a lot better dev support as do most htc products. Thunderbolt comes with 40gb total memory, not sure about the Charge.
Every Charge I've played with has just dragged. I attribute it to the way Samsung distributed the ram. Their battery life sucks too. I can get 2 days out of my TB. I've used a Charge that regularly loses 40% in 3 hours.

I love my thunderbolt. I bought it used for $350 went to verizon to activate told him it was used and he asked if I wanted insurance. I said sure. Had an issue that was within 14 days of purchase and they gave me a new in box. Yeah I know people will ***** I screwed verizon but people have a job and should be trained. Since I have had no problems, love the Roms put out and 4g is great.
I can't believe that nobody had mentioned that the.TB is the only verizon phone with voice and simultaneous data thanks to its dual antennas.

I like my TB, but this is my first Android phone so I can't really compare. People have gone over the pros for the phone, and I agree with them. Here are a couple of potential cons. #1 is the phone sound quality. I personally don't find it that great, and to me Verizon iPhone (my wife has one) sounds better. I thought the phone amp was such a basic part that it should never be an issue, but surprisingly it is an issue for me. #2 is the 4g battery drain bug. The good thing is that not everyone has it, and I hope MR2 radio finally fixes it (testing that right now). Other than that it has been a great phone for me, and I am definitely enjoying the dev support, thanks to the devs and people offering help on this forum!

Check your area craigslist and see what people want for them. Around Baltimore people usually are asking 200 to 250. I would find the local selling price, subtract the cost of a new battery and then another 20 and go from there.
But why is it missing a back and battery anyway?

Just be careful though. What if he's keeping the good one and selling you the bad one?
IMO buy another battery so you can test out the phone.
- Download an app that tests the touch screen and it's multi-touch capabilities.
- Play some music through the speakers to make sure they work.
- Make a call to amke sure the outside party can hear you.
- And make sure both camera's work.
I know it's a little tedious, but it's better than getting screwed.
Good points mackster.
My brother has the same phone so I had planned to steal his battery and test it out. Hopefully it is the actual refurb.
pay via paypal and have whoever you are buying it from describe the phone in detail. if it doesnt work, you can easily get your money back
Does anyone know if the battery for the Galaxy is the same as Verizon's Fascinate?
Its not.

the k3 radio should be rolling out in the jellybean update today OTA. maybe wait and see how it is. if you are not opposed to rooting and unlocking the bootloader then i highly recommend cleanrom.
Motorola is a great phone for reception, probably the best imo.
Regardless of the radio on a GS3, it simply doesn't get the same reception some Motorola and Apple phones get... At my house, with the newest radio, I have to go outside in one particular area and stand still to make a call. With my old Droid 2 and my iPhone 4S I could easily walk around, inside and outside and keep a phone call with minimal issues.
The new radio helped mind you, i'm not out of signal 30% of the time now.... but it's still not quite there.
It's different for everyone. I get the same as my HTC incredible. I tested and compared before and after. Like others have said, maybe a different modem will help.

As someone has said, it is different for everyone. At my office everyone has Android except 1 person. The iphone user struggles with signal there while the majority of Android users have a fairly strong signal, including me with both of my S3's. One is stock, one is CleanRom.

Motorolas tend to bre a bit better based on my experience (and looking at signal strengths, data spedd, etc...). But I really like this phone and I'm in a decent enough signal area for this not to be a factor. My wifes iPhone is actually a bit worse than my S3.
Should've seen the Galaxy Nexus... That phone was horrible. I thin it's a Samsung thing.

This has been established for 3 years lol. Samsung makes the most feature rich phone but just doesn't do the best radios. But, it still is the best Samsung she has had as far as reception on a Samsung goes... In her ****ty service area.

Wait a few hours and call back. I tried the keep calling back thing when I was trying to get my upgrade moved up 1 week so I could get the SGS3 and they started saying when I asked about an early upgrade that since I wanted the GS3 they couldn't do it and then started saying no to an early upgrade.
I'm right there with the OP on the terrible reception. I've had Samsung phones before and they all were bad compared to Moto, but the GS3 is the worst I have had. I never had the Nexus so I don't know how bad it was but this is terrible. I constantly have to move my phone around and around and hit resend at least 5 times for every text. Phone calls rarely happen because they just won't come through. I find out after I leave the house that someone had called and left a message. If I make a call I have to walk around in my yard until it finally picks up a signal. Its very very sad that this phone has such ****ty reception because its such a great phone.
OP, if you want to switch wait until the evening shift and call until you get someone extremely friendly. That's what's always worked best when I have had a problem with anything. Any time I have called in the middle of the day for anything they are always assholes and don't really care what your problem is.

I just got back from visiting my mom down in Cochran. I live in Warner Robins and in Cochran my wife's gs3 had kicked to 3g at 600 kb dl speeds and on my rezound with my radio layout I was still able to pull 6 mb dl on 4g. I was able to maintain 4g. I also had 3 bars of service and 4g and in the house she had 1 bar of service and 0 data. Just signal for a call or text.
Basically it was such a large difference that my parents, as much as they like the gs3, will not even be able to buy one due to signal alone. They are gonna try out some razr hds possibly next week so next time I'm down I fan kinda get a better comparison seeing as how my rezound is far from stock lol. Wife's gs3 is bone stock no root ota jellybean
Hello, I am moving down to Guatemala in August and would like to take a phone with me,but use it as a tablet for a while as I will have no need of a phone for the first while. I am an outdoors kinda guy so I was looking at rugged phones and found these two;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Arrival...6349?pt=PDA_s_Pocket_PC_s&hash=item27d1e1468d
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Unlocke...19738?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones&hash=item337f8d9eba
Has anyone ever heard of these phone? I looked up rugged phones on amazon and found a 'CAT' (caterpillar) phone that looks just like it but had no specs so I could not tell if it was the same.
What I don't know or understand is if I get these can I use them as just a tablet, downloading apps over wifi and playing them anywhere?
Also, when I get a plan do I *HAVE* to get a data plan with it or will it work for just texting/calling?
Any other information that you think will help me would be VERY VERY appropriated!!!
Thanks so much!

Ok, I'm still unclear if I can use it as a tablet or not. thats the biggest question I have. I might never get a phone plan, just a mobile hot spot. Do you know if I can or not?
Thanks,

By a tablet I mean a phone without a data plan. Can I buy it, turn it on and use it? Or do I have to get a sim card?
I'm a teen with little money... Is the last one listed a good phone? (if I remember it has 1g ram and 2GHz processer...) I'm not to worried about the display as I will not be watching many video and the like.

I think I'm not understanding something. You want to get a phone without a data plan, then buy a mobile hot spot device? Why not just get the data plan? It'll cost the same, and you'll have one less device to carry around.
I was first looking for a rugged 5" tablet, but couldn't find one in my price range. So I was going to get a rugged unlocked phone and use it as a tablet and get a hot spot fir me and anyone with me to use. Is there a better option? I don't want a 2year plan, I'd rather have a month-by-month, and I can't find a month-by-month phone plan with hotshot enabled. But I can find a month-by-month hotspot plan. This is very confusing to me so all help is welcomed and appreciated!
Thanks,
Thomas
