[Q] End of call phone behavior - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello,
Has anyone found a way to change the Samsung Galaxy S III behavior at the end of a call? Mine typically reverts the phone to a locked state, which is pretty annoying when you were just on a short call and need to make another call. Am I missing a setting? I would think being on a call would appear as any other activity, unless maybe you are on a call that exceeds the timeout you have set for lock security.
Thanks!

That's actually been the behavior I'm used to from my Incredible when taking a call when already locked or the timeout occurs when I haven't input anything to the phone for too long during a call, so it seemed the same for the Galaxy S III.
- ooofest

I've been using on call end from the play store. Im having a problem where at the end of a call it lags and shows the persons picture with a text message button on the bottom and a phone to recall them and it was getting quite annoying so now I just have it go straight to home

Thanks for the replies.
I'll have to give On Call End a try.
I'm pretty sure I've experienced this situation even on outgoing calls. I was hoping there was a secret setting somewhere. I was used to my Droid 2 where the phone would go back to the screen you were on right before you made your call....i.e., if you made a call from your Favorites screen, it would go back to that screen. I'd really like to have that type of functionality, but maybe it's not possible. I'm guessing this is more a function of Touch Wiz than ICS, right?
Thanks again!

I've never had it go to lock screen after a call, but it's never been locked when I recieved one. I am assuming it started locked before the call came in?
Typically I end up back in whatever I was doing on call end, though sometimes it just aggravatingly sits at the dialer screen and forces me to manually go back to what I was doing before the call interrupted me.
If I initiate the call, 100% of the time it dumps me to the dialer screen when the call is over.
Stock rom, rooted.

Yea my droid x and razr would go bac to what I was doing. I've never had it go to my lockscreen and I've answered calls when it was locked. I just have on call end take me to my homescreen because otherwise ill get this screen if I dont after I end a call and then I can wait a few seconds for it to go away or I can push back which is annoying.

Do any of the ROMS change this behavior or give you more options for controlling it? The On End Call seems a little better to me, but I'd still like to go back to screen I was actually on before.

Can we remove the Emergency Call button from the pattern unlock screen yet?

With all of the new developments with the lock screen, I was wondering if anyone has re-looked into removing the 'Emergency Call' button from the lockscreen?
Would be greatly appreciated if someone can figure that one out
I don't use a pattern unlock. Are you talking about HTC's unlock or vanilla?
Edit: Nevermind, it's apparently the same for both. I told you I never use it. lol
Yeah, they're both the same.
If you Google it, there's dozens if not hundreds of people asking for this to be removed -- so many accidental 911 calls while trying to unlock, or calling from people's pockets. Occasionally I unlock with my left hand and dragging around on the screen isn't as precise. I've almost called them myself.
Well this one is beating me so far. haha. I removed the actual emergency "+" no problem. But the text and button are currently winning. lol. I am transferring my site between hosts now and need to work on that as it could take time. But this is now on my "must figure it out" list.
on the hero it brings up a dialer, it won't directly dial 911, did that on the samsung moment accidently before i got the hero
Good news / bad news....
After doing a lot of digging (it wasn't in the normal places for removing stuff like this) I was able to find the button! The reason it's not in the normal places is it's actually a widget; which I found interesting.
The down side is that removing it will crash the phone on bootup. I'll play with it more but for now I really need to work on moving my site.
Nice detective work! Could a blank widget that does nothing when clicked take it's place?
Yea, I second/third/fourth/hundredth this request. I cannot tell you how many times I've pocket dialed ######*****38472938471928374982 to "Emergency" from the unlock pattern screen. Quite friggin' annoying if you ask me.
With the hack to kill the Menu Menu bypass this doesn't seem to be so much an issue any more but I would still rather see the button either made really small or removed.
Saw the other post about the emergency call button being removed on vanilla lockscreen.
Can it be done with the pattern unlock screen?
Thanks

wait, where is this menu menu bypass?
Just saw this thread, and since I had the hood up on the applicable framework file, for the clear vanilla lockscreen, figured I'd take a look.
Are you guys looking for something like this ?

This "fix" has been incorporated directly into the vanilla lockscreen zips posted here.
Also you can make it go to your dialer, then you can use it as a "iforgot my lock pattern call a friend and see if they know it" lol ill edit with a link in a little bit

Can you also incorporate this into the HtcLockscreen?

The pattern function unlock is not part of the HtcLockScreen. It is in the android.policy.jar file, which is what I have posted.
If you are running the stock lockscreen, just flash Option #2, and then you don't have to worry about the second half for modifying the XML file. That is for the Vanilla lockscreen only, though it certainly won't hurt.
Is there anyway to remove the Emergency Call button from just the regular non-HTC lockscreen? Because for some godknowswhat reason, they decided to put it RIGHT OVER the unlock button... you can test this by putting your phone in airplane mode, then taking it out, and then you'll get No SIM as the carrier, and Emergency Call "so conveniently" placed.

That was a bug that caused it to show up after disabling and enabling airplane mode. I posted a fix in J's thread that he linked earlier and he integrated it in to his patches.
Thanks flipz, I'll look around for it.

[PROB] Call operation failed

I have a strange problem with my phone... in brief, sometimes when i get to make a call I get the notification above "The operation failed" before initiating the call. of course in this situation if somebody calls me, they will hear that my phone is ringing, but in fact it's not ringing on my side, and I can't know if somebody phoned me.
a soft reset solves the problem, and I can again make calls without problems... until my phone decides to go still without informing me... the only thing that makes me notice is when I get no calls for like 12 hours or more... I then check by calling somebody and get this "Operation failed" damned notification -sometimes only- (which means my phone doesn't go still after a regular period.
at the beginning of this year I asked a question on the Energy thread:

but some times it turns into this shape:
a soft-reset fixes the normal icon.
however, I tried different Radios on different Energy ROMs but still the same tiny problem... anybody got a though about it?
ROM: Energy Phoenix2 Dec21
Radio: Raph 1.17.25.9

I don't see an icon change now, but the problem is more than an icon change anyway.
I tried the following, but the problem is still random (not regular):
flashing a stock ROM
flashing another Radio
trying another SIM of another provider
but the problem is still the same...
I recently tried removing the Security Unlock, and now the phone goes still sometimes, which means sometimes the call drops before initiating, but I don't get the "Operation failed" notification any more.
again, a soft reset solves the problem
I can't trust my phone now, especially is that I use it for my work and school... which means my colleagues will be angry with me if they call me but I don't answer.
I would really appreciate any help!
Device: HTC Touch Pro T7272
ROM: Energy sencity 21916 Dec.21
Radio: 1.14.25.35
Security Locked
PS I apologize if you think that this problem is not worth starting a new thread in this development forum.
The Operation Failed
I made a screen shot of this notification and I'm posting it here
Happy New Year to everybody
I feel your pain. I had a very similar problem with my Raphael (on TAEL ROM at time), only difference was anyone making incoming calls did not get ring tone they got phone off message from network. I would get same error message as your image if making call (sms worked sometimes but not always when calls would not)
My problem would occur once a day usually early hours of morning & once resolved once would probably be ok fro rest of day !
I could toggle radio off/on to fix it.
Tried different Settings SIMs, Networks, ROMs, Radios, HardSPL to no avail. I started using another phone for a few days & when I went back to the Raphael for a little playing around it was working 100% normally without issue & still is today (currently acting as modem for internet via GPRS).
Hope you have same luck as me as I found no answers here or googling !
thank you very much for your input.
what I did is to set my calls to forward to my landline phone after 10 seconds of ringing, just to be notified of calls when my phone is in this strange mood... however, I still can't be notified when somebody pays me a missed call, which happens with me often from my family due to that I live abroad.
I understand this is not a common problem, but once it happens, it becomes a pain in the a§.
the guarantee is supposed to expire after 3 months, but I still don't know how to explain this problem to them, since it's not happening on a regular time line.
I hope I'm not going to have to send it for repairing, as I believe this is a problem that can be solved easily... I just need to be pointed in the right direction
Use another phone for 5 days with current SIM, reflash SPL,ROM, radio ROM, give it a break for the 5 days then load it up & see what happens !
If you seill get no joy get it in to service before it is too late.
take it in when it is playing up, push for a replacement rather than repair as short warranty would not give you fair chance to evaluate repair & most repairs shops would only flash ROM as first step unless fortunate enough to encounter issues during short test after ROM flash.
Good luck, mines still working fine at moment !

[Resolved] Anyone know how to get rid of this icon in my notification bar

For a DroidX (rooted..but that's it):
I randomly got this voicemail icon in my notification bar last week. I've used google voice for years now, and I've never switched back n forth or anything. I deactivated my google voice today to see if i could manually delete it, but I'm goign to have to go through 2+years of voicemails to even get to my new ones i think (for the built in vzw voicemails).
anyway, anyone know an alt solution to this....notice the date on the voicemail too. wtf is that all about?

I had a voicemail 'sneak' through not long ago, but I just dialed in and deleted it like normal. Is there a way to manage them through the vzw website?

i sure wish there was. i don't think vzw gives that option, surprisingly. but if they even did, i'm sure they'd charge for it
thx for the reply though
aw i finally got it. for some dumbass reason, i thought all my voicemails were somehow cached on vzw side (ya i know..just realized how stupid that sounds). anyway deactivated gvoice & deleted quite a few voicemails until i got to my new one.
sorry for thread hijackin but i have the exact same problem; except its not with voice mail, its with SMS.
I got it when i bought an SMS-ticket for a bus-ride, thing is i sent an sms to a number and was suposed to get an sms back from another number confirming that i bought the ticket and some serial numbers and stuff in it, but i cant find it in my inbox. Although, i have 1 new sms with a red little 1 like the pic, and i have 1 new SMS in the notification bar thingy up top...
at the moment, i have no idea how to fix this, and i've done some reading but cant find any solution. i only have 2400 sms in my inbox atm which should be quite low and not violate some 9300+ bug or whatever that is...
halp pritty plox.
If you are using a custom rom, you might want to back it up using ClocworksMod and then flash the phone back with with Odin3 to stock rom and see if it fixes the problem...............
Did the voicemail message say "Hai it's me! I've built a time machine and travelled back to 1969 to send you a voicemail!!11!. Kthxbai"?

that'll prolly do it. but ahem, i got no custom rom, got 2.2 official, rooted it, fixed some nice theme, some nice apps etc... so any other guess on how to fix it?
discovered that if i delete the message about gettin an sms in the notification bar up top it actually goes away, but if i then enter my sms inbox that still has a red little icon with a 1 in it and then enter a new sms i get the notification about having the sms that i cant read, and if i try to enter the sms thru the notification bar it just takes me to an empty new sms ... just gets wierder :/....

So basically when I got the phone after a few days it started happening... out of the box, no rooting/play around sense 3 all intact.
Randomly, it just lets me accept some calls and for other I only have one option "end call" (or just let it ring). There is no hardware button on sensation obv.
then I reset the phone to factory from the boot loader. and the problem came back after a while.
I reset again, used temp root now, I'm using "go launcher" i don't have lots of apps, i run it light so save on ram and battery (hence "go launcher" and no "sense 3.0") and the problem is back. So we know its not Sense. It must be gingerbread.
Ive tired fast boot and everything.
one thing ive installed consistently through every scenario is "google voice", i really love it. I will try uninstalling it if anyone thinks its plausible. I think its just gingerbread messin around. I googled the issue and this is all i could find..
http://code.google.com/p/synergy-thunderbolt/issues/detail?id=24
sounds like the guy has the same issue but I cant find a correlation.
Isn't that the call connected screen? Odd that it shows that
nah, its ringing at the moment. I cant accept the call... LOL
I had the same thing happen today - I couldnt answer the call for the life of me - Glad its not just me - But its BAD - My Dads in the Hospital and I dont want to miss a call...

It happened to me with no ear piece in - Brother called my phone and I had no way to answer it - I was pressing everywhere - Nothing but end call was an option.
(And before someone thinks it, it was not answered, phone was ringing... and ringing...)

Yea, same problem as mine, so this confirms it. One more question, do u have any phone/text/caller id applications installed?
Mr. Number has this issue Im told, but ive never used it.
I do have "Google Voice" but i dont think thats it. Im just trying to find a correlation, something must have happened to both our phones to act this way.
I have the same issue.
Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't it's wierd.
I really hate having to decline a call on someone because the call answer software fails... it makes my phone look like a piece of crap.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wLDyB8VNQE
video of Problem!!!
When you guys see that screen, can you hit the speakerphone button? It is odd, I never had that problem with mine.
This happens to me sometimes too. No idea why.
My wife just asked me the same thing today - so both our phones have had this - I called her and she couldnt answer so she called me back and said "I Had no answer option, just end call"
So it appears to be an issue around - and shes as close to stock as you can be - never temp rooted.
Ok just got a replacement phone in the mail.
For (call answering problem and dust under screen).
booted up, Factory reset just to make sure I was starting from scratch
and bam! got the call answering problem on the first call....
WTF!!!!
Update!!
Factory reset from Hboot and everything seems to be fine now..
I really think its an app thats doing this...
I have this problem almost all the time. Some times a reboot will help.
Has anyone found out the cause of this problem?

[Q] how do I stop it to vibrate when calling

I searched in the forum but I didn't find the answer,
well I have a nexus S with CM nightlies 512, but when I used the CM 7.0.2 it did the same I don't remenber if the stock did that.
What happen is the when I make a call everytime my face or my fingers touch the screen it vibrates and I freaking hate it, because I keep switching sides when talking or simply move the phone away and then it vibrates.
I tryed turning the touch feedback in the call app and it didnt work, then I turned all the vibrations in the sound settings, but then when I click in the notification buttons they don't vibrate either(its weird).
Is there a way to make it stop vibrating during a call but still make the notification buttons vibrate?
thanks
have you checked your call settings? not under cm settings. maybe its something in there..
Haptic feedback perhaps? Options in Settings>>Sound and in the dialer under Preferences.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
alright, but if I go into the settings and turn the Haptic feedback off, the notification buttons won't vibrate either and that doesnt fell good, and if I turn the Haptic feedback on the call app it just wont work, I think it might be an issue of the rom idk
there are 3 different places you can find haptic or vibrate during call setting.. 3 or 4.. depends on mod i guess.
1. preferences in dialer. the 1 u been messing with
2. settings->sound
3. settings->call ... different than dialer preferences
4. i use go sms.. there is an option there for vibrate during call for texts..
i dunno.. thats all i can think of dude.
I have tried all the dialer prefs, sound settings, call settings, all haptic places I can find, and still I get 4 vibrates during dialing, after pick up I get a few, and at hangup a couple more. In addition, during the call, anytime I move the phone it does two vibrates. I tried a few dummy calls to my home voicemail, and every time I shake the phone a little (during the call) it vibrates twice. My friends are also massively annoyed by the noise, which makes me boil over. Its been doing this with every rom I've run in the past month or so. It never had this problem in the past. So may it be a bug in one of my updated apps, or perhaps in cyanogen 7?
Eris with Macrom glass 3 1.8. Also happened with various GSB roms too- but only in the recent month or two. HELP
