Hi,
I setup my prophet to check email on Yahoo mail and everything looks fine except that it won't notify me any new email inside a folder, which I create a rule for.
For example.
I have a folder called Facebook Messages, so any new email from Facebook will automatically go to this folder.
But when I check Yahoo Mail, it doesn't see that I have a new email in Facebook folder as it only check my Inbox.
Is this normal or is there any solution to this?
Thanks,
Hi I own an Omnia 7 and also own a iphone 4. I am loving my Omnia 7 but there is one thing really bugging me. I have email accounts sync and on my iphone 4 I notice on sync all sent items (sent outside of the phone) are downloaded.
I have sync'd my gmail account and inbox is fine, but when I go into the sent folder and sync nothing happens! Is this a wp7 bug or an issue with my phone? I assumed it would download all my sent emails from my account from the last two weeks but sent items inbox is empty.
Just signed up to xda but have read this forums for years but registered in the hope someone out there can help me!
many thanks in advance.
i can't speak for gmail, but with my hotmail account, after "show all folders" and viewing the sent items folder, then selecting sync this folder, i was able to get it to sync fine. all the way back to emails from may.
do you have a hotmail account you could check against? is it just gmail?
this is happening to my gmail as well. I am using an hd7.
most inboxes load but the "sent" and "outbox" folders do not sync.
One way I found around this was to sync the "all mail" folder. This will allow me to see both inbox and sent mail. however, it also shows mail in the trash
If anybody has any insight into this issue please advise. thanks

You do the same w/ gmail and it will sync the outbox folder.
Thanks for responses and glad to hear I am not the only one. Its doing it for hotmail and gmail. Just tried suggestion by @mrroey and no joy. Its a very strange issue. I assumed it would download all my sent emails from last two weeks but not working only showing sent emails that were sent from the device itself. Anyone else getting this?
I had this same problem with Windows Mobile. Gmail puts sent mail in the "sent mail" folder. The name of the folder in Outlook is "sent items". Since the names do not match the folders do not sync as you would expect. With WinMo I just added "sent mail" as a synced folder. "sent mail" does not appear in the folders list for WP7.
Workaround: Go to settings in the Gmail web client. Create a new filter in the filters tab. Enter your email address in the from box. Click next. Check "Apply the label". Choose "sent items" from the drop down list or create the label if it doesn't exist.
Optional: Check "Apply to the conversation below"
Click Finish
This works perfectly for me.
Google uses a whacked out version of ActiveSync. It's not the Official ActiveSync that Microsoft uses for Exchange/Windows Live, AFAIK.
So there are some issues with it that may pop up.
thanks! creating labels seemed to fix the problem. great workaround.

Works OK on my HD7 many thanks!
If you don't require push email then you can just set up gmail using IMAP. You should be able to sync any folders using that method.
if i go into emails it downloads them no problem, next time i go into emails it deletes the ones already there, yet i don't receive these emails on my PC either .Why is it deleting them and is there any way to stop it
Are you using the GMail client or the other one ("Email")?
If the latter, are you using POP/IMAP, or Exchange? If it's not Exchange, I'd suggest you embrace your GMail account - you can configure it to collect email from other accounts - and use the GMail app. This has the extra advantages that you have a central contacts list, and can view your emails on any computer with a browser too.
use the other email and its a pop account ,so are you saying use g mail and set up my pop account on there, already have my g mail account set up on the email appr
There is most likely a setting to remove the mail off the server when you pull it into the app, thus deleting it off your regular mail server, and why you aren't seeing it on your pc. I'd poke around the settings a bunch and see what is up.

I set up a few POP accounts in the appropriate client, but I think the only 'delete/remove from server' option was only when emails were deleted locally. I'm not sure about the default behavior - whether it is 'download and remove from server' or just 'download a copy and leave on server'.
checking in the client settings, it's under Incoming Settings, and the options are only
"Delete email from server -"
and the two options are 'When I delete from Inbox' or 'never'.
That tells me the client should NOT be removing/deleting emails from the server except possibly when you delete a mail from the inbox. IIRC, the default setting was 'never'.
Combat, do you perhaps have a client running on a computer somewhere that may be periodically checking and removing the mail from the server? This is a common thing with email servers - someone leaves an email program running on a computer which is set to download and remove mail from the server... then the mail doesn't show up on their phone.
Incoming setting were set as never delete mail from server so unchecked it and rechecked it again ill see what happens
sent from my LEE Pad Transformer........I wish

There's probably a setting in the Email app for leaving mail on the server, but personally I get my GMail account to pick up mail for all my POP accounts.
You can configure GMail (through the web interface) so that you can send emails out as if from your other accounts too.
For example, if someone emails me at [email protected] then it gets picked up by my Gmail account. If I then hit reply, GMail will use [email protected] as the 'from' address. If I reply to an email sent to my gmail.com address, the reply will come from my gmail.com address.
So you don't have to mess around with 2 different apps, you have all your email in one place, accessible from anywhere, with a single contacts list. Win/Win.
I have set to delete emails from the server when emails are removed from the trash folder, but when I do that those emails are still on the server.
Any clue what is going on?
Thanks
So I setup my s8+ and setup my Gmail on the native email client. I selected as items arrive because I like having up to date email. When I go to delete a message on the S8+ it deletes, but shows a "deleted" sign and next to it "undo". I have since changed the setting to not ask to confirm, it still does it though. Now when I delete an email on the phone, it comes right back after a few seconds, I tested this with my Gmail opened on the website and it doesn't show deleted, however if I simply read them on the phone or mark them as read, it does correlate with Gmail and marks them as read. Testing the reverse, if I delete a message on Gmail, it does delete it automatically on the phone. What could be the problem? I've tried changing the web settings to auto expunge set to "off" and when a message is marked as deleted from the last IMAP folder move to the trash (used to be archive)
Maybe a bit more condensed. Basically the stock email app (s8+) has deleted emails keep popping back up. I have gmail on there with the "auto, as items arrive" setting. Marking as read does sync however., any ideas? Thank you!
My Gmail app has been doing this for a long time while using a secondary e-mail account within Gmail (My hotmail account).
I've never had a problem deleting Gmail e-mails though.
Just to clarify, this is for your GMAIL account correct?
Yeah, I am using the native Samsung Email client on the Galaxy s8+. When setting up my @gmail.com account., everything comes in quickly, marking as read works fine, the issue is when I delete an email, it comes back as soon as I refresh.
I have the same problem. And I think the reason is that your mail provider has the IMAP roth path folder named "INBOX"
But the samsung mail app has it as "Inbox"
This is why it works with Gmail and not other providers.
It can handle the incoming to place in correct folder. But when you delete it sends a request to the IMAP server to delete mail xxx placed in folder Inbox (Not INBOX)
And because there are no folder called Inbox on the IMAP server, nothing is removed.
Older samsungs/Android had both the option to "erase on server" and set "IMAP Root path folder" but the latest version don't
I have several accounts setup in the gmail app. Only one does this, my exchange email account for work. And it's not new and it's not related to the phone. This has been happening for years on multiple android versions and multiple devices when using the gmail client.
With third-party customers everything is in order and even with native problems did not notice.
"Unfortunately the stock android email app has the IMAP root folder names hard-coded in the app. They cannot be changed by user. The app expects the folders to be named
at the IMAP server exactly like this
Inbox
Outbox
Drafts
Sent
Junk
If IMAP-server uses different names the synchronization will not work properly"
So as I mentioned before. If Imap folder is named Inbox and not INBOX there might be problem. And it cant be fixed in other way than changing to a mail app that allows for manually setting the IMAP root folder name to INBOX
Me, too.

On my S8 phone I have 3 accounts (Gmail and TELUS) plus my Exchange account for work - and that's the only one that has this problem (Junk Folders messages reappear). Thank you for your post. Don't HAVE to have my work account on my phone so will remove it and hope that resolves this pesky issue.
